[0002] This application claims the benefit of priority from Korean Patent Application No. 10-2023-0092516, filed July 17, 2023, the entire contents of which are incorporated herein by reference.
[0003] Technology field
[0004] The present invention relates to a secondary battery module frame and a secondary battery module including the same, and more particularly, to a secondary battery module frame capable of diffusely reflecting light incident on the inner surface of an exposure hole of the secondary battery module frame, and a secondary battery module including the same.
[0005] Secondary batteries, unlike non-rechargeable primary batteries, are rechargeable and dischargeable. Secondary batteries are highly applicable to a wide range of product groups and possess electrical properties that include high energy density. These batteries are used not only in portable electronic devices but also in electric or hybrid vehicles powered by electrical power sources, as well as in power storage devices. Secondary batteries are attracting attention as a new energy source for environmental friendliness and energy efficiency, not only because they can dramatically reduce fossil fuel use, but also because they produce no byproducts from energy use.
[0006] Medium- to large-sized devices, such as electric vehicles, require high-output, high-capacity secondary batteries. Multiple secondary battery modules, consisting of multiple secondary batteries electrically connected, are used. These secondary battery modules are preferably manufactured with the smallest possible size and weight. Primarily, square secondary batteries, pouch-type secondary batteries, and cylindrical secondary batteries are used, as they are characterized by their low weight relative to their capacity.
[0007] In addition, the process of manufacturing secondary battery modules is automated, and the secondary battery module manufacturing device performs the process after obtaining a visual image using a vision device. In particular, the wire bonding process connecting the electrode terminal and the bus bar in the cylindrical secondary battery module manufacturing process is performed through small holes formed in the secondary battery module, requiring precise work. In the image captured by the vision device, the boundary of the hole is unclear due to the light reflected from the hole, causing an error in the wire bonding position. Therefore, the development of technology to solve the above problems is necessary.
[0008] The present invention is intended to solve the above problem, and provides a secondary battery module frame that diffusely reflects light incident on the inner surface of an exposure hole so as to clearly form the boundary of the inner area of an exposure hole that exposes a receiving space in an image or video generated by photographing a secondary battery module frame with a photographing device, and a secondary battery module including the same.
[0009] As a first embodiment of the present invention, the present invention provides a secondary battery module frame comprising: a main body having an accommodation space formed therein; and a plurality of exposure holes penetrating one surface of the main body and provided to expose the accommodation space, wherein a matte portion is formed along the perimeter of an inner surface of the exposure hole and diffusely reflects light incident on the inner surface of the exposure hole.
[0010] Additionally, a first uneven surface having an irregular pattern can be formed on the matte portion.
[0011] Additionally, the average surface roughness of the first uneven surface may be 0.35 to 3.00 μm.
[0012] Additionally, the matte portion may have lower luminance than the surface adjacent to the exposure hole.
[0013] In addition, the plurality of exposure holes may form a plurality of exposure hole lines in which the exposure holes are arranged in a row along a first direction on one surface of the main body, and the plurality of exposure hole lines may be arranged in a second direction perpendicular to the first direction.
[0014] Additionally, a bus bar groove may be formed between the above exposure hole line and an adjacent exposure hole line, and is recessed to a predetermined depth along the first direction.
[0015] In addition, the exposure hole is injection-molded by a mold having a protrusion formed on one surface to form the exposure hole, and a second uneven surface may be formed on the protrusion along the perimeter of the outer surface.
[0016] Additionally, the first uneven surface can be formed as a surface corresponding to the second uneven surface.
[0017] Additionally, the second uneven surface may have an average surface roughness of 0.35 μm to 3.00 μm.
[0018] Additionally, the second uneven surface can be formed by chemically corroding the surface of the protrusion.
[0019] Additionally, the second uneven surface can be formed by electrically discharging the surface of the protrusion.
[0020] As a second embodiment of the present invention, the present invention provides a secondary battery module including: a plurality of secondary batteries; a main body in which the plurality of secondary batteries are accommodated in an internal accommodation space; and a plurality of exposure holes penetrating one surface of the main body and exposing electrode terminals of the secondary batteries, wherein a matte portion is formed along the perimeter of the inner surface of the exposure hole and diffusely reflects light incident on the inner surface of the exposure hole.
[0021] In addition, the end portion further includes a wire that is connected to an electrode terminal of the secondary battery, and the wire can be connected at a position spaced apart from the inner surface of the exposure hole in an inward direction by a predetermined distance.
