Abstract
Description
[0001] DESCRIPTION
[0002] AN ORGANIC-CONTENT CABLE AND PRODUCTION METHOD FOR AN ORGANIC-
[0003] CONTENT CABLE
[0004] Technical Field
[0005] The invention relates to an organic-content cable and production method for improving its physical properties and increasing its resistance to temperature and abrasion by using waste organic material.
[0006] In particular, the invention relates to a recyclable organic -content cable that provides electricity / power / signal transmission in systems requiring high temperature resistance and that reduces the production cost by using waste organic material while improving its physical properties such as flexibility, tensile strength, and increasing its resistance to temperature increase, combustion and abrasion, and to an organic-content cable production method for obtaining this cable.
[0007] State of the Art
[0008] In systems that provide high electrical power transmission such as solar energy / solar systems, rail systems, fire waming / response systems, the heat effects due to conduction and / or heat effects from the environment are quite high. For these reasons, in systems where such high power transmission is carried out, the outer insulation layers of the cables that provide electrical power transmission must have high resistance to high temperatures and physical abrasions against fire, abrasion and ignition. The power cables in question generally consist of a conductor layer, which is located in the center line of the cable and consists of a conductive wire helix formed by twisting multiple wires on top of each other, which enables the transmission of electric current, a filling layer made of composite material that enables the desired form of the wire bundle to be formed by wrapping around the conductor layer, and an outer layer, which is usually located on the filling layer at the outermost part of the cable, which protects the cable from external influences and provides both physical and electrical insulation and contains polymeric material.
[0009] Different polymeric materials are used in the outer layers of power cables used in current applications for insulation against physical effects and fire. One of these materials, Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC), is the most widely used material in cable production in terms of cost and is a thermoplastic insulator. The general operating temperature of PVC material, which is low in cost, durable and widely preferred, is between 70- 105°C, has low resistance to fire / heat and causes a dense, black and toxic smoke emission to the environment in case of chlorine (halogen) combustion. Therefore, it is not appropriate to use this material, especially in systems operating at high temperatures. Polyethylene (PE), a different polymer material, is a member of the polymer class called polyolefin and has lower dielectric losses than PVC material. This reduces its electrical insulation properties, but its resistance to physical voltage stress and moisture is better than PVC material. Also, since the general operating temperature is between (-)65-80°C, it is not suitable to use this material in systems operating at high temperatures, similar to PVC.
[0010] Crosslinked Polyethylene (XLPE), another preferred outer layer material, contains polymers that prevent high temperature melting and separation in different polyethylene chains that are crosslinked to each other. Hence, XLPE is suitable for use in systems operating at high temperatures, but it has higher dielectric losses compared to PE. It has high resistance to aging and water treeing and the general operating temperature is between 90-110°C. While all these properties make it preferred in terms of physical and heat resistance, it has undesirable properties such as high dielectric losses and high cost. Another currently used outer layer material, Ethylene Propylene Rubber (TPU), is a copolymer of ethylene and propylene and is more flexible than PE and XLPE but has higher dielectric losses. Polyurethane (PUR) has a general operating temperature of (-)50-90°C and has a flexible structure even at low temperatures and provides good resistance to chemicals and moisture, but it is not suitable for use in systems operating at high temperatures. Therefore, there is a need for the outer layer used in power cables to have high resistance to high temperatures and at the same time to reduce its cost and dielectric losses. Artificial and / or chemical additives used to improve these properties prevent the power cable from being recycled after use, and in the event of a fire, they cause the release of various hazardous gases into the environment, threatening human and environmental health.
[0011] In the state-of-the-art utility model document numbered CN217704174U, a granulation device consisting of a box body is described, especially for producing plastic cable particles. Through the structural design of the vibration mechanism, in the normal operation process of the granulator, an air cylinder drives a thrust plate to move downwards. A plastic material is removed from a discharge plate and a motor drives a blade to rotate and the plastic material is cut into pieces. It is noted that common plastic granules include general purpose plastics, engineering plastics and specialty plastics, among which general purpose plastics include polypropylene, polyethylene (PE), polyvinyl chloride (PVC), polystyrene, polyester, polyurethane, etc. The document does not mention a solution to reduce the cost and dielectric losses of the power cable while increasing its resistance to heat and physical external influences.
[0012] A patent document numbered JP2023103595A of the known technique describes a plastic fiber optic cable that has sufficient mechanical strength and a good appearance without damaging the optical properties of the plastic optical fiber. The cable has a core comprising a polymer having methylmethacrylate units and one or more layers of covering and plastic optical fiber strand provided on the outer peripheral surface of the core. It includes a core at the center, a cladding layer covering the outer periphery of the core, and a protective layer covering the outer perimeter of the cladding layer. The coating layer contains low density polyethylene resin. In the document in question, there is no mention of a solution to reduce the cost and dielectric losses while increasing the cable's resistance to heat and physical external effects.
[0013] In conclusion, there is a need to develop a recyclable organic-content cable that provides electricity / power / signal transmission, especially in systems where high temperature resistance is required, and that reduces the production cost by using waste organic material, while improving physical properties such as flexibility, tensile, yield strength, increasing resistance to temperature increase, combustion and abrasion, and at the same time reducing dielectric loss, and a production method for obtaining this cable.
