Abstract
Description
Towel fabric
[0001] The present invention relates to a towel fabric suitable for printing a pattern.
[0002] Printing of designs onto towels has been a common practice, but since it is generally difficult to print at high resolution on pile surfaces, high-resolution printing can be achieved by making one side of the towel a gauze surface or a shirred surface that has been subjected to a shirring process.
[0003] For example, Patent Document 1 listed below discloses a towel fabric having a gauze surface on one side, and Patent Document 2 listed below discloses a towel fabric having a shirred surface on one side.
[0004] JP 2005-163251 A Registered Utility Model Publication No. 3205134
[0005] Cotton yarn is often used as the yarn that makes up towel fabrics, but when printing with dye ink on cotton yarn fabrics, the color does not develop well and the desired color reproduction may not be achieved. Furthermore, if a yarn suitable for printing with dye ink is used instead of cotton yarn, the flexibility and feel of the towel fabric may be significantly reduced.
[0006] The present invention has been made in view of the above problems, and has an object to provide a towel fabric that can be printed well while maintaining flexibility, a good feel, etc.
[0007] In order to solve the above problems, the towel fabric of the present invention is a single-sided pile towel fabric having at least two layers, including a gauze layer using a double yarn made by twisting together cotton yarn and lyocell yarn as the warp and weft, and a pile layer having a pile surface formed on at least the outer surface.
[0008] The towel fabric according to the present invention has a gauze layer woven from a combination of lyocell yarn and cotton yarn, and it is possible to print a good pattern with good color development on the printing surface of the gauze layer.
[0009] Fig. 1 is a diagram showing the configuration of a towel according to an embodiment of the present invention. Fig. 2 is an enlarged schematic cross-sectional view of a towel according to an embodiment of the present invention. Fig. 3 is a diagram for explaining the connection position between a gauze layer and a pile layer of a towel according to an embodiment of the present invention.
[0010] Hereinafter, a towel fabric suitable for printing a pattern according to an embodiment of the present invention will be described with reference to the drawings. This embodiment is characterized in that the printing surface of the towel fabric is made of recycled fiber lyocell yarn (Tencel® yarn), which allows for beautiful printing with high resolution using dye ink.
[0011] The towel 10, which is a product manufactured from the towel fabric according to this embodiment, has a two-layer structure and includes a gauze layer 11, which is a plain weave portion, and a pile layer 20, which is a pile weave portion having pile formed on one side. The outer surface of the gauze layer 11 opposite the surface facing the pile layer 20 is the printed surface 11a, and the outer surface of the pile layer 20 opposite the surface facing the gauze layer 11 is the pile surface 20a (see FIG. 1).
[0012] The gauze layer 11 is woven from gauze layer warp yarns 12 and gauze layer weft yarns 15. The gauze layer warp yarns 12 and the gauze layer weft yarns 15 are doubled yarns (gauze layer doubled yarns) made by twisting together cotton yarns and lyocell yarns.
[0013] The cotton yarn constituting the gauze layer yarn is a single yarn of count 32, and the lyocell yarn constituting the gauze layer yarn is a two-ply yarn of count 40. The blend ratio of cotton yarn to lyocell yarn in the gauze layer yarn is 50% cotton yarn to 50% lyocell yarn by mass.
[0014] Generally, lyocell yarn has excellent color development when used with dye ink, but it is weak and may break if strong tension is applied during weaving. In this embodiment, the gauze layer yarns 12 and 15 that make up the gauze layer 11 that forms the printing surface 11a contain lyocell yarn, thereby improving color development during printing.
[0015] Furthermore, by using a double yarn made by twisting together cotton yarn and lyocell yarn instead of using lyocell yarn alone as the yarns 12 and 15 for the gauze layer, the decrease in strength due to the use of lyocell yarn is minimized.
[0016] Of course, the blend ratio of cotton yarn to lyocell yarn in the gauze layer yarn can be changed as needed, but if the blend ratio of lyocell yarn is high, the strength of the gauze layer yarn will be weak and it may break due to the tension during weaving. Conversely, if the blend ratio of lyocell yarn is low, the color will not come out well when printed. Therefore, it is desirable that the blend ratio of lyocell yarn in the gauze layer yarn is 30-70% lyocell yarn and 70-30% cotton yarn.
