[0033] Embodiments of a reversible pet carrier are disclosed herein that have a chest panel and a back panel and are configured to be worn by a pet in two or more configurations. The pet carrier may be reversible to provide a variety of different looks (e.g., different patterns, colors) and / or different materials (e.g., net, mesh, fabric) disposed on opposite sides of each of the chest panel and the back panel. In some embodiments, the pet carrier is reversible so that a first side or a second side of the chest panel and the back panel is in direct contact with a pet wearing the carrier. In some embodiments, the pet carrier is reversible to provide a hygienic benefit (e.g., a side that has accumulated dust or debris may be reversed so that it faces the pet / animal wearing the pet carrier).
[0034] In some embodiments, the reversible pet carrier includes repositionable loops disposed on the chest panel and the back panel, each repositionable loop can receive a leash, lead and / or identification tag. In some embodiments, the repositionable loop can receive a leash and one or more identification tags at the same time. In some embodiments, the reversible pet carrier can be a no-pull type pet carrier that is configured to reduce the ability of the pet and / or animal to resist the pull of the leash and / or lead connected to the pet carrier. In some embodiments, the repositionable loop is configured to reposition from one side of the corresponding chest panel and back panel to the other side, so that when the pet carrier is in any of the first configuration, the second configuration, the third configuration or the fourth configuration, the loop can receive the leash and / or lead. In some embodiments, the repositionable loop allows the pet carrier to be reversible without providing additional loops disposed on the chest panel or the back panel of the pet carrier.
[0035] Referring to the drawings in detail, wherein like reference numerals refer to like elements throughout, Figure 1-12 A reversible pet carrier, generally designated 100, is shown in accordance with an exemplary embodiment of the present invention. Figure 1 , Figure 3 , Figures 5A-7D and Figure 8F-12 , various surfaces of the reversible pet carrier 100 are depicted as including different visual patterns for purposes of illustrating aspects of the present disclosure. For example, the patterns illustrated herein may represent a contrast in appearance between different surfaces of the reversible pet carrier 100. The exact patterns illustrated on the surfaces of the reversible pet carrier 100 are intended to be non-limiting, and in some embodiments, the patterns illustrated herein may be replaced with one or more other patterns, colors, textures, and / or materials.
[0036] refer to Figure 1-2, a reversible pet carrier 100, also referred to as a carrier 100, configured to be worn by a pet or animal (e.g., a cat, a dog) is shown. The carrier 100 may include a chest panel 102 and a back panel 104 coupled to each other. The chest panel 102 may include a first side 116 and a second side 118 opposite the first side 116. The first side 116 and the second side 118 may each define a separate and distinct layer of the chest panel 102. For example, the first side 116 may define a first layer, and the second side 118 may define a second layer. In some embodiments, the first side 116 and the second side 118 are fixedly coupled to each other by, for example, but not limited to, stitching and / or an adhesive. In some embodiments, the first side 116 may be visually and / or texturally different from the second side 118. In other embodiments, the first side 116 may be visually and / or texturally identical to the second side 118. In some embodiments, the first side 116 and / or the second side 118 include fabric. In some embodiments, the fabric may include a design printed, adhered, and / or sewn onto the fabric. In some embodiments, the first side 116 and / or the second side 118 may include a mesh material coupled to the respective first side 116 and / or the second side 118 .
[0037] In some embodiments, the back panel 104 includes a first side portion 120 and a second side portion 122 opposite the first side portion 120 (in Figure 6B ). Similar to the chest panel 102, the first side 120 and the second side 122 may each define a separate and distinct layer of the back panel 104. For example, the first side 120 may define a first layer and the second side 122 may define a second layer. The first side 120 and the second side 118 of the back panel 104 may be fixedly coupled to each other by, for example, but not limited to, stitching and / or an adhesive. In some embodiments, the first side 120 may be visually and / or texturally different from the second side 122. In other embodiments, the first side 120 may be visually and / or texturally identical to the second side 122. In some embodiments, the first side 120 and / or the second side 122 include fabric. In some embodiments, the fabric may include a design printed, adhered, and / or stitched to the fabric. In some embodiments, the first side 120 and / or the second side 122 may include a mesh material coupled to the respective first side 120 and / or the second side 122.
