Abstract
Description
[Technical Field]
[0001] The present disclosure relates to a display device. [Background technology]
[0002] 2. Description of the Related Art Conventionally, in display devices, a display panel and a flexible substrate are connected to each other.
[0003] For example, Patent Document 1 discloses a liquid crystal display device including a tape carrier package to which terminal portions around the display portion of a liquid crystal panel are connected, and a spacer that is sandwiched between the tape carrier package and a backlight panel or bezel that faces the terminal portions of the liquid crystal panel, thereby forming a gap between the display portion of the liquid crystal panel and the backlight panel or bezel. In the liquid crystal display device described in Patent Document 1, the spacer covers almost the entire area of the connection portion between the terminal portion of the liquid crystal panel and the tape carrier package, and protrudes outward beyond the outer edge of the connection portion, so that the start of bending of the TCP changes from the outer edge of the connection portion to the edge of the spacer, and by changing the direction of the force applied to the connection portion by 90°, stress concentration on the outer edge of the connection portion can be suppressed, and peeling of the tape carrier package from the terminal portion can be prevented. [0007] One aspect of the present disclosure comprises a display panel having a display portion on the front side, a flexible substrate connected to the display panel, and a panel chassis supporting the rear side of the display panel, wherein the panel chassis has a flexible substrate guide portion that protrudes from the rear side of the display panel to the front side outside the side end of the display panel, and the flexible substrate is arranged to extend outward along the flexible substrate guide portion. [Effects of the Invention]
[0008] As described above, according to the present disclosure, it is possible to provide a display device that can further prevent peeling of the flexible substrate. [Brief explanation of the drawings]
[0009] [Figure 1] FIG. 1 is a perspective view schematically showing a display device according to the present disclosure. [Figure 2] FIG. 2 is a cross-sectional view taken along the line AA in FIG. 1 when a flexible substrate is connected. [Figure 3] FIG. 3 is a cross-sectional view taken along the line BB in FIG. 1 when a flexible substrate is connected. DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
[0010] Preferred embodiments of the present disclosure will be described in detail below with reference to the drawings. Note that the embodiments described below do not unduly limit the content of the present disclosure described in the claims, and not all of the configurations described in the embodiments are necessarily essential as means for solving the problems of the present disclosure.
[0011] FIG. 1 is a perspective view that schematically shows a display device 100 according to the present disclosure. FIG. 2 is a cross-sectional view taken along line AA when a flexible substrate is connected to the display device of FIG. 1. FIG. 3 is a cross-sectional view taken along line BB when a flexible substrate is connected to the display device of FIG. 1. As shown in FIGS. 1 to 3, the display device 100 according to the present disclosure includes a display panel 10, a flexible substrate 20, and a panel chassis 30. Note that the flexible substrate 20 and the bezel 70 on the outside of the panel chassis 30 are omitted from FIG. 1 to allow a better understanding of the features of the display device 100 according to the present disclosure.
[0012] The display device 100 according to the present disclosure is incorporated as a display panel module into, for example, a television receiver, a monitor display, or other equipment.
[0013] The display panel 10 included in the display device 100 according to the present disclosure has a display unit 11 on the front surface. The display unit 11 is composed of polarizing plates 51 and 52, a TFT 53 (switching element), a CF 54 (color filter), etc., and may also include an optical sheet 50 and a backlight (not shown).
[0014] The display panel 10 is a self-luminous display panel, and may be an organic EL panel using organic light-emitting diode elements.
[0015] Furthermore, as shown in FIG. 2, the TFT 53 has an exposed portion 13 that extends outward beyond the end of the CF 54, thereby exposing part of the rear surface of the TFT 53 to the outside, and the connection portion 15 is formed in the exposed portion 13.
[0016] The flexible substrate 20 included in the display device 100 according to the present disclosure is connected to the display panel 10. One end of the flexible substrate 20 is connected to the display panel 10, and the other end is connected to a signal generating substrate 62 that generates signals to be input to the display panel 10. The flexible substrate 20 also has a driver 61.
[0017] The flexible substrate 20 is also disposed in a second portion 36 on the periphery of the display panel 10 at intervals in the front and rear directions.
[0018] The signal generating board 62 is connected to the timing control board 65 via a connecting member 64 and a terminal 63. The signal generating board 62 is a printed circuit board on which electronic components such as capacitors, resistors, and diodes are mounted, and examples of the signal generating board 62 include a source board.
[0019] The panel chassis 30 included in the display device 100 according to the present disclosure supports the rear surface of the display panel 10 near the end thereof via cushioning materials 60 and the like. A bezel 70 supports the front surface of the display panel 10 near the end thereof.
