[0026] Hereinafter, the preferred embodiments of the present invention will be described in detail with reference to the accompanying drawings so that those skilled in the art can easily implement the present invention. However, the present invention can be implemented in several different forms and is not limited or constrained by the following examples.
[0027] In order to clearly illustrate the present invention, the detailed description of the related known technology that is irrelevant to the description or may unnecessarily obscure the gist of the present invention is omitted, and in this specification, reference numerals are added to the components in each accompanying drawing. In this case, the same or similar reference numerals are assigned to the same or similar elements throughout the specification.
[0028] Furthermore, the terms or words used in the specification and claims should not be restrictively interpreted as ordinary meanings or dictionary-based meanings, but should be interpreted as meanings and concepts consistent with the scope of the present invention based on the principle that the inventor can appropriately define the concepts of the terms to best describe and interpret his or her invention.
[0029] Figure 1 is a schematic diagram showing an example of applying an active material on the electrode sheet 10 .
[0030] In the electrode process in the process of producing a secondary battery, a process of applying an active material on the electrode sheet 10 may be performed. The active material may be applied on the electrode sheet (or electrode current collector) in a predetermined pattern, and an active material portion 20 on which the active material is applied and a non-coating portion 30 on which the active material is not applied may be formed on the electrode sheet 10.
[0031] like Figure 1 As shown in , the active material portion 20 may include the active material portion 20 having a regular arrangement by coating the active material in a predetermined pattern (striped coating) on the electrode sheet 10. The non-coated portion 30 may be provided between the active material portions 20. The predetermined pattern is not limited to striped coating, and may also be intermittent coating, without particular limitation.
[0032] Figure 2 and Figure 3 1 is a schematic diagram of an area where etching may be applied when an active material is applied to an electrode sheet 10 according to various embodiments of the present invention. Figure 2 is a side view of the electrode sheet 10, Figure 3 is a plan view of the electrode sheet 10. The above description may be equally or similarly applied hereinafter.
[0033] Reference Figure 2, the active material may be applied on both surfaces of the electrode sheet 10. For example, the active material may be applied on the top surface of the electrode sheet 10 to form an upper active material portion 21, and the active material may be applied on the bottom surface of the electrode sheet 10 to form a lower active material portion 22. In this case, sliding may occur during the coating process of the upper active material portion 21, and mismatch with the lower active material portion 22 may occur. When mismatch with the lower active material portion 22 occurs due to sliding during the coating process of the upper active material portion 21, in order to improve the coating quality by solving the mismatch problem, the boundary area 11 of the upper active material portion 21 as the edge area may need to be etched. In addition, Figure 2 Unlike the example shown, sliding may occur at the lower active material portion 22, and thus mismatching with the upper active material portion 21 may occur. In this case, etching of the edge region of the lower active material portion 22 may be required to resolve the mismatch. The edge region may be a boundary region between the active material portions 21, 22 and the non-coating portion (e.g., the non-coating portion 30).
[0034] Reference Figure 3 , a plurality of active material portions 20a, 20b, 20c may be formed on the electrode sheet 10. Figure 3 It is shown that the active material portions 20a, 20b, 20c are formed in a stripe pattern, but the following description is not limited thereto. Each of the first active material portion 20a, the second active material portion 20b, and the third active material portion 20c can be coated on the electrode sheet 10 in parallel in a stripe pattern. The coated first active material portion 20a, the second active material portion 20b, and the third active material portion 20c may need to be etched to the extent required for a subsequent process (e.g., a slotting process). For example, when a slotting process for forming an electrode tab is performed after applying the first active material portion 20a, the second active material portion 20b, and the third active material portion 20c in the electrode process, etching may be performed on the prepared slotted area 12 during the coating process. During the slotting process, a portion of the prepared slotted area 12 may be slotted to form an electrode tab.
[0035] Although referenced Figure 2 and Figure 3 The boundary region 11 and the preliminary groove region 12 are described, but the region to be etched may not be limited thereto, and the following description will be given in the region to be etched. In the case of performing etching, it may be applied without particular limitation.
[0036] Figure 4 2 is a schematic diagram of a laser etching system 100 according to an embodiment of the present invention. The above description may be equally or similarly applied to the following.
[0037] The laser etching system 100 can perform laser etching on an area that needs to be etched, such as a boundary area 11 or a pre-grooved area 12. The laser etching system 100 may include a laser etching device 101, and an active material portion (e.g., a first active material portion 20a) may be etched using the laser etching device 101. For example, the laser etching device 101 may etch the edge of the first active material portion 20a at a predetermined position in the traveling direction of the electrode sheet 10. While the electrode sheet 10 moves in the traveling direction, etching may be performed on a predetermined area at a predetermined interval by the laser etching device 101.
[0038] Hereinafter, the laser etching device 101 of the laser etching system 100 will be described in detail.
[0039] Figure 5 1 is a schematic diagram showing a laser etching device 101 of a laser etching system 100 according to an embodiment of the present invention and a state in which the laser etching device 101 etches a first active material portion 20a. Figure 6 is shown as Figure 5 Schematic diagram of a laser etching device 101' of a modified example of the laser etching device shown in . The above description may be equally or similarly applied hereinafter. In addition, although the first active material portion 20a is described as an example hereinafter, it is not particularly limited.
