Description

Data map generating device and computer-readable storage medium

[0001] The present disclosure relates to a data map generator and a computer-readable storage medium.

[0002] Conventionally, the quality of a machined surface has been quantitatively evaluated using a data map (for example, see Patent Document 1). The data map is generated by dividing a machining area into multiple regions and recording predetermined information associated with each region. The size of the multiple regions affects the processing load when the data map is generated, the data capacity of the data map, and the evaluation accuracy of the state of the machined surface using the data map.

[0003] Japanese Patent Application Laid-Open No. 2021-105825

[0004] However, the segment size for dividing the machining area into multiple areas is determined by the user. Therefore, users who are unfamiliar with creating data maps may not be able to set the segment size appropriately. In this case, the processing load when creating the data map may become excessively large, the data volume of the data map may become excessively large, or the evaluation accuracy of the machining surface using the data map may decrease. Therefore, a technology that enables appropriate setting of the segment size of the data map is required.

[0005] The data map generation device disclosed herein includes an acquisition unit that acquires area information indicating a machining area and machining information indicating the conditions under which a machining surface included in the machining area is machined by a tool, a determination unit that determines a division size for dividing the machining area into multiple areas based on the machining information, and a data map generation unit that divides the machining area into multiple areas based on the division size determined by the determination unit and generates a data map of the machining area.

[0006] The computer-readable storage medium of the present disclosure stores instructions that cause a computer to perform the following operations: acquire area information indicating a machining area and machining information indicating the conditions when a machining surface included in the machining area is machined by a tool; determine a division size for dividing the machining area into multiple areas based on the machining information; and divide the machining area into multiple areas based on the determined division size to generate a data map of the machining area.

[0008] A data map generating device and a computer-readable storage medium according to an embodiment of the present disclosure will be described below with reference to the accompanying drawings. In the following description, components having the same or similar functions will be designated by the same reference numerals. Duplicate descriptions of those components may be omitted.

[0009] In this application, "based on XX" means "based on at least XX," and includes cases where it is based on other elements in addition to XX. Furthermore, "based on XX" is not limited to cases where XX is used directly, but also includes cases where it is based on XX that has been calculated or processed. "XX" is any element (for example, any information).

[0010] The data map generating device generates a data map for quantitatively evaluating a machined surface. The data map generating device is implemented in, for example, a numerical control device, a personal computer (PC), a server, a tablet terminal, or the like.

[0011] The machined surface is the surface of the workpiece that has been machined by a processing machine, such as a machine tool such as a machining center.

[0012] Quantitative evaluation is, for example, evaluating the quality of a machined surface using a numerical value that indicates the characteristics of the machined surface. The numerical value that indicates the characteristics of the machined surface is, for example, the distance from a predetermined plane to the machined surface. When the workpiece is placed on a table, the predetermined plane may be the top surface of the table or the bottom surface of the workpiece. In other words, the numerical value that indicates the characteristics of the machined surface is a numerical value that indicates the height of the machined surface.

[0013] The distance from a predetermined plane to the processed surface may be expressed using the arithmetic mean height Sa of the processed surface, the maximum height Sz of the processed surface, etc. The arithmetic mean height Sa is also called the surface roughness Sa.

[0014] The data map is two-dimensional information in which predetermined information is associated with each of a plurality of regions included in the machining region. The predetermined information is the above-mentioned numerical values that indicate the characteristics of the machining surface.

[0015] 1 is a diagram illustrating an example of a method for creating a data map. The data map is created, for example, by a ray-casting method. In the ray-casting method, a predetermined plane P is first divided into a plurality of regions of a predetermined division size.

[0016] The shape of the multiple regions may be, for example, a lattice shape. That is, the shape of each region may be a rectangle or a square. When the shape of each region is a square, the segment size is a numerical value indicating the length of one side of the square. The segment size is also called the lattice length. The shape of the multiple regions may be a triangle. In this case, the segment size is a numerical value indicating, for example, the length of the shortest side of the triangle.

