Abstract
Description
Label pasting device, control method for label pasting device, and program
[0001] The present invention relates to a label application device, a control method for a label application device, and a program.
[0002] JPH6-278732A discloses a label application device that includes an adsorption plate having a plurality of adsorption holes formed therein, holds a label on the adsorption plate, and applies the label to an adherend.
[0003] The label peeled off from the backing sheet is sucked onto the adsorption surface by an adsorption force set at a low pressure and moves from the edge of the adsorption surface toward the center of the adsorption surface, and when it reaches the position of the reflected light sensor on the adsorption surface, it is held onto the adsorption surface of the adsorption plate by an adsorption force set at a high pressure.
[0004] However, in the labeling device described in JPH6-278732A, for example, if the performance of the reflected light sensor serving as a detection unit for detecting labels deteriorates, even if a detection light intensity sufficient to distinguish between the presence and absence of a label can be maintained, if an intensity exceeding the detection light threshold preset in the labeling device for determining the presence or absence of a label cannot be obtained, it will be determined that the label has not been detected in the labeling device, and this will be treated as a label detection error.
[0005] For this reason, it has been desired to be able to appropriately determine the state of the label application device even if the detected value in the detection unit changes from the initial set value.
[0006] SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION It is therefore an object of the present invention to make it possible to appropriately determine the state of a label application device.

[0010] The embodiments described below are not limited to the drawings described by the brief description of the drawings.
[0011] A first aspect of the present invention is a label application device that attracts labels being conveyed, moves toward an object to be adhered, and affixes the labels to the object, comprising: an attraction unit that attracts the labels; a negative pressure detection unit that detects a negative pressure value corresponding to an attraction force generated in the attraction unit as the labels are successively attracted to the attraction unit, or a light detection unit that detects the amount of light reflected from the label in the attraction unit; a determination unit that determines the state of the label application device based on the detection value of the negative pressure detection unit or the light detection unit and at least one threshold value; and a threshold setting unit that changes the at least one threshold value based on operational input from an operator.
[0012] According to a first aspect of the present invention, at least one threshold value used when determining the state of the labeling device based on the detection value in the negative pressure detection unit or the detection value in the light detection unit can be changed based on operational input from the operator.
[0013] Therefore, according to the first aspect of the present invention, even if the detected value in the detection unit changes from the initial set value, the state of the label application device can be determined appropriately.
[0014] A second aspect of the present invention is the label application device described in the first aspect, wherein the thresholds include a first reflected light threshold and a second reflected light threshold, the first reflected light threshold is a value used to detect the presence or absence of the label, and the second reflected light threshold is a value that exceeds the first reflected light threshold, and the label application device is further provided with an error signal generating unit that generates an error signal indicating a deterioration in performance of the reflected light sensor when the determining unit determines that the detection value is below the second reflected light threshold.
[0015] According to a second aspect of the present invention, when the judgment unit determines that the detection value is below the second reflected light threshold, the error signal generation unit generates an error signal indicating a deterioration in performance of the reflected light sensor.
[0016] Therefore, according to the second aspect of the present invention, it is possible to notify the operator that it is time to replace the reflected light sensor.
[0017] A third aspect of the present invention is the label application device according to the second aspect, wherein the error signal generation unit generates the error signal when the average value of a predetermined number of the detection values when detecting the label falls below the second reflected light threshold.
[0018] According to a third aspect of the present invention, the error signal is generated when an average value of a predetermined number of detection values during label detection falls below a second reflected light threshold value.
[0019] Therefore, according to a third aspect of a certain aspect of the present invention, even if there is variation in the detection value when detecting a label, it is possible to accurately capture the tendency for the detection value to fall below the second reflected light threshold, and to appropriately notify the operator that it is time to replace the reflected light sensor.
[0020] In a fourth aspect of the present invention, the threshold value is a cleaning judgment threshold value that determines whether cleaning of the suction portion is required, and the judgment unit is further configured to generate an error signal that notifies of a cleaning request when the label application device is powered on and / or when an error state of the label application device is cleared and the judgment unit determines that the detection value exceeds the cleaning judgment threshold value.
[0021] According to a fourth aspect of the present invention, a cleaning judgment threshold is set to determine whether cleaning is necessary, and when it is clear that there is no label in the suction section and the judgment section determines that the detection value exceeds the cleaning judgment threshold, an error signal is generated to notify a cleaning request.
[0022] Therefore, according to the fourth aspect of the present invention, it is possible to preferably notify the operator that it is time to clean the reflected light sensor.
[0023] In a fifth aspect of the present invention, there is provided a label application device according to the first aspect, wherein the threshold values include a first suction threshold and a second suction threshold that is greater than the first suction threshold, the suction unit has a plurality of openings arranged in a label transport direction and sequentially suctions the labels as they are transported, starting from their edges, the negative pressure detection unit detects a negative pressure value corresponding to an adhesive force generated in the suction unit as the labels are sequentially attached to the suction unit, and the label application device further comprises an error signal generation unit that generates an error signal when the determination unit determines that the detected negative pressure value does not exceed the first suction threshold after a first determination period has elapsed, or when the determination unit determines that the detected negative pressure value has been below the second suction threshold for a predetermined period of time or more within a second determination period that is set after the first determination period.
[0024] According to a fifth aspect of the present invention, when labels are sequentially adsorbed to an adsorption section having a plurality of openings, an error is signaled when the judgment section determines that the negative pressure value does not exceed the first adsorption threshold value after the first judgment period has elapsed, or when the judgment section determines that the negative pressure value has fallen below the second adsorption threshold value for a predetermined period of time or more within the second judgment period.
[0025] Therefore, according to the fifth aspect of the present invention, since the error determination is performed based on two threshold values, the accuracy of determining whether or not a label is being held by the suction portion is improved, thereby improving the speed of the label application operation.
[0026] In a sixth aspect of the present invention, the threshold setting unit sets the first suction threshold based on the negative pressure value corresponding to the suction force generated in the suction unit when all openings except one of the plurality of openings are blocked, and sets the second suction threshold based on the negative pressure value corresponding to the suction force generated in the suction unit when all of the plurality of openings are blocked.
[0027] According to a sixth aspect of the present invention, the first adsorption threshold is set based on the negative pressure value detected when all openings except one of the multiple openings are blocked, and the second adsorption threshold is set based on the negative pressure value detected when all of the multiple openings are blocked.
[0028] Therefore, according to the sixth aspect of the present invention, it is possible to set the first and second adsorption threshold values more accurately and appropriately than when the threshold values are set by an operator.
[0029] In a seventh aspect of the present invention, there is provided a label application device according to the first aspect, wherein the threshold value is a decrease judgment threshold value for judging a decrease in the negative pressure value corresponding to the suction force generated in the suction section, the suction section has a plurality of openings arranged along the label transport direction and sequentially attracts the labels as they are transported, starting from the edge of the label, and the judgment section is further provided with an error signal generation section that generates an error signal when it determines that the average value of the sum of a predetermined number of the negative pressure values corresponding to the suction force generated in the suction section when all of the plurality of openings are blocked has fallen below the decrease judgment threshold value.
[0030] According to a seventh aspect of the present invention, labels are sequentially adsorbed to an adsorption section having a plurality of openings, and when it is determined that the average value of the sum of a predetermined number of negative pressure values detected in the adsorption section when all of the openings are blocked falls below the decrease determination threshold, an error signal is generated.
[0031] Therefore, according to a seventh aspect of a certain aspect of the present invention, even if there is variation in the detected negative pressure value, it is possible to accurately capture the tendency for the negative pressure value to fall below the decrease judgment threshold, and to appropriately notify the operator that it is time to replace the negative pressure generating unit.
[0032] In addition, an eighth aspect of the present invention is a label application device described in the first aspect, which is equipped with a communication unit that transmits data to a management server connected to a network, and a transmission control unit that transmits the detection value detected by the negative pressure detection unit or the light detection unit to the management server via the communication unit.
[0033] According to an eighth aspect of the present invention, the detected value is transmitted via the communication unit to a management server connected to the network.
[0034] Therefore, according to an eighth aspect of the present invention, the detected value detected in the label application device can be used in the management server.
[0035] A ninth aspect of the present invention is a label application device according to the first aspect, further comprising a communication unit that receives data from a management server connected to a network, and the threshold setting unit changes the threshold based on a setting value received from the management server via the communication unit.
[0036] According to a ninth aspect of the present invention, the threshold value for determining the state of the label application device is changed based on a setting value received from a management server connected to the network.
[0037] Therefore, according to a ninth aspect of the present invention, the threshold value of the label application device can be changed via a network.
[0038] In a tenth aspect of the present invention, the label application device according to the first aspect is provided with a status log storage unit that stores a status log having the detection value and the at least one threshold value each time a state change occurs in the label application device, and a log creation unit that, when a predetermined event occurs, extracts from the status log the detection value at the time the predetermined event occurred and the at least one threshold value that was set when the predetermined event occurred to create an event log.
[0039] According to a tenth aspect of the present invention, a status log having a detection value and a threshold value is stored in the status log memory unit each time the status of the label application device changes, and the log creation unit extracts from the status log the detection value when a specified event occurs and the threshold value that was set when the specified event occurred, and creates an event log.
