Abstract
Description
Technical Field
[0001] The present invention relates to a solid cosmetic composition, and particularly to a solid cosmetic composition having moldability and water solubility and a method for producing the same.
Background Art
[0002] Commercially available liquid topical skin care products, such as those in liquid, emulsion, gelatinous or cream form, can reach a water content of 70% to 80%. Therefore, a large amount of plastic is required for packaging as a container (for example, a press bottle, a spray bottle, a hose or a cream can), and moreover, there is a need to worry about the problem of overflow during carrying, which is not travel-friendly.
[0003] And, since liquid topical skin care products have a high content of moisture and nutritional components, it is often necessary to add preservatives to avoid the growth of microorganisms. However, some preservatives (for example, methylisothiazolinone, methylisothiazolinone) are irritating to the skin and may cause allergies.
[0004] Commercially available solid cosmetic compositions generally need to form a fixed shape with wax or oily substances, which are heavy on the skin and give a sticky feeling, resulting in a poor user experience.
[0005] Therefore, in order to solve the above problems, a solid cosmetic composition and a method for producing the same are urgently needed.

[0017] According to some examples of the present invention, the solid cosmetic composition is soluble in 900 μL to 1100 μL of water. [Effects of the Invention]
[0018] When the solid cosmetic composition and method for producing the same of the present invention are applied, a mixture consisting of a specific sugar excipient, a specific active ingredient, and water is dried to produce a solid cosmetic composition that not only has moldability and water solubility, but also has advantages such as being easy to carry, being preservative-free, and having minimal waste, and can give the skin a refreshing texture and improve skin quality. [Brief explanation of the drawing]
[0019] The attached drawings below are intended to make the above and other objectives, features, advantages, and embodiments of the present invention clearer and easier to understand. [Figure 1] This shows the water content of the skin in the test area and the control area at different time points in one embodiment of the present invention. [Modes for carrying out the invention]
[0020] As described above, the present invention provides a solid cosmetic composition and a method for producing the same, which is a dried product produced by performing a drying process on a mixture consisting of a specific sugar excipient, a specific active ingredient, and water, and has advantages such as being moldable and water-soluble, easy to carry, free of preservatives, and low waste, and which can give the skin a refreshing texture and improve skin quality.
[0021] As used herein, “cosmetic composition” refers to a solid-form skincare product composition and / or makeup product composition. As used herein, “moldability” refers to the property of a solid cosmetic composition that it can be molded in a mold and that the resulting finished product maintains its shape completely and does not break after being moved. In some examples, the moldability of a solid cosmetic composition can be evaluated by the molding percentage, which is the percentage of the number of solid cosmetic compositions that have a perfect mold shape after being molded in a mold and undergoing a drying process, relative to the total number of solid cosmetic compositions. As used herein, “solid cosmetic composition having a perfect mold shape” means that the volume difference between the shape of the solid cosmetic composition and the shape of the mold is 90% or less.
[0022] In some embodiments, the "moldability" of a solid cosmetic composition can also be evaluated by the crushing percentage, which is the percentage of the number of crushed solid cosmetic compositions to the number of solid cosmetic compositions that retain their perfect mold shape during the process of a solid cosmetic composition with a perfect mold shape being demolded and moved. In this specification, "crushed solid cosmetic composition" refers to a solid cosmetic composition that is crushed after movement, and the volume of the largest remaining fragment is less than 90% of the volume of the solid cosmetic composition that retains its perfect mold shape.
[0023] As used herein, "water-soluble" refers to the property that the solid cosmetic composition can be completely dissolved in water and can be uniformly applied to the surface of the skin. In some embodiments, high water-solubility means that the solid cosmetic composition can be redissolved in at least one volume of water, or can be redissolved in 1.5 to 4 volumes of water. In some specific examples, a solid cosmetic composition with a volume of 300 μL to 500 μL can be dissolved in 900 μL to 1100 μL of water.
