Description

TECHNICAL AREA OF INVENTION

[0001] The present invention relates to a disc brake and in particular to a disc brake which reliably collects dust generated by friction between a brake pad and a disc and facilitates the maintenance of a brake system. DESCRIPTION OF THE STATE OF THE ART

[0002] Recently, with the emphasis on the importance of environmental protection, environmental friendliness has become a major issue in the automotive industry, and regulations concerning pollutants emitted by automobiles are also being continuously tightened.

[0003] Pollutants emitted by automobiles can be broadly classified into those emitted by an exhaust system and those emitted by non-exhaust systems. Exhaust system pollutants are those contained in the exhaust gases produced when an engine is running and are already subject to regulations. On the other hand, regulations concerning pollutants emitted by non-exhaust systems are expected to be implemented soon.

[0004] A representative pollutant among those emitted by non-exhaust systems can be, for example, dust generated by a braking system. Specifically, a disc brake, as a braking system fitted to a vehicle, obtains braking force through friction or clamping pressure between a disc and a brake pad by contacting and pressing the brake pad against both sides of the disc, which rotates with a wheel. This process can generate dust due to abrasion caused by friction between the disc and the brake pad, and this dust is known to contain a large number of substances harmful to the human body.

[0005] Additionally, a single-block disc brake with high rigidity and braking force has recently been developed and is being used in high-performance vehicles. Because the single-block disc brake exhibits greater friction or clamping pressure between the disc and brake pad, the amount of dust generated also increases.

[0006] Accordingly, a method is required to respond to a relevant regulation by reliably collecting dust or particulate matter generated by a braking system, and also to facilitate maintenance of the braking system by a user, such as a driver or the like.

[0007] German patent DE 10 2010 053 879 A1 describes a disc brake with a brake caliper housing and a dust collector. The dust collector comprises an encapsulation that covers the brake caliper housing and a chamber for collecting brake dust, which is connected to the encapsulation via a channel. The chamber is arranged adjacent to the brake caliper housing in the direction of rotation of a brake disc.

[0008] In DE 11 2019 002 574 B4, a disc brake with only one filter module is also described, which is connected to the brake caliper housing and is arranged adjacent to the caliper housing with respect to a main direction of rotation of the brake disc. REVELATION OF THE INVENTION

[0046] Fig. 1 to Fig. Figure 3 is a perspective view, a front view and a top view, respectively, illustrating a disc brake 100 according to a first exemplary embodiment of the present invention, and Fig. Figure 4 is a perspective view illustrating the disc brake 100 according to the first exemplary embodiment of the present invention from a different direction. Additionally, Fig. 5 and Fig. 6 perspective exploded views illustrating the disc brake 100 according to the first exemplary embodiment of the present invention in different directions.

[0047] With reference to Fig. 1 to Fig. 6 The disc brake 100 according to the first exemplary embodiment of the present invention comprises a brake disc (not shown) which rotates together with a wheel (not shown) of a vehicle, a pair of brake pads 10 which are arranged on both the inner and outer sides of the disc, a carrier 20 which is fixedly installed on a vehicle body, a caliper housing 110 with the brake pads 10 which are arranged on an inner side thereof and provided for sliding and moving with respect to the carrier 20, a pressure element (not shown) which is installed on the caliper housing 110 for forward and backward movement, a guide rod 40 which guides the sliding movement of the caliper housing 110 with respect to the carrier 20, a logo body 120 which is provided for covering at least a part of the caliper housing 110, and a dust collector which collects dust.which is generated by contact between the disc and the brake pads 10, and a base bracket 150 which carries the logo body 120 and the dust collector.

