Abstract

To provide a battery energy storage system allowing a BESS owner to perform appropriate BESS operation and maintenance without stopping the operation of the entire BESS considering SOH diagnosis, prediction and abnormal deterioration by extracting the deterioration parameters of the materials of the secondary batteries that constitute BESS, and a management method thereof.SOLUTION: A battery energy storage system (BESS) 15 includes a state management unit that selects a battery bank 1 with less than 50% of the total capacity to be diagnosed out of multiple battery banks 1 constituting BESS 15, and extracts the deterioration parameters of the materials constituting the selected battery bank 1, and constituting at least one of the battery cells, battery modules, and battery racks 3. When extracting the degradation parameters, the state management unit performs charging and discharging based on requests from the grid.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
