[0034] Detailed Description of the Invention It should be understood that for simplicity and clarity of the diagrams, the things shown in the diagrams have not necessarily been drawn to scale, by way of example only, some parts may be relatively exaggerated compared to other parts for ease of understanding, and further, where considered appropriate, reference numerals may be repeated among the diagrams to indicate corresponding or analogous elements.
[0035] In the following description, various aspects of the present invention are described. For the purposes of explanation, specific configurations and details are described to enhance the understanding of the present invention. However, it is clear that a person skilled in the art can use the present invention without the specific details described herein. Furthermore, well-known matters are omitted or simplified to avoid obscuring the present invention. Where specific diagrams are referred to, what is shown is an example, is for the purpose of explaining the present invention only, and is described in a manner believed to be most useful and easily understood from the principles and conceptual knowledge of the invention. In this regard, no attempt is made to show structural details in more detail than is necessary for a fundamental understanding of the present invention, and the description of the diagrams will clearly show those skilled in the art how parts of the present invention are specifically represented when used.
[0036] At least one embodiment of the invention has been described in detail, with the understanding that the invention is not limited in use to the detailed structure and arrangement of parts shown in the description or diagrams. The invention is also applicable to other embodiments that can be used or implemented in various combinations of the disclosed embodiments. It is also to be understood that the terms and terminology used herein are for purposes of description and not limitation.
[0037] In some embodiments of the present invention, there is a suspension system for a dual axle wheel assembly. The suspension system may include a subframe. The subframe may be connected to at least a portion of the suspension system and a reference frame (e.g., chassis) of the vehicle. The suspension system includes the subframe and a first arm connected to the subframe that can rotate about a first axis. The suspension system includes a first connector of the wheel connected to the first arm about which the first dual axle wheel assembly rotates when connected to the first connector. The first connector axis may be parallel to the first axis. The suspension system includes a second arm connected to the subframe about which the subframe can rotate on a second axis. The second axis may be parallel to the first axis. The suspension system includes a second connector connected to the second arm with a second container axis about which the dual axle wheel assembly can rotate when connected to the second container. The second container axis may be parallel to the second axis. The suspension system may include a motion restraint strap interconnecting the first arm and the second arm. The motion restraint strap may be disposed along an axis parallel to a longitudinal side of the axis of the subframe. By way of example, the longitudinal axis of the motion restraint strap may be or is parallel to the longitudinal axis of the subframe.
[0038] In various embodiments, the motion inhibition strap is coupled to the subframe to maintain or substantially maintain an orientation as the motion inhibition strap moves with the subframe. In some embodiments, the motion inhibition strap is coupled to the subframe to allow the motion inhibition strap to move in a direction that is substantially parallel to a longitudinal axis of the subframe. In some embodiments, the motion inhibition strap is slidable toward the subframe. In some embodiments, the motion inhibition strap is positioned to span a portion of the subframe.
[0039] In some embodiments, the motion inhibition strap is connected to the first arm using a first linkage and to the second arm using a second linkage. Both the first linkage and the second linkage include at least one link. In some embodiments, both the first linkage and the second linkage include a rocker linkage. In some embodiments, neither the first linkage nor the second linkage is coupled to the subframe. In some embodiments, both the first linkage and the second linkage are coupled to the subframe.
[0040] The motion restraint may prevent displacement and / or relative velocity of at least one of the first arm and the second arm. The motion restraint may transfer a load applied to the first arm to the second arm and transfer a load applied to the second arm to the first arm. For example, the motion restraint may be connected to the first connector and the second connector, respectively, and may urge a first wheel and a second wheel of a dual axle assembly connected to a road surface by applying a force to the first arm and the second arm. For example, the motion restraint may urge the first wheel and the second wheel toward the road surface to maintain traction of the first wheel and the second wheel on the road surface when one of the first and second wheels drops below the other wheel or when the subframe or the reference frame of the vehicle suddenly drops (e.g., due to a dent or hole in the road surface).
[0041] According to some embodiments of the invention, two or more suspension systems may be assembled on opposite longitudinal outer sides of a reference frame of a vehicle with two or more opposed dual axle wheel assemblies. The suspension systems may be assembled on opposite longitudinal outer sides of the reference frame such that no parts of the suspension systems are located below or above the reference frame of the vehicle. Any of the two or more suspension systems may provide respective suspension for the two or more dual axle wheel assemblies. The suspension systems may be assembled on opposite longitudinal outer sides of the reference frame without protruding or substantially protruding into the reference frame. The suspension systems may be located at least partially within the rims of the dual axle wheel assemblies.
[0042] The motion restraint strip may be substantially parallel to the longitudinal axis of the subframe, maintaining its orientation with the subframe and substantially eliminating longitudinal movement of the motion restraint strip on the subframe. The restraint band may be coupled to the subframe for movement in a direction substantially parallel to the longitudinal axis of the subframe.
