To provide a piston ring for providing sufficient sealing and long life durability of the piston ring and a cylinder liner.SOLUTION: A piston ring 100 for a piston of a reciprocating internal combustion engine includes a ring part 1 and a locking part 2. The lock 2 comprises a circumferential parting line at a first axial parting line distance from the top side T of the piston ring 100 and at a second axial parting line distance from the bottom side B of the piston ring 100. Further, the piston ring 100 comprises a cambered contour, wherein the cambered contour comprises a circumferential pivot line having a first axial pivot line distance from a top surface T of the piston ring 100 and having a second axial pivot line distance from a bottom surface. According to the invention, the axial distance between the circumferential separation line and the pivot line is less than 20%, preferably less than 10%, of the axial width of the piston ring.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