[0022] Additionally, the body may further include a bus bar positioned on one side thereof and arranged adjacent to the exposure hole.
[0023] Additionally, the wire can pass through the exposed hole and the other end can be joined to the bus bar.
[0024] The secondary battery module frame of the present invention has a matte portion that diffusely reflects light formed on the inner surface of an exposure hole that exposes an internal receiving space, so that the boundary of the exposure hole can be clearly defined in an image of the secondary battery module taken by a vision inspection device in a manufacturing process of the secondary battery module, thereby improving the quality of the image, and in a process of joining a wire to an electrode terminal of the secondary battery through the exposure hole, the accuracy of the joining position of the wire on the electrode terminal can be improved.

[0035]
[0036] First embodiment
[0037] Referring to FIG. 1, as a first embodiment of the present invention, a secondary battery module frame (10) may include a main body (100) and an exposure hole (200).
[0038] The main body (100) can form the overall external shape of the secondary battery module frame (10), and an accommodation space can be formed inside so that secondary batteries (500) can be accommodated.
[0039] A plurality of secondary batteries (500) can be accommodated in the accommodation space of the main body (100), and the plurality of secondary batteries (500) accommodated in the accommodation space can be arranged according to a predetermined arrangement method.
[0040] The main body (100) can be formed of a durable material so as not to be damaged by the heat generated by the secondary batteries (500), and may include, but is not limited to, one or more polymer materials selected from the group consisting of polypropylene (PP), polycarbonate (PC), ABS resin, polyethylene terephthalate (PET), polyethylene (PE), acrylic resin, and polyvinyl chloride (PVC).
[0041] Referring to FIG. 2, the exposure hole (200) may be formed to penetrate one surface of the main body (100) so as to expose the receiving space of the main body (100) to the outside. A plurality of secondary batteries (500) accommodated in the receiving space may be exposed through the exposure hole (200). More specifically, the exposure hole (200) is formed to penetrate one surface of the main body (100) facing the positive electrode terminals of the secondary batteries (500) accommodated in the main body (100), and the exposure hole (200) may expose the electrode terminals to the outside when the secondary batteries (500) are accommodated in the receiving space of the main body (100). Therefore, it is possible to determine whether the secondary batteries (500) accommodated in the receiving space are correctly placed and the positions of the positive and negative electrode terminals through the exposure hole (200) formed on one surface of the main body (100).
[0042] The exposure hole (200) may have a shape that penetrates the main body (100) so as to expose the receiving space to the outside, and may be, for example, square, circular, oval, semicircular, etc.
[0043] A plurality of exposure holes (200) can be formed on one side of the main body (100) so that a plurality of secondary batteries (500) accommodated in the accommodation space can be exposed.
[0044] A plurality of exposure holes (200) can form one or more exposure hole (200) lines in a row along a first direction (a) on one surface of the main body (100). Since the exposure hole (200) lines are arranged along the direction in which the secondary batteries (500) arranged in the receiving space are arranged in a row, it is possible to check whether the arrangement of each of the plurality of secondary batteries (500) is correct through the exposure holes (200), and the electrode terminals of the plurality of secondary batteries (500) arranged along the exposure hole (200) lines can be exposed to the outside.
[0045] A plurality of exposure hole (200) lines can be formed, and the plurality of exposure hole (200) lines can be arranged in a second direction (b) perpendicular to the first direction (a).
[0046] Referring to FIG. 2, a non-reflective portion (210) may be formed along the perimeter of the inner surface of the exposure hole (200) and diffusely reflects light incident on the inner surface of the exposure hole (200). The inner surface of the exposure hole (200) may form a boundary of the exposure hole (200).
[0047] A busbar groove (300) may be formed on one side of the main body (100) to a predetermined depth so that a busbar can be inserted at a position adjacent to the above-described exposure hole line. The busbar groove (300) may be formed between a plurality of adjacent exposure hole lines. The busbar groove (300) may be formed along the first direction (a) like the above-described exposure hole line.
[0048] The matte area (210) may be a region that is darker and has less gloss than the surrounding area of the exposure hole (200) because it diffusely reflects light incident on the inner surface of the exposure hole (200) in all directions.
