Description

Garment processing equipment

[0001] The present invention relates to a garment treatment device. More specifically, it is a garment treatment device having a microfiber filter that filters microfibers from wash water.

[0002] In general, a garment treatment device is a device that processes laundry by applying physical and chemical actions to the laundry.

[0003] The garment treatment device may include a tub that is accommodated in a suspended form by the interior of the cabinet, a drum that rotates within the tub while laundry (or fabric) is accommodated therein, and a filter that removes contaminants.

[0004] During the washing process, laundry may rotate or fall due to the rotation of the drum, which can cause friction between laundry items.

[0005] There is a problem that microfibers, which are microplastics, are separated from the laundry due to friction between laundry items, and the microfibers are discharged with the wash water, causing environmental pollution.

[0006] Typically, water used to wash laundry can be drained after passing through the filter to remove contaminants. However, conventional filters are unable to filter microfibers due to their large filtration holes.

[0007] Recently, the idea of applying microfiber filters to washing machine drains has emerged for the purpose of reducing microfiber emissions.

[0008] Microfiber filters must filter fibers ranging from a few millimeters to several micrometers. To achieve this, they typically use fine meshes of 100 micrometers or less. This creates problems not seen in lint filters, which have pores on the order of millimeters. Cotton and cellulose-based synthetic fibers shed large amounts of microfibers with each wash. Consequently, microfiber filters experience drainage delays even during a single wash cycle for practical clothing, and clogging can lead to poor drainage within several washes.

[0009] Therefore, microfiber filters require frequent cleaning or replacement. Frequent filter cleaning or replacement can be both inconvenient and costly for the user.

[0010] Prior art document 1, EP 3907322 B1, has a bypass channel that allows for drainage without passing through a filter when drainage is not smooth. In this case, when wash water is discharged through the bypass channel, the wash water does not pass through the filter, resulting in the discharge of microfibers. In other words, although Prior Art Document 1 solves the drainage delay problem, it discharges microfibers when drainage is poor, resulting in a significantly lower overall filtration rate. Furthermore, the device volume increases due to the bypass channel, and structural complexity increases due to the need for an additional process for assessing the filter's filtration capacity.

[0011] Prior art document 2, Korean Patent Publication No. 2018-0103515, discloses a washing unit for washing a filter unit and a control method thereof, but does not disclose a technology for washing the filter by recovering a portion of the wastewater that has passed through the filter.

[0012] Prior art document 3, Korean Patent Publication No. 2016-0111684, discloses a washing machine equipped with a foreign matter collection device located on a drainage path, but does not disclose a technology for recovering a portion of the drainage water that has passed through the filter and washing the filter.

The circulation outlet (1030) is spaced apart from the inlet (1010) and the drain outlet (1020) and connected to a circulation pipe (174). The inlet (1010), the drain outlet (1020), and the circulation outlet (1030) are in fluid communication with each other.

[0109] The pump module (1000) may include a drain pump (1220) and a circulation pump (1230). The drain pump (1220) discharges the washing water discharged from the discharge pipe (171) into the drain pipe (173a). The circulation pump (1230) causes the washing water discharged from the discharge pipe (171) to flow into the circulation pipe (174).

[0110] The pump module (1000) includes a microfiber filter (1420). The microfiber filter (1420) is a filter that filters microfibers from wash water. The microfiber filter (1420) filters foreign substances or contaminants including microfibers from wash water before the wash water is discharged to the outside. The microfiber filter (1420) can be accommodated inside the first filter housing (1410). The microfiber filter (1420) filters microfibers from wash water when wash water introduced from the discharge pipe (171) is discharged to the outside through the drain outlet (1020). The microfiber filter (1420) is arranged between the water inlet (1010) and the drain outlet (1020). In addition, the microfiber filter (1420) is arranged between the circulation outlet (1030) and the drain outlet (1020).

[0111] The pump module (1000) includes a lint filter (1520). The lint filter (1520) is a filter that filters lint from wash water. The lint filter (1520) has larger filtration holes than the microfiber filter (1420). Therefore, foreign substances filtered by the lint filter (1520) are larger than foreign substances filtered by the microfiber filter (1420). Generally, the lint filter (1520) does not have a microfiber filtration performance. The lint filter (1520) may be accommodated inside the second filter housing (1510).

[0112] In the embodiment, the discharge pipe (171), the first filter housing (1410), and the drain pipe (173a) form a drainage path for washing water. The drainage path is a path through which washing water in the tub (120) is discharged to the outside of the cabinet (110).

[0113] In the embodiment, the discharge pipe (171), the second filter housing (1510), and the circulation pipe (174) form a circulation path for washing water. The circulation path is a path through which washing water in the tub (120) is circulated back to the tub (120).

[0114] Fig. 6 is a partial perspective view illustrating a pump module according to one embodiment of the present invention. Referring to Fig. 6, a pump module (1000) according to one embodiment will be described.

[0115] The pump module (1000) is positioned lower than the tub (120). In the embodiment, the pump module (1000) is positioned on the base plate of the washing machine (100). The pump module (1000) is connected to the discharge pipe (171), the drain pipe (173a), and the circulation pipe (174).

[0116] The pump module (1000) may include a first filter housing (1410), a second filter housing (1510), a drain pump (1220), and a circulation pump (1230).