[0024] As used herein, "skin quality improvement" means that when the solid cosmetic composition is applied to the skin, it can increase the elasticity and / or water content of the skin. In some embodiments, the elasticity of the skin can be evaluated, for example, by touching the skin with a pressure sensor, deforming the surface of the skin, and then measuring the force that resists this deformation on the surface of the skin.
[0025] The skin water content can be evaluated by an electrical method or an optical method. In some embodiments, the electrical method can be evaluated, for example, by measuring the capacitance and / or conductivity of the skin with a probe. In some embodiments, the optical method can be evaluated, for example, by detecting the intensity of infrared rays in the absorption wavelength range (400 μm to 650 μm) corresponding to water molecules in the skin epidermis.
[0026] The solid cosmetic composition described in this case is a dried product produced by performing a drying process on a mixture, and the mixture consists of a saccharide excipient, an active ingredient, and water. The saccharide excipient may be, for example, a disaccharide, a polysaccharide, a fiber, or any combination thereof, and after undergoing the drying process, the solid cosmetic composition can maintain its shape and can be made to have formability.
[0027] The sugar excipient may include, but is not limited to, a disintegrant and / or a binder. In some examples, the disintegrant may be selected from the group consisting of, for example, microcrystalline cellulose, hydroxypropyl methylcellulose (HPMC), carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC), and any combination thereof. In some examples, the binder may be selected from the group consisting of, for example, chicory fiber, chitin, chitosan, maltodextrin, cyclodextrin, apple fiber, trehalose, mannitol, and any combination thereof.
[0028] In some examples, the weight ratio of the disintegrant to the binder may be, for example, (1-3):1. In some specific examples, the sugar excipient includes microcrystalline cellulose and carboxymethylcellulose, with their weight ratio being (1.5-2):1. In some specific examples, the sugar excipient includes cyclodextrin, microcrystalline cellulose, and chitin, with their weight ratio being (1-2):(1-2):(1-2).
[0029] The amount of sugar excipient used may be, for example, 3% to 5% by weight. If the amount of sugar excipient used is too little, the moldability of the solid cosmetic composition will be poor. On the other hand, if the amount of sugar excipient used is too much, the amount of active ingredient supported will be insufficient, resulting in low efficacy and low water solubility of the solid cosmetic composition.
[0030] The active ingredient may be selected from the group consisting of, for example, fungal fermentation liquid, fungal extract, vitamins, hyaluronic acid, collagen, amino acids, succinic acid, tetrahydropyrimidinium, and any combination thereof.
[0031] The amount of active ingredient used may be, for example, 3% to 5% by weight. If the amount of active ingredient used is too low, the skin-improving effect of the solid cosmetic composition will be low.
[0032] In some embodiments, the fungal fermentation broth may include, but is not limited to, a preparation of Aureobasidium pullulans cells and / or Cordyceps cicadae mycelium using a known culture medium and a known fermentation process. In some embodiments, the fungal fermentation broth may be a cell-free supernatant obtained by solid-liquid separation (e.g., centrifugation and / or filtration).
[0033] In some embodiments, the fungal extract may be obtained by performing an extraction process on the fungal mycelium and / or fruiting body using, for example, a solvent. In some specific examples, the solvent may be, for example, water. In some specific examples, the fungus may be, for example, Flammulina velutipes. In some specific examples, the fungal fermentation liquid is a water extract of Flammulina velutipes, which has good moisturizing properties and excellent water solubility.
[0034] In some embodiments, the vitamins may include, but are not limited to, water-soluble vitamins and / or fat-soluble vitamins. The water-soluble vitamins may include, but are not limited to, vitamin A, vitamin B, and vitamin C. The fat-soluble vitamins may include, but are not limited to, vitamin A, vitamin D, and vitamin E.
