Description

[0001] A HANDGUN COVER

[0002] Technical Field

[0003] The invention relates to a handgun cover arranged to enable a handgun to be drawn faster.

[0004] State of the Art

[0005] Covers are used so that handguns can be safely carried by a user. The covers include a structure in which the handgun will be placed in the most basic form and fasteners that enable this structure to be fixed to the belt and similar elements.

[0006] Handgun holsters are usually made of softer materials such as leather or rigid materials such as polymer and contain safety elements that will prevent the handgun from easily coming out of the cover after the handgun is placed in the cover and similar and / or to prevent the trigger from being pressed in the cover. After these security systems are opened one by one by the user, the user can draw the handgun and aim it at the target.

[0007] For this aiming movement, the movement in Figures 4-4b is performed. The handgun is first drawn upright as seen in Figure 4a, the barrel tip is drawn off the cover and then aimed as in Figure 4. These two movements, which should be performed in order to aim the handgun at the target in a healthy way, increase the time spent in total.

[0008] For this reason, fast draw covers have been developed. The fast draw covers are mostly made of metal and similar material and the body is partially open for direct initiation of the correct movement. The fast draw covers contain a latch that is controlled by a button. The latch is arranged to be placed on the handgun trigger when the button is not pressed. When the key is pressed, the latch is separated from the trigger cavity. When the user lifts the handgun up enough to separate it from the guard at the end of the cover and entering the barrel opening, the aim movement is performed directly. Here, the cover also provides vertical support to the handgun because the trigger latch alone cannot hold the handgun steadily. All the problems mentioned above have made it necessary to make an innovation in the relevant field as a result.

[0009] Objects of the Invention

[0010] The main object of the invention is to provide a lightweight and easier to carry fast draw cover structure.

[0011] The object of the invention is to reveal a fast draw cover structure with a lock system that will enable the handgun to be fixed without swinging and falling as long as it is attached to the cover, although there is no support.

[0064] Detailed Description of the Invention

[0065] The subject of the invention relates to a handgun cover (1) arranged to enable a handgun (2) to be drawn faster.

[0066] Referring to Figures 1 and la, the cover (1) of the invention comprises a body (10) in which the handgun (2) will be placed and a button (20) on said body (10) to release the handgun. The body (10) is shaped to include at least the trigger (4) and to release the grip (5).

[0067] There is an opening (A) on the body (10) extending through the barrel (3) of the handgun (2). Said opening (A) is provided in a continuous manner to face the upper surface (3a) of the barrel when the handgun is placed in the cover (1), that is, the handgun (2) can pass directly through said opening when it is aimed as in Figure la, without being caught in any obstacle, and accordingly, the user will be enabled to aim the handgun faster.

[0068] Referring to Figures 2-2b, the present body (10) is made of polymer and comprises a first wall (10a) and a second wall (10b), which in their most basic form face each other. A third wall (10c) extends between the two opposite sides of the first wall (10a) and the second wall (10b) and connects the first wall (10a) and the second wall (10b). Preferably, the third wall (10c) is perpendicular to the first wall (10a) and the second wall (10b).

[0069] The first wall (10a) and the second wall (10b) and the third wall (10c) constitute the slot (11) where the handgun, especially the handgun barrel (3), will be placed. A trigger slot (12) is arranged deep on the surface of the third wall (10c) in said slot (11). The remainder of the slot

[0070] (11) is arranged as the barrel slot (13).

[0071] The first wall (10a) and the second wall (10b) do not need to be in identical form and size. For example, as in Figure 2, the second wall (10b) may be higher than the first wall (10a), or the first wall (10) may be provided only in such a size as to define the barrel slot (13).

[0072] When the barrel (3) of the handgun (2) is seated in the slot (11), especially in the barrel slot (13), the trigger (4) of the handgun (2) fits in the trigger slot (12).

[0073] The part opposite the third wall (10c) between the first wall (10a) and the second wall (10b) is arranged to be a complete opening (A). As previously explained, this opening (A) allows the handgun to be aimed without encountering any obstacles.

[0074] There is a connection element (B) on the first wall (10a) or the second wall (10b). The connection element (B) is arranged to enable the body (10) to be connected to the user belt or to enable an apparatus connected to the user belt to be connected to the body (10). The alternatives that will be the connection element (B) for the cover (1) are known in the art.