[0117] Fig. 7 is an exploded perspective view of a pump module according to one embodiment of the present invention. The configuration of a pump module (1000) according to one embodiment will be described with reference to Fig. 7.

[0118] The pump module (1000) may include a first filter housing (1410), a microfiber filter (1420), a second filter housing (1510), a lint filter (1520), a drain pump (1220), a drain pump housing (1221), a circulation pump (1230), and a circulation pump housing (1231).

[0119] A first filter housing (1410) is provided with a first filter chamber (1411) in which a microfiber filter (1420) is positioned. The first filter chamber (1411) communicates with a water inlet (1010), a drain outlet (1020), and a circulation outlet (1030). The first filter chamber (1411) forms a drainage path.

[0120] A first housing inlet (1412) is formed in the first filter housing (1410). A first housing outlet (1413) is formed in the first filter housing (1410). In an embodiment, the first housing inlet (1412) may correspond to the water inlet (1010). The first housing outlet (1413) may correspond to the drain outlet (1020).

[0121] A connecting pipe (1415) leading to a circulation outlet (1030) may be provided on one side of the first filter housing (1410). The connecting pipe (1415) forms a circulation path. The connecting pipe (1415) communicates with the first housing inlet (1412). A circulation outlet (1416) is formed at an end of the connecting pipe (1415). In an embodiment, the connecting pipe (1415) is formed integrally with the first filter housing (1410). In an embodiment, the connecting pipe (1415) shares an inlet with the first filter housing (1410).

[0122] The first filter housing (1410) may further include a housing cover (1740) that shields one end. The housing cover (1740) may shield an end adjacent to the first housing inlet (1412) of the first filter housing (1410). For example, the housing cover (1740) may shield the rear end of the first filter housing (1410). However, the present invention is not limited thereto, and the position of the housing cover (1740) may vary depending on the exterior appearance of the first filter housing (1410).

[0123] The housing cover (1740) may be formed with a guide portion (1741) that can be introduced into the first filter housing (1410). The guide portion (1741) may guide the fluid introduced through the first housing inlet (1412) to flow toward the first filter chamber (1411).

[0124] A second sealing portion (1745) for sealing may be provided between the first filter housing (1410) and the housing cover (1740). The second sealing portion (1745) may be formed of a rubber or plastic material, but is not limited thereto.

[0125] The microfiber filter (1420) may be a mesh filter. The microfiber filter (1420) may include a filter frame (1422) and a mesh (1421). The filter frame (1422) supports the mesh (1421). The filter frame (1422) may support the microfiber filter (1420) so that its shape is maintained. The shapes of the mesh (1421) and the filter frame (1422) are exemplary and may be provided in various materials and shapes.

[0126] A microfiber filter (1420) is arranged between the first housing inlet (1412) and the first housing outlet (1413). The microfiber filter (1420) may have a cylindrical shape extending in the longitudinal direction. The direction in which the microfiber filter (1420) extends may be defined as the first direction. According to one embodiment, the microfiber filter (1420) may extend in the front-back direction.

[0127] The microfiber filter (1420) may be provided with a cylindrical peripheral surface as a filter surface. A mesh (1421) may be arranged on the filter surface. The rear side of the microfiber filter (1420) may be open. The open rear side functions as an inlet of the microfiber filter (1420). Washing water introduced through the inlet passes through the mesh (1421) on the peripheral surface of the microfiber filter (1420) and the microfibers are filtered. Washing water passing through the microfiber filter (1420) is discharged through the first housing outlet (1413).

[0128] A first cap (1430) may be positioned at the front of the first filter housing (1410). The first cap (1430) is configured to close the open front opening (1411a) of the first filter housing (1410). When the first cap (1430) is separated from the first filter housing (1410), the first filter chamber (1411) may be exposed to the outside. A grip portion (1430a) may be formed on the first cap (1430). A user may hold the grip portion (1430a) to separate the first cap (1430) from the first filter housing (1410).

[0129] The first cap (1430) can be coupled to the microfiber filter (1420) via the coupling portion (1431). When the first cap (1430) and the microfiber filter (1420) are coupled and provided as a single unit, the user can take out the microfiber filter (1420) from the first filter chamber (1411) simply by opening the first cap (1430). The pulled-out microfiber filter (1420) can be received and fixed in the first filter chamber (1411) again after replacement or washing.

[0130] A first sealing portion (1441) for sealing may be coupled to the first cap (1430). The first sealing portion (1441) may be coupled to the coupling portion (1431). The first sealing portion (1441) provides watertightness when the first cap (1430) closes the first filter chamber (1411). The first sealing portion (1441) may be an O-ring made of rubber or plastic.

[0131] In an embodiment, the microfiber filter (1420) may be supported by a filter support member (1442). The filter support member (1442) may strengthen the bonding strength when the microfiber filter (1420) is bonded to the first filter chamber (1411). The filter support member (1442) may guide the microfiber filter (1420) to be positioned in a set manner in the first filter chamber (1411).

[0132] A second filter chamber (1511) in which a lint filter (1520) is positioned is formed in the second filter housing (1510). A second housing inlet (1512) is formed in the second filter housing (1510). The second housing inlet (1512) is connected to the circulation outlet (1416). A second housing outlet (1513) is formed in the second filter housing (1510). In an embodiment, the second housing outlet (1513) may correspond to the circulation outlet (1030).