[0035] In some embodiments, the amine acid may include, but is not limited to, arginine, histamine, lysine, aspartic acid, glutamic acid, seric acid, threonine, cysteine, glycine, proline, alanine, isoleucine, leucine, methionine, phenylalanine, tryptophan, tyrosine, and / or valine.
[0036] The succinic acid mentioned above penetrates deep into the pores, helping to balance the skin and reduce oil secretion. Tetrahydropyrimidinium is a component commonly found in halophilic bacteria, and belongs to the category of compatible solutes and penetrating agents, possessing excellent moisturizing effects. As a supplement, mannitol functions as an excipient, but also has good moisturizing effects.
[0037] In some embodiments, the drying process may include, but is not limited to, a cooling treatment, a vacuum treatment, and a heat treatment. In some specific examples, the cooling treatment may involve, for example, cooling the mixture to below -40°C to freeze the water. In some specific examples, the vacuum treatment may involve, for example, reducing the pressure to 200 torr, for example, 0 to 150 torr. In some specific examples, the heat treatment may involve, for example, performing the treatment at a pressure of less than 200 torr and at 25°C to 35°C for 3 to 5 days to sublimate the frozen water, ensuring that the water in the manufactured solid cosmetic composition is completely removed.
[0038] Because the solid cosmetic composition is substantially water-free (with a moisture content of 3% or less), the mixture can be free from preservatives such as organic acids, alcohols, formaldehyde-releasing agents, and / or halogenating agents. Furthermore, because sugar excipients are used, the manufactured solid cosmetic composition can be free from the use of oils and / or waxes, providing a refreshing texture without a sticky feeling on the skin, and offering a high level of skin-improving effect compared to commercially available skincare products. In addition, because this solid cosmetic composition does not use oils and / or waxes, there is no need to use emulsifiers, and there is no suspicion of skin irritation or causing skin allergies.
[0039] In some embodiments, before the drying process, a mold injection process may be selectively performed to ensure that the manufactured solid cosmetic composition has a desired shape. In some embodiments, the solid cosmetic composition may be, for example, spherical, hemispherical, ellipsoidal, conical, pyramidal, columnar, or other suitable shape.
[0040] The solid cosmetic composition was demonstrated to be moldable. Furthermore, after redissolving the solid cosmetic composition with at least one volume of water, it could be completely dissolved and uniformly applied to the skin. After applying the solid cosmetic composition to the skin, it was demonstrated to leave a refreshing texture, increase skin elasticity and moisture content, and thereby improve skin quality.
[0041] The following examples illustrate the application of the present invention, but are not intended to limit the invention. Those skilled in the art can make various modifications and changes without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention. Example 1: Evaluation of moldability of different sugar excipients Manufacturing Example 1
[0042] Microcrystalline cellulose in an amount of 3 to 5 weight percent was mixed with a balanced amount of water to form a mixture of 300 μL to 500 μL. This mixture was then poured into a mold, and a drying process was performed on the mixture to obtain a freeze-dried sample.