[0017] The pile layer 20 is woven from pile layer ground warp yarns 22, pile warp yarns 23, and pile layer ground weft yarns 25, and 30 count cotton single yarns are used as the pile layer yarns 22, 23, and 25. In this way, the pile layer 20 is made entirely of cotton yarn, and has high strength while maintaining the same soft feel and texture as a regular towel.
[0018] As shown in Figure 2, the gauze layer 11 and the pile layer 20 are connected by intertwining the gauze layer warp yarns 12 and the pile layer ground weft yarns 25 at a predetermined interval in the warp and weft directions. The single-sided pile layer 20 is connected to the gauze layer 11 by overlapping it with the pile surface 20a on which the pile is formed facing outward. For convenience, Figure 2 shows multiple weft yarns adjacent in the warp direction within the same cross section.
[0019] The gauze layer 11 and the pile layer 20 are joined at intervals of 12 in the weft direction, i.e., one out of every 12 gauze layer warps 12 is hooked onto the pile layer ground weft 25. The pile layer connecting ground weft 25a is hooked onto one connecting gauze layer warp 12a at intervals of 20 in the warp direction, i.e., one out of every 20 pile layer ground wefts 25a. Figure 3 is a schematic diagram showing the joining positions of the gauze layer 11 and the pile layer 20, with the pile layer ground weft 25a at the joining positions indicated by thick lines.
[0020] As shown in FIG. 3, the connecting positions of adjacent gauze layer warp yarns 12a in the weft direction to the pile layer ground weft yarns 25a at a cycle of 20 yarns are alternately shifted by 10 yarns in the warp direction.
[0021] The weft density of the gauze layer warp yarns 12 of the gauze layer 11 and the pile layer ground warp yarns 22 of the pile layer 20 is 70 in the reed count, which indicates the number of warp yarns (feathers) per one reed length (3.7879 cm).
[0022] Furthermore, the warp density of the gauze layer weft yarns 15 of the gauze layer 11 and the pile layer ground weft yarns 25 of the pile layer 20 is 110 threads per inch (2.54 cm). The mass of the two-layer towel 10 is 84 g. In this embodiment, the weave density is set to a certain level to enable high-resolution printing.
[0023] The configuration of the towel 10 has been described in detail above. According to this embodiment, the towel 10 is provided with a gauze layer 11 woven from a combination of lyocell yarn and cotton yarn, and a pattern with good color development can be printed on the outer printing surface 11a of the gauze layer 11 using dye ink.
[0024] The towel 10 also has a pile layer 20 with a pile surface 20a located on the outside, which allows for good printing while maintaining the soft feel and texture of a woven towel fabric.
[0025] Furthermore, according to this embodiment, by using cotton yarn as a single yarn and lyocell yarn as a double yarn for the gauze layer, the area of the lyocell yarn on the surface of the printing surface 11a of the gauze layer 11 can be made larger compared to the cotton yarn, thereby achieving good printing with dyed ink.
[0026] Furthermore, since the more yarns that are twisted together, the more uneven the yarn surface becomes, and the lower the printing resolution, it is generally desirable to twist as few yarns as possible to achieve good printing. In this embodiment, the cotton yarn that reinforces the strength is used as a single yarn, and the lyocell yarn is used as a two-ply yarn, thereby achieving good printing while maintaining the strength of the doubled yarn made of cotton yarn and lyocell yarn.
[0027] The present invention is not limited to the above-described embodiment, and various modifications are possible within the scope of the gist of the present invention. For example, the shape, size, material, etc. of the components constituting the towel according to the present embodiment can be changed as appropriate.
[0028] The pile layer may be made of yarns of other materials such as polyester, instead of cotton, as long as a certain degree of softness and texture can be ensured. In addition, although the above embodiment uses a single-sided pile layer, a double-sided pile layer may also be used.
[0029] In addition, in the above embodiment, the towel has a two-layer structure consisting of a gauze layer and a pile layer, but it may have a three-layer or more structure as long as it has a gauze layer made of a composite yarn of cotton yarn and lyocell yarn as the printing surface.
[0030] Furthermore, it goes without saying that printing on the printing surface is not limited to printing with dye ink, and other printing methods such as printing with pigment ink may also be used.