[0043] Thus, a reference frame assembled with a suspension system according to an embodiment of the present invention may be substantially horizontal and / or significantly lower than a reference frame assembled with a particular current suspension system. For example, a lower reference frame may have a lower center of mass, thereby improving stability on roads and / or facilitating loading and unloading of goods without the use of forklifts or loading ramps. A flat reference frame may allow for a wider range of reference frame designs. For example, because the suspension system according to an embodiment of the present invention is assembled on the outer longitudinal surface of the reference frame and has no parts above and below the reference frame, the suspension system is not dependent on the shape of the reference frame.
[0044] In some embodiments, the suspension system includes a drivetrain unit. In some embodiments, the drivetrain unit includes a motor and transmission assembly for transmitting rotation by the motor to at least the first connector and the second connector of the suspension system. For example, the motor is connected to the subframe since the motor may be a sprung mass. For example, the parts of the transmission assembly are mounted in the first arm and / or the second arm of the suspension system. For example, this is a compact driven suspension system. The drivetrain unit may include a controller that functions as coupling and decoupling of the transmission assembly and / or control motor for starting and stopping the transmission assembly (e.g., rotation speed of the motor). The drivetrain unit of a suspension system assembled on a vehicle may be controlled separately from the drivetrain units of other suspension systems. For example, improving the steering of the vehicle.
[0045] The following diagrams and descriptions depict embodiments of a dual axle wheel assembly suspension system, each of which may include features of other embodiments, and embodiments not specifically described may include various features described herein.
[0046] Reference is now made to Figures 1A, 1B and 1C, which are schematic illustrations of a dual axle wheel assembly suspension system 100 in accordance with some uses of the present invention.
[0047] Reference is also made to FIG. 1D, which is a schematic diagram of a dual axle wheel assembly suspension system 100 in which wheel connectors 112, 122 are disposed at the ends of arms 110, 120 of the suspension system 100 in accordance with some uses of the present invention.
[0048] Figures 1A and 1D are schematic side views of suspension system 100. Figure 1B is a schematic front view of suspension system 100 (as defined in Figure 1A). Figure 1C is a schematic top view of suspension system 100 (as defined in Figure 1A). The side, front and top schematic views are shown in Figures 1A, 1B, 1C and 1D depending on the orientation of the vehicle assembled with suspension system 100.
[0049] According to some embodiments, the suspension system 100 includes a subframe 105, a first arm 110, a first connector 112, a second arm 120, a second connector 122, a motion inhibition strap 130, a first linkage 140, a second linkage 150, and a multiple pivot connection 160.
[0050] The subframe 105 may be a structural element that may connect the suspension system 100 to a portion of the vehicle's frame of reference (e.g., chassis). The subframe 105 may have a longitudinal axis 101, a longitudinal axis 102, and a vertical reference plane 103. The longitudinal axis 101 may be parallel (or substantially parallel) to any longitudinal axis of the vehicle's frame of reference when the suspension system 100 is installed therein. The longitudinal axis 102 may be perpendicular to the axis 101. The longitudinal axis 102 of the suspension system 100 may be parallel (or substantially parallel) to any longitudinal axis of the vehicle's frame of reference when the suspension system 100 is installed therein. The longitudinal reference plane 103 may be parallel (or substantially parallel) to any vertical plane of the vehicle's frame of reference when the suspension system 100 is installed therein. In some embodiments, the subframe 105 is part of the vehicle's frame of reference. The reference frame may be, for example, the vehicle's chassis.
[0051] The first arm 110 is connected to the subframe 105 and is rotatable when the subframe 105 is on the first axis 161a side. For example, the first arm 110 is rotatably connected to the subframe 105 at one end 110a thereof using a first pivot connection portion 161.
[0052] A first connector 112 is connected to the first arm 110 and has a first connector axis 112a about which the first wheel 92 of the dual axle wheel assembly may rotate when connected to the first connector 112. The first connector 112a may be parallel or substantially parallel to the first axis 161a. Examples of the first connector 112 include a wheel knuckle, a wheel upright, a wheel hub, a wheel bearing, and the like.
[0053] The second arm 120 is connected to the subframe 105, and the subframe 105 is rotatable about a second axis 162a. For example, the second arm 120 is rotatably connected at one end 120a to the subframe 105 using a second pivot connection 162. The second axis 162a may be parallel or substantially parallel to the first axis 161a.
[0054] The second connector 122 connects to the second arm 120 and has a second connector axis 120a that may rotate when the second wheel 94 of the dual wheel assembly 90 is connected to the second connector 122. The second connector axis 122a may be parallel or substantially parallel to the second axis 162a. Examples of the second connector axis 122a include a wheel knuckle, a wheel upright, a wheel hub, a wheel bearing, etc.
