Abstract
Description
Vacuum cleaner suction nozzle
[0001] The present invention relates to a suction head of a vacuum cleaner that is equipped with a wiper plate that wipes the surface to be cleaned.
[0002] 2. Description of the Related Art A mop has been known in the past in which a wiper cloth made of paper, fabric, or the like is replaceably attached to a wiper cloth attachment member connected to the tip of a handle (Patent Document 1).
[0003] The mop described in Patent Document 1 consists of a wiping cloth for sweeping, a flat, elongated wiping cloth mounting member for interchangeably attaching the wiping cloth, and an operating handle connected to the wiping cloth mounting member. The wiping cloth mounting member is formed into a thin, rectangular flat plate made of a flexible, elastic material such as synthetic rubber or synthetic resin, and has locking means for locking the ends of the wrapped wiping cloth at positions near the four corners, and the handle is connected to the center of the top surface via a connecting means.
[0004] Patent No. 3457402
[0005] However, the wiping cloth of the mop described in Patent Document 1 requires time and effort to be engaged with the engaging means formed near the four corners, and if the engaging means are formed as cut holes, the wiping cloth may tear and remain on the engaging means, requiring work to remove it.Furthermore, since large dust particles cannot be wiped away with the wiping cloth, there is a problem that the same area must be cleaned again with an electric vacuum cleaner.
[0006] The present invention solves the above-mentioned conventional problems, and aims to provide a suction port of an electric vacuum cleaner that is easy to attach and detach to a cleaning sheet, improves workability, and can remove not only large dust particles but also small dust particles attached to the surface to be cleaned.
[0007] In order to solve the above-mentioned conventional problems, the invention of claim 1 provides an inlet of a vacuum cleaner having a suction nozzle that sucks up dust on a surface to be cleaned and a wiper plate that wipes the surface to be cleaned, wherein the suction nozzle has a substantially rectangular opening formed on its bottom surface, a suction chamber formed by a plurality of inner wall surfaces surrounding the opening, and a suction port formed above the suction chamber that connects the opening to the vacuum cleaner body, the wiper plate is capable of fixing a cleaning sheet to its bottom surface via an attachment / detachment means, and the bottom surface is positioned near the opening of the suction nozzle, and the suction nozzle is characterized in that a narrowing portion is formed near the longitudinal center of the opening, which narrows the distance between the opposing inner wall surfaces of the suction chamber.
[0008] In the invention of claim 1, the cleaning sheet can be fixed to the bottom surface of the wiper plate via the attachment / detachment means, improving workability. Also, by using a suction nozzle with a constriction formed near the approximate center of the opening in the longitudinal direction, where the distance between the opposing inner wall surfaces of the suction chamber narrows, the suction force at the approximate center of the opening where dust is most concentrated can be improved, and a compact shape can be achieved while maintaining the desired suction force overall, resulting in a suction inlet of a vacuum cleaner that can remove not only large dust particles but also small dust particles adhering to the surface to be cleaned.
[0009] The invention of claim 2 is characterized in that the height from the opening surface to the upper surface of the suction chamber is lower at the ends of the opening than at the approximate center in the longitudinal direction of the opening, which allows the suction nozzle to maintain a predetermined suction force even at the ends of the opening, thereby improving cleaning efficiency.
[0010] The invention of claim 3 is characterized in that in the invention of claim 1 or 2, the cross-sectional area of the suction chamber is smaller at the ends of the opening than at the approximate center of the opening in the longitudinal direction, in a cross section taken along the shorter side of the opening. This allows the suction nozzle to maintain a predetermined suction force even at the ends of the opening, thereby improving cleaning efficiency.
[0011] The invention of claim 1 can improve the workability of fixing the cleaning sheet to the wiper plate, and can also improve the suction force at the approximate center of the opening where dust is most concentrated, allowing for a compact shape while maintaining the desired suction force overall. Furthermore, the inventions of claims 2 and 3 can maintain a predetermined suction force even at the edge of the suction nozzle opening, thereby improving cleaning efficiency.

