Description

[Technical field]

[0001] The present invention relates to hair care compositions comprising certain mild surfactants and anti-dandruff agents that promote deposition of the anti-dandruff agent onto an individual's hair and / or scalp. [Background technology]

[0002] Hair care compositions generally provide cleansing or conditioning benefits, or a combination of the two. Such compositions typically include one or more cleansing surfactants that generally aid in cleaning the hair and scalp to remove undesirable dirt, particles, and fatty materials. However, preferred hair care compositions provide more benefits than simple cleansing and conditioning. For example, it is desirable to incorporate mild surfactants into hair care compositions so that the hair care compositions are non-irritating and gentle on the scalp.

[0003] It is also desirable to incorporate various benefit agents into hair care compositions to provide benefits beyond cleansing and conditioning. For example, anti-dandruff benefits have been provided through hair care compositions. Dandruff is a problem that affects many people around the world. The condition is manifested by the shedding of clumps of dead skin cells from the scalp. These are white in color and provide an aesthetically unpleasant appearance. The contributing factors to dandruff are certain members of the Malassezia yeasts. To combat these, anti-dandruff products contain certain anti-dandruff agents with anti-fungal activity, such as piroctone olamine (Octopirox®), azole anti-fungals (e.g., climbazole, ketoconazole), selenium sulfide, or combinations thereof. However, many anti-dandruff hair care compositions do not provide sufficient anti-dandruff agent deposition during the excessive rinsing process. The anti-dandruff agents are simply rinsed off, thus providing little or no anti-dandruff benefit. Therefore, it is always desirable to efficiently deposit anti-dandruff agents onto the hair and / or scalp to provide good anti-dandruff performance.

[0004] WO 2015 / 078587 discloses a composition containing as component A at least one N-alkyl-N-acylglucamine, as component B dimethiconol, as component C at least one anionic surfactant, as component D optionally at least one betaine surfactant, as component E optionally at least one further surfactant, as component F water and optionally at least one further additive as component G, which composition can be used as a hair cleansing agent.

[0005] WO 2013 / 178697 describes N-methyl-N-acylglucamines suitable as thickeners in aqueous surfactant solutions containing one or more anionic surfactants from the group including alkyl ether sulfates and alkyl sulfates, the C 12 , C 14 -Acyl group or unsaturated C 18 -Acyl group containing at least 60% by weight of N-methyl-N-acylglucamine, 12 The present application discloses N-methyl-N-acylglucamines containing less than 5% by weight of acyl groups.

[0071] The following examples are provided to facilitate understanding of the present invention and are not intended to limit the scope of the claims. EXAMPLES

[0072] Example 1 This example demonstrates improved deposition of antidandruff agents by using a combination of a polyhydroxy fatty acid amide surfactant and an ethoxylated alkyl sulfate anionic surfactant. The compositions were prepared according to the formulations detailed in Table 1. All ingredients are expressed as weight percent of the total formulation and are expressed as the concentration of active ingredient. [Table 1] a. Commercially available guar hydroxypropyltrimonium chloride has a weight average molecular weight of 1,000,000-1,500,000 g / mol and a degree of substitution of 0.16-0.20. Courtesy of Lamberti. b. Commercially available dimethiconol having a particle size of 0.2 μm from Dow Silicones Corporation. c. Commercially available dimethicone having a particle size of 10 μm from Dow Silicones Corporation. d. Capryloyl / caproyl methyl glucamide, available from Clariant under the trade name Glucotain® Clear. [Table 2]

[0073] method Citric acid was added to the sample to adjust the pH to 4.3. Approximately 0.2 grams of the test sample was placed on an artificial skin (VITRO-SKIN from IMS Testing Group). It was diluted with 1.8 mL of water and rubbed with a plastic rod for 30 seconds. The artificial skin surface was then rinsed twice with water, first with 4 mL of water for 30 seconds and then again with 4 mL of water for 30 seconds. The test sample was placed on the skin (10.75 cm 2 Deposition of piroctone olamine onto the smeared surfaces (plates) was measured using a high performance liquid chromatography method.

[0074] result The average deposition amounts (for the five above experiments) are shown in Tables 3 and 4 (errors represent the standard deviation of repeated measurements). [Table 3] [Table 4]

[0075] The data in Table 3 show that Sample 1, which contained sodium lauryl ether sulfate, provided equivalent deposition of piroctone olamine as Sample 2, which contained a polyhydroxy fatty acid amide.

[0076] Table 4 further shows that Samples 4-8, which contained a combination of sodium lauryl ether sulfate and polyhydroxy fatty acid amide, provided significantly better (p<0.05) deposition of piroctone olamine than Sample 3, which contained only sodium lauryl ether sulfate (used as a control).