[0075] Referring to Figures 2a and 2b, a button is arranged on the first wall (10a) or the second wall (10b). Said button (20) is associated with a trigger latch (21) movably connected to a slot in said wall. In the standard position, the trigger latch (21) extends into the trigger slot (12). When the trigger (4) enters the trigger slot (12), it partially pushes the trigger latch back, and then when the trigger (4) is fully seated in the trigger slot (12), it releases the trigger latch

[0076] (12), and the trigger latch (12) sits in the trigger (4).

[0077] In the invention, the button (20) is arranged to pull the trigger latch (12) back into its slot. Thus, when the button (20) is pressed by the user, the trigger latch (12) will return, and the trigger (4) will be released.

[0078] In addition, a pair of barrel holding latches (30) are provided in the barrel slot (13) part of the slot (11). The barrel holding latches (30) provide sliding of the barrel (3) by providing pressure on the side surface of the barrel when the barrel (3) fits into the barrel slot (13) and provide an extra grip compared to the prior art and accordingly, the handgun (2) can remain fixed in the body (10).

[0079] Accordingly, the cover (1) of the invention, in its most basic form, comprises the following:

[0080] A handgun (2) comprising a first wall (10a) and a second wall (10b) mutually opposing to each other defining a slot (11) including a longitudinal barrel slot (13) for the handgun barrel (3) and a trigger slot (12) for the trigger (4) of the handgun (2), and a body (10) made of polymer having a third wall (10c) connecting the opposing edges of said first wall (10a) and the second wall (10b) and having a third wall (10c) in which the trigger slot (12) is located and completely opening (A) opposite said third wall (10c), a trigger latch (21) extending into the trigger slot (12) and a button (20) that at least partially removes said trigger latch (21) from the trigger slot, at least two barrel holding latches (30) provided in the barrel slot (13) to apply pressure to the opposite surfaces of the barrel (3) of the handgun (2).

[0081] Referring to Figure 3, in a preferred embodiment of the invention, a spring element (not shown in the figures) is used to drive the trigger latch (12). The spring element is provided to push the trigger latch (21) into the trigger slot (12). Here, the button (20) moves the trigger latch (21) out of the trigger slot (12) in the opposite direction to the spring element. When the button (20) is not pressed, the spring element holds the trigger latch (21) in the trigger slot (12).

[0082] Preferably, the spring element is a coil spring. The spring element may also be made of polymer.

[0083] In another embodiment of the invention, a latch entrance (16) is provided on the first wall (10a) or the second wall (10b). The latch entrance (16) enables the trigger slot to be accessed from the external environment. Said button (20) and trigger latch (21) are provided in one piece. A button connection slot (22) is provided between the button (20) and the trigger latch (21). The button connection slot (22) is positioned to be concentric with the connection openings (17) between the mutual connection openings (17) provided on the latch entrance (16) and rotates on a shaft axis passing through both the connection openings (17) and itself. According to this rotational movement, the trigger latch (21) enters and exits the trigger slot (12).

[0084] The spring element is placed between the button (20) and the wall (on which wall the latch entrance is). Thanks to the spring element that pushes the button (20), the rotational movement provided in the axis of the connection opening (17) holds the trigger latch (21) in the trigger slot (12). When the button (20) is pressed, the spring is crushed and crushed between the wall and the button (20), and the trigger latch (21) moves out of the trigger slot (12).

[0085] In a preferred embodiment of the invention, the barrel holding latches (30) are provided rotationally, as shown in Figure 3. The maximum distance between them is narrower than the width of the barrel slot (13). The rotational movement is provided in such a way that the distance between the holding ends (35) of the latches varies. Thus, depending on the rotational movement, the holding ends (35) approach each other and press the side bodies of the opposite barrel (3) and retract and release the barrel (3).

[0086] In a preferred embodiment of the invention, said barrel holding latches (30) are connected to each other in a way that they can rotate from the connection points. Here, the barrel holding latches (30) consist of two parts as the latch upper body (31) and the latch lower body (32). The barrel holding latches (30) are connected to each other by latch connections (33) provided between the latch upper body (31) and the latch lower body (32).

[0087] The latch connections (33) are structures that extend from one barrel holding latch (30) to the other and have connection openings (34) on their surfaces. The connection openings (34) of both barrel holding latches (30) are positioned concentric with each other and are connected to the barrel slot (13) in a rotatable manner through a shaft passing through all connection openings (34).