[0133] The lint filter (1520) may be a filter that filters out large foreign substances or contaminants. The lint filter (1520) is positioned between the inlet (1010) and the circulation outlet (1030). In an embodiment, the lint filter (1520) is positioned between the second housing inlet (1512) and the second housing outlet (1513) connected to the inlet (1010).

[0134] The lint filter (1520) may have a long shape in the longitudinal direction. The lint filter (1520) may extend in the front-back direction. The extension direction of the lint filter (1520) and the extension direction of the microfiber filter (1420) may be parallel.

[0135] Washing water flowing in through the second housing inlet (1512) is filtered as it passes through the lint filter (1520). Washing water passing through the lint filter (1520) is discharged through the second housing outlet (1513).

[0136] A second cap (1530) may be positioned at the front of the second filter housing (1510). The second cap (1530) is configured to close the open front opening (1511a) of the second filter housing (1510). When the second cap (1530) is separated from the second filter housing (1510), the second filter chamber (1511) may be exposed to the outside. A grip portion (1530a) may be formed on the second cap (1530). A user may hold the grip portion (1530a) to separate the second cap (1530) from the second filter housing (1510).

[0137] The second cap (1530) may be provided in combination with the lint filter (1520). The second cap (1530) may be positioned in front of the lint filter (1520). When the second cap (1530) and the lint filter (1520) are provided as a single unit, the user can take out the lint filter (1520) from the second filter chamber (1511) simply by opening the second cap (1530). The taken-out lint filter (1520) may be received and fixed in the second filter chamber (1511) again after replacement or washing.

[0138] A third sealing portion (1541) may be provided at the joint portion of the second cap (1530) and the lint filter (1520). The third sealing portion (1541) provides watertightness when the second cap (1530) closes the second filter chamber (1511). The third sealing portion (1541) may be an O-ring made of rubber or plastic.

[0139] The second filter housing (1510) may be positioned laterally relative to the first filter housing (1410). The first filter housing (1410) and the second filter housing (1510) may be positioned side by side from left to right when viewed from the front. The second filter housing (1510) may be positioned at a height equal to or lower than that of the first filter housing (1410).

[0140] The first filter housing (1410) may have a larger volume than the second filter housing (1510). In an embodiment, the length of the first filter housing (1410) is longer than the length of the second filter housing (1510). The circumference of the first filter housing (1410) is larger than the circumference of the second filter housing (1510).

[0141] The first filter chamber (1411) may have a larger volume than the second filter chamber (1511). In an embodiment, the length of the first filter chamber (1411) is longer than the length of the second filter chamber (1511). The circumference of the first filter chamber (1411) is larger than the circumference of the second filter chamber (1511).

[0142] Since the microfiber filter (1420) has a higher filtration capacity and lower permeability than the lint filter (1520), it is desirable to provide a wider filter area if possible. Accordingly, the volume of the first filter chamber (1411) that accommodates the microfiber filter (1420) is larger than the volume of the second filter chamber (1511) that accommodates the lint filter (1520).

[0143] In an embodiment, the front end of the first filter housing (1410) and the front end of the second filter housing (1510) are positioned on the same line. In an embodiment, the rear end of the first filter housing (1410) is positioned further rearward than the rear end of the second filter housing (1510).

[0144] The first housing inlet (1412) is located at the rear of the first filter housing (1410). The connecting pipe (1415) extends in the front-back direction to connect the first housing inlet (1412) and the second housing inlet (1512).

[0145] The pump module (1000) may further include a circulation pump (1230) that causes washing water to flow along a circulation path and a drain pump (1220) that causes washing water to flow along a drain path. The drain pump (1220) may be coupled to a drain pump housing (1221). The circulation pump (1230) may be coupled to a circulation pump housing (1321).

[0146] A drain pump housing (1221) forms a part of a drain passage. The drain pump housing (1221) can accommodate an impeller (1225) of a drain pump (1220). The drain pump housing (1221) can be coupled to a first filter housing (1410). The drain pump housing (1221) can be coupled to a first housing outlet (1413) of the first filter housing (1410). A first pump inlet (1222) and a first pump outlet (1223) are formed in the drain pump housing (1221). The first pump inlet (1222) is connected to the first housing outlet (1413). The first pump outlet (1223) is connected to a drain pipe (173a). In the embodiment, the first pump outlet (1223) may correspond to the drain outlet (1020).

[0147] When the drain pump (1220) operates, negative pressure may be generated in the first filter chamber (1411). The negative pressure in the first filter chamber (1411) caused by the drain pump (1220) may cause the washing water inside the first filter chamber (1411) to move to the drain pipe (173a).

[0148] The circulation pump housing (1231) forms a part of the circulation path. The circulation pump housing (1231) can accommodate the impeller (1235) of the circulation pump (1230). The circulation pump housing (1231) can be coupled to the second filter housing (1510). The circulation pump housing (1231) can be coupled to the second housing outlet (1513) of the second filter housing (1510). A second pump inlet (1232) and a second pump outlet (1233) are formed in the circulation pump housing (1231). The second pump inlet (1232) is connected to the second housing outlet (1513). The second pump outlet (1233) is connected to the circulation pipe (174). In the embodiment, the second pump outlet (1233) may correspond to the circulation outlet (1030).