[0049] When manufacturing a secondary battery module (11), it is necessary to check whether the secondary batteries (500) are accurately arranged in the receiving space of the secondary battery module frame (10), and this can be performed by directly observing with the worker's eyes or by using a vision inspection device. The vision inspection device can automatically determine whether the secondary batteries (500) placed in the receiving space of the secondary battery module frame (10) are accurately arranged, the positions of the negative and positive electrode terminals of the secondary batteries (500), the boundary between the negative and positive electrode terminals of the secondary batteries (500), and the appropriate positions for performing wire (700) bonding to the electrode terminals of the secondary batteries (500) by generating images or videos by photographing the secondary battery module (11) being manufactured. In particular, the vision inspection device can obtain image data regarding the boundary of the exposure hole (200) and the appearance of the secondary battery (500) exposed through the exposure hole (200) by photographing the exposure hole (200).
[0050] However, when the vision inspection device photographs an exposure hole (200) having no matte portion (210) on the inner side, light reflection occurs due to the inner side of the exposure hole (200), and the reflected light enters the vision inspection device, so the image or video generated by the vision inspection device may be unclear, such as showing the boundary of the exposure hole (200) blurry or double.
[0051] The matte portion (210) can solve this problem by diffusely reflecting the light incident on the matte portion (210) and minimizing the amount of light reflected from the matte portion (210) that enters the vision inspection device. Therefore, the image or video generated by the vision inspection device darkens the matte portion (210) forming the boundary of the exposure hole (200), thereby clearly indicating the boundary of the exposure hole (200).
[0052] Referring to FIG. 3, the matte portion (210) may have a first uneven surface (211) formed on the surface with an irregular shape and pattern so as to diffusely reflect light incident on the matte portion (210). The first uneven surface (211) may be formed with an average surface roughness (Ra) of 0.35 μm to 3.00 μm, which can form a matte surface so that the boundary of the exposure hole (200) is clearly and distinctly displayed in an image or video generated by a vision inspection device.
[0053] The first uneven surface (211) can be formed with a number of irregular protrusions and irregular grooves in an irregular pattern, and the irregular protrusions and irregular grooves can be formed in a size such that they satisfy an average surface roughness (Ra) of 0.35 μm to 3.00 μm.
[0054] Since the matte portion (210) diffusely reflects the incident light, the brightness is formed lower than that of the surface adjacent to the exposure hole (200), so that the problem of the boundary of the exposure hole (200) becoming unclear due to the light reflected from the matte portion (210) in the image or video captured by the vision inspection device can be solved.
[0055] The main body (100) can be manufactured by melting and injecting a polymer material between a first mold (400) and a second mold (420) and then cooling the melted polymer material. At this time, the exposed groove can be injection-molded by a first mold (400) in which a protrusion (410) protruding to a predetermined height on one surface is formed, and a second mold (420) in which a shape corresponding to the shape of the end of the protrusion (410) is formed so that the protrusion (410) can be inserted.
[0056] The protrusion (410) may have a second uneven surface (411) formed on the surface along the outer circumference. The second uneven surface (411) may have an average surface roughness of 0.35 μm to 3.00 μm.
[0057] The second uneven surface (411) is formed in an irregular pattern, and a number of irregular protrusions and irregular grooves can be formed in an irregular pattern, and the irregular protrusions and irregular grooves can be formed in a size that satisfies an average surface roughness of 0.35 μm to 3.00 μm.
[0058] Referring to FIG. 4, the exposure hole (200) can be injection-molded by a second mold (420) having a protrusion (410) formed in a first mold (400) and a groove formed into which the end of the protrusion (410) can be inserted, and the first uneven surface (211) formed on the outer surface of the matte portion (210) can be injection-molded by the second uneven surface (411) formed on the outer surface of the protrusion (410). That is, the first uneven surface (211) can be formed as a surface corresponding to the second uneven surface (411).
[0059] The surface forming the roughness of the second uneven surface (411) formed on the surface of the protrusion (410) can be formed by various methods. For example, but not limited thereto, the second uneven surface (411) can be formed by a method in which the outer surface of the protrusion (410) is chemically corroded to form a number of irregular protrusions and irregular grooves on the surface of the protrusion (410), a method in which the surface of the protrusion (410) is electrically discharge-processed, etc.
[0060] Second embodiment
[0061] Referring to FIG. 5, as a second embodiment of the present invention, a secondary battery module (11) may include a secondary battery (500), a main body (100), and an exposure hole (200).
[0062] Additionally, the secondary battery module (11) may further include a bus bar (600) and a wire (700).
[0063] The secondary battery module (11) may mean a state in which a plurality of secondary batteries (500) are accommodated in a secondary battery module frame (10), and the content regarding the secondary battery module frame (10) may be replaced with the content described in the first embodiment above.