[0040] Therefore, according to a tenth aspect of the present invention, it becomes easier for the operator to understand the state of the label application device when a specified event occurs in the label application device, and this can be used as feedback to effectively change settings and thresholds.
[0041] In an eleventh aspect of the present invention, there is provided the label application device according to the first aspect, comprising: a status log memory unit that stores a status log having the detection value and the at least one threshold value each time a state of the label application device changes; and a display data generation unit that extracts the detection value acquired at an arbitrary first timing and the at least one threshold value acquired at the arbitrary first timing, and the detection value acquired at an arbitrary second timing and the at least one threshold value acquired at the arbitrary second timing from the status log, and generates data for displaying these in an overlapping manner.
[0042] According to an eleventh aspect of an embodiment of the present invention, detection values and threshold values obtained at an arbitrary first timing and detection values and threshold values obtained at an arbitrary second timing are extracted from the status log and data is generated for displaying them in an overlapping manner.
[0043] Therefore, according to an eleventh aspect of the present invention, it becomes easier for the operator to understand the state of the label application device at a first timing and the state of the label application device at a second timing, and this can be effectively used as feedback for changing settings and thresholds.
[0044] A twelfth aspect of the present invention is a method for controlling a label application device that comprises an adsorption unit that adsorbs labels, and a negative pressure detection unit that detects a negative pressure value corresponding to the adsorption force generated in the adsorption unit as the labels are successively adsorbed to the adsorption unit, or a light detection unit that detects the amount of light reflected from the labels at the adsorption unit, and that adsorbs labels that are conveyed, moves them toward an object to be adhered, and affixes the labels to the object, wherein the method determines a state of the label application device based on the detection value of the negative pressure detection unit or the light detection unit and at least one threshold value, and changes the at least one threshold value based on operational input from an operator.
[0045] According to a twelfth aspect of a certain aspect of the present invention, at least one threshold value used when determining the state of the label application device based on the detection value in the negative pressure detection unit or the detection value in the light detection unit can be changed based on operational input from the operator.
[0046] Therefore, according to a twelfth aspect of the present invention, even if the detected value in the detection section changes from the initial set value, the state of the label application device can be determined appropriately.
[0047] In a thirteenth aspect of the present invention, there is provided a computer-executable program for a labeling device that comprises an adsorption unit that adsorbs labels, and a negative pressure detection unit that detects a negative pressure value corresponding to the adsorption force generated in the adsorption unit as the labels are successively adsorbed to the adsorption unit, or a light detection unit that detects the amount of light reflected from the labels in the adsorption unit, and that adsorbs labels that are conveyed, moves them toward an object to be adhered, and affixes the labels to the object, the program causing the computer to execute the following steps: determining the state of the labeling device based on the detection value of the negative pressure detection unit or the light detection unit and at least one threshold value; and changing the at least one threshold value based on input from an operator.
[0048] According to a thirteenth aspect of a certain aspect of the present invention, at least one threshold value used when determining the state of the label application device based on the detection value in the negative pressure detection unit or the detection value in the light detection unit can be changed based on operational input from the operator.
[0049] Therefore, according to a thirteenth aspect of the present invention, even if the detected value in the detection section changes from the initial set value, the state of the label application device can be appropriately determined.
[0050] [Description of Labeling Device and Label Printing Device] FIG. 1 is a schematic diagram illustrating a labeling device 1 according to an embodiment of the present invention.
[0051] The labeling device 1 according to this embodiment is a device that uses suction to hold a conveyed label L and affix it to an adherend A. The labeling device 1 is installed alongside a label printing device 100. After being printed by the label printing device 100, the labeling device 1 holds the label L conveyed from the label printing device 100 and affixes it to an adherend A.
[0052] In this embodiment, a continuous label web ML is used, which has a plurality of labels L on a long backing sheet S. In this embodiment, the labels L affixed to the adherend A by the label application device 1 are labels L printed by the label printing device 100.
[0053] In this embodiment, the label L is thermal paper having a heat-sensitive coloring layer formed on its surface, which changes color when heated, and can be printed on by a so-called direct thermal printer.
[0054] In this embodiment, the label printing device 100 is provided alongside the label sticking device 1 and is configured to cooperate with the label sticking device 1. In addition, the label sticking device 1 and the label printing device 100 are provided alongside a conveying device 200 that conveys the adherend A.
[0055] The labeling device 1 in this embodiment may also function as a label printing device that prints on labels. A labeling device that has the function of printing on labels is also included in the labeling device. In another aspect, the label printing device may also have the function of attaching labels. Such a printing device is also included in the labeling device.
[0056] <Label Printing Apparatus> First, a description will be given of the label printing apparatus 100. The label printing apparatus 100 is an example of a direct thermal printer.
[0057] As shown in FIG. 1, the label printing device 100 includes a printing unit 110 that prints on labels L arranged on a continuous label strip ML, a supply unit 120 that supplies the continuous label strip ML to the printing unit 110, a peeling mechanism 130 that peels the labels L from the continuous label strip ML, and a backing paper winding unit 140 that winds up unnecessary backing paper S.
[0058] The printing unit 110 includes a thermal head 111 that prints on the continuous label web ML, and a platen roller 112 that sandwiches and transports the continuous label web ML between the thermal head 111 and the platen roller 112 .
[0059] The platen roller 112 holds the continuous label web ML between itself and the thermal head 111, and conveys the continuous label web ML in a conveying direction F by being driven to rotate.
[0060] A continuous label web ML is set in the supply unit 120. Fig. 1 shows a state in which the continuous label web ML is wound so that the labels L are positioned on the inside, a so-called "inside-wound roll." The continuous label web ML unwound from the supply unit 120 is transported to the printing unit 110.
[0061] The label printing device 100 also includes a guide roll 113 and a damper unit 114 between the supply unit 120 and the printing unit 110 .
[0062] The guide roll 113 guides the continuous label web ML to the printing unit 110 while applying a predetermined tension to the continuous label web ML.
[0063] The damper unit 114 has a plate-like member with a curved surface along which the continuous label web ML can slide. The damper unit 114 can convey the continuous label web ML while applying a predetermined tension. When an inwardly wound roll is used, the damper unit 114 is positioned so as to abut and slide against the back side of the backing sheet S (the side to which the labels L are not temporarily attached).
[0064] The peeling mechanism 130 includes a turning plate 131 for peeling the liner S from the label web ML, and a support member 132 for supporting the peeled liner S.
[0065] The turning plate 131 turns only the backing sheet S in the direction opposite to the conveying direction F of the label L.
[0066] As the backing paper S is wound up by the backing paper winding section 140 , it is turned at the turning plate 131 to a direction B opposite to the conveying direction F of the label L, peeled off from the label L, and wound up by the backing paper winding section 140 .
[0067] The label printer 100 also includes a control unit 150. The control unit 150 is made up of a microcomputer that includes a central processing unit (CPU), a read-only memory (ROM), a random access memory (RAM), an input / output interface (I / O interface), and the like.
[0068] The control unit 150 performs various processes such as printing on the labels L and transporting the continuous label strip ML associated with printing by having the CPU read and execute programs stored in the ROM. The control unit 150 can also be configured with multiple microcomputers.
[0069] The control unit 150 is connected to external devices via wired or wireless communication so as to be able to communicate with them. In this embodiment, the external devices are the label application device 1 and the conveying device 200. The label printing device 100 can transmit control signals related to printing and conveying the labels L to the label application device 1 and the conveying device 200.
[0070] The label printer 100 has a display unit 160. In this embodiment, the display unit 160 is a touch panel display that can input operations to the label printer 100 and display information related to the label printing operation.
[0071] In this embodiment, the display unit 160 can also display various thresholds set in the labeling device 1 (described later) and detection values detected by various sensors. It also functions as a notification unit that notifies of errors based on error signals generated by an error signal generation unit 263 (FIG. 9) (described later).
[0072] According to the label printing device 100 having the above-described configuration, the continuous label strip ML is fed from the feed unit 120 and printed at a predetermined position on the label L of the continuous label strip ML, and then the continuous label strip ML is transported to the peeling mechanism 130.
[0073] In the peeling mechanism 130, the backing sheet S is turned at the turning plate 131 and is pulled and wound by the backing sheet winding section 140.
[0074] On the other hand, due to the difference in rigidity between the label L and the backing paper S and the strength of the adhesive force of the adhesive layer of the label L, the label L is peeled off from the backing paper S sequentially from the downstream end Ld of the label L to the upstream end Lu without being bent in the opposite direction of the conveying direction F together with the backing paper S.
[0075] The upstream end Lu of the label L is still attached to the backing sheet S. Therefore, the downstream end Ld of the label L that has already been peeled off is sent out in the conveying direction F at the conveying speed (winding speed) of the backing sheet S.
[0076] The label L peeled off from the backing sheet S is delivered to the suction unit 10 of the label application device 1 at the same speed as the backing sheet S is conveyed.
[0077] After printing on the labels L is completed, the label printing device 100 conveys the continuous label web ML a predetermined distance to a position where the transfer of the labels L to the suction unit 10 of the label application device 1 is completed.