[0013] Hereinafter, embodiments of the present invention will be described with reference to the drawings. However, the present invention is not limited to these embodiments. FIG. 1(a) is a perspective view showing a suction port of a first embodiment, and FIG. 1(b) is a perspective view of the suction port of the first embodiment with a cleaning sheet fixed thereto. FIG. 2(a) is a side view of the suction port of the first embodiment, and FIG. 2(b) is a side view of the suction port of the first embodiment with a cleaning sheet fixed thereto. FIG. 2(c) is a cross-sectional view of the suction port of the first embodiment. FIG. 3(a) is a bottom view of the suction port of the first embodiment, and FIG. 3(b) is a bottom view of the suction port of the first embodiment with a cleaning sheet fixed thereto. FIG. 4 is a cross-sectional view taken along line A-A in FIG. 1(a). FIG. 5(a) is a cross-sectional view of the suction port of the first embodiment, and FIG. 5(b) is a cross-sectional view of the suction port of the first embodiment. The first embodiment of the suction port of an electric vacuum cleaner according to the present invention will be described below using these figures.
[0014] The suction port 10 of the vacuum cleaner of the first embodiment according to the present invention has a suction nozzle 1 that sucks up dust on the surface to be cleaned, and a wiper plate 2 that wipes the surface to be cleaned. The suction nozzle 1 has an approximately rectangular opening 1a formed on the bottom surface, a suction chamber 1c formed by a plurality of inner wall surfaces 1b surrounding the opening 1a, and a suction port 1d formed above the suction chamber 1c that connects the opening 1a to the vacuum cleaner body.
[0015] The wiper plate 2 can fix the cleaning sheet 3 to the bottom surface 2b of the wiper plate 2 via an attachment / detachment means 2a, and the bottom surface 2b is arranged near the opening 1a of the suction nozzle 1. The suction nozzle 1 has a constriction portion 1e formed near approximately the center of the longitudinal direction of the opening 1a, where the distance between the opposing inner wall surfaces 1b, 1b of the suction chamber 1c is narrowed.
[0016] The suction port 10 of the first embodiment employs a brush as the attachment / detachment means 2a, and the brush 2a is formed linearly along the longitudinal direction on the upper surface of the wiper plate 2. In addition, brushes 2a are formed along the longitudinal direction at two locations on the lower surface of the wiper plate 2. The brushes 2a become entangled with the cleaning sheet 3, which is mainly made of nonwoven fabric, thereby fixing the cleaning sheet 3 to the wiper plate 2.
[0017] The wiper plate 2 is composed of a wiper plate body 2c, a first buffer member 2d (e.g., sponge) formed of different soft materials, and a second buffer member 2e (e.g., elastomer resin).
[0018] As shown in Figures 5(a) and (b), the suction nozzle 10 of the first embodiment has a plate-shaped base protruding rearward from the bottom of the rotating tube 7, a spring 5 (see Figure 5) on the top surface of the base, and a buffer piece 4 at the tip of the spring 5. The buffer piece 4 abuts against the connecting tube 6 under the biasing force of the spring 5, and frictional resistance is generated between the spring 5 and the connecting tube 6, preventing the suction nozzle 1 and wiper plate 2 from flipping over. Note that the same effect can be achieved by forming the spring 5 on the top surface of the wiper plate and having the buffer piece 4 abut against the connecting tube 6. Furthermore, if the buffer piece 4 abuts against the rotating tube 7 instead of the connecting tube 6, frictional resistance is generated when the rotating tube 7 rotates, thereby assisting the user in smoothly rotating the rotating tube 7.
[0019] As shown in Figures 1(a) and (b), the suction port 10 of the first embodiment has a notch 8a for checking the position when installing the cleaning sheet 3 and a protrusion 8b for alignment formed on both sides of the suction port 10 between the suction nozzle 1 and the wiper plate 2.
[0020] The cleaning sheet 3 is formed with approximately the same width as the wiper plate 2, and when the suction port 10 is placed on top of the cleaning sheet 3, the notches 8a, 8a on both sides make it possible to check whether the cleaning sheet 3 is correctly aligned horizontally. Furthermore, the cleaning sheet 3 can be fixed in the appropriate position vertically by aligning the front end of the cleaning sheet 3 with the alignment protrusions 8b, 8b when it is attached.
[0021] This allows the cleaning sheet 3 to be attached to the appropriate position of the suction inlet 10 simply by placing the cleaning sheet 3 on the surface to be cleaned and then placing the suction inlet 10 while the user is standing. Therefore, when the suction inlet 10 is viewed from above, the position of the cleaning sheet 3 can be ascertained and the position can be finely adjusted without touching the suction inlet 10 or the cleaning sheet 3.
