Description

Technical Field

[0001] The present invention relates to a cosmetic composition and a mask comprising the same. In particular, the present invention relates to a composition for caring for keratin materials and a mask comprising the same, and a non-therapeutic method for caring for keratin materials using the composition or the mask. Background Art

[0002] The skin is the body's protective barrier. It protects the body's interior from physical damage (such as trauma) and biological damage (such as bacteria, viruses or fungi).

[0003] Skin aging is part of the aging process of the human body, which is not only related to age itself, but also closely related to external factors such as sunlight exposure. Light-induced skin aging ("photoaging") is mainly caused by sunlight exposure, and as the depletion of the ozone layer increases, the photoaging of the skin becomes more and more serious, which affects the appearance of the skin.

[0004] The development of formulations dedicated to the care of the skin is a permanent endeavour.

[0005] There are many challenges in formulating cosmetic compositions. Some active ingredients, such as retinoids, are unstable. To be commercially acceptable, the active ingredients contained in a cosmetic product must be stable over a certain period of time. No matter how effective a product is, if the product deteriorates under storage conditions before it is sold, it will not be commercially acceptable.

[0006] Furthermore, some lipophilic active ingredients such as retinoids are not effectively delivered into the skin.

[0007] Therefore, it remains a goal to develop cosmetic products that can effectively deliver retinoids into the skin and in which the retinoids contained are stable for a relatively long period of time. Summary of the invention

[0008] It is an object of the present invention to develop cosmetic products in which the retinoids contained are stable over a relatively long period of time, for example at least two months.

[0009] Another object of the present invention is to develop cosmetic products that can effectively deliver retinoids into the skin.

[0010] Thus, according to a first aspect, the present invention provides a composition for caring for keratin materials, said composition comprising:

[0011] a) at least one retinoid; and

[0012] b) Combination of the following antioxidants

[0013] i) ascorbic acid or its derivatives,

[0014] ii) tocopherol or a derivative thereof, and

[0015] iii) at least one hydroxyhydrocinnamate antioxidant.

[0016] According to a second aspect, the present invention provides a mask for caring for keratin materials, the mask comprising:

[0017] A) Hydrophilic film towel, and

[0018] B) The composition according to the invention impregnated into the film-covered towel.

[0019] According to a third aspect, the invention also provides a non-therapeutic method for caring for keratin materials, in particular the skin, comprising the step of applying a composition or a mask according to the invention to the keratin material.

[0020] The inventors have discovered that retinoids are stable over relatively long periods of time and can be effectively delivered into the skin.

[0021] Other subjects and features, aspects and advantages of the invention will emerge even more clearly on reading the detailed description and examples which follow. DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