[0078] In this embodiment, this specified distance is the transport distance of the continuous label strip ML from the position where printing on the printing area of the label L is completed to the position where the upstream end Lu of the label L is attached to the backing sheet S and the label L can completely block the last row of the openings 13 of the suction section 10 (see Figure 3).
[0079] The label printing device 100 transmits to the label application device 1 a signal indicating that the continuous label web ML has been transported up to this predetermined distance.
[0080] In addition, the label printing device 100 transmits a signal to the label application device 1 indicating that the label strip ML has been transported a distance shorter than the above-mentioned predetermined distance, i.e., up to the position where all of the openings 13 (see Figure 3) except for the last row of openings 13 are blocked.
[0081] In this embodiment, a distance shorter than the predetermined distance is referred to as a first distance, and the predetermined distance is referred to as a second distance.
[0082] In this embodiment, the first distance and the second distance can be set according to the dimension of the label L in the longitudinal direction and the print range that can be set on the label L.
[0083] Furthermore, when the suction unit 10 is in a position to wait for the label L from the label printer 100, the distance G (see FIG. 3) between the suction unit 10 and the turning plate 131 can be adjusted according to the longitudinal dimension of the label L. Furthermore, the dimensions of the suction unit 10 can be changed according to the dimensions of the label L, or can be replaced as needed with one that is compatible with the dimensions of the label L.
[0084] <Labeling Device> Next, the labeling device 1 according to this embodiment will be described.
[0085] In this embodiment, the label application device 1 shown in FIG. 1 is provided next to the label printing device 100, and is a device that adsorbs the label L that is printed by the label printing device 100 and then conveyed thereto, moves the label L toward the substrate A, and applies the label L to the substrate A.
[0086] The label application device 1 includes a suction unit 10 that suctions the labels L being conveyed, and a main body 20 that performs the suction operation of the labels L in the suction unit 10 and the operation of applying the labels L to the substrates A.
[0087] 2 is a structural diagram illustrating the suction section 10 and the main body section 20 of the label application device 1. The main body section 20 includes a suction unit 21 and a drive unit 22.
[0088] (Suction unit) The suction unit 21 generates a negative pressure in the suction part 10 so that the label L is sucked onto the suction part 10. The drive unit 22 drives the suction part 10 so that the label L sucked onto the suction part 10 is attached to the adherend A.
[0089] The adsorption unit 21 includes a compressor 211 , a pressure control unit 212 , a first control valve 213 , a second control valve 214 , a negative pressure generating unit 215 , a pressure detecting unit 216 , and a control unit 217 .
[0090] The compressor 211 is connected to the pressure control unit 212 by a hose 231. The compressor 211 generates compressed air and supplies it to the pressure control unit 212. The compressor 211 may be provided outside the label application apparatus 1.
[0091] The pressure control unit 212 is connected to the first control valve 213 and the second control valve 214 by a hose 232. As an example, the pressure control unit 212 can adjust the pressure of the compressed air sent from the compressor 211 in accordance with a voltage set in the pressure control unit 212.
[0092] The pressure control unit 212 sends the adjusted compressed air to the first control valve 213 and the second control valve 214. The adjustment of the compressed air in the pressure control unit 212 can be performed by changing the voltage, for example.
[0093] In addition, the pressure control unit 212 is directly connected to the adsorption unit 10 by a hose 233, and can send compressed air (positive pressure) adjusted from the compressed air sent from the compressor 211 directly to the adsorption unit 10.
[0094] The first control valve 213 and the second control valve 214 are connected to a negative pressure generating unit 215 by a hose 234 .
[0095] The first control valve 213 is a control valve for controlling the adjustment of the positive pressure generated in the pressure control unit 212. The first control valve 213 is configured so that the degree of opening and closing of the valve can be adjusted in accordance with the voltage set in the first control valve 213 by the control unit 217.
[0096] In this embodiment, the first control valve 213 is a proportional control valve. The first control valve 213 changes the voltage based on a control signal from the control unit 217, thereby continuously changing the negative pressure generated in the hose 234 within a range from zero (completely closed) to the original pressure (fully open).
[0097] This allows the first control valve 213 to adjust the positive pressure air generated in the pressure control unit 212 in stages.
[0098] The second control valve 214 is a control valve for controlling the adjustment of the positive pressure generated in the pressure control unit 212. The second control valve 214 is configured to be able to open and close (turn on and off) the valve in accordance with the voltage set in the second control valve 214. This makes it possible to switch between allowing the positive pressure air generated in the pressure control unit 212 to flow to the hose 234 or blocking it.
[0099] In this embodiment, by providing a first control valve 213 and a second control valve 214, when the second control valve 214 is completely closed, the positive pressure can be adjusted by the first control valve 213, and when the first control valve 213 is completely closed, the positive pressure can be adjusted by the second control valve 214.
[0100] The adjustment of the positive pressure in the first control valve 213 , the adjustment of the positive pressure in the second control valve 214 , and the switching between the first control valve 213 and the second control valve 214 are performed by a control unit 217 .
[0101] The negative pressure generating unit 215 is connected to a hose 234 whose opening and closing is controlled by a first control valve 213 and a second control valve 214. The negative pressure generating unit 215 is also connected to the suction unit 10 by a hose 235.
[0102] The negative pressure generating unit 215 discharges the air inside the hose 235 and the suction unit 10 by discharging the positive pressure air adjusted by the first control valve 213 and the second control valve 214, thereby generating a predetermined negative pressure inside the hose 235 and the suction unit 10.
[0103] The negative pressure generating unit 215 generates a negative pressure according to the voltage set in the negative pressure generating unit 215, thereby generating a first suction force, a second suction force, and a third suction force in the suction unit 10.
[0104] The first suction force generated in the negative pressure generating unit 215 based on the positive pressure from the first control valve 213 is an suction force that can attract the downstream end Ld of the label L sent out by the label printing device 100 to a partial opening 13 of the suction unit 10, and allows the label L to move in the suction unit 10 without falling from the suction unit 10.
[0105] The second suction force generated in the negative pressure generating unit 215 based on the positive pressure from the first control valve 213 is a weaker suction force than the first suction force and is an suction force that enables the label L to move in the suction unit 10.
[0106] Furthermore, the negative pressure generating unit 215 generates a third suction force capable of holding the label L on the suction unit 10 based on the positive pressure generated in the second control valve 214 .
[0107] The third suction force generated based on the positive pressure from the second control valve 214 is a stronger suction force than the first suction force, and is an suction force that can suction and hold the label L to the suction portion 10.
[0108] As described above, the first and second suction forces can be generated by the first control valve 213 and the negative pressure generating unit 215. Furthermore, the second control valve 214 and the negative pressure generating unit 215 can generate a third suction force.
[0109] The pressure detection unit 216 is a pressure sensor for detecting the pressure generated in the hose 235 .
[0110] In the labeling device 1 according to this embodiment, a pressure sensor that can output the amount of change in pressure generated in the hose 235 as an analog signal of a voltage value or current value can be used as an example of the pressure detection unit 216 .
[0111] The pressure detection unit 216 sends a detection value (an analog signal of a voltage value or a current value) based on a change in the negative pressure in the suction unit 10 (suction unit main body 11, see FIG. 3) to the control unit 217 one by one.
[0112] The control unit 217 generates signals for controlling each of the first control valve 213 and the second control valve 214. In addition, the control unit 217 receives an input of a detection value from the pressure detection unit 216.
[0113] For example, if the suction unit 10 has a label L, the detected voltage value increases as the suction force generated by the suction unit 10 increases. On the other hand, if the suction unit 10 does not have a label L, the detected voltage value decreases as the suction force generated by the suction unit 10 decreases.
[0114] The control unit 217 converts the analog signal from the pressure detection unit 216 into a digital signal using an A / D converter (not shown).
[0115] In the labeling device 1 according to this embodiment, the presence or absence of the label L in the suction unit 10 can be detected based on the detection value in the pressure detection unit 216 .
[0116] As described above, the control unit 217 can control the first control valve 213 and the second control valve 214 to switch the suction force generated in the suction unit 10 between a first suction force, a second suction force that is weaker than the first suction force, and a third suction force that is stronger than the first suction force, in this order.
[0117] The control unit 217 receives a signal indicating that the label printing device 100 has conveyed the continuous label web ML a first distance. Upon receiving this signal, the control unit 217 controls the first control valve 213 to switch from the first suction force to the second suction force.
[0118] The control unit 217 also receives various signals from the label printing apparatus 100. As an example, the control unit 217 can receive a signal indicating that the label printing apparatus 100 starts printing on the labels L. After the label printing apparatus 100 finishes printing on the labels L, the control unit 217 can receive a signal indicating that the continuous label web ML has been transported to a first distance or a second distance.
[0119] The control unit 217 receives a signal from the label printing device 100 indicating that the label L has been transported to a second distance that blocks the opening 13 in the last row in the suction unit 10, and switches from the second suction force to the third suction force.
[0120] (Drive Unit) The drive unit 22 has an arm portion 221 that supports the suction portion 10 and a drive portion 222 that drives the arm portion 221 .
[0121] The arm portion 221 is configured to be extendable and contractible relative to the adherend A being transported by the transport device 200 .