[0038] In some embodiments, one or more of the sides of the chest panel 102 and the back panel 104 are visually and / or texturally different from one or more other sides of the chest panel 102 and the back panel 104. For example, the first side 120 of the back panel 104 may include a design, color, pattern, and / or texture that is different from the front side 116 of the chest panel 102. In some embodiments, each of the sides of the chest panel 102 and the back panel 104 are visually and / or texturally different from each of the sides of the chest panel 102 and the back panel 104. For example, the first side 116, 120 and the second side 118, 122 of each of the respective chest panel 102 and the back panel 104 may each be visually and / or texturally different. In some embodiments, one or more sides of the chest panel 102 and the back panel 104 may be visually and / or texturally the same as one or more other sides of the chest panel 102 and the back panel 104. For example, and without limiting the generality of the foregoing sentence, the first side 116 of the chest panel 102 and the first side 120 of the back panel 102 may be visually and / or texturally identical (eg, may include the same pattern or design).
[0039] In some embodiments, the reversible harness 100 can be worn by the pet in one or more visually different configurations by providing one or more sides of the chest panel 102 and the back panel 104 with a different appearance than one or more other sides of the chest panel 102 and the back panel 104. For example, in Figure 1 In the configuration shown in FIG. 1 , the first side portion 116 of the chest panel 102 and the second side portion 122 of the back panel 104 (in FIG. 1 ) are Figure 6B 104) are facing away from each other and away from the pet wearing the harness 100. As such, the second side 118 of the chest panel 102 and the first side 120 of the back panel 104 face each other and toward the pet wearing the harness 100. In this manner, the pet's body may substantially obscure the second side 118 of the chest panel 102 and the first side 120 of the back panel 104 without obscuring the respective first side 116 and second side 122 of the chest panel 102 and the back panel 104. In some embodiments, the harness 100 includes one or more straps that couple the chest panel 102 to the back panel 104 so that the harness can be moved with respect to the pet wearing the harness 100. Figures 7A-7D Repositioning between two or more configurations is discussed in more detail.
[0040] In some embodiments, there is a first plurality of straps, generally designated 103, coupled to the chest panel 102 and a second plurality of straps, generally designated 105, coupled to the back panel 104. The first plurality of straps 103 may be configured to couple the chest panel 102 to the chest of the pet. In some embodiments, the first plurality of straps 103 includes a first strap 103a and a second strap 103b, each coupled to the chest panel 102. The first strap 103a and / or the second strap 103b may be adjustable relative to the chest panel 102. For example, the first strap 103a and the second strap 103b may be independently movable or rotatable relative to each other and to the chest panel 102. The second plurality of straps 105 may be configured to couple the back panel 104 to the back of the pet. In some embodiments, the second plurality of straps 105 includes a first strap 105a and a second strap 105b, each coupled to the back panel 104. In some embodiments, the first strap 105a and / or the second strap 105b may be adjustable relative to the back panel 104.
[0041] In some embodiments, the second plurality of straps 105 is configured to couple the back panel 104 to the chest panel 102. For example, the second plurality of straps 105 may be coupled to the first plurality of straps 103 such that the back panel 104 is coupled to the chest panel 102. In some embodiments, the first plurality of straps 103 may include one or more corresponding fastening components configured to engage with corresponding fastening components of the second plurality of straps 105 such that the first plurality of straps 103 and the second plurality of straps 105 may be coupled to each other. There may be at least one first fastening component 107a coupled to the first plurality of straps 103 and at least one second fastening component 107b coupled to the second plurality of straps 105. In some embodiments, the at least one first fastening component 107a is coupled to a terminal end of a strap in the first plurality of straps 103. For example, the first fastening component 107a may be coupled to a terminal end of the first strap 103a and / or the second strap 103b. In some embodiments, the at least one second fastening component 107b is coupled to a terminal end of a strap in the second plurality of straps 105. For example, the second fastening component 107b may be coupled to the terminal ends of the first strap 105a and / or the second strap 105b.
[0042] In some embodiments, there is a fastening component coupled to each terminal end of each strip included in the first plurality of strips 103 and the second plurality of strips 105. For example, there may be a first fastening component 107a coupled to the terminal ends of the first strip 103a and the second strip 103b in the first plurality of strips 103. Similarly, there may be a second fastening component 107b coupled to the terminal ends of the first strip 105a and the second strip 105b in the second plurality of strips 105. In other embodiments, there is a single fastening component coupled to one terminal end of each strip included in the first plurality of strips 103 and the second plurality of strips 105. For example, there may be a first fastening component 107a coupled to the terminal ends of the first strip 103a and the second strip 103b in the first plurality of strips 103. The first fastening component 107a may be coupled to the corresponding first strip 103a and the second strip 103b at similar terminal ends. For example, the first fastening component 107a may be coupled to the leftmost or rightmost terminal end of each of the first strap 103a and the second strap 103b. Similarly, the first strap 105a and the second strap 105b may each include a second fastening component 107b coupled to a single terminal end of the straps 105a, 105b. The second fastening component 107b may be coupled to the corresponding straps 105a, 105b at similar terminal ends (e.g., both fastening components 107b are coupled to the rightmost or leftmost terminal end). In some embodiments, the back panel 104 is removable from the chest panel 102. For example, by providing a fastening component 107a, 107b coupled to each terminal end of the straps 103a, 103b, 105a, 105b, the chest panel 102 may be removably coupled to the back panel 104.
