[Solution] A battery identification device for identifying the type of battery unit 20 which holds a plurality of unit batteries (battery cells) in a case, comprising a battery housing recess (slot) that accommodates the battery unit 20 so that it can be inserted and removed in a first direction, and a magnetic detection unit (magnetic element array substrate 530) of a magnetic field characteristic measuring unit which measures the magnetic field generated by applying an identification current to the battery unit 20 is provided on the wall portion (lower wall) of the slot facing the outer surface (lower surface) of the battery unit 20.