[0122] The drive unit 22 extends the arm portion 221 toward the adherend A in response to a control signal from the control unit 217. As an example, the drive unit 22 is configured to extend the arm portion 221 toward the surface of the adherend A to which the label L is attached, after receiving a signal from the control unit 217 indicating that the suction force has been switched from the second suction force to the third suction force.
[0123] (Configuration of Suction Unit) Next, the suction unit 10 applied to the label application device 1 according to this embodiment will be described.
[0124] As shown in FIG. 2, the suction unit 10 is provided with a light detection unit 14 as a detection unit for detecting that the label L has been suctioned to the suction unit 10 .
[0125] In the label application device 1 according to this embodiment, a photoelectric sensor can be used as an example of the light detection unit 14 .
[0126] Although not shown, the light detection unit 14 includes a light emitting unit (light emitting element) for emitting detection light toward the label L and a light receiving unit (light receiving element) for receiving the detection light reflected by the label L. In other words, the light detection unit 14 is a reflected light sensor that detects the reflected light from the label L.
[0127] The light receiving element may be, for example, a photoconductive element, whose resistance value changes depending on the amount of light incident on it, and the amount of change can be output as an analog value.
[0128] When there is a label L on the suction portion 10, that is, when the detection light from the light detection portion 14 is reflected by the label L, the reflected detection light strikes the light receiving portion, reducing the resistance of the photoconductive element, thereby increasing the detected voltage.
[0129] On the other hand, when there is no label L on the suction part 10, i.e., when the detection light is not reflected by the label L, the amount of detection light that strikes the light receiving part decreases, and the resistance value of the photoconductive element increases, resulting in a lower detected voltage value.
[0130] Therefore, the labeling device 1 according to this embodiment can detect the presence or absence of a label in the suction section 10 by the light detection section 14 .
[0131] In the following description, a case will be described in which the detected value detected by the light detection unit 14 is a voltage value.
[0132] 3 is a plan view of the suction unit 10 of the label application device 1 and the periphery of the turning plate 131 of the label printing device 100, as viewed from the adherend A side. In FIG. 3, the turning plate 131 is indicated by a two-dot chain line.
[0133] As shown in FIG. 3 , the suction part 10 has a suction part main body 11 , a suction surface 12 for suctioning the label L, and a plurality of openings 13 formed in the suction surface 12 .
[0134] The attraction surface 12 is also formed with a detection opening 15 through which the detection light from the light detection unit 14 and the reflected light reflected by the label L pass.
[0135] The suction unit body 11 is in the shape of a hollow box. Hoses 233 and 235 extending from the suction unit 21 are connected to the suction unit body 11, and a negative pressure is generated inside the suction unit body 11 by a first control valve 213, a second control valve 214, and a negative pressure generator 215 (FIG. 2).
[0136] The suction unit main body 11 is attached to the tip of the arm 221. The arm 221 is configured to extend to the vicinity of the surface of the adherend A, to which the label L is attached, that is transported by the transport device 200.
[0137] The adsorption surface 12 is rectangular in shape and has a planar size at least larger than the size of the label L, and is disposed so as to face the surface of the adherend A to which the label L is attached.
[0138] 3 , four rows of three openings 13 are formed at equal intervals along the longitudinal direction of the suction surface 12. In this embodiment, the longitudinal direction of the suction surface 12 coincides with the conveyance direction F of the label L discharged from the label printing device 100.
[0139] According to the label application device 1, the negative pressure generated in the suction unit main body 11 acts on the multiple openings 13, thereby generating a first suction force, a second suction force, and a third suction force.
[0140] 1, the conveying device 200 includes a conveyor 201 that conveys an adherend A to which a label L is to be affixed. The conveying device 200 also includes a control unit that controls the conveyance of the adherend A, an operation input unit, a display unit, and the like, which are not shown in FIG.
[0141] The conveying device 200 is communicably connected to the label application device 1 and the label printing device 100 via an interface (not shown).
[0142] [Suction Process in Labeling Apparatus] Fig. 4 is a flowchart illustrating the suction process in the control unit 217 of the labeling apparatus 1. Fig. 5 is a schematic diagram illustrating a state in which the label L is being conveyed while being sucked by the suction unit 10.
[0143] Fig. 6 is a schematic diagram illustrating a state in which the continuous label web ML has been transported to a position where the labels L close all of the openings 13 of the suction unit 10 except for the last row. Fig. 7 is a schematic diagram illustrating a state in which the labels L are suctioned and held by the suction unit 10.
[0144] 5, 6 and 7, the turning plate 131 is omitted, and instead a part of the label L is shown by a two-dot chain line.
[0145] 8 is a diagram illustrating the behavior of the pressure detected in the suction unit 10 of the labeling device 1 and the control signal in the negative pressure generating unit 215. In FIG. 8, the horizontal axis represents time.
[0146] A solid line Y1 shown in FIG. 8 indicates the change in pressure in the suction portion main body 11 detected by the pressure detection portion 216 over time.
[0147] 8, a dashed line Y2 indicates the stepwise voltage control of the first control valve 213. A dashed line Y3 indicates the on / off signal of the second control valve 214.
[0148] The label printing apparatus 100 is configured to transport the continuous label web ML up to the first distance and the second distance described above after printing on the labels L is completed.
[0149] In step S1 shown in FIG. 4, the control unit 217 in the label application device 1 receives a signal to start printing from the label printing device 100.
[0150] In step S2, the control unit 217 generates a first suction force in the suction unit 10. That is, the control unit 217 sends a control signal to the first control valve 213 so that the first suction force is generated.
[0151] As shown in Figure 5, the label L after printing is discharged from the label printing device 100 in the conveying direction F and moves sequentially from the downstream end Ld of the label L while being attracted to the opening 13 of the suction section 10 by the first suction force.
[0152] In this embodiment, the control unit 217 determines the position of the label L in the suction unit 10 based on the transport amount of the label L transmitted from the label printing apparatus 100 .
[0153] In step S3, the control unit 217 receives a signal from the label printing apparatus 100 indicating that the label L has been conveyed up to the first distance.
[0154] In step S4, the control unit 217 switches the suction force generated by the suction unit 10 from the first suction force to the second suction force (S4 in FIG. 8).
[0155] That is, the control unit 217 transmits a control signal to the first control valve 213 so as to switch the suction force generated by the suction unit 10 from the first suction force to the second suction force.
[0156] At this time, as shown in FIG. 6, the label L is in a state where the continuous label web ML has been transported to a position where the openings 13 of the suction portions 10 except for the last row are closed.
[0157] Next, in step S5, the control unit 217 receives a signal from the label printing apparatus 100 indicating that the label L has been conveyed up to the second distance.
[0158] In step S6, the control unit 217 transmits a control signal to the second control valve 214 so that the third suction force is generated in the suction unit 10 (S6 in FIG. 8).
[0159] As a result, the label L is conveyed to a position where all of the openings 13 in the last row of the suction unit 10 are closed, as shown in FIG.
[0160] In this embodiment, in step S7, the control unit 217 turns off the first control valve 213 after a predetermined period Δt has elapsed since receiving a signal indicating that the label L has been transported to the second distance (Δt in Figure 8).
[0161] Furthermore, the control unit 217 turns on the second control valve 214 that generates the third attractive force before turning off the first control valve 213 that generates the second attractive force.
[0162] That is, when the control unit 217 receives a signal indicating that the label L has been transported to the second distance, it turns on the second control valve 214, and then, after a predetermined period Δt has elapsed since receiving the signal, it controls the first control valve 213 to turn off.
[0163] By generating a third suction force in the suction portion 10, the label L is attracted to and held on the suction surface 12 so as not to fall off.
[0164] Furthermore, in step S8, the control unit 217 receives a signal from the label printing device 100 indicating that the label L has been transported the second distance, and thereby starts the operation of extending the arm unit 221 toward the substrate A. Note that the operation of extending the arm unit 221 toward the substrate A may start after a predetermined period Δt has elapsed since the control unit 217 received a signal from the label printing device 100 indicating that the label L has been transported the second distance.
[0165] When the arm part 221 has extended to a predetermined distance from the attachment surface of the adherend A, in step S9, the control part 217 switches the pressure control part 212 so that compressed air is output to the suction part 10.
[0166] As a result, the inside of the suction part 10 becomes positive pressure, and the label L is blown towards the attachment surface of the adherend A and attached to the attachment surface of the adherend A.
[0167] [Functional Configuration of Labeling Apparatus] Next, the functional configuration of the labeling apparatus 1 will be described.
[0168] FIG. 9 is a functional block diagram illustrating the functional configuration of the label application device 1.
[0169] The label application device 1 includes a light detection unit 14 , a pressure detection unit 216 , a control unit 217 , a device communication unit 240 , a network communication unit 241 , and a status log storage unit 250 .
[0170] By providing these components, the labeling device 1 can set and change threshold values set in the labeling device 1 and realize various functions.
[0171] The "threshold" in this embodiment includes a threshold value of the intensity of the detection light for determining the presence or absence of the label L in the light detection unit 14, and a threshold value of the vacuum pressure value (input value) for determining whether the label L has been adsorbed to the adsorption unit 10 in the pressure detection unit 216. The "threshold" will be described in detail later.
[0172] The light detection unit 14, the pressure detection unit 216, and the control unit 217 correspond to the light detection unit 14, the pressure detection unit 216, and the control unit 217 shown in FIG.