[0017] Next, the distance between each region and the machining surface MS is calculated. When the machining surface MS is generated by the machining simulation, the distance between each region and the machining surface MS is calculated based on a coordinate system set in the virtual three-dimensional space. Next, the calculated distance is associated with each region and recorded.

[0018] 1, the distance from one of the multiple areas, area A1, to the machining surface MS is calculated to be, for example, 9.9. In this case, the information indicating the distance, "9.9," is associated with area A1 and recorded.

[0019] When a data map of the machining surface MS of a workpiece that has actually been machined by a machine tool is created, a light beam from a measuring instrument is irradiated onto the machining surface MS to measure the distance between a predetermined plane P and the machining surface MS.

[0020] 2 is a diagram showing an example of a data map, in which information indicating the distance between each region and the machining surface MS is associated with each region.

[0021] 2, the value "-8.5" is associated with the area A2 in the fifth row and fourth column, i.e., the distance between the area A2 and the machining surface MS is "8.5".

[0022] Furthermore, the value "-7.7" is associated with the area A3 in the fifth row and fifth column. That is, the distance between the area A3 and the machining surface MS is "7.7". Similarly, information indicating the distance between the other area and the machining surface MS is associated and recorded with the other area. The data map indicating the distance between the predetermined plane P and the machining surface MS is also called a height map.

[0023] The smaller the division size of the data map, the more accurately it can represent the state of the machined surface MS.

[0024] 3 to 5 are diagrams for explaining the relationship between the division size of the data map and accuracy. Figures 3 to 5 show the ideal shape of the machined surface MS machined with a ball end mill B having a radius R of 2 [mm].

[0025] The distance D between the tool trajectories on the machined surface MS is 0.1 mm. The theoretical surface roughness Sai of this machined surface MS is 0.16039513 μm. The distance between the tool trajectories is also called the pick feed Pf. The theoretical surface roughness Sai can be calculated using the following equation 1: where Z(x, y) is the height at the position (x, y) on the machined surface MS, and A is the area of the region to be determined for the theoretical surface roughness Sai.

[0026]

[0027] When a data map is created by dividing the machined surface MS shown in Figure 3 into divisions of 20 μm (see Figure 4), the surface roughness Sa shown in the created data map is 0.16002921 μm. In this case, there is an error of -0.228% between the theoretical surface roughness Sai and the surface roughness Sa shown in this data map.

[0028] On the other hand, if a data map is created by dividing the machined surface MS shown in Figure 3 into divisions of 50 [μm] (see Figure 5), the surface roughness Sa shown in the created data map will be 0.156274423 [μm]. In this case, there is an error of -2.569% between the theoretical surface roughness Sai and the surface roughness Sa shown in this data map.

[0029] That is, when the division size is relatively small, the accuracy of the surface roughness Sa indicated by the data map is relatively high, and when the division size is relatively large, the accuracy of the surface roughness Sa indicated by the data map is relatively low.

[0030] Next, the relationship between the tool dimensions and the division size of the data map will be explained. For example, when a machined surface MS is machined with a ball end mill B to a certain surface roughness Sa, the greater the radius R of the ball end mill B, the longer the distance between the tool trajectories. In other words, the greater the radius R of the ball end mill B, the more gradually the unevenness of the machined surface MS changes. Here, the machined surface MS machined with a ball end mill B having a relatively large radius R is referred to as the first machined surface.

[0031] When a ball end mill B is used to machine a machined surface MS to a certain surface roughness Sa, the smaller the radius R of the ball end mill B, the shorter the distance between tool trajectories. In other words, the smaller the radius R of the ball end mill B, the more rapidly the unevenness of the machined surface MS changes. Here, the machined surface MS machined by a ball end mill B with a relatively small radius R is referred to as the second machined surface.