[0048] The brake disc (not shown) is positioned to rotate with the vehicle's wheel, and the inner brake pad 10 and the outer brake pad 10 are each arranged on either side of the disc. The inner brake pad 10 and the outer brake pad 10 are fixedly installed on an inner pad plate and an outer pad plate, respectively, and the brake pads 10 are each attached to an inner surface (surface facing the brake disc) of each pad plate. The inner pad plate is positioned such that an outer surface of it is in contact with the pressing element described below, and the outer pad plate is installed on an inner rear surface of the brake caliper housing 110, which is described below together with the outer brake pad 10.Thus, when the vehicle is braked, the pressing element moves forward and pushes the inner pad and inner brake pad 10 towards the brake disc side to bring the inner pad and inner brake pad 10 into close contact with the brake disc side, and the caliper housing 110 slides thereon by a reaction force in a direction opposite to the forward direction of the pressing element with respect to the carrier 20, which is fixedly installed on the vehicle body, so that the outer pad and outer brake pad 10, which are installed in the caliper housing 110, can be pushed towards the brake disc side and brought into close contact with the brake disc side.

[0049] The pressing element (not shown) can be configured as a piston and provided to move forward and backward within a cylinder located in the brake caliper housing 110. The pressing element can brake the vehicle by moving forward due to hydraulic pressure of a pressing medium, such as brake fluid, or by receiving power from an actuator (not shown), described below, and moving forward. Additionally, the pressing element can release the vehicle's brakes by moving backward when the hydraulic pressure of the pressing medium is released, or by releasing the vehicle's brakes or a parking brake condition by receiving power from the actuator, described below, and moving backward.

[0050] The cylinder is arranged in the brake caliper housing 110 to allow the piston to move forward and backward, passing through a pair of coupling holes formed on both sides of the cylinder in a direction parallel to the forward and backward direction of the pressing element. The guide rod 40, described below, can be inserted into and attached to each of the coupling holes. The brake caliper housing 110 can be connected to and supported by the carrier 20 via the guide rod 40, and the brake caliper housing 110 can also slide and move along the guide rod 40 in the forward and backward direction relative to the carrier 20.In the brake caliper housing 110, part of a front surface and a top surface may be covered by the logo body 120, which is described below, and dust collectors, which are described below, may be provided in a front section and a rear section of the brake caliper housing 110. A detailed description of this is presented below.

[0051] Meanwhile, a front surface (front side) as described in the present embodiment means an exterior surface (outside) that a driver or user can inspect with the naked eye from outside the vehicle, and refers to a lower surface (bottom side) in Fig. 3. On the other hand, a rear surface (back side) as described in the present embodiment means an opposite side (inside) of the front surface (front side) and refers to an upper surface (top side) in Fig. 3.

[0052] The support 20 can be fixedly installed to a portable structure, such as the vehicle body, by means of a bolt or the like. A guide hole, formed by extending along a longitudinal direction of the guide rod 40, can be provided on both sides of the support 20, so that the guide rod 40, described below, can be inserted and pass through the guide hole. The brake linings 10 and lining plates can be arranged on an inner side of the support 20. A lining spring, configured to elastically support the brake linings 10 and lining plates, can be arranged between the support 20 and the lining plates. The base bracket 150, described below, can be arranged on a rear surface of the support 20.Both the support 20 and the base bracket 150 can have a bolt mounting hole which is fixed to the vehicle body by means of a fastening element, such as a bolt or the like, and the bolt mounting hole provided in the support 20 and the bolt mounting hole provided in the base bracket 150 can be arranged coaxially so that the support 20 and the base bracket 150 can be fastened and supported by a single fastening element to reduce one component.

[0053] The guide rod 40 is arranged to guide the sliding movement of the brake caliper housing 110 relative to the carrier 20. The guide rod 40 can be provided in a cylindrical form extending along the forward and reverse directions and arranged on both sides of the pressing element with respect to an axial direction of the pressing element. The guide rod 40 can be fixedly installed by being inserted and secured to both sides of the brake caliper housing 110 and arranged to be inserted through and pass through the guide hole formed by both sides of the carrier 20 in the forward and reverse directions. When the vehicle is braked or released, the sliding movement of the brake caliper housing 110 can be guided by the guide rod 40 moving forward or backward along the guide hole.At least one sealing element to prevent the inflow of foreign substances can be arranged between an outer circumferential surface of the guide rod 40 and a surrounding area of the guide hole of the carrier 20.