[0173] The control unit 217 is composed of a microcomputer equipped with a central processing unit (CPU), a read-only memory (ROM), a random access memory (RAM), an input / output interface (I / O interface), and the like.
[0174] 9, the device communication unit 240 includes a digital I / O connector for transmitting and receiving digital input / output signals to and from an external device, and a communication interface for communicating with the external device, and is connected to the external device so as to be able to communicate with the external device via a wired or wireless connection. In this embodiment, the external devices are the label printing device 100 and the conveying device 200.
[0175] The device communication unit 240 can receive control signals in response to input from an operator to the display unit 160, which is a touch panel display provided in the label printing device 100, and can also receive signals indicating the status of the label printing device 100 and the conveying device 200.
[0176] The network communication unit 241 is an interface for connecting to a computer or a management server connected to a network such as an intranet or the Internet.
[0177] This allows the label application device 1 to transmit the detection value from the light detection unit 14, the negative pressure value detected by the pressure detection unit 216, etc. to the network, and to receive data used in the control unit 217 from the network.
[0178] When a specified event occurs in the label application device 1, the status log memory unit 250 stores, as a status log, the detection value of the light detection unit 14 and / or the pressure detection unit 216 at the time the specified event occurred and at least one threshold value that was set at the time the specified event occurred.
[0179] Furthermore, each time the state of the label application device 1 changes, the status log storage unit 250 stores the detected value of the light detection unit 14 and / or the pressure detection unit 216 and at least one threshold value as a status log.
[0180] The label application device 1 includes a storage unit (not shown) that stores programs executable by the processor of the control unit 217. The status log storage unit 250 may be provided as a virtual storage area of the storage unit.
[0181] <Description of Control Unit in Labeling Apparatus> The control unit 217 performs various processes required to affix the label L to the substrate by causing the CPU to read and execute programs stored in the ROM.
[0182] The control unit 217 also performs processing to change threshold values of the detection values detected by the light detection unit 14 and the pressure detection unit 216 that are required for various operations set in the label application device 1 .
[0183] As shown in Figure 9, the control unit 217 includes, as an example of functional configuration for the above processing, a judgment unit 261, a threshold setting unit 262, an error signal generation unit 263, a log creation unit 264, a display data generation unit 265, and a communication control unit 266.
[0184] The determination unit 261 determines the state of the label application device 1 based on the detection value of the light detection unit 14 or the pressure detection unit 216 and a predetermined threshold value.
[0185] The threshold setting unit 262 sets a predetermined threshold for determining the state of the label application device based on the detection value of the light detection unit 14 or the pressure detection unit 216. The threshold setting unit 262 also changes the threshold based on an operation input by the operator. One example of the operation input by the operator is an input from the display unit 160, which is a touch panel display of the label printing device 100.
[0186] For example, the error signal generating unit 263 generates an error signal for reporting an error that suggests a degradation in the performance of the reflected light sensor of the light detecting unit 14 .
[0187] When a specified event occurs in the label application device 1, the log creation unit 264 creates a status log that links the detection value by the light detection unit 14 and / or the pressure detection unit 216 at the time the specified event occurred with the threshold value that was set at the time the specified event occurred.
[0188] The display data generating unit 265 generates data for displaying the status log extracted from the status log storage unit 250 on the display unit 160 of the label printing device 100 .
[0189] The communication control unit 266 controls the network communication unit 241 to transmit the detection values of the light detection unit 14, the negative pressure values detected by the pressure detection unit 216, etc. to the network, and to receive data used in the control unit 217 from the network.
[0190] The determination section 261, threshold setting section 262, error signal generation section 263, log creation section 264 and display data generation section 265 in the control section 217 may be provided in the control unit 150 of the label printing device 100. Alternatively, they may be provided in a computer other than the label printing device 1 and the label printing device 100, which is connected to the label printing device 1 and the label printing device 100.
[0191] [Explanation of Functions Realized by Labeling Apparatus] Next, functions that can be realized by the labeling apparatus 1 by providing the control unit 217 with the above-described functional configuration will be described.
[0192] <Function of notifying a decrease in the detection intensity of the detected value in the light detection unit> The performance of the light-emitting element, which is the light source of the light-emitting unit in the light detection unit 14, may decrease with use. In this embodiment, a decrease in the performance of the light-emitting unit can be detected as a decrease in the intensity of the detection light incident on the light-receiving unit in the light detection unit 14.
[0193] The labeling device 1 of this embodiment sets a predetermined threshold value for the intensity of the detection light (hereinafter referred to as the detection value) incident on the light receiving portion of the light detection unit 14, and issues an alert when the detection value falls below the threshold value.
[0194] FIG. 10 is a schematic diagram illustrating two threshold values set in this embodiment and the detected values in the light detection unit 14. In FIG.
[0195] The solid line shown in Fig. 10 represents the intensity (detection value) of the detected light in the light detection unit 14. In Fig. 10, the first reflected light threshold Th1 is indicated by a two-dot chain line, and the second reflected light threshold Th2 is indicated by a one-dot chain line.
[0196] FIG. 10 shows a first period T1 during which a first suction force acts on the suction portion 10, a second period T2 during which a second suction force acts, and a third period T3 during which a third suction force acts.
[0197] In the label application device 1, the threshold setting unit 262 sets a first reflected light threshold Th1 and a second reflected light threshold Th2 as thresholds.
[0198] The first reflected light threshold Th1 is a threshold used to detect the presence or absence of the label L. The second reflected light threshold Th2 is a value that exceeds the first reflected light threshold Th1 and is a threshold used to determine whether the performance of the light detection unit 14 has deteriorated.
[0199] In this embodiment, the error signal generating unit 263 generates an error signal indicating a deterioration in the performance of the light detecting unit 14 when the determining unit 261 determines that the detection value in the light detecting unit 14 has fallen below the second reflected light threshold Th2.
[0200] The error signal generating unit 263 may also use the average value of a predetermined number of detection values when the light detecting unit 14 detects the label L. When the average value of the detection values falls below the second reflected light threshold Th2, the error signal generating unit 263 generates an error signal.
[0201] By using the average value, even if there is variation in the detection value when detecting the label L, it is possible to accurately capture the tendency for the detection value to fall below the second reflected light threshold Th2.
[0202] The first period T1 is a period during which a first suction force is applied to the suction section 10, which allows the downstream end Ld of the label L fed by the label printing device 100 to be attracted to a partial opening 13 of the suction section 10, and enables the label L to move in the suction section 10 without falling from the suction section 10.
[0203] The second period T2 is a period during which a second suction force, which is weaker than the first suction force and enables the label L to move in the suction portion 10, is applied to the suction portion.
[0204] The third period T3 is a period during which a third suction force capable of holding the label L on the suction part 10 is applied to the suction part 10.
[0205] Furthermore, Figure 10 shows that when the end of the label L printed by the printing operation of the label printing device 100 reaches the detection opening 15, the detection light reflected by the label L is detected by the light detection unit 14, and the intensity of the detection value shown by the solid line is increased.
[0206] 10 shows that when the light detection unit 14 is in a normal state, the detection value exceeds the second reflected light threshold Th2. On the other hand, when the performance of the light detection unit 14 is degraded, the detection value falls below the second reflected light threshold Th2.
[0207] In this embodiment, when the performance of the light detection unit 14 deteriorates and the upper limit of the intensity of the detected value falls below the second reflected light threshold Th2, an error signal is generated. Based on the error signal, the display unit 160 can display that it is time to replace the light detection unit 14.
[0208] In this embodiment, the second reflected light threshold Th2 can be increased or decreased by an operator's input. For example, by setting the second reflected light threshold Th2 high, a decrease in the peak of the detected value can be detected at an earlier timing. This allows the operator to be notified of the need to replace the light detection unit 14 earlier than the allowable use period of the light detection unit 14.
[0209] Furthermore, by setting the second reflected light threshold Th2 low, it is possible to delay the timing at which a decrease in the upper limit of the intensity of the detected value is detected, thereby enabling the light detection unit 14 to be used over the permitted usage period.
[0210] In addition, in this embodiment, as an example, the error signal generation unit 263 generates an error signal when the average of the last 10 detection values when the light detection unit 14 detects the label L falls below the second reflected light threshold Th2. The detection value when the label L is not detected causes a significant decrease in the average detection value, reducing the accuracy of the performance degradation determination.
[0211] For this reason, the detection value when the label L is not detected is stored in the status log storage unit 250 as a status log, but it is preferable that it is not used to calculate the average value of the detection values.
[0212] As a result, the label application device 1 can detect a decrease in the performance of the light-emitting unit (light source) in the light detection unit 14, and can therefore notify the operator that the light-emitting unit (light source) is nearing the time to replace it or that the light-emitting unit has malfunctioned.
[0213] When the light detection section 14 is evaluated based on the resistance value of the light receiving element in the light detection section 14, the relationship between the increase and decrease in the detection value is not limited to the above description.
[0214] For example, when the light detection unit 14 is evaluated based on the resistance value of the light receiving element in the light detection unit 14, the threshold setting unit 262 sets the second reflected light threshold Th2, which is used to determine whether the performance of the light detection unit 14 has deteriorated, to a value lower than the first reflected light threshold Th1, which is used to detect the presence or absence of the label L. The intensity of the detected light in the light detection unit 14, represented by the solid line, behaves in a manner opposite to that shown in Figure 5. This case is also included in the present invention.