[0032] Assume that the surface roughness Sa1 of the first machined surface and the surface roughness Sa2 of the second machined surface are represented by a first data map of a certain division size and a second data map of a certain division size, respectively. In this case, the accuracy of the surface roughness Sa1 of the first machined surface indicated by the first data map will be higher than the accuracy of the surface roughness Sa2 of the second machined surface indicated by the second data map. In other words, the error between the surface roughness Sa1 of the first machined surface indicated by the first data map and the theoretical surface roughness Sai will be smaller than the error between the surface roughness Sa2 of the second machined surface indicated by the second data map and the theoretical surface roughness Sai.

[0033] That is, the larger the tool size, the more accurate the data map will be, even if the division size is increased, and the smaller the tool size, the less accurate the data map will be unless the division size is reduced.

[0034] Figures 6 to 8 are tables showing the error between the theoretical surface roughness Sai and the surface roughness Sa indicated by the data map for each tool dimension. Here, the theoretical surface roughness Sai is 0.0257 μm. Figure 6 shows the error between the theoretical surface roughness Sai and the surface roughness Sa indicated by the data map when the data map division size is set to 1 μm. Figure 7 shows the error between the theoretical surface roughness Sai and the surface roughness Sa indicated by the data map when the data map division size is set to 0.25 μm. Figure 8 shows the error between the theoretical surface roughness Sai and the surface roughness Sa indicated by the data map when the data map division size is set to 0.1 μm.

[0035] 6, a radius R of "0.05" and an error of "3.20%" are entered as one set. This indicates that when a machined surface MS machined with a ball end mill B having a radius R of 0.05 mm is represented by a data map divided into divisions of 1 μm, the error between the surface roughness Sa and the theoretical surface roughness Sai is 3.20%. However, the theoretical surface roughness Sai of the machined surface MS is 0.0257 μm.

[0036] Similarly, a radius R of "0.1" and an error of "-3.90%" are entered as a set. This indicates that when a machined surface MS machined with a ball end mill B having a radius R of 0.1 mm is represented on a data map divided into divisions of 1 μm, the error between the surface roughness Sa and the theoretical surface roughness Sai is -3.90%. However, the theoretical surface roughness Sai of the machined surface MS is 0.0257 μm.

[0037] 7, the radius R of "0.05" and the error of "-1.60%" are entered as one set. This indicates that when the machined surface MS machined with a ball end mill B having a radius R of 0.05 mm is represented by a data map divided into division sizes of 0.25 μm, the error between the surface roughness Sa and the theoretical surface roughness Sai is -1.60%. However, the theoretical surface roughness Sai of the machined surface MS is 0.0257 μm.

[0038] Similarly, a radius R of "0.1" and an error of "-3.66%" are entered as a set. This indicates that when a machined surface MS machined with a ball end mill B having a radius R of 0.1 mm is represented by a data map divided into divisions of 0.25 μm, the error between the surface roughness Sa and the theoretical surface roughness Sai is -3.66%. However, the theoretical surface roughness Sai of the machined surface MS is 0.0257 μm.

[0039] In Figure 8, the radius R of "0.05" and the error of "-0.76%" are entered as one set. This indicates that when the machined surface MS machined with a ball end mill B having a radius R of 0.05 mm is represented by a data map divided into divisions of 0.1 μm, the error between the surface roughness Sa and the theoretical surface roughness Sai is -0.76%. However, the theoretical surface roughness Sai of the machined surface MS is 0.0257 μm.

[0040] Similarly, a radius R of "0.1" and an error of "-1.07%" are entered as a set. This indicates that when a machined surface MS machined with a ball end mill B having a radius R of 0.1 mm is represented on a data map divided into division sizes of 0.1 μm, the error between the surface roughness Sa and the theoretical surface roughness Sai is -1.07%. However, the theoretical surface roughness Sai of the machined surface MS is 0.0257 μm.

