[0002] The present invention generally relates to swimwear accessories and personal protective headgear for aquatic use. More specifically, the present invention relates to a unisex swim cap garment configured to accommodate and protect voluminous, long (i.e., beyond the shoulder), or styled hairstyles, such as locs, braids, twists, extensions, and afros, during swimming or other water-based activities. The invention comprises a bulbous, elongated main body formed from a water-resistant, stretchable material such as silicone or latex, designed to enclose and preserve various hair types without compression or damage. An elastic sealing band is positioned at the head-receiving end to provide a watertight fit around the user's head. Accordingly, the present disclosure makes specific reference thereto. Traditional swim caps are generally form-fitting and small, and fail to accommodate the size, shape, and volume of these hairstyles. As a result, water exposure can damage the hairstyles, leading to undesirable frizzing, unraveling, or complete deterioration of the hair's styled condition.

Also, there is a long-felt need in the art for swim cap that features an extra-large, long rubber construction that secures to the head via an elastic headband. Additionally, there is a need for swim caps that offer secure, watertight sealing. Finally, there exists a need in the art for a swim cap that provides enhanced features such as buoyancy, sensor integration, and comfort-driven design to elevate the swimming experience for users with diverse hair needs.

[0006] The subject matter disclosed and claimed herein, in one embodiment, comprises a unisex swim cap garment configured to fully enclose and protect voluminous, long (i.e., beyond the shoulder), or elongated hairstyles during aquatic activity. The swim cap includes a main body formed from a stretchable, waterproof material such as silicone, latex, or synthetic rubber. The main body has a bulbous and elongated shape extending from a head-receiving opening to a closed rear end, defining an interior cavity sized to accommodate long (i.e., beyond the shoulder), thick, or styled hair. The head-receiving end includes an elastic sealing band configured to conform securely around the forehead, temples, and nape of the wearer to form a watertight seal. The swim cap may be produced in a variety of sizes, colors, and external designs to suit individual preferences across age and gender demographics.

A unisex swim cap garment comprising:a swim cap having a main body member and an elastic sealing band;wherein said main body member is flexible;wherein said main body having an elongated shape;wherein said swim cap having an open head-receiving end and an extended hair-receiving cavity;wherein said main body member extends rearwardly from said open head-receiving end to a closed rear end to define said extended hair-receiving cavity;wherein said extended hair-receiving cavity extends through the length of said main body member; andfurther wherein said extended hair-receiving cavity is dimensioned to receive and contain voluminous hairstyles selected from the group consisting of hair locs, hair braids, hair twists, hair afros, hair weaves, and hair extensions.

2. The unisex swim cap garment of claim 1, wherein said main body member is formed from a water-resistant and stretchable material selected from the group consisting of a silicone, a latex, a natural rubber, and a synthetic rubber.

3. The unisex swim cap garment of claim 2, wherein said elastic sealing band encircling said open head-receiving end.

4. The unisex swim cap garment of claim 3, wherein said elastic sealing band is configured to stretch around and conform to the contours of a user's head including the forehead, temples, and nape region.

5. The unisex swim cap garment of claim 4, wherein said elastic sealing band provides a watertight seal around the user's head to enable the user to use said swim cap to keep the voluminous hairstyles dry during aquatic activities.

A method of donning a swim cap over voluminous hairstyles, the method comprising the steps of:providing a swim cap having a flexible main body member and an elastic sealing band, wherein said main body having an elongated shape, wherein said swim cap having an open head-receiving end and an extended hair-receiving cavity, wherein said main body member extends rearwardly from said open head-receiving end to a closed rear end to define said extended hair-receiving cavity, wherein said extended hair-receiving cavity extends through the length of said main body member;grasping said elastic sealing band of said open head-receiving end;pulling said swim cap over a head of a user;enclosing the voluminous hairstyle of the user within said extended hair-receiving cavity;wearing said swim cap over the voluminous hairstyle;providing a watertight fit of said swim cap with said elastic sealing band disposed around the head of the user; andswimming with said swim cap while said main body member is partially submerged and extending rearwardly in a bulbous configuration to accommodate the voluminous hairstyle, wherein the voluminous hairstyle selected from the group consisting of hair locs, hair braids, hair twists, hair afros, hair weaves, and hair extensions.

20. The method of donning a swim cap over voluminous hairstyles claim 19, wherein said main body member having a buoyant foam insert embedded along an inner upper region of said main body member to provide floatation to the head of the user.