[0215] <Function to notify cleaning of light detection unit> In this embodiment, the light detection unit 14 is a photoelectric sensor including a light emitting unit and a light receiving unit. Therefore, if the suction unit 10 is dirty, the detection light is reflected by dust or dirt adhering to the detection opening 15 and hits the light receiving unit, reducing the resistance value of the photoconductive element in the light receiving unit. This increases the detected voltage value.
[0216] Therefore, the label application device 1 of this embodiment sets a cleaning judgment threshold for the intensity (detection value) of the detection light incident on the light receiving section in the light detection unit 14, and when the detection value rises above this threshold, it can generate a cleaning request error signal that notifies of a request for cleaning of the suction unit 10.
[0217] FIG. 11 is a schematic diagram illustrating the cleaning determination threshold value set in this embodiment and the detection value in the light detection unit 14. In FIG.
[0218] In the label application device 1, the threshold setting unit 262 sets a cleaning determination threshold Th3 as a threshold value for determining whether or not cleaning of the suction unit 10 is required.
[0219] 11 indicates the intensity (detection value) of the detected light by the light detection unit 14. In addition, in FIG. 11, the cleaning determination threshold value Th3 is indicated by a two-dot chain line.
[0220] FIG. 11 shows, as an example, the intensity of the detected light in the light detection unit 14 during a predetermined period T4 after the power is turned on, that is, after the power of the label application device 1 is turned on.
[0221] 11 shows that the intensity (detection value) of the detection light incident on the light receiving portion of the light detection unit 14 is higher than the cleaning determination threshold value. This means that the detection light is reflected by dust or dirt on the light detection unit 14 and strikes the light receiving portion.
[0222] In this case, the error signal generating unit 263 generates an error signal that notifies a request for cleaning of the suction unit 10. As a result, based on the error signal for the cleaning request, it is possible to display on the display unit 160 of the label printing device 100, for example, that it is time to clean the light detection unit 14.
[0223] The determination unit 261 determines whether the detection value exceeds the cleaning determination threshold when the label application device 1 is powered on and / or when the error state of the label application device 1 is cleared.
[0224] When the determination unit 261 determines that the cleaning determination threshold has been exceeded, the error signal generation unit 263 generates a cleaning request error signal that notifies a cleaning request.
[0225] In this embodiment, "when the power is turned on" means a period from when the labeling device 1 is turned on until a predetermined time has elapsed.
[0226] On the other hand, "when the error state is cleared" includes when a label end error is cleared, which occurs when the end (label end) of the rolled continuous label strip ML is detected. In other words, it refers to the period from when the roll of the continuous label strip ML is replaced until a predetermined time has elapsed.
[0227] Furthermore, "when the error state is cleared" includes when the suction error is cleared. That is, the suction error is an error that occurs when a poor suction of the label L to the suction unit 10 is detected, and the suction error is cleared when the label L is removed from the suction unit 10.
[0228] When the power is turned on and when the error state is released, the label L is not present in a position that blocks the detection opening 15. Therefore, the detection value can be reliably obtained when the label L is not present.
[0229] In this embodiment, the cleaning determination threshold value Th3 can be increased or decreased by an operator's input operation. For example, by setting the cleaning determination threshold value Th3 high, it is possible to set the application process to be executed with priority even if there is even a small amount of dust or dirt.
[0230] Furthermore, by setting the cleaning determination threshold value Th3 low, the timing to prompt the operator to clean the light detection unit 14 can be notified earlier than the normal cleaning timing.
[0231] As described above, the label application device 1 can notify the operator when it is time to clean the light emitting section (light source) in the light detection section 14 .
[0232] When the light detection section 14 is evaluated based on the resistance value of the light receiving element in the light detection section 14, the relationship between the increase and decrease in the detection value is opposite to that described above.
[0233] <Function to notify of suction errors in the suction section> (Explanation of suction error determination using two thresholds) As explained in Figure 2, the label application device 1 is capable of switching the suction force generated in the suction section 10 between a first suction force, a second suction force, and a third suction force by the control of the first control valve 213, the second control valve 214, the negative pressure generating section 215, etc. by the control section 217.
[0234] In this embodiment, the threshold setting unit 262 sets a first adsorption threshold Th4 and a second adsorption threshold Th5, which is greater than the first adsorption threshold, as thresholds for determining whether the label L is properly attached to the adsorption unit 10, which is switchable between three adsorption forces.
[0235] FIG. 12 is a diagram illustrating a change in the suction force generated by the suction unit 10 and two threshold values set for the suction force generated by the suction unit 10. In FIG.
[0236] FIG. 12 shows a first determination period D1 for determining a suction error, i.e., when the label L is not properly attached to the suction portion 10, and a second determination period D2 following the first determination period.
[0237] The first determination period D1 is a period for monitoring suction errors during printing. In this embodiment, a suction error during printing indicates that the label L is not properly held by the suction unit 10 after being conveyed while being printed.
[0238] In this embodiment, an error that occurs while the label printing apparatus 100 is printing and transporting the label L is not included in the suction error during printing.
[0239] On the other hand, the second determination period D2 is a period for monitoring suction errors during label application. In this embodiment, a suction error during label application indicates that the label L is not properly held by the suction unit 10 after the printed and conveyed label L has been moved to the suction unit 10 and before the suction unit 10 moves to the object to which the label L is to be applied.
[0240] In this embodiment, a waiting period D0 is set from immediately after the printing and transport of the label L in the label printing device 100 is completed, that is, from when the downstream end Ld of the peeled label L is transported so as to sequentially block the opening 13 of the suction section 10, and the label L is handed over to the suction section 10, until the operation of the arm section 221 begins.
[0241] 3, in the label application device 1, the suction unit 10 has a plurality of openings 13 arranged along the conveyance direction of the label L. The label L printed and conveyed in the label printing device 100 is sequentially attracted to the suction unit 10, starting from the edge of the label L.
[0242] The pressure detection unit 216 can detect pressure changes as the labels L are successively sucked to the openings 13 of the suction unit 10. Therefore, the pressure detection unit 216 can detect the negative pressure value when all the openings 13 are blocked, and the negative pressure value when all the openings except one are closed.
[0243] In this way, in this embodiment, the pressure detection unit 216 can function as a label detection unit that detects a label.
[0244] The determination unit 261 determines whether the negative pressure value detected by the pressure detection unit 216 exceeds the first adsorption threshold value Th4 at the time when the first determination period D1 has elapsed.
[0245] If the determination unit 261 determines that the negative pressure value does not exceed the first adsorption threshold value Th4 at the end of the first determination period D1, the error signal generation unit 263 generates an error signal.
[0246] The determination unit 261 also determines whether the negative pressure value detected by the pressure detection unit 216 has been lower than the second adsorption threshold value Th5 continuously for a predetermined time or more within the second determination period D2.
[0247] The error signal generating unit 263 generates an error signal when the determining unit 261 determines that the adsorption threshold value has been below the second adsorption threshold value Th5 continuously for a predetermined time or more within the second determination period D2.
[0248] In this embodiment, the waiting period D0 can be set appropriately depending on the conveying speed of the label L in the label printing apparatus 100, the operating speed of the arm portion 221, and the like.
[0249] For example, if the determination of a suction error for the label L can be completed after the arm portion 221 starts operating and before it reaches the adherend A, it is not necessary to provide a waiting period.
[0250] Substantially no waiting period means that the arm section 221 is operated after the printing and transport of the label L in the label printing device 100 is completed, that is, after the downstream end Ld of the peeled label L has been transported so as to sequentially block the opening 13 of the suction section 10, and after the upstream end Lu of the label L is still attached to the backing sheet S.
[0251] (Adsorption Error Determination Process Using Two Thresholds) Next, the adsorption error determination process executed by the determination unit 261 using the first adsorption threshold Th4 and the second adsorption threshold Th5 described above will be specifically described.
[0252] FIG. 13 is a flowchart illustrating the adsorption error determination process executed by the control unit 217.
[0253] In step S11, the control unit 217 starts operating the arm unit 221 after the printing and conveying of the label L in the label printing device 100 has finished and the waiting period D0 has elapsed, and in step S12, the control unit 217 starts counting the first determination period D1.
[0254] When the first determination period D1 has elapsed (step S12: Yes), the control unit 217 determines in step S13, using the determination unit 261, whether the negative pressure value detected by the pressure detection unit 216 exceeds the first adsorption threshold value Th4.
[0255] If the negative pressure value detected by the pressure detection unit 216 is less than the first adsorption threshold Th4 (step S13: No), the control unit 217 determines that the label L is not properly attached to the adsorption unit 10, and in step S14, the control unit 217 generates an error signal indicating an adsorption error using the error signal generation unit 263 and stops the operation of the arm unit 221.
[0256] If the negative pressure value detected by the pressure detection unit 216 is equal to or greater than the first adsorption threshold value Th4 (step S13: Yes), the control unit 217 starts counting the second determination period D2 in step S15. The label L is adhered to the adherend A by the arm unit 221 extending toward the adherend A, or is affixed to the adherend surface of the adherend A by being blown toward the adherend surface.