[0055] The motion inhibition strap 130 may interconnect the first arm 110 and the second arm 120. In some embodiments, the motion inhibition strap 130 may not be coupled to the subframe 105 (e.g., as shown in FIGS. 1A, 1B, 1C, and 1D). The motion inhibition strap 130 may prevent the displacement and / or relative velocity of either the first arm 110 or the second arm 120. The motion inhibition strap 130 may transfer a load applied to the first arm 110 to the second arm 120, and may transfer a load applied to the second arm 120 to the first arm 110. For example, the motion inhibition strap 130 may push the first wheel 92 and the second wheel 94, which are connected to the first connector 112 and the second connector 122, respectively, toward the road surface by applying a force to the first arm 110 and the second arm 120. In this way, if either the first wheel 92 or the second wheel 94 is lower than the other and the subframe 105 or reference frame suddenly drops (e.g., due to a bump or hole in the road surface), the first wheel 92 and the second wheel 94 of the dual axle wheel assembly 90 on the road surface will not move. For example, traction on two wheels 94 may be maintained.
[0056] In some embodiments, the motion inhibition band 130 is a linear inhibition band. For example, the motion inhibition band 130 includes a linear (e.g., elastic) shock absorber 132 mounted on a spring 134 (e.g., as shown in FIGS. 1A, 1C, 1D, and 1E). In some embodiments, the motion inhibition band 130 includes a damper. In some embodiments, the motion inhibition band 130 includes a spring damper. In some embodiments, the motion inhibition band 130 includes an inerter. In some embodiments, the motion inhibition band 130 is a rotational inhibition band and includes a rotational shock absorber and a rotational spring. For example, the rotational spring is a torque-based spring. In some embodiments, the rotational motion inhibition band includes a rotational damper. In some embodiments, the rotational motion inhibition band includes a rotational inerter.
[0057] In some embodiments, the motion inhibition strap 130 is connected to the first arm 110 using a first linkage 140 and to the second arm 120 using a second linkage 150 .
[0058] In some embodiments, the first linkage 140 includes a firm link 141 and the second linkage 150 includes a second link 151 (e.g., as shown in Figs. 1A, 1B, 1C, 1D, and 1E). In some embodiments, the first link 141 is rotatably connected to the first arm 110 and the motion inhibition band 130. For example, the first link 141 may be rotatably connected at the second end 110b at the first end 141a of the first arm 110 using a third pivot connection 163, and rotatably connected at the first end 130a at the second end 141b of the motion inhibition band 130 using a fourth pivot connection 164. The first link 141 and the first arm 110 may rotate relative to each other about a third axis 163a that is parallel (or substantially parallel) to the first axis 161a. The first link 141 and the motion inhibition band 130 may rotate relative to each other about a fourth axis 164a that is parallel (or substantially parallel) to the first axis 161a.
[0059] In some embodiments, the second link 151 is rotatably connected to the second arm 120 and rotatably connected to the motion inhibiting band 130. For example, the second link 151 is rotatably connected to the second end 120b of the second arm 120 at the fifth end 151a of the second arm using a fifth pivot connection 165, and is rotatably connected to the second end 130b at the second end 151b of the motion inhibiting band 130 using a sixth pivot connection 166. The second link 151 and the second arm 120 may each be rotatable about a fifth axis 165a that is parallel (or substantially parallel) to the second axis 162a. The second link 151 and the motion inhibiting band 130 may each be rotatable about a sixth axis 166a that is parallel (or substantially parallel) to the second axis 162a.
[0060] In some embodiments, the first linkage 140 and the second linkage 150 are not coupled to the subframe 105 (e.g., as shown in FIGS. 1A, 1B, 1C, 1D, and 1E). In some embodiments, the first link 141 and the second link 151 are not coupled to the subframe 105.
[0061] The position of the first connector 112 along the first arm 110 and / or the position of the second connector 122 along the second arm 120 may be pre-adjusted based on the application of the suspension system 100 and / or the application of the vehicle to be assembled with the suspension system 100.
[0062] As shown in FIG. 1A, the first connector 112 includes a first shaft 161a and a first pivot connection portion. For example, the second connector 122 may be located between the second shaft 162a / second pivot connection portion 162 and the fifth shaft 165a / fifth pivot connection portion 165 and may be located closer to the fifth shaft 165a / fifth pivot connection portion 165 than the second shaft 162a / second pivot connection portion 162.
[0063] 1D , for example, the first connector 112 may be adjacent to the second end 110B of the first arm 110, and the third axis 163a / third pivot connection 163 may be between the first axis 161a / first pivot connection 161 and the first connector 112. The second connector 112 may be adjacent to the second end 120b of the second arm 120, and the fifth axis 165a / fifth pivot connection 165 may be between the second axis 162a / second pivot connection 162 and the second connector 122.