[0088] Here, the latch lower bodies (32) can be positioned to abut against the fixed point in a fixed barrel slot (13) or against each other. When the barrel (3) enters between the barrel upper bodies (31), the latch lower bodies (32) take the leaning position. Here, the abutment point is arranged such that the distance between the holding ends (35) is not wider than the barrel. While the user is aiming the handgun (2), said latch will stretch the upper bodies (31) and allow the drawing of the handgun (2).

[0089] Alternatively, a spring element is provided between the latch lower bodies (32). The spring element pushes the latch lower bodies (32) in the opposite direction to each other, allowing the holding ends (35) to approach each other. Here, when the barrel (3) is pushed between the holding ends (35), the spring element is compressed and allows the barrel entrance (3). When the user wants to straighten the handgun (2), the holding ends (35) are pushed by the barrel with the drawing force, the spring element is compressed, and the barrel (3) comes out. After the barrel (3) comes out, the springs push the holding ends (35) into their initial positions.

[0090] Preferably, the holding ends (35) have a triangular section when cross-sectioned with respect to a plane extending the width of the barrel slot (13). Thus, the barrel (3) can easily push the holding ends (35) when entering and leaving.

[0091] Referring to Figure 5, in an embodiment of the invention, the present cover (1) comprises a cap (50) that can be closed and opened. The cap (50) is positioned at the end of the body (10) to be placed in the end part where the barrel (30) is placed. Here, the cap (50) is arranged at said end to cover at least a part of the region and opening (A) between the first wall (10a) and the second wall (10b).

[0092] At least one, preferably more than one, magnet (80) is used to fix the cap (50) on the body (10). Here, the magnets (80) are provided at the ends of the cap (50) facing the body (10) and / or at the part of the body (10) facing the cap (50) and when the cap (50) is in the closed position, that is, when it is in the position to cover at least a part of the region and opening (A), it does not ensure that the cap (50) remains closed, but secures and supports the tip of the handgun (2), and also allows the handgun (2) to easily exit from the cover (1) in its movement in Figure la. Preferably, both the body (10) and the cap (50) have magnets (80) on their faces in contact with each other in the closed position; in addition, there may be magnets (80) only in the cap (50) or only in the body (10), and at the opposite side, there are magnets in which the magnet (80) can be held. The cap (50) is provided in a movable manner. Here, the attraction force of the magnets (80) should be strong enough not to prevent the cap (50) from opening at the contact of the handgun (2). In an embodiment of the invention, the cap (50) is movably connected to the body (10) with a connection apparatus (40) to the end part of the body (10). The connection apparatus (40) is preferably configured to allow the rotatable movement of the cap (50).

[0093] Preferably, the connection apparatus (40) comprises a pair of cylindrical and hollowed-out slots (41) on the top side that are spaced between each other, and another cylindrical and hollowed-out slot (41) is placed between said slots (41). Here, with a pin or similar element passing through the slots, the cap (50) can be switched to the closed and open positions as mentioned earlier. In Figure 5, the pin and cylindrical slots are positioned on the axis shown in dashed lines in Figure 5. This axis can be provided perpendicular to the axis where the barrel (3) of the handgun (2) extends.

[0094] Here, preferably, the slots (41) that are spaced between each other are connected to the body (10), and the other slot (41) placed between these slots (41) is connected to the cap (50). On the contrary, the slots (41) with a distance between each other can be provided with a connection to the cap (50) and the slot (41) can be provided with a connection to the body (10).

[0095] Preferably, the connection apparatus (40) and / or slots (41) connected to the body (10) may be provided on the first wall (10a), the second wall (10b) and the end part of the third wall (10c) on a fourth wall (14) partially closing this end part. Preferably, the connection apparatus (40) and / or the slots (41) can be fixedly provided to the fourth wall, but in another embodiment, a channel (141) on said fourth wall (14) comprises a guide (42) arranged to be slidably placed on said channel (141) on the connection apparatus (40). Here, the channel (141) extends linearly between the first wall (10a) and the second wall (10b) on the fourth wall (141) and the guide (42) is provided linearly accordingly. Thus, the connection apparatus (40) and therefore the cap (50) can be provided in a modular way, and the user can completely remove the cap (50) at any time.

[0096] In an embodiment of the invention, a first additional wall (70) and a second additional wall (80) are provided with the first wall (10a) and the second wall (10b) on which the cap is placed at an angle or positioned at an angle above these edges. In turn, the edges of the cap (50) that fit said edges are provided at an angle accordingly. This angled structure allows the cap to be opened much more easily in the movement of the handgun (2) in Figure la.
