Description

[0001] SYSTEM, METHOD, AND MODULAR DEVICE FOR ELECTRIC POWER TRANSFER

[0002] TECHNICAL FIELD

[0003] The present disclosure relates generally to energy delivery and mobile charging solutions for electric vehicles (EVs) and other electric devices. More particularly, the present disclosure relates to a system, a method, and a modular device for electric power transfer.

[0004] BACKGROUND

[0005] As the demand for clean and sustainable energy alternatives continues to rise, electric vehicles have gained significant popularity as an eco-friendly transportation option. However, one of the major challenges faced in this field is the accessibility and availability of charging infrastructure. Traditional charging stations are often fixed at specific locations, limiting the convenience and range of electric vehicles. Therefore, there is a need for a more flexible and modular charging platform that can provide energy delivery services anytime and anywhere, catering to the dynamic needs of modern electric transportation and other electric-powered applications.

[0006] The existing charging infrastructure for electric vehicles and portable electric devices faces several limitations. Firstly, the static nature of conventional charging stations constrains the mobility of EVs, making long-distance travel and remote area usage challenging. Moreover, the diverse power requirements of various electric devices necessitate a customizable and adaptable charging solution. Additionally, the lack of a standardized charging platform creates compatibility issues among different EV models and devices, hindering widespread adoption. These challenges collectively create an inconvenience for electric vehicle users and limit the potential growth of the electric mobility sector. To address the limitations and challenges observed in the current charging infrastructure, there is a pressing need for a technical solution that offers flexibility, scalability, and accessibility to charge devices.

[0072] In some aspects of the present disclosure, when the docking status engine 204 determines that a module of the one or more modules 122 is docked on the modular charging device 104, the docking status engine 204 generates a first signal. Specifically, the first signal may signify that the docking status is “true”. On the other hand, when the docking status engine 204 determines that a module of the one or more modules 122 is not docked on the modular charging device 104, the docking status engine 204 generates a second signal. Specifically, the second signal may signify that the docking status is “false”. The docking status engine 204 may be configured to continuously receive and process the sensed signal from the plurality of sensors 120 to determine docking status of the one or more modules 122.

[0073] The first signal may enable the initiation engine 212 that may be configured to generate an initiation signal in response to the first signal. The initiation signal may enable the connection interface 124 that may be configured to establish a connection of the module of the one or more modules 122 docked onto the modular charging device 104 with the low voltage bus 132.

[0074] The module identification engine 206 may be configured to identify the module of the one or more modules 122 docked on the modular charging device 104 when the docking status is true. The module identification engine 206 may be configured to identify the module based on at least one of, the first set of signals, the second set of signals, or a combination thereof. Specifically, the first signal may enable the module identification engine 206 that may be configured to identify the module docked onto the modular charging device 104 based on at least one of, the first set of signals, the second set of signals, or a combination thereof. In some aspects of the present disclosure, when the module identification engine 206 identifies the module docked onto the modular charging device 104, the module identification engine 206 may generate an identification signal. [0075] In some aspects of the present disclosure, once the connection of the docked module of the one or more modules 122 with the low voltage bus 132 is established, and the docked module is identified, the docking status engine 204 may determine a preconditioning status of the docked module based on the first set of signals generated by the plurality of sensors 120 and the second set of signals. Specifically, to determine the preconditioning status of the docked module, the docking status engine 204 may be configured to compare the current data associated with the docked module with corresponding safe threshold values. When the docking status engine 204 determines that the parameters in the current data are within the safe threshold values, the docking status engine 204 may be configured to assign the preconditioning status as “Good” to the docked module. Further, when the preconditioning status of the docked module is “Faulty”, the docking status engine 204 may be configured to generate a propriety signal. In some aspects of the present disclosure, propriety signal may be used to enable the alert generation device 144 to generate a third alert corresponding to the “Good” preconditioning status of the docked module. On the other hand, when the docking status engine 204 determines that the parameters in the current data are not within the safe threshold values, the docking status engine 204 may be configured to assign the preconditioning status as “Faulty” to the docked module. When the current data matches with the unsafe value range, the data processing engine 214 may be configured to generate an unsafe operation signal for the docked module corresponding to the current data matching the unsafe value range. The unsafe operation signal may enable the alert generation device 144 to generate a fifth alert signal corresponding to the current data of the docked module being within the unsafe value range. When the current data of the docked module is determined between the unsafe value range, the data processing engine 214 determines the criticality value of the docked module based on the comparison of the current data with the unsafe value range. The data processing engine 214 may further generate one or more mitigation signals to initiate the one or more mitigation actions based on the criticality value of the docked module. In some aspects of the present disclosure, when the criticality value is less than the second threshold value, the data processing engine 214 generates a first shutdown signal such that the first shutdown signal disables and / or shut down the docked module for a pre-defined cool down period. In some other aspects of the present disclosure, when the criticality value is greater than the second threshold value, the data processing engine 214 generates a loud alarm to alert anyone in the vicinity of the system 100 and / or may generate a second shutdown signal to enable a complete shut down the system 100.

[0077] When the one or more requirements are matched with the current data of the docked module and the current data of the docked module is determined to be outside the unsafe value range, the power distribution engine 216 may be configured to determine one or more power requirements of the one or more external devices to be powered. [0089] At step 326, the modular charging device 104 may compare the current data of the docked module with the unsafe value range (i.e., the set of pre-defined values).

[0090] At step 328, when the current data of the docked module is within the unsafe value range, the modular charging device 104 may proceed to step 330, else when the current data of the docked module is not within the unsafe value range, the modular charging device 104 may proceed to step 334. At step 330, when the current data of the docked module is within the unsafe value range, the modular charging device 104 generates the alert signal and determines the criticality value of the current data of the docked module.

[0091] At step 332, the modular charging device 104 may initiate the one or more mitigation actions based on the criticality value of the current data determined through the alert signal.

[0092] At step 334, when the current data of the docked module is not within the unsafe value range, the modular charging device 104, the modular charging device enables the transfer of electric power to the one or more external devices.

[0093] As mentioned, there is a need for a system and a method capable of delivering electric power to any type of electric appliance, vehicle and / or facility at the location they are located without integration with grid electricity.