[0064] The positions of the first axle 161a / first pivot connection 161 and the second axle 162a / second pivot connection 162 may be pre-adjusted based on the application of the suspension system 100 and / or the application of the vehicle on which the suspension system 100 is assembled.
[0065] In some embodiments, the first axis 161a / first pivot connection 161 and the second axis 162a / second pivot connection 162 lie along a longitudinal axis 104 that is parallel or substantially parallel to the longitudinal axis 102 of the subframe 105 (e.g., as shown in FIG. 1A). The longitudinal axis 102 of the subframe 105 may be perpendicular or substantially perpendicular to the first axis 161a and the second axis 162a. The first axis 161a / first pivot connection 161 and the second axis 162a / second pivot connection 162 may also be pre-adjusted in distance along the longitudinal axis 104 (e.g., as shown in FIG. 1A).
[0066] In some embodiments, the first axis 161a is coextensive with the second axis 162a (e.g., as shown in FIG. 1I). By way of example, the first end 110A, 120A of the first arm 110, and the second arm 120 are each rotatably connected to the subframe 105 using the same pivot connection (e.g., the first pivot connection 161 or the second pivot connection 162, e.g., as shown in FIGS. 1I and 1J).
[0067] In various embodiments, the size of one or more of the first arm 110 and the second arm 120 and / or the size of one or more of the first linkage 140 and the second linkage 150 are adjustable. The adjustments can be made prior to installation of the suspension system 100 on a vehicle, during the lifetime of the suspension system 100, or can be made at any time while the vehicle is in operation. For example, the adjustments can be based on the type and / or size and / or weight limitations of the vehicle. For example, the adjustments can be based on the wheel size of the vehicle's dual axle wheel assembly. For example, the adjustments can be based on the location of the suspension system 100 relative to the vehicle's frame of reference.
[0068] The pivot connection 160 may include a connection that rotates about at least one axis. By way of example, the pivot connection 160 may include a bearing, a bushing, a hinge, a joint, and the like. The pivot connection 160 may rotate a component of the suspension system 100 about an axis that is parallel or substantially parallel to the first axis 161a and the second axis 162a. Such components may include at least one of the first arm 110, the second arm 120, the motion inhibition strap 130, a component of the first linkage 140, and a component of the second linkage 150.
[0069] The pivot connection 160 is parallel or parallel to the vertical reference plane 103 of the subframe 105. The vertical reference plane 103 may cause the components of the suspension system 100 to rotate in one or more planes that are substantially parallel. The vertical reference plane 103 may be perpendicular or substantially perpendicular to the first axis 161 a and the second axis 162 a. The vertical reference plane 103 may be parallel or substantially parallel to the plane in which the first wheel 92 and the second wheel 94 of the dual axle wheel assembly 90 rotate when connected to the first connector 212 and the second connector 222, respectively.
[0070] The size of the first arm 110, the second arm 120, the components of the first linkage 140 and the components of the second linkage 150, the pivot connection 160 and the location of the pivot connection 160 may be configured to cause a linear or substantially linear displacement of the first connector 112 and the second connector 122 along an axis parallel or substantially parallel to the vertical axis 101 of the subframe 105 (e.g., an axis perpendicular or substantially perpendicular to the first axis 161a and the second axis 162). For example, the size of the first arm 110, the second arm 120, the components of the first linkage 140 and the components of the second linkage 150, the pivot connection 160 and the location of the pivot connection 160 may be configured to cause a rotation of the first arm 110 and the second arm 120 within a range of negative 30° to 30° relative to the vertical axis 104.
[0071] In some embodiments (e.g., as shown in FIGS. 1A, 1B, 1C, 1D), the motion inhibition strap 130 is not coupled to the subframe 105, and the first linkage 140 and the second linkage 150 are not coupled to the subframe 105, thereby allowing the motion inhibition strap 130 to move freely relative to the subframe 105. In this manner, when a force is applied to the motion inhibition strap 130 by one of the first connector 112 and the second connector 122 (e.g., through the respective first linkage 140 or second linkage 150, respectively), the motion inhibition strap 130 increases the force applied to the other connector of the first connector 112 and the second connector 122 (e.g., through the respective linkage), thereby increasing traction of the wheels of the dual axle wheel assembly to the road.
[0072] Reference is also made to FIG. IE, which is a schematic diagram of a dual axle wheel assembly suspension system 100 having a motion restraint strap 130 coupled to a subframe 105 of the suspension system 100, in accordance with some embodiments of the present invention.