[0064] The secondary battery (500) may be a secondary battery (500) of various shapes such as a pouch type, a square type, a cylindrical type, etc., and may preferably be a cylindrical secondary battery.
[0065] A cylindrical secondary battery (500) may include a battery can (not shown), a cap assembly (not shown), and an electrode assembly (not shown).
[0066] The cap assembly seals the opening of the battery can and may include a positive terminal and a safety vent.
[0067] The positive electrode terminal may be electrically connected to the positive pin of the electrode assembly, which will be described later, to form a positive pole. The positive electrode terminal may be positioned at the center of the cap assembly and may include a shape that protrudes outwardly from the secondary battery (500).
[0068] A safety vent can be formed when high-pressure gas is generated inside a secondary battery due to abnormal current, causing the battery to burst and release the gas outside the battery when the internal pressure increases. The safety vent can be formed by including a metal material.
[0069] The battery can may be a cylindrical can having an opening formed on one side and a receiving space formed inside, in which an electrode assembly and an electrolyte are received, and a cap assembly is coupled to the opening so that the battery can be sealed.
[0070] The battery can may be formed of a conductive metal material such as aluminum, nickel, stainless steel, or an alloy thereof.
[0071] The top of the battery can may be formed with a beading portion that is sunken from the outside to the inside of the battery can and a crimping portion for sealing the battery can.
[0072] The electrode assembly may include a structure in which a positive electrode current collector / positive electrode active material layer / separator / negative electrode active material layer / negative electrode current collector are laminated in that order. The positive electrode current collector includes a region coated with a positive electrode active material layer and an uncoated positive electrode non-coated region, and the positive electrode non-coated region can function as a positive electrode tab. The negative electrode current collector includes a region coated with a negative electrode active material layer and an uncoated negative electrode non-coated region, and the negative electrode non-coated region can function as a negative electrode tab. The separator may be disposed between the positive electrode current collector and the negative electrode current collector to prevent current collectors having different polarities from contacting each other. The electrode assembly may include a jelly roll formed by winding the laminated structure.
[0073] The electrode assembly formed into a jelly roll may be electrically connected to the battery can by having the upper end of the positive electrode non-conductive portion joined to the positive electrode pin and electrically connected to the cap assembly, and the lower end of the negative electrode non-conductive portion joined to the negative electrode pin. The battery can electrically connected to the negative electrode pin may itself become a negative electrode terminal.
[0074] That is, the electrode terminal may mean the positive electrode terminal of the cap assembly and the battery can itself, which is the negative electrode terminal.
[0075] The secondary battery (500) can be accommodated in the accommodation space of the main body so that the positive electrode terminal faces the exposure hole (200).
[0076] The bus bar (600) can be formed of an electrically conductive metal material so as to electrically connect a plurality of secondary batteries (500) and a circuit board, etc.
[0077] The bus bar (600) may be positioned on one surface of the main body (100). More specifically, the bus bar (600) may be inserted into a bus bar groove (300) formed to be recessed to a predetermined depth on one surface of the main body (100). The depth of the bus bar groove (300) may be formed to be equal to or similar to the thickness of the bus bar (600).
[0078] The bus bar (600) may be arranged adjacent to the exposure hole (200) so as to be easily connected to the secondary batteries (500) through the exposure hole (200). More specifically, the bus bar (600) may be arranged between one exposure hole (200) line and the exposure hole (200) line closest thereto, and may be arranged along the exposure hole (200) line with the first direction (a), which is the arrangement direction of the exposure hole (200) line, as the longitudinal direction.
[0079] A plurality of bus bars (600) may be provided, and the plurality of bus bars (600) may be arranged between the exposure hole (200) line and the adjacent exposure hole (200) line along the second direction (b), which is a direction perpendicular to the first direction (a).
[0080] The bus bar (600) may be formed in a rectangular shape with a narrower width than its length so that it can be arranged along the line of the exposure hole (200).
[0081] The bus bar (600) can be electrically connected to the electrode terminal of the secondary battery (500) exposed through the exposure hole (200) via a wire (700). Since the bus bar (600) is formed in a long rectangular shape along the length direction of the exposure hole (200) line, a plurality of wires (700) penetrating each exposure hole (200) forming the exposure hole (200) line can be joined.
[0082] Referring to FIG. 6, a wire (700) can pass through an exposure hole (200) and have one end connected to an electrode terminal of a secondary battery (500) and the other end connected to a bus bar (600), thereby electrically connecting the bus bar (600) and the electrode terminal of the secondary battery (500).
