Abstract

To efficiently count an arbitrary frequency by using a storage area of a non-volatile memory.SOLUTION: An electronic controller comprises: a non-volatile memory where, with respect to each erase block, 1 is written in individual bits to erase data while 0 is written in arbitrary bits to rewrite data; and a volatile memory. Further, a counter 1 and a counter 2 are assigned to continuous addresses of the non-volatile memory in random order. Then, the electronic controller sequentially writes 0 from one of the most significant bit and the least significant bit of the counter 1 toward the other in response to a request for counting, and when 0 is written in all of the bits of the counter 1, saves a value of the counter 2 to the volatile memory and erases values of the counter 1 and the counter 2 and restores a result from adding 1 to the value of the counter 2 saved to the volatile memory, to the counter 2.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 6