[0149] When the circulation pump (1230) operates, negative pressure may be generated in the second filter chamber (1511). The washing water inside the second filter chamber (1511) may move to the circulation pipe (174) due to the negative pressure in the second filter chamber (1511) caused by the circulation pump (1230).

[0150] Fig. 8 is a cross-sectional perspective view of a pump module (1000) according to one embodiment of the present invention. The structure of the pump module (1000) will be described in more detail with reference to Fig. 8.

[0151] A first filter chamber (1411) is formed inside the first filter housing (1410). A microfiber filter (1420) is positioned in the first filter chamber (1411). The front of the first filter chamber (1411) is closed by a first cap (1430).

[0152] The microfiber filter (1420) may be provided in a cylindrical shape. The first filter chamber (1411) may also be formed in a cylindrical structure. The wall forming the first filter chamber (1411) and the microfiber filter (1420) may be spaced apart from each other.

[0153] A first chamber inlet (1411a) is formed at the rear of the first filter chamber (1411). The first chamber inlet (1411a) is connected to the first housing inlet (1412). In the embodiment, the first chamber inlet (1411a) is located downstream of the first housing inlet (1412).

[0154] The first housing inlet (1412) is connected to the discharge pipe (171). Washing water flowing into the first housing inlet (1412) passes through a flow path formed by the housing cover (1740) while flowing into the first chamber inlet (1411a). The housing cover (1740) may include a first guide surface (1741) and a second guide surface (1742). The first guide surface (1741) and the second guide surface (1742) form a flow path toward the first chamber inlet (1411a). The first guide surface (1741) and the second guide surface (1742) may be provided as an inclined surface. The first guide surface (1741) and the second guide surface (1742) can reduce the flow resistance when the washing water introduced through the first housing inlet (1412) moves to the first filter chamber (1411).

[0155] Washing water flowing into the first chamber inlet (1411a) flows into the interior of the microfiber filter (1420). The washing water is filtered as it passes through the filter surface of the microfiber filter (1420).

[0156] A first housing outlet (1413) is formed on the side of the first filter chamber (1411). Washing water that has passed through the microfiber filter (1420) exits the first filter chamber (1411) through the first housing outlet (1413).

[0157] The first housing outlet (1413) is connected to the drain pump housing (1221). Washing water that has exited the first filter chamber (1411) through the first housing outlet (1413) flows into the drain pump housing (1221). Washing water that has flowed into the drain pump housing (1221) flows out through the first pump outlet (1223).

[0158] The first pump outlet (1223) is connected to a drain pipe (173a). Washing water discharged through the first pump outlet (1223) is drained to the outside of the device through the drain pipe (173a).

[0159] The connecting pipe (1415) is connected to the first housing inlet (1412). The connecting pipe (1415) connects the discharge pipe (171) and the second filter housing (1510). A connecting passage (1415a) is formed inside the connecting pipe (1415). The connecting passage (1415a) is a part of the circulation passage. A circulation outlet (1416) is formed at an end of the connecting pipe (1415). The circulation outlet (1416) is connected to the second filter housing (1510). The second housing inlet (1512) of the second filter housing (1510) is connected to the circulation outlet (1416).

[0160] A second filter chamber (1511) is provided inside the second filter housing (1510). A lint filter (1520) is positioned in the second filter chamber (1511). The front of the second filter chamber (1511) is closed by a second cap (1530).

[0161] Washing water flowing into the second filter chamber (1511) through the second housing inlet (1512) passes through the lint filter (1520). The washing water is filtered while passing through the lint filter (1520). The filtered washing water exits the second filter chamber (1511) through the second housing outlet (1513). The second housing outlet (1513) is connected to the circulation pump housing (1321). The second housing outlet (1513) is connected to the second pump inlet (1232). The washing water that exits the second filter chamber (1511) flows into the circulation pump housing (1321). The washing water flowing into the circulation pump housing (1321) flows out through the second pump outlet (1233, see FIG. 7).

[0162] Fig. 9 is a cross-sectional view of a pump module according to one embodiment of the present invention, illustrating a circulation path and a drain path. The circulation path and the drain path will be described in more detail with reference to Fig. 9.

[0163] The circulation path can be formed so that washing water introduced through the first housing inlet (1412) flows toward the lint filter (1520) by the pumping action of the circulation pump (1230) and then flows out through the second housing outlet (1513, see FIG. 7). In addition, the fluid introduced through the second housing outlet (1513, see FIG. 7) can flow into the first housing inlet (1412) and be circulated. In the embodiment, the first housing inlet (1412) functions as the inlet (1010), and the second housing outlet (1513) functions as the circulation outlet (1030).

[0164] When a pump module (1000) according to one embodiment is mounted on a washing machine (100), washing water flowing out through the second housing outlet (1513) is supplied to the tub (120) through the circulation pipe (174). In the tub (120), washing operations, such as a washing operation, a rinsing operation, and a draining operation, are performed.

[0165] Washing water flowing into the first housing inlet (1412) may contain foreign substances generated during the washing process. In the washing machine (100), while washing is being performed, the washing water in the tub (120) may be circulated through a circulation path.