[0043] In some embodiments, the first fastening component 107a and the second fastening component 107b can each be a corresponding half of any conventional fastener known to those skilled in the art. In some embodiments, the first fastening component 107a and the second fastening component 107b can be corresponding halves of a buckle or a side release buckle. For example, one or more of the first fastening components 107a can be a female component of a side release buckle, and one or more of the second fastening components 107b can be a male component of a side release buckle. In some embodiments, the fastening components coupled to the terminal ends of any one of the straps (e.g., straps 103a, 103b, 105a, 105b) are identical to each other. For example, the first fastening components 107a coupled to the terminal ends of the first strap 103a can each be a female component of a side release buckle. The corresponding fastening components (such as the second fastening components 107b coupled to the first strap 105b of the second plurality of straps 105) can each be a male component of a side release buckle.
[0044] By providing the first fastening components 107a as the same half (e.g., male component, female component) of the type of fastening components used and providing the second fastening components 107b as the remaining half (e.g., male component, female component) on the corresponding straps (e.g., first straps 103a and 105a, second straps 103b and 105b) of the chest panel 102 and the back panel 104, each of the chest panel 102 and the back panel 104 can be rotated relative to each other and independently of each other so that any combination of the sides (e.g., first sides 116 and 120 and second sides 118 and 122) of the chest panel 102 and the back panel 104 can face each other. In some embodiments, each of the first fastening components 107a coupled to the first plurality of straps 103 is the same half of the desired type of fastening component. For example, each of the first fastening components 107a can be a male component or a female component of a side release buckle type of fastening component. Similarly, each of the second fastening components 107b coupled to the second plurality of straps 105 can be the remaining half of a fastening component of the desired type. For example, when the first fastening component 107a is a male component, each of the second fastening components 107b can be a female component of a side release buckle type fastening component, and vice versa.
[0045] In some embodiments, when each of the strips 103a, 103b, 105a, 105b includes a single fastening component 107a, 107b, the remaining terminal ends may be fixedly coupled to each other. For example, when each of the strips 103a, 103b, 105a, 105b includes a corresponding fastening component 107a, 107b coupled to the leftmost terminal end of the strip, the rightmost terminal ends of the first strips 103a, 105a may be fixedly coupled to each other, and the rightmost terminal ends of the second strips 103b, 105b may be fixedly coupled to each other.
[0046] refer to Figure 2-3 In some embodiments, a first strip 103a and a second strip 103b of the first plurality of strips are coupled to the chest panel 102 opposite to each other. For example, the chest panel 102 may include a top section 106, a bottom section 108, and a center section 110 extending between the top section 106 and the bottom section 108. The first strip 103a may be coupled to the bottom section 108, and the second strip 103b may be coupled to the top section 106. In some embodiments, the chest panel 102 includes one or more channels configured to couple the first plurality of strips 103 to the chest panel 102. For example, the chest panel 102 may include a first bottom section opening 112a and a second bottom section opening 112b.
[0047] There may be a channel extending between the first bottom section opening 112a and the second bottom section opening 112b through which the first strap 103a may pass. Similarly, the chest panel 102 may include a first top section opening 114a and a second top section opening 114b. There may be a channel extending between the first top section opening 114a and the second top section opening 114b through which the second strap 103b may pass. In some embodiments, the channel extending between the bottom section openings 112a and 112b and / or the channel extending between the top section openings 114a and 114b may be sandwiched between the first side 116 and the second side 118 of the chest panel 102. In this manner, portions of the first strap 103a and the second strap 103b positioned within the respective channels are not exposed at the exterior surface of the chest panel 102. In some embodiments, one or more of the first strap 103a and the second strap 103b may rotate and / or move within the corresponding channels. In some embodiments, one or more of the first and second straps 103a, 103b may be detachable from the corresponding channel. For example, the straps 103a and 103b may slide into and out of the corresponding channel. In other embodiments, the straps 103a and 103b are fixedly coupled to the chest panel 102.