[0043] The drying process included cooling, vacuum treatment, and heating. Cooling involved using a freezer to lower the temperature of the freeze-drying sample to below -40°C. Vacuum treatment involved using a vacuum pump to lower the pressure in the freezer to below 200 torr. Heat treatment involved using a heating system to raise the temperature of the mixture to 30°C while maintaining a vacuum pressure, and maintaining this temperature and pressure for 3 to 4 days to sublimate the frozen water. Manufacturing Examples 2-7
[0044] The manufacturing methods for the freeze-dried samples in Production Examples 2 to 7 were the same as in Production Example 1, but in Production Examples 2 to 7, microcrystalline cellulose was replaced with chicory fiber, HPMC, CMC, chitin, chitosan, maltodextrin, and trehalose, respectively. The types of sugar excipients used in Production Examples 1 to 7 are recorded in Table 1. Evaluation method molding percentage
[0045] The molding percentage of freeze-dried samples is calculated as the percentage of the total number of freeze-dried samples that have the complete mold shape after being molded in a mold and undergoing the drying process. A freeze-dried sample with the complete mold shape is defined as one in which the volume difference between the freeze-dried sample shape and the mold shape is 90% or less. A higher molding percentage of freeze-dried samples indicates higher moldability of the freeze-dried samples. The evaluation results for Manufacturing Examples 1 to 7 are recorded in Table 1. Crushing percentage
[0046] The percentage of lyophilized samples being crushed is determined by demolding a lyophilized sample with a perfect mold shape (for example, by lightly touching it with a hand or clip and applying appropriate force) and moving it approximately 15 centimeters. The percentage of the number of crushed lyophilized samples compared to the number of lyophilized samples with a perfect mold shape is then evaluated. A lyophilized sample is defined as a lyophilized sample that has been crushed after movement, and the volume of the largest remaining fragment is less than 90 volume percent of the volume of the lyophilized sample with a perfect mold shape. The evaluation results for Production Examples 1 to 7 are recorded in Table 1. Formability
[0047] Moldability is evaluated by comprehensively assessing the moldability percentage and crushing percentage of the freeze-dried sample. The evaluation results for Production Examples 1 to 7 are recorded in Table 1. "×" indicates that the freeze-dried sample has low moldability, with a moldability percentage of 50% or less, or a crushing percentage of 20% or more. "○" indicates that the freeze-dried sample has high moldability, with a moldability percentage greater than 50% and a crushing percentage less than 20%, but with the moldability percentage being less than 80% or the crushing percentage greater than 10%. "◎" indicates that the freeze-dried sample has excellent moldability, with a moldability percentage greater than 80% and a crushing percentage less than 5%.
[0048] [Table 1]
[0049] As shown in Table 1, microcrystalline cellulose has low moldability, chicory fiber, HPMC, CMC, and chitin have high moldability, and maltodextrin and trehalose have excellent moldability. To elaborate, cyclodextrin has high moldability as an excipient, but when uniformly mixed with other components, it reduces the water solubility of the finished product. Apple fiber, as a water-soluble dietary fiber, can give the finished product high moldability and increase its water solubility (this was not tested using the method described above).
[0050] To elaborate, the results in Table 1 only show the moldability when sugar excipients are used alone. However, when sugar excipients are used in combination, the moldability of the resulting freeze-dried samples is affected differently. For example, when sugar excipients are used in combination with microcrystalline cellulose and CMC, the moldability is higher than when CMC is used alone. Example 2: Evaluation of the effect of different active ingredients on the water solubility of lyophilized samples. Manufacturing Example 8
[0051] 3% to 5% by weight maltodextrin, 3% to 5% by weight Aureobasidium pullulans ferment broth, and a balanced amount of water were mixed to form a mixture of 300 μL to 500 μL. The mixture was then poured into a mold, and the above drying process was performed on the mixture to obtain a freeze-dried sample. Manufacturing Examples 9-14
[0052] Production Examples 9 to 14 are similar to the production method for the freeze-dried sample in Production Example 8, but the difference is that in Production Examples 9 to 14, the Aureobasidium pullulans ferment broth is replaced with freeze-dried Cordyceps cicadae ferment broth powder, water-soluble vitamins (vitamin C and B vitamins), hyaluronic acid, collagen, amines, and vitamins (vitamin A, B vitamins, vitamin C, vitamin D, vitamin E, and vitamin K), respectively. Evaluation method water soluble
[0053] After placing the freeze-dried sample from Production Example 8 onto the skin, the freeze-dried sample was redissolved with approximately 1000 μL of water. The evaluation results are recorded in Table 2. "◎" indicates that the freeze-dried sample has excellent water solubility, dissolves very easily upon contact with water, does not form any visible clumps, and can be uniformly applied to the skin surface. "○" indicates that the freeze-dried sample has high water solubility, forming some visible clumps upon contact with water, but can be uniformly applied to the skin surface. "×" indicates that the freeze-dried sample has low water solubility, forming visible clumps upon contact with water, and cannot be uniformly applied to the skin surface.