[0166] The drainage path may be formed so that fluid flows in from the first housing inlet (1412), passes through the microfiber filter (1420) by the pumping action of the drainage pump (1220), and is drained through the first pump outlet (1223). In an embodiment, the first housing inlet (1412) functions as the inlet (1010), and the first pump outlet (1223) functions as the drainage outlet (1020).

[0167] When the draining operation for draining the washing water inside the tub (120) is performed, the washing water flows into the drainage path described in Fig. 9.

[0168] Here, when a pump module (1000) according to one embodiment is mounted on a washing machine (100), washing water is discharged to the outside of the washing machine (100) through a drain pipe (173a) connected to a circulation pump housing (1321).

[0169] FIG. 10 is a drawing illustrating a method for cleaning a microfiber filter using a pump module according to an embodiment of the present invention. Referring to FIG. 10, a method for cleaning a microfiber filter will be described.

[0170] As the microfiber filter (1420) filters the wash water, a large amount of foreign substances accumulate in the microfiber filter (1420). The foreign substances accumulated in the microfiber filter (1420) are removed from the microfiber filter (1420) by utilizing the reverse flow of the wash water. The method for generating the reverse flow is as follows.

[0171] [Backflow of drained laundry water]

[0172] The backflow of the washing water is caused by either gravity or the operation of the circulation pump (1230).

[0173] When the draining operation is in progress, the drain pump (1220) operates. The drain pump (1220) operates by repeating operation and stop at least once. When the drain pump (1220) operates, the washing water stored in the tub (120) is drained. While the drain pump (1220) is operating, the washing water flows into the drain path referenced in FIG. 9. When the drain pump (1220) stops, the washing water flows backward in the direction referenced in FIG. 10.

[0174] Backflow of the washing water may occur naturally due to gravity when the drain pump (1220) stops and the pumping force is removed. In this case, it is preferable that at least a portion of the drain pipe (173a) be located higher than the microfiber filter (1420). Furthermore, it is preferable that at least a portion of the drain pipe (173a) be located higher than the maximum water level of the tub (120).

[0175] If the circulation pump (1230) is driven while the drain pump (1220) is stopped, the circulation pump (1230) pumps the washing water toward the circulation pipe (174), and since the drain outlet (1020) and the circulation outlet (1030, see FIG. 7) are in fluid communication, the washing water in the drain outlet (1020) flows backwards based on the drain path.

[0176] In other words, the circulation pump (1230) forms a fluid pressure to cause the washing water to flow in the circulation path, and the fluid pressure of the washing water generated by the circulation pump (1230) causes the washing water in the first filter chamber (1411) to flow in the direction of the first chamber inlet (1411a), so the washing water flows backward with respect to the drain path.

[0177] Figure 11 is a diagram illustrating the principle of cleaning a microfiber filter by reverse flow of wash water. When wash water reverses and enters the interior of the microfiber filter (1420), microfibers deposited on the microfiber filter (1420) are removed from the surface. The removed microfibers can escape from the first filter chamber (1411) through the first chamber inlet (1411a).

[0178] When the drain pump (1220) stops and the circulation pump (1230) is operated, the washing water flows in the direction of the circulation path, and the fine fibers that have formed into lumps due to sedimentation may be captured in the lint filter (1520). Although not shown, a separate capturing device for capturing the fine fibers may be provided.

[0179] Figure 12 is a flowchart illustrating a draining algorithm according to one embodiment of the present invention.

[0180] When the drainage operation is in progress, the drainage pump (1220) repeats operation and stop at least once.

[0181] In the embodiment, the draining step (S1) includes a step of driving a drain pump (S11) and a step of stopping the drain pump (S12). The step of driving the drain pump (S11) and the step of stopping the drain pump (S12) are repeated until draining is completed.

[0182] While the drain pump is stopped, the circulation pump is operated (S13). The circulation pump is operated while the drain pump is stopped, and is stopped before the drain pump is restarted or simultaneously with the drain pump being restarted (S14).

[0183] The washing effect of the microfiber filter (1420) can be increased by repeating the operation and stop of the drainage pump at least once.

[0184] In an embodiment, the operation time of the drain pump in the step (S11) of operating the drain pump may be longer than the stop time of the drain pump in the step (S12) of stopping the drain pump. The operation time of the drain pump may be at least twice the stop time of the drain pump. The operation time of the drain pump may be at most four times the stop time of the drain pump.

[0185] The drain pump stop time may be 3 seconds or more and 10 seconds or less. The drain pump stop time may be set by considering the delay between signal application and actual operation and the time required for the residual water in the drain pump to flow back. For example, if the time required for the residual water in the drain pump to flow back is approximately 2 to 3 seconds, the drain pump stop time may be set to approximately 4 seconds by considering the delay between signal application and actual operation. The drain pump stop time is the time required for the washing water to flow back from the drain pipe (173a) to the microfiber filter (1420).

[0186] The drain pump's operating time may be approximately 10 seconds. Drainage must be completed within a reasonable time. Failure to do so will result in a longer overall wash time. In an exemplary embodiment, the drain pump operating time may be set to 10 to 12 seconds, with the goal of draining approximately 10 liters within one minute using a mass-produced drainage capacity of 20 LPM.

[0187] The operation time and stop time of the drainage pump can be designed and changed by considering the structure of the microfiber filter, filtration type, and total drainage time.