[0048] In some embodiments, the harness 100 may include one or more pockets configured to provide a certain amount of storage on the harness 100. There may be one or more pockets 124a, 124b coupled to the first side 116 and / or the second side 118 of the chest panel. In some embodiments, the first pocket 124a is coupled to the first side 116 and the second pocket 124b is coupled to the second side 118. The first pocket 124a may extend outwardly from the first side 116 of the chest panel 102 and the second pocket 124b may extend outwardly from the second side 118 of the chest panel 102. In some embodiments, the first pocket 124a is fixedly coupled to the first side 116 (e.g., stitching, adhesive) and the second pocket 124b is fixedly coupled to the second side 118 (e.g., stitching, adhesive). The pockets 124a, 124b may be positioned on the top section 106 opposite one another (e.g., on the first side 116 and the second side 118). The pockets 124a, 124b may include openings so that a user can store and retrieve items within the respective pockets 124a, 124b. For example, a user may store items such as, but not limited to, animal waste bags, identification tags, pet food within the first pocket 124a and / or the second pocket 124b so that the items can be easily stored and retrieved as desired. In some embodiments, there may be labels 126a, 126b coupled to the outer surfaces of the first pocket 124a and the second pocket 124b. The labels 126a, 126b may include any text, pattern, design, and / or any other visual appearance and texture.
[0049] refer to Figure 4 , showing an enlarged cross-sectional view of the chest panel 102. In some embodiments, the first side portion 116 and the second side portion 118 are fixedly coupled to each other near the perimeter of each of the first side portion 116 and the second side portion 118. For example, the perimeters of both the first side portion 116 and the second side portion 118 can be sewn and / or adhered to each other. In this manner, the first side portion 116 and the second side portion 118 can be fixedly coupled to each other while also providing a space between the first side portion 116 and the second side portion 118 to allow one or more straps or other components of the harness 100 to be at least partially disposed therein. For example, as Figure 4 As shown in , the first side portion 116 and the second side portion 118 are coupled to each other along their respective peripheries and are spaced apart from each other within the peripheries. In this way, the first side portion 116 and the second side portion 118 can be moved closer to and away from each other in the space within the periphery where the side portions 116 and 118 are coupled to each other.
[0050] In some embodiments, first pocket 124a is fixedly coupled to first side portion 116 via stitching and / or adhesive such that the stitching and / or adhesive does not extend from first pocket 124a through first side portion 116 and through second side portion 118. In this manner, first pocket 124a may be coupled to first side portion 116 while allowing first side portion 116 to be spaced apart from second side portion 118 near first pocket 124a. Second pocket 124b may be coupled to second side portion 118 in a substantially similar manner.
[0051] although Figure 4 104, but the first side portion 120 and the second side portion 122 of the back panel 104 can be coupled to each other in substantially the same manner as the chest panel 102. For example, the first side portion 120 and the second side portion 122 can be coupled to each other along the perimeter of each side portion 120 and 122. The first side portion 120 and the second side portion 122 can be coupled to each other via stitching and / or an adhesive. In this manner, there can be a space between the first side portion 120 and the second side portion 122 of the back panel, within which one or more straps and / or other components of the harness 100 can be at least partially positioned. In some embodiments, and although not shown, the back panel 104 can include one or more pockets coupled to the back panel 104 in substantially the same manner as the pockets 124a, 124b.
[0052] refer to Figure 5A-5B, showing front and rear elevation views of the chest panel 102. The chest panel 102 may have a generally I-shaped, frusto-conical top portion and a generally T-shaped bottom portion. When worn by a pet and / or animal, the chest panel 102 may be configured to wrap at least partially around the pet's neck and / or chest above the pet's front legs (e.g., top section 106), extend along a portion of the pet's chest to below the pet's front legs (e.g., center section 110), and extend at least partially around the pet's ribs above the pet's abdomen and below the front legs (e.g., bottom section 108). The center section 110 may extend along the length of the harness 100. The top section 106 may be disposed above the center section 110 and extend along the width of the harness 100. The bottom section 108 may be disposed opposite the top section 106 (e.g., below the center section 110) and extend along the width of the harness 100. In some embodiments, the center section 110, the top section 106, and the bottom section 108 are uniform structures. Figure 5A-5B , the first fastener 107a coupled to the first strap 103a is the male component of the side release buckle, and the first fastener 107a coupled to the second strap 103b is the female component of the side release buckle. However, it will be understood that each of the first fasteners 107a coupled to the first strap 103a and the second strap 103b can be a male component or a female component of one type of fastener. In some embodiments, the first side portion 116 includes a first visual appearance (e.g., a pattern, design, color), and the second side portion 118 includes a second visual appearance that is different from the first visual appearance.