[0073] In some embodiments, the motion inhibition strap 130 is parallel or substantially parallel to the longitudinal axis 102 of the subframe 105. In some embodiments, the motion inhibition strap 130 is coupled to the subframe 105. In some embodiments, the motion inhibition strap 130 is coupled to the subframe 105, such that the motion inhibition strap 130 maintains or substantially maintains the orientation of the subframe 105 as the motion inhibition strap 130 moves with the subframe 105. In some embodiments, the motion inhibition strap 130 is coupled to the subframe 105, such that the motion inhibition strap 130 moves in a direction substantially parallel to the longitudinal axis 102 of the subframe 105. In some embodiments, the motion inhibition strap 130 is slidable toward the subframe 105. In some embodiments, the motion inhibition strap 130 is coupled to the subframe 105, such that the motion inhibition strap 130 significantly reduces the slippage of the motion inhibition strap 130 along the longitudinal axis 101 of the subframe 105 compared to embodiments in which the motion inhibition strap 130 is coupled to the subframe 105.
[0074] For example, the motion inhibiting strap 130 may be coupled to the subframe 105 using a first motion inhibiting strap link 170 and a second motion inhibiting strap link 180. The first motion inhibiting strap link 170 may be rotatably connected to the motion inhibiting strap 130 and to the subframe 105. For example, the first motion inhibiting strap link 170 may be rotatably connected at a first end 170a of the motion inhibiting strap 130 using a fourth pivot connection 164, and at a second end 170b to the subframe 105 using a seventh pivot connection 167. One motion restraint belt link 170 may be rotatable relative to the motion restraint belt 130, for example, about a fourth axis 164a, and may be rotatable relative to the subframe 105, for example, about a seventh axis 167a that is parallel or substantially parallel to the first axis 161a.
[0075] The second motion restraint link 180 is a rotatable motion restraint link. 130 and the subframe 105. For example, the second motion inhibition strap linkage 180 may be rotatably connected at a first end 180a to a second end 130b of the motion inhibition strap 130, for example using a sixth pivot connection 166, and at a second end 180b to the subframe 105, for example using an eighth pivot connection 168. The second motion inhibition strap linkage 180 may be rotatable relative to the motion inhibition strap 130, for example about a sixth axis 166a, and may be rotatable relative to the subframe 105, for example about an eighth axis 168a that is parallel or substantially parallel to the second axis 162a.
[0076] The size of the first and second motion inhibitor links 170, 180, the location of the seventh pivot connection 167 / seventh axis 167a, and the location of the eighth pivot axis 168 / eighth axis 168a are set to move the motion inhibitor 130 parallel to the longitudinal axis 102 of the subframe 105 while maintaining the motion inhibitor 130 substantially parallel to the longitudinal axis 102. By way of example, the size of the first and second motion inhibitor links 170, 180, the location of the seventh pivot connection 167 / seventh axis 167a, and the location of the eighth pivot axis 168 / eighth axis 168a may be set to provide a gradient of motion of the motion inhibitor 130 relative to the longitudinal motion inhibitor axis 136 ranging from -30° to 30°.
[0077] In some embodiments where motion restraints 130 are coupled to the subframe 105, for example a two-sided integrated spring and damper motion restraint may have additional degrees of angular freedom.
[0078] Reference is now made to Figures 1F, 1G and 1H, which are schematic illustrations of the suspension system 100 and two wheels 92 and 94 of the dual axle wheel assembly 90 assembled at various locations on the road 70, according to some embodiments of the present invention.
[0079] 1F, 1G, and 1H show a side view (eg, the side view defined in FIG. 1A) of suspension system 100, dual axle wheel assembly 90 including first wheel 92 and second wheel 94. FIG.
[0080] FIG. 1F shows an example in which the wheel connector plane extends to the axes 112A, 122A of the first connector 112 and the second connector 122, respectively (e.g., shown as "WCP" in FIG. 1F) and an example in which the horizontal reference plane of the subframe 105 is parallel (or substantially parallel) to the road 70 (e.g., shown as "HRP" in FIG. 1F).
[0081] 1G illustrates an example where first connector 112 has moved in a direction that is substantially perpendicular to road 70 (e.g., due to a bump in road 70), resulting in a tilted connector face angle relative to the connector face direction shown in FIG. 1A (e.g., "αWCP'"). The tilted connector face is shown in FIG. 1G as WCP', and both WCP and WCP' are shown in FIG. G For clarity, the diagram is shown in Figure 1. G As illustrated in FIG. 1, the horizontal reference plane (eg, HRP) of sub-frame 105 does not change.
[0082] Suspension system 100 may prevent subframe 105 from moving in a direction substantially perpendicular to the road 70 independently of connectors 110 and 120 (eg, as shown in FIG. 1G).
[0083] For example, suspension system 100 may prevent subframe 105 from moving (e.g., through their respective arms and linkages) during movement of one or more of connectors 112 and 122 when a vertical load on connectors 112 and 122 (e.g., in a direction substantially perpendicular to roadway 70) becomes greater than a maximum load imposed by connectors 112 and 122 on motion inhibition strap 130. For example, the load on motion inhibition strap 130 may be 0.5 to 3 times the load on connectors 112 and 122.