[0022] As shown in Figure 2(c), when the suction port 10 of the first embodiment is stored, a small gap (of about a few millimeters) is formed between the upper surface of the wiper plate 2 and the lower surface of the rotating tube 7 or connecting tube 6. When in use, the rotating tube 7 or connecting tube 6 is designed to bend slightly downward or rotate when the suction port 10 is moved. This allows the rotating tube 7 or connecting tube 6 to press against the wiper plate 2 from above, firmly pressing against approximately the center of the wiper plate 2.
[0023] The bending or rotation of the rotating pipe 7 or the connecting pipe 6 can be achieved either by using a flexible material or by providing a shaft for rotation. In addition, by providing a slight recess on the upper surface of the wiper plate 2 that abuts against the rotating pipe 7 or the connecting pipe 6, it is possible to achieve a structure that allows for surface contact with the rotating pipe 7 or the connecting pipe 6 rather than point contact, thereby transmitting the holding force sufficiently and safely.
[0024] The force exerted when the user moves the suction nozzle 10 is transmitted to the suction nozzle 1 through the connecting tube 6 and the rotating tube 7, and is therefore not easily transmitted to the wiper plate 2 located behind the suction nozzle 1, resulting in insufficient cleaning effect. Therefore, by using the above-mentioned configuration, it is possible to firmly press the approximate center of the wiper plate 2, thereby improving the cleaning effect.
[0025] 2(a) to 2(c), in the suction port 10 of the first embodiment, the bristles 2f of the brush 2a are planted with their longitudinal direction inclined relative to the wiper plate 2. This allows the bristles 2f to penetrate deep into the cleaning sheet 3, which is mainly made of nonwoven fabric, and to be firmly fixed therein by the cleaning operation of moving the suction port 10 back and forth.
[0026] The inclination direction of the brushes 2a is such that the brush 2a on the front side of the wiper plate 2 is inclined backward, and the brush 2a on the rear side of the wiper plate 2 is inclined forward. This prevents the brushes from coming off each other and firmly secures the cleaning sheet 3. Note that the brush 2a on the front side of the wiper plate 2 can also be inclined forward and the brush 2a on the rear side of the wiper plate 2 can also be inclined backward, which also prevents the brushes from coming off and is therefore included in the present invention.
[0027] Furthermore, even if the inclination directions of the brushes 2a on the front side and the brushes 2a on the rear side of the wiper plate 2 are each set to the left and right, this also results in a structure that is less likely to come off due to the force generated when the suction port 10 moves forward and backward, and is therefore also included in the present invention. Furthermore, if the direction of the bristles 2f inside the brush 2a is set to be variously inclined (when the tips of the bristles 2f point in various directions), the bristles 2f can easily enter the inside of the cleaning sheet 3 and have a preventive effect, and this is also included in the present invention. Furthermore, for the brushes 2a formed on the upper surface of the wiper plate 2, inclining the bristles 2f forward prevents the bristles from coming off when the cleaning sheet 3 is wrapped around it from the rear side and fixed to the bottom surface 2b, and this is also included in the present invention.
[0028] 3(a), in the suction port 10 of the first embodiment, the brush 2a is arranged so as to have intermittent portions 2g in the width direction of the wiper plate 2. This improves the degree of freedom of the tips of the bristles 2f, allowing the bristles 2f to be inserted deep into the cleaning sheet 3. It is also possible to provide widthwise grooves in the bottom surface 2b of the wiper plate 2, and insert multiple linear brushes into these grooves one after another, so that the brushes themselves can oscillate freely in the groove direction, and this is also included in the present invention.
[0029] As shown in FIG. 5( a), the suction port 10 of the first embodiment is configured such that, during use, a space 2h is formed between the underside of the wiper plate body 2c and the upper surface of the first buffer member 2d. This is because the second buffer member 2e, made of an elastomer resin, has spring properties. As shown in FIG. 5( b), when the cleaning sheet 3 is secured, the first buffer member 2d and the second buffer member 2e recess inward, eliminating the space 2h. As a result, during use, the second buffer member 2e protrudes outward, allowing the cleaning sheet 3 to be pressed against the surface to be cleaned, thereby reducing uneven cleaning. Note that the first buffer member 2d and the second buffer member 2e may be made of a different soft material, and any material that provides the same inventive effects is included in the present invention, without being limited to sponge or elastomer resin.