[0020] The display device 100 according to the present disclosure includes a backlight chassis 80. The backlight chassis 80 has a substantially box shape and includes a group of optical members and a reflective sheet.
[0021] The panel chassis 30 is made of a metal with high thermal conductivity, such as aluminum or iron.
[0022] 1 to 3, the panel chassis 30 has a flexible board guide portion 40 that protrudes from the rear side to the front side of the display panel 10 outside the side edge portion 12 of the display panel 10. The flexible board 20 is provided so as to extend outside the panel chassis 30 along the flexible board guide portion 40.
[0023] Without the flexible substrate guide section 40, the weight of the flexible substrate 20 and the signal generating substrate 62 connected to the flexible substrate 20 makes the flexible substrate 20 more likely to peel off from the display panel 10.
[0024] Therefore, by providing the flexible substrate guide section 40, the flexible substrate 20 is arranged to extend outward from the connection section 15 with the display panel 10 along the flexible substrate guide section 40, so that a frictional force is generated between the flexible substrate 20 and the flexible substrate guide section 40, thereby preventing the flexible substrate 20 from peeling off from the connection section 15 with the display panel 10.
[0025] In this way, the display panel 10 provided in the display device 100 according to the present disclosure has a flexible substrate guide portion 40, and therefore, in a structure in which the display panel 10 is arranged in the order of TFT 53 and CF 54 from the rear, peeling of the flexible substrate can be more effectively prevented.
[0026] Furthermore, in a high-brightness compatible structure in which the display panel 10 is arranged in the order of CF54 and TFT53 from the rear as shown in Figures 2 and 3, the flexible substrate 20 is connected to the rear surface of the TFT53, making the flexible substrate more likely to peel off. However, the display panel 10 provided in the display device 100 of the present disclosure has a flexible substrate guide portion 40, so that peeling of the flexible substrate can be more effectively prevented even if the connection portion 15 is provided on the rear surface of the display panel 10.
[0027] The latter structure shown in FIGS. 2 and 3 is more effective at preventing peeling of the flexible substrate than the former structure.
[0028] The flexible substrate guiding portion 40 may not abut against the side edge 12 of the display panel 10. As shown in Fig. 1, the portion having the flexible substrate guiding portion 40 is the portion from which the flexible substrate 20 is pulled out, and therefore does not abut against the entire surface of the side edge 12 (the lateral end of the panel, the side portion) of the display panel 10, and a gap S (spacing) is provided to allow the flexible substrate 20 to pass through.
[0029] 1 and 3, the panel chassis 30 has a display panel restricting portion 45 in a first portion 35 around the periphery of the display panel 10, which protrudes from the rear side to the front side of the display panel 10 and abuts against the side of the display panel 10 to restrict movement of the display panel 10 in the surface direction. The surface direction refers to the left and right directions and the back and front directions in FIG. 1. The panel chassis 30 also has a flexible board guide portion 40 in a second portion 36 around the periphery of the display panel 10, as shown in FIGS. 1 and 2.
[0030] The protruding length l of the flexible substrate guiding portion 40 protruding from the rear surface side to the front surface side of the display panel 10 is preferably smaller than the protruding length L of the display panel regulating portion 45 protruding from the rear surface side to the front surface side of the display panel 10. That is, l < L. The portion having the flexible substrate guiding portion 40 is smaller than the protruding length L of the display panel regulating portion 45 at other locations in order to draw out the flexible substrate 20. That is, since the convex height of the flexible substrate guiding portion 40 is lower than the convex height of the display panel regulating portion 45, the end portion of the panel chassis 30 has a shape with a notch.
[0031] As shown in FIG. 2, the tip of the flexible substrate guiding portion 40 is preferably located on the front surface side of the connection portion 15. That is, the protruding length l of the flexible substrate guiding portion 40 is preferably larger than the distance d from 31 to the connection portion 15 of the panel chassis 30. By doing so, the flexible substrate 20 becomes U-shaped in a cross-sectional view as shown in FIG. 2, and the frictional force between the flexible substrate guiding portion 40 and the flexible substrate 20 is improved, so that the peeling of the flexible substrate can be more effectively prevented.
[0032] Although each embodiment and each example of the present disclosure have been described in detail above, it will be readily apparent to those skilled in the art that many modifications are possible without substantially departing from the novel features and effects of the present disclosure. Therefore, all such modifications are intended to be included within the scope of the present disclosure.
[0036] For example, a term described at least once in the specification or drawings together with a different term having a broader or similar meaning can be replaced with that different term anywhere in the specification or drawings. Furthermore, the configuration and operation of the display device are not limited to those described in each embodiment and each example of the present disclosure, and various modifications are possible.
