AI Technical Summary

Technical Problem

Existing martensitic stainless steels face challenges in maintaining high strength and corrosion resistance at high temperatures, particularly in environments with carbon dioxide and chloride ions, and do not adequately address strength deterioration at elevated temperatures.

Method used

A high-strength, high-temperature corrosion-resistant martensitic stainless steel with a specific chemical composition and a quenching and tempering process, including elements like C, Si, Mn, Cr, Ni, Mo, N, V, Nb, and Al, along with controlled ratios, to enhance strength and corrosion resistance.

Benefits of technology

The steel achieves a yield strength of up to 125 ksi, excellent corrosion resistance to CO2 and chloride ions at 180°C, and maintains high-temperature strength and toughness, with a uniform corrosion rate of 0.125 mm/a or less.
