Description

[0001] A mechanism for opening and reclosing of the outflow opening for emptying a container, and the container incorporating that mechanism

[0002] The invention concerns a mechanism for opening and reclosing of the outflow opening for emptying a container and the container incorporating that mechanism, intended especially for food products, including non-carbonated beverages and CCh-saturated, carbonated beverages. The mechanism and the container may be made of plastic. The mechanism for opening and reclosing of the outflow opening for emptying a container may also be used in carton boxes and lids of metal cans.

[0003] Known from patent document WO 2014 / 003586 A2 is a reclosing mechanism for containers, particularly beverage containers, incorporating means for opening and reclosing the beverage outflow opening in the form of a latch fitted slidingly in the guides, where the latch touches on the bottom surface of the lid around the opening. On the top, the lid is fitted with a sliding pull tab on one side connected to the latch via a hinge and on the other connected to the latch via a connector which serves as the seal before the first opening, where on the side of the hinge and the pull tab front the lid features corresponding bearing surfaces which determine the initial position of the latch before the first opening.

[0004] Known from patent document WO 2020 / 209733 Al a lid of a container intended especially for beverages, featuring an opening for emptying the container, where the opening is fitted with guides formed on its two opposite walls and a latch for opening and reclosing the said opening. Formed on the top surface of the latch are two catches which are slidingly embedded on the said guides in the opening, and the latch features technical means for sliding the latch from the closed position to the open position and back. The catch surfaces which cooperate with the guides are tilted at a sharp angle with respect to the top surface of the latch, situated under the said catch surfaces, and are sloping down in the direction in which the latch moves to the open position, while formed on the bottom surface of the lid around the opening is a nest for the latch, where the nest is fitted along its circumference with profiled surfaces which seal the latch while in the nest in the closed position, and where the profiled surfaces contact the profile of the circumferential surfaces of the latch. When the opening is being opened, the latch simultaneously moves down away from the nest.

[0005] Known from patent document US 4,640,435 A is a plastic can for carbonated beverages, fitted with a plastic which snaps on the can. The can has a neck part ending in a blocking flange which curves outwards, its shape that of the reversed V letter in cross-section. The upper wall of the lid is concave and it fits into the can opening; the wall is fitted with a circumferential rim curving outwards and downwards thus forming a down-facing blocking groove in the shape of a reversed V letter in cross-section.

[0006] Disclosed in patent document US 4,487,326 A is a plastic container closed with a lid of flexible plastic, intended for pressurized beverages. The lid is bulged on the surface facing the inside of the container, where the lid rim incorporates an annual axial wall, a radial wall, and a circumferential wall which interlocks with the rim wall of the container. In addition, the lid has a sealing surface.

[0007] The known solutions are exposed to the risk of damage to the lid resulting from sudden and unpredictable pressures on the latch from outside which could result in moving the latch towards the centre of the container and in consequence in damaging the mechanism closing the opening for emptying the container. The snap-fit connections between the lid and the container body, on the other hand, do not guarantee the required strength in the conditions of increased pressure which characterize carbonated beverages.

[0008] The solution according to the present invention solves problems related to damages caused by external pressure on a mechanism for opening and reclosing of the opening for emptying a container, as well as those related to the strength of the connection between a container lid and the container body in the conditions of increased pressure inside the container intended for carbonated beverages.

Preferably, formed on the bottom surface of the container element behind the outflow opening for emptying the container, in the direction in which the latch moves to the open position, are additional guides, while formed on the bottom surface of the latch are additional catches embedded slidingly on the said additional guides.

[0012] Preferably, formed in the nest for the latch is a protrusion which guides the latch in the course of the opening and closing of the outflow opening for emptying the container, or formed in the said nest for the latch is a surface which guides the latch in the course of the opening and closing of the outflow opening for emptying the container.

[0013] Preferably, the guides on the bottom surface feature a recess, and formed in the nest for the latch is at least one pair of protrusions which guide the latch during the opening and closing of the outflow opening for emptying the container, where formed on the bottom surface of the latch is a pair of concavities which cooperate with the pair of protrusions guiding the latch in the course of the opening and closing of the outflow opening for emptying the container.

[0014] In another variant of the invention, a mechanism for opening and reclosing of the outflow opening for emptying the container, incorporating a latch and guides positioned on two opposite walls of the said outflow opening for emptying the container, where formed on the latch of the said mechanism are catches which are embedded slidingly on the said guides and where the latch incorporates an element for moving it from the closed position to the open position and back, is characterized in that the catches are formed on a bottom surface of the latch, where preferably the guides may take the form of bulges or grooves.