[0054] [Table 2]
[0055] As shown in Table 2, the water solubility of Aureobasidium pullulans ferment filtrate, freeze-dried Cordyceps cicadae ferment filtrate powder, water-soluble vitamins, and hyaluronic acid is excellent, and the water solubility of collagen, amines, and multivitamins is high, all of which can be used as active ingredients in solid cosmetic compositions. Example 3: Evaluation of the effect of improving skin texture and the texture of skincare products with different formulations after application to the skin. Prescription 1
[0056] The raw materials for Formulation 1 consisted of 3 wt percent mannitol, 1.5 wt percent microcrystalline cellulose, 0.75 wt percent CMC, 1.25 wt percent succinic acid, 0.5 wt percent freeze-dried Cordyceps cicada ferment filtrate powder, 0.08 wt percent tetrahydropyrimidinium, 3 wt percent Aureobasidium pullulans ferment filtrate, and a balance amount of water. After injecting the raw materials for Formulation 1 into a mold, a drying process was carried out to produce the skincare product of Formulation 1. The “Part” skincare product described herein is a skincare product with a volume of 300 μL to 500 μL.
[0057] It should be noted that while microcrystalline cellulose has poor moldability when used alone, it can achieve high moldability and water solubility after being mixed with Formulation 1, demonstrating that microcrystalline cellulose has an excellent effect on water solubility. Prescription 2
[0058] The raw materials for Formulation 2 consisted of 3% by weight cyclodextrin, 5% by weight mannitol, 2% by weight microcrystalline cellulose, 2% by weight chitin, 5% by weight enoki mushroom water extract, and a balance amount of water. After pouring the raw materials for Formulation 2 into a mold, a drying process was carried out to manufacture the Formulation 2 skincare product. Formulation 3
[0059] Formula 3's ingredients consisted of 1 weight percent chicory fiber, 2 weight percent microcrystalline cellulose, 2 weight percent apple fiber, 4 weight percent Aureobasidium pullulans ferment filtrate, and a balance amount of water. After pouring the ingredients of Formula 3 into a mold, a drying process was carried out to manufacture the Formula 3 skincare product. Evaluation method Skin elasticity test
[0060] Test and control areas were defined on the flexor sides of the left and right forearms of the subjects, respectively, with the test and control areas facing each other. After washing the skin in the test and control areas, the elasticity of the skin in each area was measured using a moisture elasticity detector (manufacturer: ANENG). Skin elasticity was indicated on an elasticity score from 1 to 5 points. A score of 1 indicates low skin elasticity and rough skin texture, a score of 2 indicates slightly low skin elasticity and slightly rough skin texture, a score of 3 indicates normal skin elasticity and normal skin texture, a score of 4 indicates high skin elasticity and slightly fine and soft skin texture, and a score of 5 indicates excellent skin elasticity and fine and soft skin texture.
[0061] The skincare product of Formula 1 was placed on the surface of the skin in the center of the test area, dissolved in 1000 μL of water, and then uniformly applied to the skin of the test area. This was done once daily for 10 consecutive days. In addition, a commercially available skincare product was applied once daily to the skin of the control area for 10 days. This commercially available skincare product is liquid and has moisturizing properties.
[0062] On days 1, 5, and 10 after applying each skincare product, the elasticity scores of the skin in the test and control areas were evaluated using a moisture elasticity detection device. The results are recorded in Table 3.