[0084] Figure 1H illustrates an example in which first connector 112 and first end 105a of sub-frame 105 have been moved substantially perpendicular to roadway 70 causing the connector plane to be tilted at an angle αWCP' relative to the orientation of the connector plane shown in Figure 1A, and the horizontal reference plane of sub-frame 105 to be tilted at an angle αHRP relative to the orientation of the horizontal reference plane of sub-frame 105 shown in Figure 1A. The tilted connector plane and tilted horizontal reference plane are labeled WCP'' and HRP', respectively, in Figure 1H, and both WCP'' and HRP' are also labeled in Figure 1H for clarity.
[0085] The suspension system 100 may limit the angle of the subframe 105 in response to movement of the connectors 110 and 120 in a substantially perpendicular direction to the road 70, which may result in a smaller angle of the wheel connector axis αWCP′, as the tilt of the horizontal reference plane αHRP of the subframe 105 (e.g., as shown in FIG. 1H) HRP is at least 50% (e.g., at least 70% or 90%) smaller than αWCP' road 70 For example, the angle of the subframe 105 may be limited in response to movement of the connectors 110 and 120 in a direction substantially perpendicular to the axis of the connector 110 .
[0086] The suspension system 100 may reduce the αHRP angle of the horizontal reference plane of the subframe 105 to null within one minute (e.g., within 45 seconds or within 20 seconds) (e.g., by the connectors 110 and 120 moving substantially perpendicular to the road 70).
[0087] For example, the location of at least some of the pivot connections 160 and / or the distance between some of the pivot connections 160 may be pre-adjusted to reduce the maximum angle αHRP and / or the travel damping time. For example, the control profile (e.g., shock absorption parameters, etc.) of the motion inhibition band 130 may be pre-adjusted to reduce the maximum angle αHRP and / or the travel damping time.
[0088] Reference is now made to FIG. 1I, which is a schematic diagram of a dual axle wheel assembly suspension system 100 in which linkages 140 and 150 of suspension system 100 include two or more linkage links in accordance with an embodiment of the present invention.
[0089] In some embodiments, the first linkage 140 includes two or more first linkage links, and the second linkage 1 5 0 includes two or more second linkage links. For example, first linkage 140 may include a first first linkage link 142 and a second first linkage link 144, and second linkage 150 may include a first second linkage link 152 and a second second linkage link 154.
[0090] The first linkage link 142 may be rotatably connected to the first arm 110. In some embodiments, the first linkage link 142 may be rotatably connected to the first arm 110 at a first end 142a. The cage link 142 may be rotatably connected to the second end 110b of the first arm 110 using, for example, a third pivot connection 163. The first linkage link 142 and the first arm 110 may rotate about a third axis 163a.
[0091] The second first linkage link 144 may be rotatably connected to the motion inhibition band 130. In some embodiments, the second first linkage link 144 may be rotatably connected from the first end 144a to the first end 130a of the motion inhibition band 130, for example, using a fourth pivot connection 164. The second first linkage link and the motion inhibition band 130 may rotate about a fourth axis 164a.
[0092] The second first linkage link 144 may be rotatably connected to the first first linkage link 142. In some embodiments, the second first linkage link 144 may be rotatably connected to the first first linkage link 142 at its second end 144b, such as at the second end 142B using a ninth pivot connection 169. The second first linkage link 144 and the first linkage 142 may rotate about a ninth axis 169a. The ninth axis 169a may be parallel or substantially parallel to the first axis 161a.
[0093] The first second linkage link 152 may be rotatably connected to the second arm 120. In some embodiments, the first second linkage link 152 may be rotatably connected to the second arm 120 at its first end 152a. For example, the first second linkage link 152 may be rotatably connected to the second end 120b of the second arm 120 using, for example, a fifth pivot connection 165. The first second linkage link 152 and the second arm 120 may rotate about a fifth axis 165a.
[0094] The second linkage link 154 is rotatably connected to the motion inhibition band 130. In some embodiments, for example, the sixth pivot connection 16 6 15, the second linkage link 154 is rotatably connected at a first end 154a to a second end 130b of the motion inhibition strap 130. The second linkage link 154 and the motion inhibition strap 130 may rotate about a sixth axis 166a.
[0095] The second second linkage link 154 is rotatably connected to the first second linkage link 152 at a second end 154b. In some embodiments, the second second linkage link 154 is rotatably connected to the first second linkage link 152 at a second end 154b and can be pivoted to the first second linkage link 152 at the second end 154b using, for example, a tenth pivot connection 1610. 5 2 b The second second linkage link 154 and the first second linkage link 152 may rotate relative to one another about a tenth axis 1610a.
[0096] In some embodiments, the first linkage 140 includes a third first linkage link 146 and the second linkage 150 includes a third second linkage link 156 .
