In one aspect, the information processing device may adjust the movement speed of the cutting tool 10 based on the physical quantities of the holder 14 detected by the first sensor 56, the second sensor 58, and the third sensor 60. In another aspect, the information processing device may adjust the rotation speed of the workpiece W based on the physical quantities of the holder 14 detected by the first sensor 56, the second sensor 58, and the third sensor 60.

[0048] According to the exemplary embodiment of the present disclosure, the groove 64 of the holder 14 is open to both the lower surface 28 and the second side surface 32 and extends in the X direction from the side of the first sensor 56, etc. toward the rear end 14b of the holder 14. Therefore, the groove 64 can be easily machined in the holder 14 using a milling tool such as an end mill having a width larger than the groove width of the groove 64. As a result, according to the exemplary embodiment of the present disclosure, even when the cutting tool 10 is equipped with the sensor unit 46, the risk of an increase in the manufacturing cost of the cutting tool 10 can be reduced. If the groove 64 of the holder 14 is open only to one of the lower surface 28 and the second side surface 32, the groove 64 must be machined in the holder 14 using a milling tool with a small diameter having a shape corresponding to the groove width of the groove 64.

[0049] Furthermore, when the wiring member 62 has a cylindrical holding member 72, it is possible to reduce play of the wiring member 62 within the groove 64 of the holder 14. As a result, according to the example embodiment of the present disclosure, it is possible to avoid damage to the wiring member 62.

[0050] According to the example embodiment of the present disclosure, as described above, the distance in the Z direction from the upper surface 26 of the holder 14 to the first end surface 74 of the holding member 72 is equal to or less than the distance in the Z direction from the upper surface 26 to the lower surface 28 of the holder 14. Furthermore, the distance in the Y direction from the first side surface 30 of the holder 14 to the second end surface 76 of the holding member 72 is equal to or less than the distance in the Y direction from the first side surface 30 to the second side surface 32 of the holder 14. In such a case, the wiring member 62 is less likely to protrude from the outer surface of the holder 14. As a result, according to the example embodiment of the present disclosure, the cutting tool 10 is more likely to be stably fixed to the tool post 12.

[0051] 11 , when the first abutment surface 78 of the holding member 72 and the first seat surface 66 of the groove 64 of the holder 14 are inclined with respect to the imaginary plane VF, the wiring member 62 is less likely to protrude from the outer surface of the holder 14. As a result, according to the example of the embodiment of the present disclosure, the cutting tool 10 is more likely to be stably fixed to the tool post 12.

[0052] 12 , when the second abutment surface 80 of the holding member 72 and the second seat surface 68 of the groove 64 of the holder 14 are inclined with respect to the imaginary plane VP, the wiring member 62 is less likely to protrude from the outer surface of the holder 14. As a result, according to the example of the embodiment of the present disclosure, the cutting tool 10 is more likely to be stably fixed to the tool post 12.

[0053] 10 to 13 , when the first abutment surface 78 and the second abutment surface 80 of the holding member 72 abut against the first seating surface 66 and the second seating surface 68 of the groove 64 of the holder 14, respectively, it is easy to position the wiring member 62 relative to the holder 14. This makes it easy to attach the cutting tool 10 to the tool post 12 according to the exemplary embodiment of the present disclosure.

[0054] 10 , in a cross section perpendicular to the X direction, when the width K of the groove 64 in a direction parallel to the second side surface 32 is larger than the width J of the groove in a direction parallel to the lower surface 28, the rigidity of the holder 14 is likely to be ensured even if the groove 64 is machined in the holder 14. As a result, according to the example embodiment of the present disclosure, the durability of the cutting tool 10 can be increased even when the cutting tool 10 is equipped with the sensor unit 46.

[0055] 2 and 3 , when the groove 64 of the holder 14 is located closer to the rear end 14b of the holder 14 than the pocket 34, the principal component of force is less likely to be transmitted to the groove 64 of the holder 14. This prevents stress from concentrating at the boundary between the first bearing surface 66 and the second bearing surface 68 in the groove 64 of the holder 14, reducing deformation of this boundary. Furthermore, cracks are less likely to occur at the boundary. As a result, according to the exemplary embodiment of the present disclosure, the durability of the cutting tool 10 can be improved even when the cutting tool 10 includes the sensor unit 46.