[0257] In addition, in step S16, the control unit 217 determines whether the negative pressure value detected by the pressure detection unit 216 has been lower than the second adsorption threshold value Th5 continuously for a predetermined time or more within the second determination period D2.
[0258] If the negative pressure value detected by the pressure detection unit 216 falls below the second adsorption threshold Th5 for a predetermined period of time or more within the second judgment period D2 (step S16: Yes), in step S17, the control unit 217 determines that the label L is not properly attached to the adsorption unit 10, and in step S17, the control unit 217 generates an error signal indicating an adsorption error using the error signal generation unit 263 and stops the operation of the arm unit 221.
[0259] The process returns to step S15 and steps S16 and S17 are repeated until the second determination period D2 ends.
[0260] When only one threshold value is set to determine whether the label L is properly held in the suction unit 10, the arm unit 221 is operated after waiting for a time lag until the increase in suction force caused by the label L being adsorbed to the suction unit 10 is reflected in the negative pressure value detected by the pressure detection unit 216.
[0261] Therefore, when attempting to accurately detect an adsorption error of label L to the adsorption section 10, it is necessary to take the above-mentioned time lag into consideration and set the judgment time sufficiently long, which poses the problem of throughput reaching a plateau.
[0262] Alternatively, there was a problem in that the arm portion 221 reached the surface of the adherend A before it was determined that there was an adsorption error in the label L to the adsorption portion 10, and the attachment of the label L was completed in a defective state.
[0263] In contrast, according to the suction error judgment process using two thresholds by the label application device 1 of this embodiment, after the waiting period D0, when the first judgment period D1 has elapsed, the control unit 217 judges, via the judgment unit 261, whether the negative pressure value detected by the pressure detection unit 216 exceeds the first suction threshold Th4.
[0264] That is, according to the label application device 1, the start of operation of the arm unit 221 is advanced, and the determination based on the first attraction threshold value Th4 is performed while the arm unit 221 is operating. This makes it possible to improve the speed of the label application operation.
[0265] In this embodiment, the above-mentioned first adsorption threshold value Th4 and second adsorption threshold value Th5 only need to be capable of determining an adsorption error of the label L after the arm portion 221 starts operating and before it reaches the substrate A, and both can be set arbitrarily by the operator.
[0266] (Function of Setting Two Thresholds) The labeling device 1 according to this embodiment has a function of setting the first attraction threshold Th4 and the second attraction threshold Th5 described above.
[0267] FIG. 14 is a flowchart illustrating the process executed by the label application apparatus 1 for setting the first attraction threshold value Th4 and the second attraction threshold value Th5.
[0268] The threshold setting unit 262 sets the first adsorption threshold Th4 based on the negative pressure value corresponding to the adsorption force generated in the adsorption unit 10 when all openings except one of the multiple openings 13 are blocked.
[0269] Furthermore, the threshold setting unit 262 sets the second suction threshold Th5 based on the negative pressure value corresponding to the suction force generated in the suction unit 10 when all of the multiple openings 13 are closed.
[0270] In step S21, the control unit 217 displays guidance such as "Please cover all openings except for one of the openings" on the display unit 160 of the label printing apparatus 100, for example.
[0271] In step S22, the control unit 217 waits for a predetermined period of time while the operator follows the guidance to close all openings except one, and then acquires the negative pressure value generated in the suction unit 10 detected by the pressure detection unit 216.
[0272] In step S23, the control unit 217 sets the first adsorption threshold value Th4 in the threshold value setting unit 262 based on the negative pressure value acquired from the pressure detection unit 216. As an example, the control unit 217 can set the first adsorption threshold value Th4 to a value obtained by subtracting a predetermined value from the acquired negative pressure value, or to a value obtained by multiplying the negative pressure value by a predetermined ratio.
[0273] Subsequently, in step S24, the control unit 217 displays guidance such as "Please cover all openings" on the display unit 160 of the label printing apparatus 100, for example.
[0274] In step S25, the control unit waits for a predetermined period of time while the operator follows the guidance to close all openings, and then acquires the negative pressure value generated in the suction unit 10 detected by the pressure detection unit 216.
[0275] In step S26, the control unit 217 sets the negative pressure value acquired from the pressure detection unit 216 as the second adsorption threshold value Th5 in the threshold value setting unit 262. As an example, the control unit 217 can set the second adsorption threshold value Th5 to a value obtained by subtracting a predetermined value from the acquired negative pressure value, or a value obtained by multiplying the acquired negative pressure value by a predetermined ratio.
[0276] In the above process, the processes from step S24 to step S26 may be executed before the processes from step S21 to step S23.
[0277] In the label application device 1 according to this embodiment, the first suction threshold value Th4 is set based on the negative pressure value detected when all of the openings 13 except for one of the openings 13 are closed, and the second suction threshold value Th5 is set based on the negative pressure value detected when all of the openings 13 are closed.
[0278] Therefore, according to the label application device 1, it is possible to set the first attraction threshold value Th4 and the second attraction threshold value Th5 more accurately than when the operator sets them.
[0279] <Function of notifying decrease in suction force from initial value in suction unit> The performance of the negative pressure generating unit 215 for generating negative pressure may decrease with use. In this embodiment, the decrease in performance of the negative pressure generating unit 215 can be detected as a decrease in the negative pressure value detected by the pressure detecting unit 216.
[0280] The labeling device 1 according to this embodiment sets a predetermined threshold value for the negative pressure value detected by the pressure detection unit 216, and issues an alert when the detected negative pressure value falls below the threshold value.
[0281] FIG. 15 is a schematic diagram illustrating the decrease determination threshold Th6 set in this embodiment and the negative pressure value detected by the pressure detection unit 216.
[0282] The solid line in Fig. 15 represents the negative pressure value detected by the pressure detection unit 216. In Fig. 15, the decrease determination threshold value Th6 is indicated by a two-dot chain line.
[0283] In this embodiment, an increase determination threshold value Th7 can also be set to notify when the negative pressure value detected by the pressure detection unit 216 increases. In Fig. 15, the increase determination threshold value Th7 is indicated by a dashed line.
[0284] In the label application device 1, the threshold setting unit 262 sets, as an initial value, a negative pressure value corresponding to the suction force generated in the suction unit 10 when all of the plurality of openings 13 are closed.
[0285] The threshold setting unit 262 sets a decrease determination threshold Th6 as a predetermined threshold for determining a decrease in the negative pressure value corresponding to the suction force generated by the suction unit 10.
[0286] The degradation determination threshold Th6 is a threshold used to detect the presence or absence of the label L in the suction unit 10. In other words, it is a threshold used to determine whether the suction unit 10 can hold the label L for a period corresponding to the second determination period D2 for monitoring for suction errors during label attachment.
[0287] As an example, the threshold setting unit 262 sets a value that is lower than the initial value by a predetermined amount as the decrease determination threshold Th6.
[0288] In this embodiment, the error signal generating unit 263 generates an error signal when the determining unit 261 determines that the negative pressure value detected during the second determination period D2 has fallen below the decrease determination threshold value Th6.
[0289] Similarly, the threshold setting unit 262 sets a value that is higher than the initial value by a predetermined amount as the increase determination threshold Th7.
[0290] In this embodiment, the error signal generating unit 263 generates an error signal when the determining unit 261 determines that the negative pressure value detected during the second determination period D2 exceeds the increase determination threshold Th7.
[0291] In this embodiment, the error signal generating unit 263 may generate an error signal indicating a decline in the performance of the negative pressure generating unit 215 when the judgment unit 261 judges that the average value of the negative pressure value has fallen below the decline judgment threshold value Th6.
[0292] In this embodiment, when the performance of the negative pressure generating unit 215 deteriorates and the upper limit of the detected negative pressure value falls below the deterioration determination threshold value Th6, an error signal is generated. This allows the display unit 160 to notify the operator that it is time to replace the negative pressure generating unit 215 based on the error signal.
[0293] Also, in this embodiment, as an example, the error signal generating unit 263 generates an error signal when the average value of the past 10 negative pressure values when the pressure detection unit 216 detects the label L falls below the decrease determination threshold Th6.
[0294] By using the average value, even if there is variation in the negative pressure value when detecting the label L, it is possible to accurately capture the tendency for the detected negative pressure value to fall below the decrease determination threshold Th6.
[0295] If the label L does not cover all of the opening 13, i.e., if the label L is attached to the suction portion 10 in an abnormal state, this will cause a significant decrease in the average negative pressure value, reducing the accuracy of determining performance degradation.
[0296] For this reason, the negative pressure value when the label L is not detected is stored in the status log storage unit 250 as a status log, but it is preferable not to use it to calculate the average negative pressure value.
[0297] In this way, the label application device 1 can detect a decrease in the performance of the negative pressure generating unit 215. This makes it possible to notify the operator that the negative pressure generating unit 215 is malfunctioning or that it is nearing the time to replace it.
[0298] <Function of Remotely Monitoring the Labeling Device> The labeling device 1 according to this embodiment is equipped with the network communication unit 241, and is therefore capable of transmitting and receiving data to and from a computer or management server connected to a network, thereby enabling the labeling device 1 to be remotely monitored.