[0053] refer to Figure 6A-6B, showing a front elevation view and a rear elevation view of the back panel 104. The back panel 104 may include a top section 128, a bottom section 130 opposite the top section 128, and a center section 132 extending between the top section 128 and the bottom section 130. The back panel 104 may have a generally I-shaped, frusto-conical top portion and a generally T-shaped bottom portion. When worn by a pet and / or animal, the back panel 104 may be configured to wrap at least partially around the nape and / or back of the pet above the pet's front legs (e.g., the top section 128), extend along a portion of the pet's back to below the pet's front legs (e.g., the center section 132), and extend toward and / or at least partially around the pet's ribs below the pet's front legs (e.g., the bottom section 130). The center section 132 may extend along the length of the harness 100. The top section 128 may be disposed above the center section 132 and extend along the width of the harness 100. The bottom section 130 can be disposed opposite the top section 128 (e.g., below the center section 132) and extend along the width of the harness 100. In some embodiments, the center section 132, the top section 128, and the bottom section 130 are of uniform structure. In some embodiments, the first side 120 includes a third visual appearance (e.g., a pattern, design, color) and the second side 122 includes a fourth visual appearance that is different from the third visual appearance. In some embodiments, the third and fourth visual appearances of the first and second sides 120, 122 of the back panel 104 are different from the first and second visual appearances of the first and second sides 116, 118 of the chest panel 102.
[0054] In some embodiments, the back panel 104 includes one or more channels configured to couple the second plurality of straps 105 to the back panel 104. For example, the back panel 104 may include a first bottom section opening 113a and a second bottom section opening 113b. The first bottom section opening 113a and the bottom section opening 113b may be similar to the bottom section openings 112a, 112b of the chest panel 102. For example, there may be a channel extending between the first bottom section opening 113a and the second bottom section opening 113b through which the first strap 105a may pass. The back panel 102 may include a first top section opening 115a and a second top section opening 115b. There may be a channel extending between the first top section opening 115a and the second top section opening 115b through which the second strap 105b may pass. In some embodiments, the channel extending between the bottom section openings 113a and 113b and / or the channel extending between the top section openings 115a and 115b may be sandwiched between the first side 120 and the second side 130 of the back panel 104. In this way, the portions of the first strip 105a and the second strip 105b positioned in the corresponding channels are not exposed to the outer surface of the back panel 104. In some embodiments, one or more of the first strip 105a and the second strip 105b may rotate and / or move in the corresponding channels. In some embodiments, one or more of the first strip 105a and the second strip 105b may be separated from the corresponding channels. For example, the strips 105a and 105b may slide in and out of the corresponding channels. In other embodiments, the strips 105a and 105b are fixedly connected to the back panel 104.
[0055] exist Figure 6A-6B In the embodiment, the second fastener 107b coupled to the first strap 105a is a female component of a side release buckle, and the second fastener 107b coupled to the second strap 105b is a male component of a side release buckle. The placement of the male and female components included in the second fastener 107b may correspond to the placement of the male and female components included in the first fastener 107a. For example, in Figure 5A-5B , the first fastener 107a coupled to the first strap 103a is illustrated as a male component and in Figure 6A-6B105b, the second fastener 107b is illustrated as a female component. The first fastener 107a and the second fastener 107b coupled to the second straps 103b, 105b may be substantially similar in that the second strap 103b of the chest panel 102 includes one half of the type of fastener and the second strap 105b of the back panel 104 includes the remaining half of the type of fastener. In some embodiments, each of the second fasteners 107b coupled to the first strap 105a and the second strap 105b may be a male component or a female component of a type of fastener. For example, the second fastener 107b coupled to the first strap 105a and the second strap 105b may be the remaining half of a type of fastener coupled to the straps 103a and 103b of the chest panel 102. In other words, if the chest panel 102 includes first fastening components 107a that are each the male component of a side release buckle, the back panel 104 may include second fastening components 107b that are each the female component of a side release buckle, or vice versa.
[0056] In some embodiments, by providing a first fastening component 107a (in Figure 5A-5B ) and a second fastening member 107b (shown in Figure 6A-6B 1 ), the chest panel 102 may be detachable from the back panel 104. As such, the chest panel 102 and the back panel 104 may be separated such that one or both of the panels 102, 104 may be rotated or reoriented relative to and independently of each other and reconnected together. Additionally, each side portion 116, 118, 120, 122 of the chest panel 102 and the back panel 104 may include a visual appearance that is different from each other side portion 116, 118, 120, 122, respectively. In this manner, the harness 100 may be configured in two or more configurations, each having a different visual appearance from one another.
[0057] refer to Figures 7A-7D , the harness 100 is shown in different configurations, each configuration having a visual appearance different from each other configuration. "Visual appearance" can refer to the appearance of the outwardly facing sides of the corresponding chest panel 102 and back panel 104. For example, the second side 118 of the chest panel 102 and the first side 120 of the back panel 104 can face each other in a first configuration, thereby causing the first side 116 of the chest panel 102 and the second side 120 of the back panel 104 to face outward (e.g., away from each other and away from the body of the pet wearing the harness 100).