[0063] [Table 3]
[0064] As shown in Table 3, compared to the case where no skincare product was applied (i.e., day 0), the elasticity scores of the skin in the test area and the control area were higher on days 1, 5, and 10 after applying Formula 1 skincare product and commercially available skincare product, respectively, indicating that both Formula 1 skincare product and commercially available skincare product have the effect of increasing skin elasticity. Furthermore, the elasticity score of the skin in the test area was higher than that of the control area, indicating that Formula 1 skincare product has a greater effect of increasing skin elasticity compared to commercially available skincare products, i.e., a greater effect of improving skin quality. Skin moisture test
[0065] Test and control areas were defined on the flexor sides of the left and right forearms of the subjects, respectively, with the test and control areas facing each other. After washing the skin in the test and control areas, the water content of the skin in each area was measured using a water elasticity detector (manufacturer: ANENG). It should be noted that the water content of the skin on the flexor side of the forearm of the human body varies with the seasons; in summer, the water content is usually 35% to 60%, and in winter, it is usually 30% to 45%. This test was conducted in winter.
[0066] A portion of the Formula 1 skincare product was placed on the surface of the skin in the center of the test area, dissolved in 11,000 μL of water, and then uniformly applied to the skin in the test area. A commercially available skincare product was also applied to the skin in the control area. At 10, 20, 40, and 60 minutes after application of the Formula 1 skincare product and the commercially available skincare product, the water content of the skin in the test area and the control area was re-evaluated using a water elasticity detector.
[0067] Figure 1 shows the skin water content at different times in a test area and a control area in one embodiment of the present invention. The horizontal axis represents time (in minutes), and the vertical axis represents water content (in minutes). Straight bars 110 and 130 represent commercially available skincare products and the skincare product of Formulation 1, respectively.
[0068] As shown in Figure 1, the skin in the test area and the control area had higher moisture content after applying the skincare product of Formula 1 and the commercially available skincare product compared to the case where no product was applied (i.e., day 0). Furthermore, the skin in the test area had higher moisture content than the control area. From this, it can be seen that all of the skincare products of Formula 1 and the commercially available skincare product have moisturizing effects, and the moisturizing effect of the skincare product of Formula 1 is higher than that of the commercially available skincare product. Evaluation of skin texture after applying skincare products to the skin.
[0069] A test area and a control area were defined on the flexor side of the left and right forearms of the subjects, respectively, with the test area and the control area facing each other. After washing the skin of the test area and the control area, one portion of the skincare product of Formulation 1 was placed on the surface of the skin in the center of the test area, dissolved in 1000 μL of water, and then uniformly applied to the skin of the test area. Meanwhile, a commercially available skincare product was applied to the skin of the control area.
[0070] Immediately after applying Formula 1 skincare product and a commercially available skincare product to the skin, and 20 minutes later, subjects were asked to subjectively evaluate whether the texture of Formula 1 skincare product and the commercially available skincare product was sticky, slightly sticky, slightly refreshing, or refreshing. Subjects felt that the texture of the commercially available skincare product after application was sticky, and that the skin in the control area was still slightly sticky even after 20 minutes, but they felt that the texture of Formula 1 skincare product after application was refreshing, and that the skin in the test area was still refreshing even after 20 minutes.
[0071] In summary, the above-mentioned specific sugar excipients, specific active ingredients, specific drying steps, specific processes, or specific evaluation methods are used solely to illustrate the solid cosmetic composition and its manufacturing method of the present invention. However, those skilled in the art will understand that other sugar excipients, other active ingredients, other drying steps, other processes, or other evaluation methods may be used in the solid cosmetic composition and its manufacturing method of the present invention, without departing from the spirit and scope of the present invention, and are not limited thereto. For example, other combinations of sugar excipients or other combinations of active ingredients may be used, as long as they do not affect the moldability and water solubility of the solid cosmetic composition.
[0072] As can be seen from the above examples, the solid cosmetic composition and its manufacturing method of the present invention, using specific sugar excipients and specific active ingredients, not only have moldability and water solubility, but also advantages such as being easy to carry, preservative-free, and having minimal waste, and can give the skin a refreshing texture and improve skin quality, and can be applied to the manufacture of various cosmetic / skincare products, especially travel-friendly cosmetic / skincare products.