[0188] While the drain pump is stopped, the backflow of washing water can be increased by operating the circulation pump, thereby improving the cleaning effect of the microfiber filter.

[0189] Clumped microfibers filtered through the microfiber filter are transported to the circulation circuit, where they can be captured by the lint filter. While microfibers were not previously captured by lint filters, clumped microfibers can now be captured by the lint filter. Because the lint filter also captures microfibers, it slows down the rate of microfiber deposition in the microfiber filter, extending its lifespan.

[0190] FIG. 13 is a drawing explaining a method of driving a drainage pump and a circulation pump during a drainage operation according to the first embodiment of the present invention.

[0191] In an embodiment, the step of driving the drain pump (S11) and the step of stopping the drain pump (S12) may be repeated periodically. The drain pump may be repeatedly driven for a certain period of time and stopped for a certain period of time.

[0192] In an embodiment, in the step of driving the circulation pump (S13), the driving time of the circulation pump may be the same as the stopping time of the drainage pump.

[0193] In an embodiment, the step of driving the circulation pump (S13) may be performed every time the step of stopping the drainage pump (S12) is performed.

[0194] FIG. 14 is a drawing explaining a method of driving a drainage pump and a circulation pump during a drainage operation according to a second embodiment of the present invention.

[0195] In an embodiment, in the step of driving the circulation pump (S13), the driving time of the circulation pump may be shorter than the stopping time of the drain pump. The circulation pump may be driven after a certain period of time has elapsed after the drain pump has stopped operating. The circulation pump may be driven before the drain pump is restarted.

[0196] In an embodiment, the step of driving the circulation pump (S13) may be performed every time the step of stopping the drainage pump (S12) is performed.

[0197] FIG. 15 is a drawing explaining a method of driving a drainage pump and a circulation pump during a drainage operation according to a third embodiment of the present invention.

[0198] In an embodiment, the step of driving the circulation pump (S13) may be performed in any one or more of the steps of stopping the drainage pump (S12) that are performed multiple times. That is, the circulation pump may be driven in at least one of the multiple sections in which the drainage pump is stopped.

[0199] FIG. 16 is a drawing explaining a method of driving a drainage pump and a circulation pump during a drainage operation according to a fourth embodiment of the present invention.

[0200] In an embodiment, the operating time of the step (S11) of operating the drain pump may decrease as the drainage time elapses. The stopping time of the step (S12) of stopping the drainage pump may be maintained despite the elapse of the drainage time. Although not illustrated, the stopping time of the drainage pump may increase as the drainage time elapses. Alternatively, the stopping time of the drainage pump may decrease as the operating time of the drainage pump decreases.

[0201] Fig. 17 is a schematic diagram illustrating a pump module according to another embodiment of the present invention. Referring to Fig. 17, a pump module (1000') according to another embodiment will be described.

[0202] The pump module (1000') may include an inlet (1010), a drain outlet (1020), and a circulation outlet (1030). The inlet (1010) is connected to a discharge pipe (171). The drain outlet (1020) is spaced apart from the inlet (1010) and connected to a drain pipe (173a). The circulation outlet (1030) is spaced apart from the inlet (1010) and the drain outlet (1020) and connected to a circulation pipe (174). The inlet (1010), the drain outlet (1020), and the circulation outlet (1030) are in fluid communication with each other.

[0203] The pump module (1000') may include a drain pump (1220) and a circulation pump (1230). The drain pump (1220) discharges the washing water discharged from the discharge pipe (171) into the drain pipe (173a). The circulation pump (1230) causes the washing water discharged from the discharge pipe (171) to flow into the circulation pipe (174).

[0204] The pump module (1000) includes a microfiber filter (1420).

[0205] The pump module (1000) includes a lint filter (1520).

[0206] In the embodiment, the discharge pipe (171), the second filter housing (1510), the first filter housing (1410), and the drain pipe (173a) form a drainage path for washing water. The drainage path is a path through which washing water in the tub (120) is discharged to the outside of the cabinet (110). When following the drainage path, washing water flowing into the first filter housing (1410) passes through the microfiber filter (1420) and is drained to the drain outlet (1020).

[0207] In the embodiment, the discharge pipe (171), the second filter housing (1510), the first filter housing (1410), and the circulation pipe (174) form a circulation path for washing water. The circulation path is a path through which washing water in the tub (120) is circulated back to the tub (120). When following the circulation path, washing water flowing into the first filter housing (1410) does not pass through the microfiber filter (1420) but is discharged through the circulation outlet (1030).

[0208] Fig. 18 is an exploded perspective view of a pump module according to another embodiment of the present invention. Referring to Fig. 18, the configuration of a pump module (1000') according to another embodiment of the present invention will be described.

[0209] The pump module (1000') may include a first filter housing (1410), a microfiber filter (1420), a second filter housing (1510), a lint filter (1520), a drain pump (1220), a drain pump housing (1221), a circulation pump (1230), and a circulation pump housing (1231).

[0210] Fig. 19 is a cross-sectional perspective view of a pump module (1000') according to another embodiment of the present invention. The structure of the pump module (1000') will be described in more detail with reference to Fig. 18 and Fig. 19.