[0058] In some embodiments, the harness 100 is configured in a first configuration in which the first side 116 of the chest panel 102 and the second side 122 of the back panel 104 face outwardly, such as Fig. 7A The first configuration may be characterized in that the second side 118 of the chest panel 102 and the first side 120 of the back panel 104 face each other. In some embodiments, the harness 100 is configured in the second configuration in which the first side 116 of the chest panel 102 and the first side 120 of the back panel 104 face outward, as shown in FIG. Figure 7B The second configuration may be characterized by the second side 118 of the chest panel 102 and the second side 122 of the back panel 104 facing each other. In some embodiments, the harness 100 may be configured in a third configuration in which the second side 118 of the chest panel 102 and the second side 122 of the back panel 104 face outward, such as Figure 7C The third configuration may be characterized by the first side 116 of the chest panel 102 and the first side 120 of the back panel 104 facing each other. In some embodiments, the harness 100 is configured in a fourth configuration in which the second side 118 of the chest panel 102 and the first side 120 of the back panel 104 face outward, as shown in FIG. Fig.7D The fourth configuration may be characterized in that the first side 116 of the chest panel 102 and the second side 122 of the back panel 104 face each other.
[0059] In some embodiments, when the strap 100 is in Figures 7A-7D , the first fastening component(s) 107a and the second fastening component(s) 107b may be engaged with each other (e.g., directly coupled to each other) when any of the configurations illustrated in . In some embodiments, one or more of the straps 103a, 103b, 105a, 105b may be rotated, moved, or reoriented relative to the corresponding chest panel 102 and back panel 104 and within the channel defined by the panels 102, 104.
[0060] refer to Figure 1, the harness 100 may include one or more adjustable loops configured to protrude outwardly from the chest panel 102 and / or the back panel 104 when the harness 100 is in any of the configurations discussed above (e.g., the first configuration, the second configuration, the third configuration, and the fourth configuration). In some embodiments, the harness 100 may include a first loop 134 coupled to the chest panel 102 and / or a second loop 136 coupled to the back panel 104. In some embodiments, one or more of the first loop 134 and the second loop 136 include a generally linear first portion and a second portion having a semicircular shape and disposed opposite the first portion. In some embodiments, there is an elongated portion on either side of the first portion connecting the first portion to the second portion. In some embodiments, the first ring 134 is a unitary structure. In some embodiments, the second ring 136 is a unitary structure.
[0061] In some embodiments, the first ring 134 and / or the second ring 136 are constructed of metal (e.g., steel, aluminum, nickel-plated steel, stainless steel, zinc die casting, brass). In other embodiments, the first chest ring 134 and / or the second chest ring 136 are constructed of plastic. In some embodiments, the first ring 134 and / or the second ring 136 have an outer width of any one of about 15 mm, about 20 mm, about 25 mm, about 30 mm, and about 40 mm. In some embodiments, the first ring 134 and / or the second ring 136 have an inner width of about 10 mm, about 12 mm, about 14 mm, about 16 mm, about 18 mm, about 20 mm, about 22 mm, about 24 mm, about 26 mm, about 28 mm, about 30 mm, about 32 mm, about 34 mm, and about 36 mm. In some embodiments, the first ring 134 and / or the second ring 136 have an outer length of any one of about 15 mm, about 20 mm, about 25 mm, about 30 mm, and about 40 mm. In some embodiments, the first ring 134 and / or the second ring 136 have an inner length of about 10 mm, about 12 mm, about 14 mm, about 16 mm, about 18 mm, about 20 mm, about 22 mm, about 24 mm, about 26 mm, about 28 mm, about 30 mm, about 32 mm, about 34 mm, and about 36 mm. In some embodiments, the first ring 134 and / or the second ring 136 have a thickness of about 4.5 mm. In other embodiments, the first ring 134 and / or the second ring 136 have any one of a thickness of about 2.0 mm, 2.5 mm, 3.0 mm, and 4.0 mm.
[0062] In some embodiments, there may be a third ring 137 coupled to the back panel 104. In some embodiments, the third ring 137 may be substantially identical to either of the first ring 134 and the second ring 136, except that the third ring 137 may be fixedly coupled to the back panel 104 along the perimeter of the back panel 104. The third ring 137 may be able to rotate relative to the back panel 104. In some embodiments, the third ring 137 is coupled to the bottom perimeter of the back panel 104. In some embodiments, the third ring 137 is coupled to the perimeter of the back panel 104 and extends outwardly from the perimeter of the back panel 104.