[0299] FIG. 16 is a schematic diagram illustrating an example of a management system 300 including the label application device 1.
[0300] The management system 300 is configured by connecting, via a network NW, a plurality of label application apparatuses 1A, 1B, ..., 1X to a management server 301 that manages the label application apparatuses 1. A plurality of management servers 301 may be connected to the management system 300.
[0301] The labeling apparatus 1A can receive update information for the control program of the labeling apparatus 1A from the management server 301 via the network NW.
[0302] The label application device 1A transmits data on the detection value by the light detection unit 14 and the negative pressure value detected by the pressure detection unit 216 to the management server 301 via the communication control unit 266.
[0303] According to the labeling device 1 of this embodiment, data on the detected values and negative pressure values can be used in the management server 301 .
[0304] <Function to remotely set thresholds of label application device> The threshold setting unit 262 can change the above-mentioned first reflected light threshold Th1, second reflected light threshold Th2, cleaning determination threshold Th3, first adsorption threshold Th4, second adsorption threshold Th5, and deterioration determination threshold Th6 based on setting values received from the management server 301 via the network NW and through the network communication unit 241.
[0305] <Function of recording thresholds> The label application device 1A can transmit the above-mentioned first reflected light threshold Th1, second reflected light threshold Th2, cleaning determination threshold Th3, first adsorption threshold Th4, second adsorption threshold Th5, and deterioration determination threshold Th6 to the management server 301 via the network NW.
[0306] Each time the state of the label application device 1 changes, the control unit 217 associates the detected value with at least one threshold value and stores the result in the status log storage unit 250 as a status log.
[0307] FIG. 17 is a diagram illustrating an example of a status log.
[0308] The status log includes time information, log type, error type (error name), and status. The status log also includes the detected value of the light detection unit 14, the time-series transition of the on / off states of the actuator and external input / output signals, the time-dependent change (time chart) of the detected value detected by the light detection unit 14, and the time-dependent change (time chart) of the negative pressure value detected by the pressure detection unit 216.
[0309] The status log also includes a print log, which includes print image data and print text data.
[0310] The status log also includes a condition log, which includes printing information such as the lifespan and travel distance of the thermal head in the label printing device 100, the number of label application operations in the label application device 1, the number of passes, and the total power-on time.
[0311] The status log also includes information related to printing and transport, such as offset, platen wear, print position, print density, print density adjustment, factory offset, and factory print position setting.
[0312] The status log also includes information regarding the adsorption of the label, such as the adsorption force value during printing, the adsorption force value at the end of printing, the upper limit of the adsorption force, the first reflected light threshold Th1, the second reflected light threshold Th2, the cleaning determination threshold Th3, the first adsorption threshold Th4, the second adsorption threshold Th5, the deterioration determination threshold Th6, the waiting period D0 from when the label L is handed over to the adsorption unit 10 until the arm unit 221 starts operating, and the intensity of the detected light in the light detection unit 14.
[0313] The status log also includes the cylinder forward speed, cylinder backward speed, sensor type, backfeed operation, back timing, print speed, and reference point correction vertical position of the label application device.
[0314] When an event occurs in the label application device 1, the log creation unit 264 extracts each log linked to the time information at which the event occurred from the status log storage unit 250 and creates an event log folder with the time information as the folder name.
[0315] FIG. 18 is a schematic diagram illustrating an event log folder created by the log creating unit 264. As shown in FIG.
[0316] FIG. 18 shows an event log folder A with the folder name 20200422_102247 as time information, an event log folder B with the folder name 20200422_102230 as time information, and an event log folder C with the folder name 20200424_102226 as time information.
[0317] As shown in the event log folder C, the event log folder includes, for example, data related to a TAMP log, a print log, and a status log.
[0318] According to the label application device 1 of this embodiment, when a predetermined event occurs, an event log folder is created based on information extracted from the status log stored in the status log storage unit 250.
[0319] This makes it easier for the operator to grasp the state of the labeling device 1 when a predetermined event occurs in the labeling device 1, and allows for suitable feedback when changing the settings and thresholds of the labeling device 1.
[0320] <Function of comparing and displaying various values at two points in time> By using the status log described above, the labeling device 1 according to this embodiment can display the detected value obtained at any timing by the light detection unit 14. Similarly, the negative pressure value detected by the pressure detection unit 216 can also be displayed.
[0321] In the control unit 217 of the label application device 1, the display data generation unit 265 extracts the detection value and threshold value obtained at an arbitrary first timing and the detection value and threshold value obtained at an arbitrary second timing from the above-mentioned status log, and generates data for displaying these values in an overlapping manner.
[0322] FIG. 19 is a diagram illustrating data generated by the display data generating unit 265, which compares and displays the change behavior of the negative pressure value detected by the pressure detecting unit 216 at two points in time.
[0323] 19, as an example, the arbitrary first timing is the time of shipment from the factory, and the arbitrary second timing is the most recent use. The behavior C1 of the negative pressure value at the time of shipment from the factory is shown by a solid line. The behavior C2 of the negative pressure value at the most recent use is shown by a two-dot chain line.
[0324] According to the labeling device 1 of this embodiment, the operator can easily understand the state of the labeling device at the first timing and the state of the labeling device at the second timing, and can provide appropriate feedback for changing settings and thresholds.
[0325] [Programs] The suction process and the attachment process in the label attachment device 1 described above can be realized by programs that can be executed by the control unit 217 of the label attachment device 1. These programs are stored in the ROM, memory unit, etc. of the control unit 217 of the label attachment device 1, and are executed by the processor.
[0326] [Other Embodiments] The present embodiment has been described above, but the above embodiment merely shows one application example of the present invention, and is not intended to limit the technical scope of the present invention to the specific configuration of the above embodiment.
[0327] In this embodiment, the continuous label web ML used in the label printing apparatus 100 may be a so-called "outside wound roll" in which the labels L are wound so as to be positioned radially outward from the backing sheet.
[0328] When an outer winding roll is used, the position of the damper unit 114 can be adjusted so that a predetermined tension can be applied to the label web ML while supporting the surface to which the labels L are temporarily attached.
[0329] The continuous label ML may be a wound roll label, or may be, for example, a so-called fanfold label, in which a continuous label is divided by perforations to form a predetermined label size and then folded along the perforations.
[0330] In this embodiment, the label L may be a so-called RFID label that includes an antenna and an IC chip compatible with RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) technology that transmits and receives information by contactless communication.
[0331] In this embodiment, a plurality of openings 13 are formed in the last row downstream in the conveying direction F of the plurality of openings 13 formed in the suction surface 12 of the suction unit 10. In contrast, only one opening may be formed in the last row.
[0332] Furthermore, the size, number and arrangement of the openings 13 are not limited to those of the present embodiment as long as they are capable of suction-transporting and suction-holding the labels L.
[0333] In this embodiment, it has been explained that a detection opening 15 is formed on the adsorption surface 12 to allow the detection light from the light detection unit 14 and the reflected light reflected by the label L to pass through. However, the position of the detection opening 15 may be any position as long as it is possible to detect that the label L is adsorbed to the adsorption surface 12, and it may be formed on the downstream end side of the conveying direction F, or on the upstream end side.
[0334] The labeling device 1 may have a detection unit that detects, for example, the material of the label L to be used, the usage environment (temperature, humidity, air pressure), and the like.
[0335] In this embodiment, it may be possible to select a mode in which detection of the label L is performed by the light detection unit 14 and a mode in which detection of the label L is performed by the pressure detection unit 216. Furthermore, there may be a label application device that does not include the light detection unit 14.
[0336] In this embodiment, the pressure detection unit 216 can detect whether or not there is a label L in the suction unit 10, so there is no need to change the specifications of the control unit 217 even for label application devices that do not have a light detection unit 14 installed.
[0337] In the present embodiment, it has been described that the error signal generating unit 263 generates an error signal indicating a degradation in performance of the light detecting unit 14 when the determining unit 261 determines that the detection value in the light detecting unit 14 is below the second reflected light threshold Th2. However, the error signal generating unit 263 may also generate an error signal when the determining unit 261 determines that the detection value in the light detecting unit 14 is above the second reflected light threshold Th2.
[0338] In this embodiment, the display unit 160 may be provided in the labeling device 1. In this case, the display unit 160 can receive operation input to the labeling device 1 and display the negative pressure generated in the suction unit 10 over time. A display unit may be provided in each of the labeling device 1 and the label printing device 100.
[0339] In this embodiment, in step S7, when the control unit 217 receives a signal indicating that the label L has been transported to the second distance, it turns on the second control valve 214, and then, after a predetermined period Δt has elapsed since receiving the signal, it controls the first control valve 213 to turn off.
[0340] In response to this, the control unit 217 may turn off the first control valve 213 that generates the second attraction force and at the same time turn on the second control valve 214 that generates the third attraction force.
[0341] In addition, in the present embodiment, step S8 is executed following step S7, but the order of steps S8 and S7 may be reversed.
[0342] In this embodiment, the various programs of the label printing device 100 may be stored in a non-transitory recording medium such as a CD-ROM.
[0343] This application claims priority based on Japanese Patent Application No. 2023-169921, filed with the Japan Patent Office on September 29, 2023, the entire contents of which are incorporated herein by reference.