[0211] A first filter housing (1410) is provided with a first filter chamber (1411) in which a microfiber filter (1420) is positioned. The first filter chamber (1411) communicates with a water inlet (1010), a drain outlet (1020), and a circulation outlet (1030). The first filter chamber (1411) forms a drainage path.

[0212] A first housing inlet (1412) is formed in the first filter housing (1410). A first housing outlet (1413) is formed in the first filter housing (1410). In an embodiment, the first housing outlet (1413) may correspond to a drain outlet (1020).

[0213] A connecting pipe (1415) leading to a circulation outlet (1030) may be provided at the front of the first filter housing (1410). In an embodiment, the connecting pipe (1415) extends from the front of the first filter housing (1410). The connecting pipe (1415) selectively forms a drainage path and a circulation path. The connecting pipe (1415) communicates with the first housing inlet (1412). A circulation outlet (1416) is formed in the connecting pipe (1415).

[0214] In an embodiment, the connecting pipe (1415) is formed integrally with the first filter housing (1410). A first cap (1430) may be positioned at the front of the connecting pipe (1415). The first cap (1430) is configured to communicate with the first filter housing (1410) and close the open front opening (1411a) at the front of the connecting pipe (1415). When the first cap (1430) is separated from the connecting pipe (1415), the first filter chamber (1411) may be exposed to the outside. A grip portion (1430a) may be formed on the first cap (1430). A user may hold the grip portion (1430a) to separate the first cap (1430) from the connecting pipe (1415).

[0215] The microfiber filter (1420) may be a mesh filter. It may include a filter frame (1422) and a mesh (1421). The shapes of the mesh (1421) and the filter frame (1422) are exemplary and may be made of various materials and shapes.

[0216] The filter frame (1422) supports the mesh (1421). The filter frame (1422) can support the shape of the microfiber filter (1420) so that it is maintained.

[0217] The filter frame (1422) can be combined with the connecting frame (1432). The connecting frame (1432) is configured to connect the first cap (1430) and the microfiber filter (1420) to each other. The connecting frame (1432) can be combined with the connecting portion (1431). The first cap (1430) can be combined with the connecting frame (1432) via the connecting portion (1431). As a result, the first cap (1430) can be combined with the microfiber filter (1420).

[0218] When the first cap (1430) and the microfiber filter (1420) are combined and provided as one unit, the user can take out the microfiber filter (1420) from the first filter chamber (1411) simply by opening the first cap (1430). The taken out microfiber filter (1420) can be received and fixed in the first filter chamber (1411) again after replacement or washing.

[0219] The connecting frame (1432) can function as a lint filter. A filtering hole (1432a) can be formed in the connecting frame (1432). The filtering hole (1432a) of the connecting frame (1432) can be the same size as or larger than the filtering hole of the lint filter (1520). The filtering hole (1432a) of the connecting frame (1432) can perform the function of filtering clumped microfibers.

[0220] A microfiber filter (1420) is arranged between the first housing inlet (1412) and the first housing outlet (1413). The microfiber filter (1420) may have a cylindrical shape extending in the longitudinal direction. The direction in which the microfiber filter (1420) extends may be defined as the first direction. According to one embodiment, the microfiber filter (1420) may extend in the front-back direction.

[0221] The microfiber filter (1420) may have a cylindrical peripheral surface with a mesh (1421) arranged as a filter surface. The rear side of the microfiber filter (1420) may be open. The open rear side functions as an inlet of the microfiber filter (1420). Washing water introduced through the inlet passes through the mesh (1421) along the peripheral surface of the microfiber filter (1420), and the microfibers are filtered. Washing water that has passed through the microfiber filter (1420) is discharged through the first housing outlet (1413).

[0222] A second filter chamber (1511) in which a lint filter (1520) is positioned is formed in the second filter housing (1510). A second housing inlet (1512) is formed in the second filter housing (1510). The second housing inlet (1512) is connected to a discharge pipe (171). A second housing outlet (1513) is formed in the second filter housing (1510). In an embodiment, the second housing inlet (1512) may correspond to the inlet (1010).

[0223] The lint filter (1520) may be a filter that filters out large foreign substances or contaminants. The lint filter (1520) is positioned between the inlet (1010) and the circulation outlet (1030). In an embodiment, the lint filter (1520) is positioned between the second housing inlet (1512) and the second housing outlet (1513) that communicates with the circulation outlet (1030).

[0224] The lint filter (1520) may have a long shape in the longitudinal direction. The lint filter (1520) may extend in the front-back direction. The extension direction of the lint filter (1520) and the extension direction of the microfiber filter (1420) may be parallel.

[0225] Washing water flowing in through the second housing inlet (1512) is filtered as it passes through the lint filter (1520). Washing water passing through the lint filter (1520) is discharged through the second housing outlet (1513).

[0226] A second cap (1530) may be positioned in front of the lint filter (1520).

[0227] The second cap (1530) may be provided in combination with the lint filter (1520). If the second cap (1530) and the lint filter (1520) are provided as a single unit, the user can take out the lint filter (1520) from the second filter chamber (1511) simply by opening the second cap (1530). The taken-out lint filter (1520) may be received and fixed in the second filter chamber (1511) again after replacement or washing.