[0063] The chest panel 102 may include an opening 138 extending from the first side portion 116 to the second side portion 118. In some embodiments, the opening 138 extends through the thickness of the chest panel 102. In some embodiments, the chest panel 102 includes a first reinforcement liner 140 and a second reinforcement liner 142 (in Figure 5B 1 ), each reinforcement pad includes a first aperture defining an opening 138. In some embodiments, the first reinforcement pad 140 is directly coupled to the first side 116 of the chest panel 102. In some embodiments, the first reinforcement pad 140 is sewn to the first side 116 of the chest panel 102. In some embodiments, the second reinforcement pad 142 is directly coupled to the second side 118 of the chest panel 102. In some embodiments, the second reinforcement pad 142 is sewn to the second side 118 of the chest panel 102.
[0064] In some embodiments, the back panel 104 includes an opening 144 extending from the first side 120 to the second side 122 of the back panel 104. The opening 144 can be substantially the same as the opening 138 of the chest panel 102. For example, the opening 144 can extend through the thickness of the back panel 104 from the first side 120 to the second side 122. In some embodiments, the back panel 104 includes a first reinforcement pad 146 and a second reinforcement pad 148 (at Figure 6B 14), each reinforcement pad includes a second aperture defining an opening 144. In some embodiments, the first reinforcement pad 146 is directly coupled to the first side 120 of the back panel 104. In some embodiments, the first reinforcement pad 146 is sewn to the first side 120 of the back panel 104. Similarly, in some embodiments, the second reinforcement pad 148 is directly coupled to the second side 122 of the back panel 104 and can be sewn to the second side 122 of the back panel 104.
[0065] In some embodiments, the reinforcement pads 140, 142, 146, 148 are comprised of a material different from the material comprising the chest panel 102 and / or the back panel 104. In some embodiments, the reinforcement pads 140, 142, 146, 148 are comprised of leather, artificial leather, imitation leather, or any other textile capable of being sewn to the chest panel 102 and / or the back panel 104. In some embodiments, the reinforcement pads 140, 142, 146, 148 each have a generally pill-like shape (e.g., two rounded sides that are opposite to each other and connected by generally horizontal upper and lower edges). In some embodiments, the reinforcement pads 140, 142, 146, 148 may have a generally square shape, a generally rectangular shape, a generally circular shape, a generally oval shape, or any other shape.
[0066] In some embodiments, the chest panel 102 may include a first central strip 150 configured to couple the first loop 134 to the chest panel 102. The back panel 104 may include a second central strip 152 configured to couple the second loop 136 to the back panel 104. The first central strip 150 may extend partially along the length of the chest panel 102. In some embodiments, the first central strip 150 is disposed between the first side 116 and the second side 118 of the chest panel 102. Similarly, the second central strip 152 may be disposed between the first side 120 and the second side 122 of the back panel 104. In some embodiments, the first central strip 150 is coupled to at least one of the first side 116 and the second side 118 of the chest panel 102 such that a portion of the first central strip 150 extends across the opening 138. Similarly, the second center strip 152 can be coupled to at least one of the first side 120 and the second side 122 of the back panel 104 such that a portion of the second center strip 152 extends across the opening 144. In some embodiments, the first center strip 150 and the second center strip 152 are constructed of a substantially rigid material. In other embodiments, the first center strip 150 and the second center strip 152 are at least partially constructed of an elastic material. In some embodiments, at least one of the first center strip 150 and the second center strip 152 is constructed of nylon webbing. In some embodiments, the width of the openings 138, 144 is between about 0.5 inches and 1.5 inches. In some embodiments, the height of the openings 138, 144 is between about 0.125 inches and 0.25 inches.
[0067] In some embodiments, portions of the first central strip 150 and the second central strip 152 are visible through the respective openings 138, 144. In some embodiments, the first central strip 150 and the second central strip 152 extend above and below the respective openings 138, 144. In some embodiments, at least one end of each of the first central strip 150 and the second central strip 152 extending above or below the respective openings 138, 144 is fixedly coupled to (e.g., sewn to, adhered to) the respective chest panel 102 or back panel 104. In some embodiments, both ends of the first central strip 150 and the second central strip 152 positioned above and below the respective openings 138, 144 are fixedly coupled to the respective chest panel 102 or back panel 104. In some embodiments, each of the first central strip 150 and the second central strip 152 has a width that is less than the width of the corresponding opening 138, 144. In some embodiments, the first and second center strips 150, 152 are positioned within the corresponding openings 138, 144 so that the opposing sections of the corresponding loops 134, 136 can pass through the corresponding openings 138, 144. In other embodiments, the center strips 150, 152 may have a width that is the same as or greater than the corresponding openings 138, 144. In other embodiments, one or more of the center strips 150, 152 include one or more apertures through which the corresponding first or second chest loop 134, 136 extends. In other embodiments, the chest panel 102 and / or the back panel 104 include one or more apertures through which the corresponding first or second chest loop 134, 136 extends, and may or may not include the corresponding center strips 150, 152. In some embodiments, one or more of the first and second center strips 150, 152 are constructed of a textile such as, but not limited to, polyester, neoprene, or nylon.
