AI Technical Summary

Technical Problem

Conventional methods for assembling Halbach array rotors face challenges in automating the assembly process due to repulsive forces between pre-magnetized magnets, requiring manual labor and separate bonding materials, which increases costs and reduces magnetic performance.

Method used

A system and method that automates the assembly process by using a magnet pre-magnetization device to orient individual magnets and a clamping jig device to fix them to a hub, incorporating a controller for coordinated operation, minimizing repulsive forces and eliminating the need for separate bonding.

Benefits of technology

The system enables efficient, automated assembly of Halbach array rotors with improved uniform performance and reduced costs by overcoming inter-magnet repulsion and eliminating the need for separate bonding processes.

Abstract

This invention provides a Halbach array rotor manufacturing system and method that automates the Halbach array assembly process of magnets by linking a magnet pre-magnetization device, which pre-magnetizes individual, unmagnetized magnets to match their orientation, with a clamping jig device, which individually fixes the magnetized magnets to a hub. The present invention provides a Halbach array rotor manufacturing system that includes a magnet pre-magnetization device which places unmagnetized magnets on holders arranged radially on an index, pre-magnetizes the individual magnets via automated equipment installed for each rotation section in the one-sided rotation direction, and then inserts them into a hub; a clamping jig device which connects the hub to a circular array jig and fixes the individual magnets placed on the outer surface of the hub through corresponding magnet clamping units; and a controller which interlocks the magnet pre-magnetization device and the clamping jig device to magnetize the unmagnetized magnets to match their orientation, and then assembles the magnetized magnets in the hub to match the magnetization direction of the Halbach array.