[0041] In the example shown in Fig. 6, the radius R of the ball end mill B where the absolute value of the error is 3% or less is 2.0 mm or more. In the example shown in Fig. 7, the radius R of the ball end mill B where the absolute value of the error is 3% or less is 0.2 mm or more. In the example shown in Fig. 8, the error is 3% or less even when the radius R of the ball end mill B is less than 0.2 mm.

[0042] Therefore, in order to keep the error between the surface roughness Sa of the machined surface MS shown in the data map and the theoretical surface roughness Sai to 3% or less, if the tool dimension is 2.0 mm or more, the division size should be set to 1 μm.

[0043] In order to keep the error between the surface roughness Sa of the machined surface MS shown in the data map and the theoretical surface roughness Sai to 3% or less, if the tool dimension is 0.2 mm or more and less than 2.0 mm, the division size should be set to 0.25 μm.

[0044] In order to keep the error between the surface roughness Sa of the machined surface MS shown in the data map and the theoretical surface roughness Sai to 3% or less, if the tool dimension is less than 0.2 mm, the division size should be set to 0.1 μm. A table, which will be described later, is created based on the relationship between the tool dimension and division size calculated in this way.

[0045] 9 is a block diagram showing an example of the hardware configuration of a data map generating device 1. The data map generating device 1 includes, for example, a hardware processor 101, a bus 102, a read-only memory (ROM) 103, a random access memory (RAM) 104, a non-volatile memory 105, and an input / output device 106.

[0046] The hardware processor 101 is a processor that uses a system program to control the entire data map generating device 1. The hardware processor 101 reads the system program stored in the ROM 103 via the bus 102. The hardware processor 101 is, for example, a CPU (Central Processing Unit) or an electronic circuit.

[0047] The bus 102 is a communication path that connects the various pieces of hardware in the data map generating device 1. The various pieces of hardware in the data map generating device 1 exchange data via the bus 102.

[0048] The ROM 103 is a storage device that stores system programs, etc. The ROM 103 is a computer-readable storage medium.

[0049] The RAM 104 is a storage device that temporarily stores various data and functions as a work area for the hardware processor 101 to process various data.

[0050] The nonvolatile memory 105 is a storage device that retains data even when the power to the data map generating device 1 is turned off. The nonvolatile memory 105 stores, for example, various types of data, tables, etc. The nonvolatile memory 105 is a computer-readable storage medium. The nonvolatile memory 105 is, for example, a battery-backed memory or an SSD (Solid State Drive).

[0051] The input / output device 106 receives various data from the hardware processor 101 and displays the data on a display. The input / output device 106 also receives input of various data and sends the data to the hardware processor 101, for example.

[0052] The input / output device 106 is, for example, a touch panel. When the input / output device 106 is a touch panel, the input / output device 106 is, for example, a capacitive touch panel. The touch panel is not limited to a capacitive touch panel and may be a touch panel of another type.

[0053] 10 is a block diagram showing an example of the functions of the data map generating device 1. The data map generating device 1 includes, for example, an acquiring unit 111, a table storage unit 112, a determining unit 113, a data map generating unit 114, and an output unit 115.

[0054] The acquisition unit 111, the determination unit 113, the data map generation unit 114, and the output unit 115 are realized, for example, by the hardware processor 101 performing arithmetic processing using a system program stored in the ROM 103 and various programs and data stored in the nonvolatile memory 105. The table storage unit 112 is realized, for example, by storing a table in the nonvolatile memory 105.

[0055] The acquisition unit 111 acquires area information indicating a machining area and machining information indicating conditions when a machining surface MS included in the machining area is machined by a tool.

[0056] The machining area is the range in which the workpiece is machined by the tool. The area information is expressed, for example, by coordinate values on the XY plane in the machine coordinate system.

[0057] The machining surface MS is, for example, the surface of a workpiece generated by a machining simulation, which is, for example, a simulation of cutting processing by a processing machine.

[0058] Machining simulation is a process for generating machined surface data using a virtual model of a machining machine, a machining program, machining conditions, and the like.