[0228] The second filter housing (1510) may be arranged laterally of the connecting pipe (1415). The connecting pipe (1415) and the second filter housing (1510) may be arranged side by side left and right when viewed from the front.

[0229] The first housing inlet (1412) is located at the front of the first filter housing (1410). The connecting pipe (1415) extends in the forward and backward direction to connect the first housing inlet (1412) and the second housing inlet (1512).

[0230] The pump module (1000) may further include a circulation pump (1230) that causes washing water to flow along a circulation path and a drain pump (1220) that causes washing water to flow along a drain path. The drain pump (1220) may be coupled to a drain pump housing (1221). The circulation pump (1230) may be coupled to a connecting pipe (1415).

[0231] A drain pump housing (1221) forms a part of a drain passage.

[0232] When the drain pump (1220) operates, negative pressure may be generated in the first filter chamber (1411). The negative pressure in the first filter chamber (1411) caused by the drain pump (1220) may cause the washing water inside the first filter chamber (1411) to move to the drain pipe (173a).

[0233] Washing water flowing into the first chamber inlet (1411a) according to the operation of the drain pump (1220) flows into the interior of the microfiber filter (1420). The washing water passes through the filter surface of the microfiber filter (1420) and is filtered.

[0234] A first housing outlet (1413) is formed on the side of the first filter chamber (1411). Washing water that has passed through the microfiber filter (1420) exits the first filter chamber (1411) through the first housing outlet (1413).

[0235] The first housing outlet (1413) is connected to the drain pump housing (1221). Washing water that has exited the first filter chamber (1411) through the first housing outlet (1413) flows into the drain pump housing (1221). Washing water that has flowed into the drain pump housing (1221) flows out through the first pump outlet (1223).

[0236] The first pump outlet (1223) is connected to a drain pipe (173a). Washing water discharged through the first pump outlet (1223) is drained to the outside of the device through the drain pipe (173a).

[0237] The circulation pump housing (1231) forms a part of the circulation path. The circulation pump housing (1231) can accommodate the impeller (1235) of the circulation pump (1230). The circulation pump housing (1231) can be coupled to a connecting pipe (1415). The circulation pump housing (1231) can be coupled to a circulation side outlet (1416) of the connecting pipe (1415). A second pump inlet (1232) and a second pump outlet (1233) are formed in the circulation pump housing (1231). The second pump inlet (1232) is connected to the second housing outlet (1513). The second pump outlet (1233) is connected to the circulation pipe (174). In an embodiment, the circulation outlet (1416) can function as a circulation outlet (1030). In an embodiment, the second pump outlet (1233) can function as a circulation outlet (1030).

[0238] When the circulation pump (1230) operates, negative pressure may be generated in the connecting passage (1415a) inside the connecting pipe (1415). Due to the negative pressure in the connecting passage (1415a) caused by the circulation pump (1230), the washing water inside the second filter chamber (1511) connected to the connecting passage (1415a) may move to the circulation pipe (174).

[0239] Washing water flowing into the second filter chamber (1511) through the second housing inlet (1512) passes through the lint filter (1520). The washing water is filtered while passing through the lint filter (1520). The filtered washing water exits the second filter chamber (1511) through the second housing outlet (1513). The second housing outlet (1513) is connected to a connecting pipe (1415). The second housing outlet (1513) is connected to a connecting pipe inlet (1417) formed on the side of the connecting pipe (1415). Washing water that exits the second filter chamber (1511) flows into the connecting passage (1415a). The washing water flowing into the connecting passage (1415a) flows into the circulation pump housing (1321). Washing water from the circulation pump housing (1321) flows out through the second pump outlet (1233).

[0240] The circulation path can be formed so that the washing water introduced through the second housing inlet (1512) flows toward the lint filter (1520) by the pumping action of the circulation pump (1230) and then flows out through the second housing outlet (1513). Then, the washing water discharged through the second pump outlet (1233) via the connecting path (1415a) is re-supplied to the tub (120). In the embodiment, the second housing inlet (1512) functions as the water inlet (1010), and the second pump outlet (1233) functions as the circulation outlet (1030).

[0241] When a pump module (1000) according to one embodiment is mounted on a washing machine (100), washing water flowing out through the second housing outlet (1513) is supplied to the tub (120) through the circulation pipe (174). In the tub (120), washing operations, such as a washing operation, a rinsing operation, and a draining operation, are performed.

[0242] The washing water flowing into the second housing inlet (1512) may contain foreign substances generated during the washing process. In the washing machine (100), the washing water in the tub (120) may be circulated through a circulation path while washing is being performed.

[0243] The drainage path may be formed so that fluid flows in from the second housing inlet (1512), passes through the lint filter (1520) and the microfiber filter (1420) by the pumping action of the drain pump (1220), and is drained through the first pump outlet (1223). In an embodiment, the second housing inlet (1512) functions as the inlet (1010), and the first pump outlet (1223) functions as the drain outlet (1020).

[0244] Here, when a pump module (1000') according to one embodiment is mounted on a washing machine (100), washing water is discharged to the outside of the washing machine (100) through a drain pipe (173a) connected to a circulation pump housing (1321).

[0245] The pump module (1000') can also wash the microfiber filter (1420) using the control method referenced through FIGS. 12 to 16. Although the detailed structure of the pump module (1000') is different, the control method is the same, so the preceding description is omitted.