[0083] The wire (700) can be formed of an electrically conductive metal material so as to electrically connect the bus bar (600) and the secondary battery (500).
[0084] The wire (700) can be joined to the bus bar (600) and the secondary battery (500) by welding, soldering, or other methods.
[0085] The wire (700) connected to the positive electrode terminal of the secondary battery (500) can pass through the exposure hole (200) and be connected to the bus bar (600) located on one side of the exposure hole (200), and the wire (700) connected to the negative electrode terminal of the secondary battery (500) can pass through the exposure hole (200) and be connected to the bus bar (600) located on the other side of the exposure hole (200).
[0086] The bonding of the wire (700) can be performed by a worker directly observing the exposure hole (200) or by a wire bonding device. One end of the wire (700) can be bonded at a position spaced a predetermined distance inward from the surface extending from the inner side of the exposure hole (200) toward the secondary battery (500).
[0087] Referring to (a) and (b) of FIG. 7, when the wire joining device joins one end of the wire (700) to the electrode terminal of the secondary battery (500), the joining position is determined through an image or video generated by the vision inspection device, and the position at which the wire (700) is to be joined can be determined as a pre-input position among the electrode terminal areas of the secondary battery (500) exposed through the exposure hole (200). More specifically, since the wire joining device inputs the position at which the wire (700) is to be joined as a position spaced apart from the inner surface of the exposure hole (200) in the inward direction by a predetermined distance, if the boundary of the exposure hole (200) becomes unclear in the image or video generated by the vision inspection device, the wire joining device cannot accurately calculate the position at which the wire (700) is to be joined, which may cause an error in the process of joining the wire (700). In addition, since the cylindrical secondary battery (500) has both the positive terminal of the cap assembly and the negative electrode terminal of the battery can facing the exposure hole (200), when connecting the wire (700) to the electrode terminal, it must be connected precisely at a specific location of the target electrode terminal, which may cause a problem in which the negative and positive electrodes are short-circuited.
[0088] The vision inspection device may be positioned to photograph one side of the secondary battery module (11) from directly above one side where the exposure hole (200) is formed in the secondary battery module (11). Since the vision inspection device photographs the exposure hole (200) from above the exposure hole (200), in the image or video of the exposure hole (200) generated by the vision inspection device, the inner side of the exposure hole (200) may form the boundary of the exposure hole (200). Accordingly, a matte portion (210) that diffusely reflects incident light may be formed along the perimeter of the inner side of the exposure hole (200) so that the boundary of the exposure hole (200) can be clearly seen in the image or video.
[0089] The matte portion (210) diffusely reflects the incident light so that the outer area of the exposure hole (200) appears darker than the outer area of the exposure hole (200) in the image or video generated by the vision inspection device, thereby forming a clear boundary of the exposure hole (200). In addition, the matte portion (210) does not interfere with the light reflected from the electrode terminal area of the secondary battery (500) located in the inner area of the exposure hole (200) in the image or video generated by the vision inspection device, thereby allowing the shape of the electrode terminal of the secondary battery (500) to appear clearly without distortion in the image or video. Through this, the wire joining device can calculate the position at which one end of the wire (700) is to be joined to the electrode terminal of the secondary battery (500), and can precisely join the wire (700) at the position.
[0090] Third embodiment
[0091] As a third embodiment of the present invention, the vision system may include a secondary battery module (10, 11) and a vision device (not shown). Details regarding the secondary battery module (10, 11) may be replaced by the first and second embodiments described above.
[0092] A vision device (not shown) may be configured to capture one side of a secondary battery module (10, 11) and output a visual image. The image captured and displayed by the vision device may include a plurality of exposure holes, an arrangement state of secondary batteries visible through the plurality of exposure holes, an area of electrode leads, etc. A wire joining device may recognize a boundary of an exposure hole, an area of a positive electrode lead, and an area of a negative electrode from the image captured by the vision device, and may join a wire to an area of an electrode lead calculated in advance from the boundary of the recognized exposure hole.
[0093] Fig. 7 (a) shows an actual image captured by the vision device of an exposure hole when the inner surface of the exposure hole is glossy, and Fig. 7 (b) shows an actual image captured by the vision device of an exposure hole when a matte portion is formed on the inner surface of the exposure hole. In Fig. 7 (a), the boundaries of the exposure holes appear to overlap in the image, making the boundaries unclear. However, in Fig. 7 (b), it can be confirmed that the boundaries of the exposure holes (200) are clear because light is diffusely reflected by the matte portion (210) formed along the perimeter of the inner surface of the exposure hole (200).