[0015] According to the present invention, a container incorporates the above-described mechanism for opening and reclosing of the outflow opening for emptying the container.

[0016] According to the present invention, a container incorporates a lid which incorporates the above-described mechanism for opening and reclosing of the outflow opening for emptying the container, and a container body non- detachably connected with the said lid.

[0017] Preferably, the lid features a flange on its side wall along the circumference, while a rim of a neck of the container body ends with a snap-fit flange bending towards the inside of the container body, where embedded under the flange is the flange of the lid, and where preferably there is a bearing flange on an inner surface of the neck of the container body, and where embedded on the flange is the lid, and where preferably the neck of the container body features notches or cut-outs, and / or the rim of the said flange of the lid features notches or cut-outs.

[0018] In another invention variant, the lid preferably features openings in its side wall along its circumference, and the container body features protrusions on an external side wall of the neck of the container body, where the protrusions are non-detachably embedded in the said openings in the lid, and where preferably the lid features notches or cut-outs in its side wall between the said openings, and where preferably the openings in the lid and the protrusions on the neck of the container body are given the shape of a triangle, preferably with rounded apexes, where one of the apexes is preferably pointing towards a top surface of the lid or towards a bottom of the container body.

[0075] Presented in Fig.l to Fig. 11 is the mechanism for opening and reclosing of the outflow opening for emptying the container according to the first embodiment of the invention, incorporating the outflow opening 2 for emptying the container, made in the lid 1 , and the latch 7 for opening and reclosing of the said outflow opening 2. Formed on the top surface la of the lid 1 is a nest 2a for the latch 7, where the nest features the said outflow opening 2 for emptying the container. Formed on the bottom surface lb of the lid 1 are guides 3, where their bottom surface 3a runs at an angle a with respect to the top surface la of the lid in the nest 2a for the latch 7 and is sloping down in the direction in which the latch 7 moves to the closed position. Formed in the nest 2a along the wall of the nest 2a which runs transversely with respect to the direction in which the latch 7 moves, is a surface 5a guiding the latch 7 in the course of the opening and closing of the outflow opening 2 for emptying the container. Formed on the bottom surface 7b of the latch 7 are catches 8 running at an angle a with respect to the bottom surface 7b of the latch 7 and sloping down in the direction in which the latch moves to the closed position. The angle at which the catches 8 are inclined with respect to the bottom surface 7b of the latch 7 is the same as the angle of inclination of the guides 3 with respect to the top surface la of the lid 1 in the nest 2a for the latch 7. The catches 8 are embedded slidingly on the guides 3. Formed on the top surface 7a of the latch 7 is a grip 10 for moving the latch from the closed position to the open position and back.

[0076] In the second embodiment of the invention shown in Fig. 12 to Fig. 23, the lid 1 incorporates the mechanism for opening and reclosing of the outflow opening 2 of a container. Formed on the top surface la of the lid 1 is the nest 2a for the latch 7, where the nest features the outflow opening 2 for emptying the container, while formed on the bottom surface lb of the lid 1 are guides 3 featuring a recess 4 on their bottom surface 3a. Formed in the nest 2a are two pairs of protrusions 6 which guide the latch 7 in the course of opening and closing of the outflow opening 2 for emptying the container, while formed on the bottom surface 7b of the latch 7 is a pair of concavities 9 cooperating with one of the pairs of the said protrusions 6 which guide the latch 7 in the course of opening and closing of the outflow opening 2 for emptying the container. The catches 8 are embedded slidingly on the guides 3. Formed on the top surface 7a of the latch 7 is a grip 10 for moving the latch from the closed position to the open position and back.

[0077] In the third embodiment of the invention presented in Fig. 24 to Fig. 35, the mechanism for opening and reclosing of the outflow opening for emptying a container is different from the mechanism in the first embodiment described above in that instead of the guiding surface 5a which guides the latch 7 in the course of opening and closing of the outflow opening 2 there is a protrusion 5 formed in the nest 2a, where the protrusion 5 guides the latch 7 in the course of opening and closing of the outflow opening 2.