[0054] The logo body 120 can be arranged on an outer surface of the brake caliper housing 110 and thus form an outer surface of the disc brake 100.

[0055] Fig. 5 and Fig. Figure 6 are perspective exploded views illustrating the disc brake 100 according to the first exemplary embodiment of the present invention from different directions. Additionally, Fig. 7 and Fig. 8 perspective views illustrating the state in which the logo body 120 and the dust collector are supported and mounted on the base support 150 according to the first exemplary embodiment of the present invention, in different directions from each other.

[0056] With reference to Fig. 1 to Fig. 8. The logo body 120 can be arranged such that it covers at least part of the front surface and the upper surface of the brake caliper housing 110. The logo body 120 can comprise an outer section 121, which covers at least part of the front surface of the brake caliper housing 110 and onto which a logo or emblem of a product or the vehicle can be applied, and a cover section 122, which is curved and extends from the outer section 121 to its rear in order to cover at least part of the upper surface of the brake caliper housing 110. The dust collector, which is described below, is detachably mounted on the logo body 120, so that the dust collector and the logo body 120 can support each other, and the logo body 120 can be stably mounted on the vehicle body by being connected and attached to the base bracket 150 by means of the first filter cover 132 and the second filter cover 142, which are described below.

[0057] The outer section 121 can be provided to cover at least a portion of the front surface of the brake caliper housing 110, thus forming an outer surface of the product. For this purpose, at least a portion of a front surface of the outer section 121 can be provided in a flat form, and the logo or emblem can be painted, stamped, or affixed to it. Additionally, a mounting bracket, connected to and attached to the dust collector described below, can be arranged on both sides of the outer section 121, and a plurality of discharge holes 121a can penetrate into and be formed in a side portion of the outer section 121 to dissipate and radiate the heat generated by friction between the disc and the brake pads 10 evenly to its outer surface.

[0058] The cover section 122 can be formed by being curved and extending from an upper end of the outer section 121 to the rear, thus being positioned over the brake caliper housing 110. The cover section 122 can be shaped to conform to an upper surface shape of the brake caliper housing 110, and a plurality of discharge holes 123 can penetrate into and be formed in the cover section 122 to dissipate and radiate the heat generated by friction between the disc and the brake pads 10 evenly to its outer surface.

[0059] The logo body 120 is designed not only to enclose the brake caliper housing 110, but also various components housed within it, such as the brake pads 10, the backing plates, and the like, thus enhancing the product's appearance as seen from the wheel or the vehicle's exterior. In particular, the appearance of wheels used in high-performance or luxury vehicles, and of the disc brake 100, is a crucial factor in consumers' purchasing decisions. Accordingly, the logo body 120 is designed to enclose various components and also to display the product or vehicle brand on its front surface, thereby improving the marketability and competitiveness of both the product and the vehicle.Additionally, since the dust collector described below is detachably mounted on both sides of the logo body 120, the stable storage of the first and second filter modules 130 and 140 can be promoted.

[0060] The dust collector is provided to limit and minimize the diffusion of harmful substances by collecting dust generated by contact between the disc and the brake pads 10. Additionally, the base bracket 150 is provided to securely support the logo body 120 and the dust collector.

[0061] With reference to Fig. 1 to Fig. 8. The base bracket 150 can be arranged on the rear side of the brake caliper housing 110 and permanently installed on the vehicle body by means of a fastening element, such as a bolt or the like, and the dust collector can be detachably mounted on the base bracket 150. Additionally, the logo body 120 can be detachably connected to the base bracket 150 by the dust collector and supported by it.For this purpose, a multitude of mounting holes, through which a fastening element, such as a bolt or the like, is inserted and penetrates, can be provided in the base bracket 150. The base bracket 150 can be provided in a plate form designed to enclose only a portion of a rear surface of the caliper housing 110 in order to reduce the weight of the product and dissipate heat evenly, and can be positioned at a predetermined distance from the caliper housing 110 or a surrounding component, such as an actuator or the like. Additionally, if the base bracket 150 detachably supports the logo body 120 and the dust collector, the base bracket 150 can be fixedly installed on the carrier 20, which is fixedly mounted on the vehicle body or the caliper housing 110.