[0097] The third first linkage link 146 may be rotatably connected to the subframe 105. In some embodiments, the third first linkage link 146 is rotatably connected to the subframe 105 at a first end 146a, for example, using an eleventh pivot connection 1611. The third first linkage link 146 may rotate relative to the subframe about the eleventh pivot connection 1611, which is parallel or substantially parallel to the first axis 161a.
[0098] The third first linkage link 146 may be rotatably connected to the first first linkage link 142 and / or the second first linkage link 144. In various embodiments, the third first linkage link 146 may be rotatably connected to the first first linkage link 142 and / or the second first linkage link 144 at the second end 146B. For example, the third first linkage link 146 may be rotatably connected to the second end 142B and the second end 144b of the first first linkage link 142 at the second end 146b of the first first linkage link 142, for example, using a ninth pivot connection 169. For example, the third first linkage link 146 may rotate about the ninth axis 169 from the first first linkage link 142 and / or the second first linkage link 144.
[0099] The third second linkage link 156 may be rotatably connected to the subframe 105. In some embodiments, the third second linkage link 156 may be connected to the subframe 105 at a first end 156a using, for example, a twelfth pivot connection 1612. The third second linkage link 156 may rotate relative to the subframe 105 about a twelfth pivot connection 1612a that is parallel or substantially parallel to the second axis 162a.
[0100] The third second linkage link 156 may be rotatably connected to the first second linkage link 152. In some embodiments, the third second linkage link 156 may be rotatably connected at the second end 156b to the first second linkage link 152 and / or the second second linkage link 154. For example, the third second linkage link 156 may be rotatably connected at the second end 156b to the second end 152B, the second end 154b of the first second linkage link 152, and the second second linkage link 154, respectively, using, for example, a tenth pivot connection 1610. The third second linkage link 156 and the first second linkage link 152 and / or the second second linkage link 154 may rotate about a tenth axis 1610a.
[0101] It is noted that other numbers of linkage links and other pivot connections of the first linkage 140 and second linkage 150 and / or the first arm 110 and second arm 120 may be used.
[0102] In some embodiments, the first axis 161a coincides with the second axis 162a, as shown in FIG. one End 120 a For example, the pivot connection 161 may be rotatably connected to the subframe 105 using the same pivot connection (e.g., the first pivot connection 161 or the second pivot connection 162).
[0103] Reference is now made to FIG. 1J, which is a schematic diagram of a dual axle wheel assembly suspension system 100 in which linkages 140 and 150 of the suspension system 100 include rocker links, according to some embodiments of the present invention.
[0104] In some embodiments, the first linkage 140 includes a first link 147 and a first rocker link 148, and the second linkage 150 includes a second link 157 and a second rocker link 158. In some embodiments, the motion restraint strap 130 is attached to the subframe 105 by the first rocker link 14 8 and second rocker link 15 8 (as described below in FIG. 1J).
[0105] The first link 147 is connected to the first arm 11 To 0 In some embodiments, the first link 147 may be rotatably connected at the first end 147a of the first arm 110 to the second end 110b using a third pivot connection 163. The first link 147 and first arm 110 may rotate about a third axis 163a, for example.
[0106] The first rocker link 148 may be rotatably connected to the first link 147. In some embodiments, the first rocker link 148 may be rotatably connected to the second end 147b at the first connection point 148a of the first link 147 using a thirteenth pivot connection 1613. The first rocker link 148 and the first link 147 may rotate about the thirteenth pivot connection 1613a, which is parallel or substantially parallel to the first axis 161a.
[0107] The first rocker link 148 may be rotatably connected to the motion inhibiting band 130. In some embodiments, the first rocker link 148 of the motion inhibiting band 130 is rotatably connected to the first end 130a of the motion inhibiting band 130 at the second connection point 148b, for example using a fourteenth pivot connection 1614. The first rocker link 148 and the motion inhibiting band 130 rotate about a fourteenth axis 1614a that is parallel or substantially parallel to the first axis 161a.
[0108] In some embodiments, the first rocker link 148 is rotatably connected to the subframe 105 at the third connection point 148C, for example using a fifteenth pivot connection 1615. The first rocker link 148 may rotate relative to the subframe 105 about the fifteenth pivot connection 1615, which may be parallel or substantially parallel to the first axis 161a.
[0109] In some embodiments, the first rocker link 148 is polygonal (eg, substantially triangular) with each connection point of 148a, 148b, 148c being at one of its corners.
[0110] The second link 157 is rotatably connected to the second arm 120. In some embodiments, the second link 157 is rotatably connected at the first end 157a to the second end 120b of the second arm 120 using, for example, a fifth pivot connection 165. The second link 157 and the second arm 120 may rotate, for example, about a fifth axis 165a.
[0111] The second rocker link 158 may rotate relative to the second link 157. In some embodiments, the second rocker link 158 of the second link 157 may be rotatably connected at the first connection point 158a to the second end 157b using, for example, a sixth pivot connection 1616. The second rocker link 158 and the second link 157 may rotate about a sixteenth axis 1616a that is parallel or substantially parallel to the second axis 162a.
