Abstract
Description
[Technical field]
[0001] The present invention relates to hair care compositions comprising a specific nonionic surfactant, a silicone compound and an antidandruff agent. The present invention also relates to the use of such compositions to deposit the antidandruff agent on the hair and / or scalp of an individual. [Background technology]
[0002] Hair care compositions generally provide cleansing or conditioning benefits, or a combination of the two. Such compositions typically include one or more cleansing surfactants that generally aid in cleaning the hair and scalp to remove undesirable dirt, particles, and fatty materials. However, preferred hair care compositions provide more benefits than simple cleansing and conditioning. For example, it is desirable to incorporate mild surfactants into hair care compositions so that the hair care compositions are non-irritating and gentle on the scalp.
[0003] It is also desirable to incorporate various benefit agents into hair care compositions to provide benefits beyond cleansing and conditioning. For example, anti-dandruff benefits have been provided through hair care compositions. Dandruff is a problem that affects many people around the world. The condition is manifested by the shedding of clumps of dead skin cells from the scalp. These are white in color and provide an aesthetically unpleasant appearance. The contributing factors to dandruff are certain members of the Malassezia yeasts. To combat these, anti-dandruff products contain certain anti-dandruff agents with anti-fungal activity, such as piroctone olamine (Octopirox®), azole anti-fungals (e.g., climbazole, ketoconazole), selenium sulfide, or combinations thereof. However, many anti-dandruff hair care compositions do not provide sufficient anti-dandruff agent deposition during the excessive rinsing process. The anti-dandruff agents are simply rinsed off, thus providing little or no anti-dandruff benefit. Therefore, it is always desirable to efficiently deposit anti-dandruff agents onto the hair and / or scalp to provide good anti-dandruff performance.

[0068] result The average deposition amounts (for the five above experiments) are shown in Table 2 (errors represent the standard deviation of repeated measurements). [Table 2]
[0069] The data in Table 2 show that Sample 3, which contained lauroyl / myristoyl methyl glucamide, provided significantly better (p<0.01) deposition of piroctone olamine compared to Samples 1 and 2, while Sample 2 had equivalent piroctone olamine deposition to Sample 1.
[0070] Example 2 This example demonstrates the effect of silicone oil on deposition of antidandruff agents onto the scalp. All ingredients are expressed as weight percent of the total formulation and are expressed as the concentration of active ingredient. [Table 3]
[0071] method The deposition of piroctone olamine onto the artificial skin was measured using the same protocol as described in Example 1.
[0072] result The average deposition amounts (for the five above experiments) are shown in Table 3 (errors represent the standard deviation of repeated measurements). [Table 4]
[0073] Samples 5-7, which contained silicone compounds, provided significantly better (p<0.05) deposition of piroctone olamine than sample 4.