[0059] The virtual model includes, for example, a model of a structure constituting the processing machine and a model of a workpiece. The model of the structure is generated based on information such as the shape, weight, strength, and material of the structure. The model of the workpiece is generated based on information such as the shape, weight, strength, and material of the workpiece. The machined surface MS may be a surface that is actually machined by a tool.

[0060] The machining surface MS is a flat or curved surface. When the workpiece is placed on a table that moves along the X and Y axes, the machining surface MS is, for example, the top and side surfaces of the workpiece.

[0061] The machining information is information indicating the machining conditions when a machining simulation of a workpiece is executed or when a workpiece is machined, and is information indicating the machining conditions that affect the state of the machined surface MS.

[0062] The machining information includes information indicating the dimensions of a tool used to machine the machining surface MS. The dimensions of the tool are, for example, the diameter or radius R of the tool. The tool is, for example, a ball end mill B.

[0063] The machining information may include any of information indicating the number of blades of the tool used to machine the machining surface MS, information indicating the feed speed of the tool when machining the machining surface MS, and information indicating the rotation speed of the tool when machining the machining surface MS.

[0064] The table storage unit 112 stores a table that defines the relationship between machining information and a division size for dividing a machining area into a plurality of areas. When the tool is a ball end mill B and the machining information is information indicating the radius R of the ball end mill B, the table storage unit 112 stores a table that defines the relationship between the radius R of the ball end mill and the division size.

[0065] 11 is a diagram showing an example of the table. The table records that when the tool radius R is 2 mm or more, the division size is 1 μm. The table also records that when the tool radius R is 0.2 mm or more but less than 2 mm, the division size is 0.25 μm. The table also records that when the tool radius R is less than 0.2 mm, the division size is 0.1 μm.

[0066] The data map generating device 1 does not necessarily have to include the table storage unit 112. The data map generating device 1 may acquire the table from an external device. Now, return to the description of FIG.

[0067] The determining unit 113 determines a segment size for dividing the processing area into a plurality of areas based on the processing information. The determining unit 113 determines the segment size using at least one table stored in the table storage unit 112.

[0068] When the table storage unit 112 stores the table shown in FIG. 11 , the determination unit 113 determines the division size based on the tool dimension. If the tool dimension is 2 mm or more, the determination unit 113 determines the division size to be 1 μm. If the tool dimension is 0.2 mm or more but less than 2 mm, the determination unit 113 determines the division size to be 0.25 μm. If the tool dimension is less than 0.2 mm, the determination unit 113 determines the division size to be 0.1 μm.

[0069] The data map generating unit 114 generates a data map of the machining area by dividing the machining area into a plurality of regions based on the division size determined by the determining unit 113. When the division size is determined to be 1 μm, the data map generating unit 114 divides the machining area into a plurality of square regions, each having a side length of 1 μm, for example. The data map generating unit 114 generates the data map by associating information indicating the surface roughness Sa of the machining surface MS corresponding to each region, for example.

[0070] The output unit 115 outputs the data map generated by the data map generation unit 114. For example, the output unit 115 outputs the data map to an external device. The external device is, for example, a device for quantitatively evaluating the state of the machined surface MS.

[0071] The output unit 115 may output the data map generated by the data map generation unit 114 to the display of the input / output device 106. The output unit 115 may generate three-dimensional data indicating the surface roughness Sa of the machined surface MS based on the data map, and display the three-dimensional data on the display of the input / output device 106.

[0072] 12 is a flowchart showing an example of processing executed by the data map generating device 1. In the data map generating device 1, first, the acquiring unit 111 acquires information (step S1). The information is area information and processing information.

[0073] Next, the determination unit 113 determines the division size of the processing area based on the table (step S2). Next, the data map generation unit 114 generates a data map (step S3). Finally, the output unit 115 outputs the data map (step S4), and the process ends.

[0074] In the embodiment described above, the data map generator 114 generates a data map by associating information indicating the distance from a predetermined plane to the machining surface MS with each of a plurality of regions. However, the information associated with each region is not limited to the example described above.