[0030] Fig. 6(a) is a perspective view showing a second buffer member used in a suction port of the second embodiment, and Fig. 6(b) is a cross-sectional view showing the suction port of the second embodiment. The second embodiment of the suction port of the electric vacuum cleaner according to the present invention will be described below using these figures. The second buffer member 22e used in the suction port 20 of the second embodiment has a cone-shaped protrusion 22i formed in the center, and a plurality of ribs 22j extending in a direction angled relative to the radial direction are formed on the outer circumferential surface of the protrusion 22i.
[0031] When the second buffer member 22e is pressed against the surface to be cleaned, the multiple ribs 22j generate a biasing force, causing the central cone-shaped protrusion 22i to push back the wiper plate body, allowing the cleaning sheet 3 to be pressed firmly against the surface to be cleaned, thereby reducing uneven cleaning.
[0032] FIG. 7 is a perspective view showing a suction port of a third embodiment, and FIGS. 8(a) to 8(c) are side views showing the suction port of the third embodiment in use. The third embodiment of the suction port of the electric vacuum cleaner according to the present invention will be described below using these figures. The suction port 30 of the third embodiment has a brush 32a, which serves as a detachable means, formed on the rear side of the wiper plate 32. The brush 32a on this side is attached to the rear end of a cleaning sheet 33 placed on the surface to be cleaned (as shown in FIG. 8(a)). By placing the bottom surface of the wiper plate 32 on the cleaning sheet 33 in this state (as shown in FIG. 8(b)), the cleaning sheet 33 can be fixed in an appropriate position on the wiper plate 32 without shifting. It should be noted that brushes serving as detachable means may also be provided on the front side as well as the rear side, allowing the cleaning sheet to be attached from the front side, and this configuration is also included in the present invention.
[0033] 8(c), the connecting pipe 36 can be tilted in either the front or rear direction from vertically above the wiper plate 32. This allows the cleaning sheet 33 formed on the rear side of the wiper plate 32 to clean the wall surface, improving the performance of the suction port 30 when in use.
[0034] Fig. 9(a) is a bottom view of a suction port of the fourth embodiment, Fig. 9(b) is a side view of the suction port of the fourth embodiment, and Fig. 9(c) is a perspective view of the suction port of the fourth embodiment. The fourth embodiment of the suction port of a vacuum cleaner according to the present invention will be described below using these figures. The suction port 40 of the fourth embodiment is configured so that a blade 9 is provided between the suction nozzle 41 and the brush 42a on the front side of the bottom surface of the wiper plate 42, behind the suction nozzle 41. The blade 9 is used to block and sweep away dust, and a cleaning sheet 43 is fixed to the wiper plate 42 by hooking it onto the tip of the blade 9.
[0035] In the suction port 40 of the fourth embodiment, the cleaning sheet 43 is interposed between the cleaning sheet 43 and the blade 9, thereby reducing frictional resistance (sliding resistance) without damaging the surface to be cleaned with the blade 9. Furthermore, since the blade 9 protrudes below the suction port 40 and the blade 9 itself is flexible (does not bend easily), part of the cleaning sheet 43 can be pressed firmly against the surface to be cleaned, improving the cleaning effect.
[0036] Fig. 10(a) is a perspective view showing a suction port of the fifth embodiment, Fig. 10(b) is a perspective view showing the suction port of the fifth embodiment with the wiper plate removed, and Fig. 10(c) is a perspective view showing a wiper plate used in the suction port of the fifth embodiment. Fig. 11(a) is a perspective view showing an operating handle used in the wiper plate of the fifth embodiment, and Fig. 11(b) is a perspective view showing the operating handle attached to the wiper plate of the fifth embodiment. The fifth embodiment of the suction port of a vacuum cleaner according to the present invention will be described below using these figures.
[0037] The suction nozzle 50 of the fifth embodiment is configured so that the front suction nozzle 51 and the rear wiper plate 52 can be separated using the attachment means 11. This allows it to be used as a vacuum cleaner with only the suction nozzle 51, as shown in Fig. 10(b). Also, the attachment means 11 can be used to attach the operating handle 12 shown in Fig. 11(a), allowing it to be used as a floor wiper 13, as shown in Fig. 11(b).
[0038] The suction port 50 of the fifth embodiment is configured such that a notch 14 is formed on one or both of the left and right sides of the wiper plate 52. This allows the cleaning sheet 53 to be fixed to the bottom surface of the wiper plate 52 so that it protrudes outward from the notch 14. Therefore, when removing the cleaning sheet 53, the cleaning sheet 53 can be easily removed by stepping on the part of the cleaning sheet 53 protruding from the notch 14 with a foot.
