[0032] Spray guns are generally known and may be commonly used to spray a wide variety of liquids such as paint, lacquer, cleansers, sealants, on a surface. The aforesaid spray guns may vary in size and shapes depending upon specific application requirements.

[0033] In spray guns, the liquid may be contained in a reservoir attached to the spray gun from which the liquid may be fed to a nozzle. The liquid may be fed to the spray gun as gravity fed or suction fed or pressure fed. A compressed air may be fed at a particular pressure from an air compressor to the spray gun. Upon emerging of the liquid from the nozzle, the liquid may be atomized via the compressed air supplied in vicinity of the nozzle, to form a spray. The flow / discharge of the liquid from the nozzle may be regulated by adjusting the opening of the nozzle via adjustment of settings of a control valve provided within the spray gun. PA102866W002

[0034] Thus, there exists a need for a system that may provide an effective indication of an accurate extent of opening of the nozzle within the spray gun to provide for an optimized regulation and control of the control valve settings.

[0035] The present disclosure provides a spray gun. The spray gun includes a spray gun body configured to discharge a liquid. The spray gun further includes a control valve operatively connected to the spray gun body for regulating the discharge of the liquid from the spray gun body. The spray gun further includes a first knob assembly mechanically coupled to the control valve for adjusting a control valve setting. The first knob assembly includes a first post extending from the spray gun body in a longitudinal direction. The first post has a first external surface along the longitudinal direction and a first post diameter along a radial direction substantially orthogonal to the longitudinal direction. The first external surface includes first markings to provide visual indicators for the adjustment of the control valve. The first knob assembly further includes a first head having a first head diameter greater than the first post diameter of the first post. The first head is fixedly attached to the first post in a manner that prevents rotation of the first head independently of the first post, such that rotation of the first head results in a corresponding rotation of the first post and the adjustment of the control valve is based on the alignment of the first markings with a first reference point on the spray gun body. The first knob assembly is configured such that the first markings on the first post provide a precise and durable indication of the control valve setting, and the fixed attachment of the first head to the first post ensures a unified and consistent adjustment mechanism for the spray gun.

[0036] The fixed attachment of the first head to the first post is a feature that can ensure a unified and consistent adjustment mechanism for the spray gun. This fixed attachment means that the head and the post are securely connected in such a way that they cannot rotate independently of each other. As a result, when the user rotates the head, this rotational motion is directly and accurately transmitted to the post. This unified movement is essential for several reasons. Firstly, the fixed attachment ensures that the rotational input applied by the user to the head is precisely transferred to the post, which allows for making fine-tuned adjustments to the control valve, allowing the user to achieve the desired spray pattern and liquid discharge rate with high accuracy. Secondly, by preventing independent rotation of the head and the post, the fixed attachment ensures that the adjustment mechanism operates consistently overtime. This consistency is important for achieving repeatable results, as the PA102866W002 user can rely on the same rotational input to produce the same adjustment outcome every time. Thirdly, the fixed attachment contributes to the durability of the adjustment mechanism. By securely connecting the head and the post, the mechanism is less likely to experience wear and tear that could result from relative movement between the two components, ensuring that the adjustment mechanism remains reliable and effective over the lifespan of the spray gun. Lastly, the unified and consistent adjustment mechanism enhances the overall user experience, as the user can confidently make adjustments without worrying about slippage or misalignment between the head and the post. This ease of use is particularly important in applications where precise control of the spray gun is required. In summary, the fixed attachment of the first head to the first post ensures that the adjustment mechanism of the spray gun operates as a single, cohesive unit, providing the user with a reliable, precise, and consistent means of adjusting the control valve, ultimately enhancing the performance and usability of the spray gun.

[0037] As used herein, the term "unified and consistent adjustment mechanism" refers to a design feature in which the components responsible for adjusting a setting (such as a control valve or spray pattern) are securely connected in a manner that ensures they operate as a single, cohesive unit. This means that any rotational or translational input applied to one component (e.g., the head) is directly and accurately transmitted to the other component (e.g., the post) without any relative movement between them. The unified and consistent adjustment mechanism ensures precision, reliability, and repeatability in the adjustment process, allowing the user to achieve the desired settings with high accuracy and confidence. This mechanism is designed to prevent slippage, misalignment, or independent movement of the connected components, thereby enhancing the overall performance and usability of the device .The spray gun of the present disclosure therefore provides the precise and durable indication of the control valve setting and ensures a unified and consistent adjustment mechanism for the spray gun. Specifically, the markings may allow a user to accurately and clearly adjust an extent of opening of a nozzle of the spray gun. Further, the user may achieve consistent and repeatable results when regulating the discharge of liquid from the spray gun. Moreover, the markings may provide a long-lasting indication that will not fade or wear away.

[0038] Referring now to Figures, FIG. 1 is a schematic side view of a spray gun 100, according to an embodiment of the present disclosure. PA102866W002

[0039] The spray gun 100 includes the spray gun body 102 configured to discharge a liquid. In some embodiments, the spray gun 100 further includes an air inlet 52 for receiving a compressed air within the spray gun body 102 from an air compressor (not shown). In some embodiments, the spray gun 100 further includes a liquid inlet 54 to receive the liquid from a reservoir, i.e., after the reservoir is removably attached with the liquid inlet 54. When a user pulls a trigger 62 provided on the spray gun body 102, the air inlet 52 and the liquid inlet 54 may simultaneously allow the compressed air and the liquid, respectively, to flow through the spray gun body 102 and towards a nozzle 56.

[0040] The compressed air may atomize the liquid emerging out of the nozzle 56 thereby breaking the liquid into fine droplets. A nozzle locking collar 60 may provide for tight and secure attachment of the nozzle 56 with the spray gun body 102. An air cap 58 surrounding the nozzle 56 may include openings for the discharge of the compressed air, to direct the atomized liquid into an accurate spray pattern. A handle 64 attached on the spray gun body 102, may provide a comfortable grip to the user’s hand during spraying.

[0041] The spray gun 100 further includes a control valve 104 operatively connected to the spray gun body 102 for regulating the discharge of the liquid from the spray gun body 102. An adjustment of the control valve 104 may alter an extent of opening of the nozzle 56.