[0062] The dust collector has a first filter module 130, which is arranged on one side of the brake caliper housing 110, and a second filter module 140, which is arranged on the other side of the brake caliper housing 110, and can be provided in a detachable manner for easy maintenance.

[0063] Fig. Figure 9 is a perspective view illustrating the first filter 131 and a guide wing according to the first exemplary embodiment of the present invention, and Fig. Figure 10 is a perspective exploded view illustrating the first filter 131 and the guide vane according to the first exemplary embodiment of the present invention. Additionally, Fig. 11 and Fig. 12 a cross-sectional view along line AA' in Fig. 3 or a cross-sectional view along line BB' in Fig. 3, i.e. cross-sectional views illustrating the first filter cover 132 and the second filter cover 142 respectively according to the first exemplary embodiment of the present invention. Fig. Figure 13 is a cross-sectional view of the disc brake 100 according to the first exemplary embodiment of the present invention, illustrating a state in which the dust collector collects dust.

[0064] With reference to Fig. 1 to Fig. 11 The first filter module 130 can be arranged on a front side adjacent to the front of the vehicle with respect to the brake caliper housing 110. Additionally, the first filter module 130 can include the first filter 131, which filters out the dust, wherein the first filter cover 132 has a first mounting space 134 in which the first filter 131 is received and supported on an inner side thereof, and first and third fastening elements 135 and 136, which detachably support the first filter cover 132 (see, e.g., Fig. 7), and a guide vane that directs an airflow containing the dust to the first filter 131, wherein a front side of the first filter module 130 can be provided to be detachably attached to the logo body 120, and a rear side of the first filter module 130 can be detachably connected to the base mount 150.

[0065] The first filter 131 can receive the airflow containing the dust generated by contact between the disc and the brake pads 10, collect the dust, and discharge the airflow with the removed dust to its outer surface. The first filter 131 can be located in and supported by the first mounting space 134 formed on the inside of the first filter cover 132. Additionally, the first filter 131 can be formed in a circular arc shape corresponding to a disc shape, and a first through-hole 131a can be provided to be recessed on an inner circumferential surface to allow the disc to pass through. The first filter 131 can be mounted on and removed from the first mounting space 134 of the first filter cover 132. Therefore, when a replacement is necessary because the first filter 131 is damaged or has reached the end of its service life, it can be easily removed from the first filter cover 132 and replaced with a new first filter 131. The first filter 131 can be made of various materials, including metals that exhibit corrosion resistance and durability to maintain their shape and function even against high-pressure wash water flowing inside it when the vehicle or wheel is cleaned, and heat resistance sufficient to prevent deformation even from high-temperature heat. A guide vane that directs the airflow containing the dust to the first filter 131 can be attached to an end section (right end section in ). Fig. 2) of the first through-hole 131a of the first filter 131, and a detailed description thereof is presented below.

[0066] The first filter cover 132 can have the first mounting space 134, in which the first filter 131 is received and stored, on an inner surface thereof and detachably connected to at least one of the logo body 120 or the base support 150. Like the first filter 131, the first filter cover 132 can be formed in a circular arc shape corresponding to the disc shape, the first mounting space 134 can be defined on an inner circumferential surface of the first filter cover 132, and the first filter 131 can be provided to be mounted in and removed from the first mounting space 134. At a lower end of the first filter cover 132, a first support jaw 132a, extending to an inner surface of the first filter cover 132, can be provided to stably support the first filter 131 received in the first mounting space 134 (see, e.g., Fig. 5 and Fig. 6) A predetermined gap can be provided between the inner circumferential surface of the first filter cover 132 and an outer circumferential surface of the first filter 131, and thus the airflow passing through the first filter 131 can be smoothed.

