Claims

This document discloses embodiments of a computer-readable, non-transient method, apparatus, and means for predicting a sanding event. In one embodiment, the method comprises obtaining water hammer data for a well; determining an inferred strength for the well from the water hammer data; comparing the inferred strength for the well with a measured strength, wherein the measured strength comprises at least one of an eroded strength or a strength growth rate for the well; and predicting a sanding event occurring in the well, based on at least the comparison of the inferred strength with the measured strength.
