Abstract
A layered wood product is described. The layered wood product comprises at least two veneers bonded together with an adhesive that forms a glue line. The adhesive is formed from a lignin-based binder composition combined with a calcium-containing hardener, and the adhesive comprises calcium in a total amount of 0.01–20% by weight based on the total wet weight of the adhesive. The glue line comprises calcium and sulfur, wherein the sulfur-to-calcium ratio in the glue line is 0.05–1.5.