The first filter cover 132 and the logo body 120 can be attached to or separated from each other by the first fastening element 135, and the first filter cover 132 and the base bracket 150 can be attached to or separated from each other by the third fastening element 136. The first fastening element 135 and the third fastening element 136 can be provided as bolts, and a fastening hole into which a bolt is inserted can be formed by each fastening bracket.Since the logo body 120 and the first filter cover 132 are connected and supported by the first fastening element 135, and the first filter cover 132 and the base bracket 150 are connected and supported by the third fastening element 136, the logo body 120 and the first filter cover 132 can be stably mounted on the vehicle body, and since the first filter cover 132 is detachably mounted with respect to a surrounding component by the first fastening element 135 and the third fastening element 136, maintenance of the product, such as replacing the first filter 131 or the like, can be carried out smoothly.

[0068] Meanwhile, the first filter cover 132 and the base holder 150, although not shown in the drawings, can each be provided with magnets and thus be mounted and separated by magnetic force. Likewise, the first filter cover 132 and the logo body 120 can also each be provided with magnets and mounted and separated by magnetic force, thus facilitating product maintenance, such as replacing the first filter 131 or the like.

[0069] A plurality of first discharge holes 133 can penetrate into and be formed in the first filter cover 132 to discharge the heat or the airflow containing the dust generated by contact between the disc and the brake pads 10 to the outside. The first discharge holes 133 can be formed such that the inside and outside of the first mounting space 134 can communicate with each other, and the central axes of the first discharge holes 133 can be arranged in a vertical direction or in a direction corresponding to it to radiate the heat generated inside uniformly to the outside, such that the central axis of each first discharge hole 133 is angled with respect to the thickness direction of the first filter cover 132.

[0070] The guide vane is provided to direct the airflow containing the dust to the first filter 131.

[0071] With reference to the Fig. 9 and Fig. 10 The guide wing can be provided at an end section of the first through-hole 131a of the first filter 131, and the guide wing can comprise a first guide wing 138, which is provided such that it faces an outer circumferential surface of the disk, a pair of second guide wings 139, which are provided on both sides of the first guide wing 138 and thus face one surface and the other surface of the disk respectively, and a wing support 137, which connects and supports the first and second guide wings 138 and 139 in order to be angle-adjustable on the first filter 131.

[0072] The wing bracket 137 can be configured to cover an inner circumferential surface of an end section of the first through-hole 131a. The wing bracket 137 can be provided with a mounting hole for attachment to the first filter 131, and a first axial hole, into which a pivot axis of the first guide wing 138 is inserted, and a second axial hole, into which a pivot axis of the pair of second guide wings 139 is inserted, can penetrate and be formed in the wing bracket 137.

[0073] The first and second guide vanes 138 and 139 can be mounted on the first filter 131 by means of the vane bracket 137. The first and second guide vanes 138 and 139 can be designed with cross-sections that gradually decrease along the direction of airflow and have an end section of a rear side (upper side in Fig. 10) can be designed such that it is inclined with respect to the direction of airflow towards the first filter 131. Thus, if a vortex occurs in the airflow flowing in the first through-hole 131a, the direction of the airflow towards the first filter 131 can be guided, and thus the dust collection performance of the first filter 131 can be improved.

[0074] The first and second guide vanes 138 and 139 can be provided with adjustable angles for the first filter 131. In particular, the arrangement angles of the first and second guide vanes 138 and 139 can be adjusted according to the vehicle's operating environment or weather conditions, such as temperature, and thus the dust collection performance can be maximized. For this purpose, the first guide vane 138 can be provided with adjustable angles on the vane bracket 137 in a direction parallel to an axial direction of the disk as an axis 138a, and the pair of guide vanes 139 can be provided with adjustable angles on the vane bracket 137 in a direction orthogonal to the axial direction of the first guide vane 138 and corresponding to a radial direction of the disk as an axis 139a.The first and second guide vanes 138 and 139 can be manufactured by presetting them at an optimal angle according to the environment of a sales area of the vehicle or product, and the arrangement angles of the first and second guide vanes 138 and 139 can also be adjusted differently based on a level required by a user. By adjusting the arrangement angles of the first and second guide vanes 138 and 139 as needed, the dust collection performance of the first filter 131 can be improved despite different operating conditions of the product or vehicle.