[0039] 12(a) to 12(c) are side views showing a suction head of a sixth embodiment in use. The sixth embodiment of a vacuum cleaner suction head according to the present invention will be described below using these figures. The suction head 60 of the sixth embodiment is provided with a knock cam mechanism 16 (similar to the mechanism used to insert and remove the lead of a ballpoint pen) having spring members 16a and 16b between the underside of the wiper plate 62 and the upper surface of the buffer member 15. The buffer member 15 can be deformed between a state in which it protrudes significantly from the bottom surface of the wiper plate 62 (the state shown in FIG. 12(b)) and a state in which it protrudes slightly (the state shown in FIG. 12(a)), thereby enabling the cleaning sheet 63 to be attached and detached.
[0040] The procedure for attaching and detaching the cleaning sheet 63 to the suction port 60 of the sixth embodiment is as follows. First, the buffer member 15 is placed so that it protrudes significantly from the bottom surface of the wiper plate 62. Next, when the buffer member 15 is pressed against the cleaning sheet 63 placed on the surface to be cleaned, the buffer member 15 retracts into the interior of the wiper plate 62, and the brush 62a, which is the attachment / detachment means on the bottom surface of the wiper plate 62, is fixed to the cleaning sheet 63. The surface to be cleaned is cleaned in this state. After cleaning is completed, when the cleaning sheet 63 is to be removed or replaced, the buffer member 15 is pressed against the surface to be cleaned again with the cleaning sheet 63 placed on the surface to be cleaned. This causes the knock cam mechanism 16 to cause the buffer member 15 to protrude significantly, allowing the cleaning sheet 63 to be peeled off and removed from the brush 62a, as shown in FIG. 12( c).
[0041] In addition, instead of the knock cam mechanism 15, a configuration may be used in which a buffer member protrudes when a button provided on the top surface of the wiper plate is pressed, and the buffer member returns to its initial position by being pressed against the surface to be cleaned, and this is also included in the present invention.
[0042] Fig. 13(a) is a perspective view of a suction port of a seventh embodiment with a cleaning sheet fixed thereto, Fig. 13(b) is a perspective view of the suction port of the seventh embodiment as viewed from the bottom, and Fig. 13(c) is a bottom view of the suction port of the seventh embodiment. Fig. 14 is a cross-sectional view taken along line B-B in Fig. 13(a). The seventh embodiment of a suction port for a vacuum cleaner according to the present invention will be described below using these figures. The suction port 70 of the seventh embodiment has air intake passages 17a and 17b extending from near both longitudinal ends of the suction nozzle 71 to near both ends (both left and right sides) of the wiper plate 72, with portions of the air intake passages 17a and 17b communicating with air intake holes 18a, 18b, 18c, and 18d formed in the bottom surface of the wiper plate 72. As a result, when the vacuum cleaner is operated, suction force is also generated in the intake holes 18a, 18b, 18c, and 18d, and the cleaning sheet 73 can be attracted thereto.
[0043] The intake passages 17a and 17b may be formed at any position within the suction nozzle 71, and the intake holes 18a, 18b, 18c, and 18d may be formed at predetermined positions on the wiper plate 72 that face the four corners of the cleaning sheet 73. Also, a brush configuration, which is the attachment / detachment means shown in other embodiments, may be added, and in that case, a synergistic effect can be achieved to more firmly fix the cleaning sheet 73 to the wiper plate 72.
[0044] Fig. 15(a) is a perspective view showing a suction port of the eighth embodiment, Fig. 15(b) is a bottom view showing the suction port of the eighth embodiment, and Fig. 15(c) is a side view of the suction port of the eighth embodiment with a cleaning sheet fixed thereto. The eighth embodiment of the suction port of a vacuum cleaner according to the present invention will be described below using these figures. The suction port 80 of the eighth embodiment is equipped with a rotating brush 19a, and brushes 82a, 82a, which serve as attachment / detachment means, are arranged on a suction port body 19b located behind the rotating brush 19a.
[0045] 15(c), the cleaning sheet 83 can be attached so as to cover the entire bottom surface of the suction port body 19b behind the rotating brush 19a. Alternatively, the suction port 80 of the eighth embodiment can be constructed by attaching brushes 82a, 82a, each having an adhesive surface on one side, to the bottom surface of a commercially available general suction port body 19b.
[0046] The suction port of the vacuum cleaner according to the present invention is used as a cleaning tool equipped with a wiper plate for wiping the surface to be cleaned.