[0078] In the fourth embodiment of the invention presented in Fig. 36 to Fig. 46, the mechanism for opening and reclosing of the outflow opening for emptying a container is different from the mechanism in the first and third embodiment described above in that formed on the bottom surface lb of the lid 1, behind the outflow opening 2 for emptying the container, in the direction in which the latch 7 moves to the open position, are additional guides 3 ’ running at an angle with respect to the top surface 1 a of the lid and sloping down in the direction in which the latch 7 moves to the closed position, while formed on the bottom surface 7b of the latch 7 are additional catches 8’ running at an angle with respect to the bottom surface 7b of the catch 7 and sloping down in the direction in which the latch 7 moves to the closed position, the catches embedded slidingly on the said additional guides 3’, via openings 2’ in the nest 2a for the latch 7. The angle at which the additional catches 8’ are inclined with respect to the bottom surface 7b of the latch 7 is the same as the angle of inclination of the guides 3’ with respect to the top surface la of the lid 1 in the nest 2a for the latch 7, and at the same time it is the same as or larger than the angle of inclination of the catches 8 with respect to the bottom surface 7b of the latch 7 and the angle of inclination of the bottom surface 3a of the guides 3 with respect to the top surface la of the lid 1 in the nest 2a for the latch 7.

[0079] In all embodiments of the invention the outflow opening 2 for emptying the container is opened by moving the latch 7 using the grip 10. In the first, third, and fourth invention embodiment, when the latch 7 is moved to the open position, the bottom surface 7a of the latch 7 moves up with respect to the nest 2a, where in the first embodiment of the invention the nest 2a is of the same size as the latch 7 and in the process of opening of the outflow opening 2 the latch 7 partially moves out of the nest 2a, whereas in the third and fourth embodiment, in the process of opening of the outflow opening 2 the latch 7 remains within the nest 2a, but it can also move out of the nest 2a.

[0080] In the second embodiment of the invention, when the latch 7 is being moved to the open position and once the catches 8 reach the recesses 4 in the bottom surface 3a of the guides 3, the latch 7 gets shifted up with respect to the nest 2a on the guiding protrusions 6, as shown in Fig. 17, and when the latch 7 is being moved farther, the latch 7 is guided on the said protrusions 6 at a distance from the surface of the nest 2a, as shown in Fig. 18.

[0081] In this embodiment of the invention, the latch, in the process of opening of the outflow opening 2 for emptying the container, can remain within the nest 2a or move out of the nest 2a.

[0082] In other invention embodiments not shown in figures, the mechanism for opening and reclosing of the outflow opening for emptying a container may have guides 3 formed on two opposite walls in the outflow opening 2 as bulges or grooves.

[0083] Shown in Fig. 47 to Fig. 61 is the container body 12 and the lid 1 which incorporates the mechanism described above and shown in Fig. 1 to Fig. 46. The container body is non-detachably connected with the lid via a snap-fit connection.

There is the bearing flange 12b on the inner surface of the neck 12’ for the lid 1 to rest thereon. To facilitate the mounting of the lid 1, the neck 12’ of the container body 12 features notches or cut-outs 12c running from the rim of the neck 12’ of the container body 12 towards its bottom. Moreover, the flange 11c of the lid 1 may feature notches or cut-outs facilitating the mounting of the lid 1 in the neck 12’ of the container body 12 (not shown in the drawing).

[0085] The stages of mounting the lid 1 in the neck 12’ of the container body 12 are shown in Fig. 49 to Fig. 51. Under force, the flange 11c of the lid 1 locks under the snap-fit flange 12d, where the lid 1 rests on the bearing flange 12b of the neck 12’ of the container body 12, forming a non-detachable connection.

[0086] In the second embodiment shown in Fig. 52 to Fig. 61, the snap-fit connection between the lid 1 and the container body 12 takes the form of openings Ila in the side wall 11 of the lid 1 around its circumference and protrusions 12a formed on the outer side wall of the neck 12’ of the container body 12 which are non-detachably embedded in the said openings Ila of the lid 1. The openings Ila of the lid 1 and the protrusions 12a of the neck 12’ of the container body 12 are given the shape of a triangle, preferably with rounded apexes.

[0087] In one of the variants shown in Fig. 52 to Fig. 56, the apexes of the protrusions 12a and the corresponding openings Ila point towards the top surface la of the lid 1, while in another variant, shown in Fig. 57 to Fig. 61, the apexes of the protrusions 12a and the corresponding openings Ila point towards the bottom of the container body 12.

[0088] To facilitate the mounting of the lid 1 on the neck 12’ of the container body 12, the lid 1 features notches or cut-outs 11b in its side wall 11, where the notches / cut-outs run from the rim towards the top surface la of the lid 1 and are situated between the openings Ila.

[0089] The stages of mounting the lid 1 on the neck 12’ of the container body 12 are shown in Fig. 54 to Fig. 56 and in Fig. 59 to Fig. 61. Under force, the protrusions 12a situated on the side wall of the neck 12’ of the container body 12 are embedded in the openings Ila in the side wall 11 of the lid 1, forming a non- detachable connection.

[0090] In all embodiments, there is a sealing element 13 between the lid 1 and the neck 12’ of the container body 12. List of numerical references