[0056] 2 and 3 , when the groove 64 of the holder 14 is located closer to the second side surface 32 than the pocket 34, the principal component of force is less likely to be transmitted to the groove 64 of the holder 14.

[0057] 13 , when a concavely curved connecting surface 82 is located between the first and second bearing surfaces 66 and 68 in the groove 64 of the holder 14, stress concentration at the connecting surface 82, which is the boundary between the first and second bearing surfaces 66 and 68 in the groove 64 of the holder 14, is avoided, reducing deformation of this boundary. Furthermore, cracks are less likely to occur at the boundary. Thus, according to the exemplary embodiment of the present disclosure, the durability of the cutting tool 10 can be improved even when the cutting tool 10 includes a sensor unit 46.

[0058] In particular, when the wiring member 62 is separated from the connection surface 82 of the groove 64 of the holder 14, even if stress is concentrated on the connection surface 82, the connection surface 82 can be intentionally deformed slightly, making it less likely that cracks will occur on the connection surface 82 of the holder 14. As a result, according to the example embodiment of the present disclosure, the durability of the cutting tool 10 can be further improved even when the cutting tool 10 is equipped with the sensor unit 46.

[0059] When the groove 64 of the holder 14 is open to the rear end surface 24, the wiring member 62 can be pulled out from the rear end 14b of the holder 14. Therefore, according to the example embodiment of the present disclosure, the wiring member 62 is less likely to become an obstacle, and the cutting tool 10 can be easily attached to the tool post 12.

[0060] <Method for manufacturing machined product> A method for manufacturing a machined product according to an embodiment of the present disclosure will be described with reference to Fig. 14 to Fig. 16. Fig. 14 to Fig. 16 are schematic views illustrating a method for manufacturing a machined product according to an embodiment of the present disclosure.

[0061] As shown in the examples of FIGS. 14 to 16 , the method for manufacturing a machined product according to an embodiment of the present disclosure is a method for manufacturing a machined product M, which is a workpiece W that has been machined, and includes a first step, a second step, and a third step. The first step is a step of rotating the workpiece W around its axis S. The second step is a step of bringing the cutting insert 16 of the cutting tool 10 into contact with the rotating workpiece W to cut the workpiece W. The third step is a step of separating the cutting tool 10 from the cut workpiece W. Examples of materials for the workpiece W include stainless steel, carbon steel, alloy steel, cast iron, and non-ferrous metals. The specific details of the method for manufacturing a machined product according to the embodiment are as follows.

[0062] First, the cutting tool 10 is attached to the tool rest 12, and the workpiece W is attached to the chuck of the lathe. Next, as shown in the example of Fig. 14, the chuck is rotated to rotate the workpiece W about its axis S (first step). Then, as shown in the example of Fig. 15, the cutting tool 10 is moved in the direction of arrow D1 to approach the workpiece W, and the cutting insert 16 is brought into contact with the rotating workpiece W, thereby cutting the workpiece W (second step). This allows a machined surface Wf to be formed on the workpiece W.

[0063] 16, the cutting tool 10 is then moved in the direction of arrow D2 to separate the cutting tool 10 from the workpiece W (third step). This completes the cutting of the workpiece W, and a machined product M can be produced, which is the machined workpiece W. Because the cutting tool 10 has excellent cutting ability for the reasons described above, it is possible to produce a machined product M with excellent machining precision.

[0064] To continue cutting, the cutting insert 16 may be repeatedly brought into contact with different locations on the workpiece W while the workpiece W is being rotated. In the embodiment of the present disclosure, the cutting tool 10 is brought close to the workpiece W, but since it is sufficient that the cutting tool 10 and the workpiece W are relatively close to each other, the workpiece W may also be brought close to the cutting tool 10. In this regard, the cutting tool 10 is moved away from the workpiece W in the same manner.