[0075] The data map generator 114 may generate the data map by associating information calculated based on information indicating the distance from a predetermined plane to the machining surface MS with each of the multiple regions. The information calculated based on the information indicating the distance is, for example, a differential value or an integral value of the distance.

[0076] The data map generation unit 114 may generate a data map by associating at least one of information indicating the moving speed of the tool when the machining surface MS is machined, information calculated based on the moving speed, information indicating the torque of the servo motor when the machining surface MS is machined, information calculated based on the torque, information indicating the correction amount, information calculated based on the correction amount, information indicating the detected value of the detection signal, information calculated based on the detected value, information indicating the command value of the command signal, and information calculated based on the command value with each of a plurality of regions.

[0077] The correction amounts include, for example, a backlash correction amount, a pitch error correction amount, a spatial error correction amount, and a thermal displacement correction amount. The command signals include, for example, a command signal for enabling a function and a command signal for operating an external device. The external device is, for example, a coolant, a fan, and a chip conveying device. The detection signals include a feedback signal in response to the command signal for enabling a function, a feedback signal from the external device, and a resource usage rate signal.

[0078] The information calculated based on the moving speed, torque, correction amount, detection value, and command value may be a differential or integral value of the moving speed, a differential or integral value of the torque, a differential or integral value of the correction amount, a differential or integral value of the detection value, and a differential or integral value of the command value.

[0079] The table storage unit 112 may store a plurality of tables. The plurality of tables may include a first table that defines the relationship between the radius R of the tool and the division size. The plurality of tables may also include a second table that defines the relationship between the division size and at least one of the number of teeth of the tool, the feed rate of the tool, and the rotation speed of the tool.

[0080] When the table storage unit 112 stores multiple tables, the determination unit 113 selects one segment size from each table. The determination unit 113 selects a first segment size from a first table. The determination unit 113 also determines a second segment size from a second table.

[0081] When the determination unit 113 determines the segment size using multiple tables, the determination unit 113 determines the segment size based on a predetermined criterion. For example, the determination unit 113 determines the smaller of the first segment size and the second segment size. In other words, the predetermined criterion is that the smallest segment size of the selected multiple segment sizes is adopted. The data map generation unit 114 may generate a data map based on the determined segment size.

[0082] The data map generating device 1 may edit the contents recorded in the table.

[0083] 13 is a block diagram showing an example of the functions of a data map generating device 1 having an editing unit that edits the contents of a table. Of the functions of the data map generating device 1 shown in FIG. 13, the same functions as those of the data map generating device 1 shown in FIG. 10 will not be described.

[0084] The data map generating device 1 includes an acquiring unit 111, a table storage unit 112, a determining unit 113, a data map generating unit 114, and an output unit 115, as well as an editing unit 116. The editing unit 116 is realized, for example, by the hardware processor 101 performing arithmetic processing using the system program stored in the ROM 103 and various programs and data stored in the non-volatile memory 105.

[0085] The editing unit 116 edits the contents of at least one table. The editing unit 116 changes the contents of the table based on, for example, a user's input operation to the input / output device 106. The contents of the table include, for example, a value indicating the radius R of the ball end mill B and a value indicating the division size.

[0086] As described above, the data map generating device 1 includes an acquisition unit 111 that acquires area information indicating the machining area and machining information indicating the conditions when the machining surface MS included in the machining area is machined by a tool, a determination unit 113 that determines a division size for dividing the machining area into multiple areas based on the machining information, and a data map generating unit 114 that divides the machining area into multiple areas based on the division size determined by the determination unit 113 and generates a data map of the machining area.

[0087] Therefore, the data map generating device 1 can set the division size of the data map to an appropriate size. Specifically, the data map generating device 1 can appropriately balance the processing load when creating the data map, the data capacity of the data map, and the evaluation accuracy of the machined surface MS using the data map.