[0112] The second rocker link 158 may be rotatably connected to the motion inhibiting band 130. In some embodiments, the second rocker link 158 is rotatably connected to the second end 130b of the motion inhibiting band 130 at the second connection point 158b, for example, using a seventeenth pivot connection 1617. The second rocker link 158 and the motion inhibiting band 130 may rotate about a seventeenth pivot connection 1617a that is parallel or substantially parallel to the second axis 162a.
[0113] In some embodiments, the second rocker link 158 is rotatably connected to the subframe 105 at the third connection point 158c, for example using the eighteenth pivot connection 1618. The second rocker link 158 may rotate relative to the subframe 105 about the eighteenth pivot connection 1618a, which is parallel or substantially parallel to the second axis 162a.
[0114] In some embodiments, the second rocker link 158 is polygonal (eg, substantially triangular) with each connection point of 158a, 158b, 158c being at its corners.
[0115] The first rocker link 148 and the second rocker link 158 may be shaped and positioned such that the motion inhibition band 130 moves with movement of at least one of the first arm 110 and the second arm 120 to cause movement of at least one of the first arm 110 and the second arm 120 relative to the subframe 105.
[0116] The first rocker link 148 and the second rocker link 158 may be configured to transfer loads between the motion inhibition band 130 and at least one of the first arm 110 and the second arm via at least one of the first rocker link 148 and the second rocker link 158.
[0117] In some embodiments where the motion suppression strap 130 is coupled to the subframe 105 (e.g., via the first rocker link 148 and the second rocker link 158 of the first linkage 140 and the second linkage 150, respectively), the two-sided integrated spring and damper motion suppression strap is, for example, angularly flexible.
[0118] 1J, the first axis 161a coincides with the second axis 162a. one End 120 aFor example, the pivot connection 161 may be rotatably connected to the subframe 105 using the same pivot connection (e.g., the first pivot connection 161 or the second pivot connection 162).
[0119] Reference is now made to FIG. 1K, which is a schematic diagram of a dual axle wheel assembly suspension system 100, in which the suspension system 100 includes a drivetrain unit 190, according to some embodiments of the present invention.
[0120] In some embodiments, the suspension system 100 includes a drivetrain unit 190. The drivetrain unit 190 may include a motor 191 and a transmission assembly 196. The motor 191 may be connected to the subframe 105, for example. The motor 191 may be connected to the subframe 190 to make the motor 191 a sprung mass. The motor 191 may be coupled to the first connector 112 and the second connector 122 via the transmission assembly 196. The transmission assembly 196 transmits the rotation of the motor 191 to at least one of the first connector 112 and the second connector 122 to rotate the first connector 112 and the second connector 122, respectively, to move at least one of the first wheel 92 and the second wheel 94 connected to the first connector 112 and the second connector 122, respectively. The motor 191 may be, for example, an electric motor.
[0121] In some embodiments, the first shaft 161a is coupled to the second shaft 162a. By way of example, the first arm 110 and the second arm 120 may be rotatably connected at their first ends 110a and 120a, respectively, to the subframe 105 using a pivot connection 1620. The pivot 1620 is as shown in FIGS. 1A, 1B, 1C, 1D, 1I and 1F above. 1I or the second pivot connection 162. The motor 191 may be coupled to the pivot connection 1620 and may rotate the pivot connection 1620.
[0122] In some embodiments, the transmission assembly 196 may include a first transmission unit 196a and a second transmission unit 196b. The first transmission unit 196 may be mounted, for example, in the first arm 110 of the suspension system 100. The second transmission unit 196b may be mounted, for example, in the second arm 120 of the suspension system 100. In various embodiments, the first transmission unit 196 and / or the second transmission unit 196b include a transmission gear. In various embodiments, the first transmission unit 196 and / or the second transmission unit 196b include a transmission belt. In various embodiments, the first transmission unit 196 and / or the second transmission unit 196b include a transmission chain.
[0123] motor 1 91 may rotate through the pivot connection 1620 and the first transmission unit 196b, and the second transmission unit 196b may transmit the rotation to the first connector 112 and the second connector 122, respectively.
[0124] In some embodiments, motor 191 is axially coupled to either first connector 112 or second connector 122 to directly rotate the respective connector. In this manner, the need for a transmission assembly 196 may be eliminated.
[0125] In some embodiments, the suspension system 100 includes a controller 198. The controller 198 may be capable of controlling the activation and / or deactivation of the transmission assembly 196. In various embodiments, the activation and / or deactivation of the transmission assembly 196 may be performed by controlling the rotational speed of the motor 191. The activation and / or deactivation of the transmission assembly 196 may, for example, improve steering of the vehicle.
