Abstract

A label (200) for a product. The label has a first part (5), a second part (6) and a removable strip (3) between the first part and the second part, and a first line of weakness (7) and a second line of weakness (8). The removable strip has a first tab (1) and a second tab (2) for pulling together by a user for removing the removable strip (3) along the first and second lines of weakness (7, 8). The removable strip (3) further comprises a slit (4) between the first tab (1) and the second tab (2) which extends partially along the length of the removable strip for causing the removable strip (3) to tear when the user pulls only on the first tab (1) or pulls only on the second tab (2).

[0007] In accordance with some embodiments described herein, there is provided a label for a product, wherein the label comprises a first part, a second part and a removable strip between the first part and the second part, wherein the removable strip is joined to the first part along a first line of weakness and the removable strip is joined to the second part along a second line of weakness, wherein the removable strip comprises a first tab and a second tab for pulling together by a user for removing the removable strip from the label along the first and second lines of weakness, wherein the removable strip further comprises a slit between the first tab and the second tab, wherein the slit extends partially along the length of the removable strip for causing the removable strip to tear when the user pulls only on the first tab or pulls only on the second tab.

[0043] Detailed description

[0044] Fig. 1A shows a first example of label 10 for a product. The label 10 has a first part 5, a second part 6 and a removable strip 3 between the first part 5 and the second part 6. The removable strip 3 is joined to the first part 5 along a first line of weakness 7. The removable strip 3 is joined to the second part 6 along a second line of weakness 8. The removable strip 3 has a first tab 1 and a second tab 2 which can be pulled together in order to remove the removable strip 3 from the label 10. When the first tab 1 and the second tab 2 are pulled together by the user, the removable strip 3 is separated from the first part 5 and the second part 6 along the first and second lines of weakness 7, 8, respectively. The user may pinch the first and second tabs 1 , 2 together before pulling them together to remove the removable strip 3. The removable strip 3 further comprises a slit 4 between the first tab 1 and the second tab 2. The slit 4 allows the first and second tabs 1 , 2 to be moved independently from each other by a user. The slit 4 extends partially along the length of the removable strip 3. If a user pulls only on the first tab 1 then the removable strip 3 will tear from the end of the slit 20. Fig. 1 B illustrates the path of an example tear 11 that will form if the user pulls only on the first tab 1 .

[0045] If a user pulls only on the second tab 2 then the removable strip 3 will tear from the end of the slit 20. Fig. 1C illustrates the path of an example tear 12 that will form if the user pulls only on the second tab 2.

[0046] Since the removable strip 3 tears when a user pulls only on the first tab 1 or only on the second tab 2, it is subsequently more difficult and time consuming to remove the rest of the removable strip 3 from the label 10. A child, for example, may pull on only the first tab 1 or the second tab 2 without knowing the instructions for removing the removable strip 3. They may then give up on trying to remove the removable strip 3, and the tear on the removable strip would be indicative of the strip having been tampered with. Alternatively, the child may continue trying to remove the removable strip 3 after it has been tom but this is difficult and time consuming which gives more time for an adult to find the child before they have fully removed the removable strip 3.

Claims

Claims1 . A label for a product, wherein the label comprises a first part, a second part and a removable strip between the first part and the second part, wherein the removable strip is joined to the first part along a first line of weakness and the removable strip is joined to the second part along a second line of weakness, wherein the removable strip comprises a first tab and a second tab for pulling together by a user for removing the removable strip from the label along the first and second lines of weakness, wherein the removable strip further comprises a slit between the first tab and the second tab, wherein the slit extends partially along the length of the removable strip for causing the removable strip to tear when the user pulls only on the first tab or pulls only on the second tab.

The label of claim 1 , wherein the removable strip comprises a line of weakness extending from an end of the slit towards the first part for promoting the tearing of the removable strip towards the first line of weakness when the user pulls only on the first tab, and a further line of weakness extending from the end of the slit towards the second part for promoting the tearing of the removable strip towards the second line of weakness when the user pulls only on the second tab.

3. The label of claim 2, wherein the line of weakness which extends from the end of the slit toward the first part comprises a first slit and / or wherein the further line of weakness comprises a second slit.

4. The label of any one of the preceding claims, wherein the slit comprises a first part and a second part which are separated by a bridge which extends laterally across the slit, wherein the bridge is breakable by a user when a user pulls only on the first tab or pulls only on the second tab.

5. The label of any one of the preceding claims, wherein the slit is centrally located between the first part and the second part and / or wherein the slit is centrally located between the first tab and the second tab.