[0068] In some embodiments, each of the first and second loops 134, 136 includes a respective loop opening configured to allow the corresponding center strap 150, 152 to pass therethrough. For example, different portions of the first and second loops 134, 136 (e.g., the first portion, the second portion, and the elongated portion discussed above) may define an opening around which the loops 134, 136 extend. The center straps 150, 152 may pass through the openings in the corresponding loops 134, 136, thereby coupling the loops 134, 136 to the corresponding chest and back panels 102, 104.
[0069] For example, and refer to Fig.8F, the first ring 134 may include a first portion 154 and a second portion 156 opposite to the first portion 154. The first portion 154 of the first ring 134 is disposed on one side of the first central strip 150, and the second portion 156 is disposed on the opposite side of the first central strip 150. Fig.8F The chest panel 102 is shown with a first ring 134 coupled to the chest panel 102 by a first center strap 150, but it will be understood that the second ring 136 may be connected to the chest panel 102 in the same manner as described with reference to FIG. Fig.8F The first loop 134 can be coupled to the back panel 104 in a manner substantially the same as described above. In some embodiments, the first loop 134 can be repositionable such that the position of the first loop 134 relative to the first center strip 150 transitions from a first position to a second position. In some embodiments, the first center strip 150 passing through the opening defined by the first loop 134 allows the first loop 134 to be adjusted relative to the first center strip 150. For example, the second portion 156 of the first loop 134 can be adjusted such that the second portion 156 extends outwardly from the first side 116 of the chest panel 102 while the first portion 154 extends outwardly toward or from the second side 118, and vice versa. In some embodiments, the first loop 134 is not rigidly coupled to the first center strip 150. For example, the first loop 134 can define an opening located in the center of the first loop 134. The first central strap 150 may pass through an opening located in the center of the first ring 134 such that the first ring 134 is coupled to the first central strap 150 without being fixed relative to the first central strap 150 at any location along the first ring.
[0070] As mentioned above, it will be appreciated that the foregoing description of the first loop 134 coupled to the chest panel 102 via the first center strap 150 may apply to the coupling of the second loop 136 to the back panel 104 via the second center strap 152. As such, for the sake of brevity, the coupling of the second loop 136 to the back panel 104 via the second center strap 152 will not be discussed.
[0071] In some embodiments, the first loop 134 and the second loop 136 are each repositionable between a first position and a second position such that when the harness 100 is as shown in FIG. Figures 7A-7D In any of the four configurations discussed above, a leash or lead may be attached to the harness 100. In some embodiments, each of the first loop 134 and the second loop 136 is configured to attach a leash and / or lead to the harness 100 without causing the corresponding loop 134, 136 to be pressed into the pet's skin and / or fur during use such that the loop 134, 136 causes discomfort to the pet. In some embodiments, when the harness 100 is worn by a pet in any of the four configurations discussed above, a portion (e.g., the first portion 154) may partially abut the pet's fur or skin.
[0072] refer to Figures 8A-8E , shows an enlarged cross-sectional view of the harness 100 depicting an example of the first loop 134 being adjusted between a first position and a second position. It will be appreciated that the following example and description of the first loop 134 being adjusted between a first position and a second position may be applicable to similar adjustment of the second loop 136 being adjusted between the first position and the second position, and as such, for the sake of brevity, adjustment of the second loop 136 between the positions will not be discussed.
[0073] like Fig. 8A , the first loop 134 is in a first position, wherein the second portion 156 of the first loop 134 extends outwardly from the first side 116 of the chest panel 102. As indicated by arrow B, the second portion 156 of the first loop 134 can be moved along the axis A1 toward the first center strip 150 so that the second portion 156 is closer to the first center strip 150 than the first portion 154. In some embodiments, the user manually moves the first loop 134 along the axis A1. In other embodiments, the first loop 134 can be partially moved along the axis A1, and a strap can be attached to the first loop 134 to pull the first loop 134 along the axis A1 so that the first loop 134 extends from the outer surface of the chest panel 102 (e.g., Figure 8C In other embodiments, the first loop 134 may be partially movable along the axis A1, and the pet carrier 100 may be coupled to the pet such that the pet's chest pushes the first loop 134 to extend from the outer surface of the chest panel 102 (e.g., Figure 8C As shown in Figure 8B , the first ring 134 has moved a first distance along the axis A1 in the direction indicated by arrow B, such that the first portion 154 has moved away from the second side portion 118, and the second portion 142 has moved toward the second side portion 118.