[0040] As described above, active material parts 20a, 20b, 20c may be applied to electrode sheet 10, and laser etching device 101 may perform etching on first active material part 20a. Hereinafter, an example in which laser etching device 101 etches first active material part 20a will be described, but is not limited thereto.
[0041] Reference Figure 5 and Figure 6 , the laser etching device 101 may include a laser unit 110. The laser unit 110 may irradiate laser light onto the first active material portion 20a. For example, the laser unit 110 may irradiate laser light onto an edge of the first active material portion 20a to etch the edge of the first active material portion 20a. When the laser light is irradiated onto the first active material portion 20a, foreign matter (e.g., etched active material residue) may be generated due to laser etching. The edge may be a boundary between the first active material portion 20a and the non-coating portion 30.
[0042] The laser etching device 101 may include an air blowing unit 120. The air blowing unit 120 may blow foreign matter generated by etching the first active material portion 20a. For example, the air blowing unit 120 may be disposed above the first active material portion 20a, and may blow air toward the non-coating portion 30 from the upper side of the first active material portion 20a to the foreign matter. In this case, the foreign matter generated by etching may fly to the non-coating portion 30 or the second active material portion 20b located in a direction away from the first active material portion 20a. The air blowing unit 120 may blow air at a blowing angle of 10 to 80 degrees based on the air receiving surface of the two surfaces of the electrode sheet 10. When the air blowing unit 120 blows air at an angle greater than 80 degrees, foreign matter may be blown onto the first active material portion 20a. In addition, when the air blowing unit 120 blows air at an angle less than 10 degrees, the foreign matter may be blown toward the second active material portion 20b before the suction unit 130 described below sucks the foreign matter. In addition, the diffusion prevention effect of the barrier 140 described later will be reduced. The blowing angle of the blowing unit 120 can be an angle that allows the suction unit 130 to effectively inhale foreign matter generated by etching, or an angle that can maximize the diffusion prevention effect of the barrier 140. In addition, the blowing unit 120 can blow air at a blowing pressure of 0.2 to 5.0 bar. For example, when a large amount of foreign matter is generated by performing laser etching (or when the etching range is wide), the blowing unit 120 can increase the blowing pressure. For another example, when a small amount of foreign matter is generated by performing laser etching (or when the etching range is narrow), the blowing unit 120 can reduce the blowing pressure. When the blowing unit 120 increases or decreases the blowing pressure, blowing air at a pressure within the range of 0.2 to 5.0 bar can be effective, and when the blowing pressure is outside this range, blowing may not be performed correctly.
[0043] The blowing unit 120 may be preset to a predetermined blowing angle or blowing pressure according to the type or state of foreign matter generated by etching, and may also be adjusted in real time. However, it may not be limited thereto.
[0044] The laser etching device 101 may include a suction unit 130. The suction unit 130 may inhale foreign matter. The suction unit 130 may be disposed on the opposite side of the air blowing unit 120 across the laser unit 110. The suction unit 130 may be disposed above the non-coating portion 30. For example, in order to effectively inhale foreign matter generated when the laser unit 110 irradiates laser light within the etching range, the suction unit 130 may be disposed between the boundary of the etching range on one side of the non-coating portion 30 and the second active material portion 20b. In other words, the suction unit 130 may be disposed above the non-coating portion 30 between the first active material portion 20a and the second active material portion 20b, but may be disposed on an area outside the etching range. However, it may not be limited thereto. The suction unit 130 may inhale foreign matter generated by laser etching. Since the foreign matter blown by the air blowing unit 120 is inhaled by the suction unit 130, diffusion to the adjacent second active material portion 20b may be prevented. The suction pressure of the suction unit 130 may be preset or adjusted. For example, the suction pressure of the suction unit 130 may be equal to or greater than the blowing pressure of the blowing unit 120 .
[0045] The laser etching device 101 may include a blocking member 140. The blocking member 140 may prevent the diffusion of foreign matter. For example, when the blowing unit 120 blows foreign matter, the blocking member 140 may prevent the foreign matter from diffusing into the second active material portion 20b due to the blowing. The blocking member 140 may extend in a direction perpendicular to the electrode sheet 10 (or the top surface of the electrode sheet 10). For example, as described above, the blocking member 140 may extend in a direction perpendicular to the top surface of the electrode sheet 10 to block the path of the foreign matter flying toward the second active material portion 20b due to the blowing.
[0046] The laser etching device 101 may include at least a laser unit 110, an air blowing unit 120, and a suction unit 130. The laser unit 110, the air blowing unit 120, and the suction unit 130 of the laser etching device 101 may be arranged in a direction intersecting the traveling direction (or moving direction) of the electrode sheet 10. For example, the laser unit 110 may be arranged above the edge of the first active material portion 20a to irradiate the laser to the edge of the first active material portion 20a.
[0047] The air blowing unit 120 may be disposed above the first active material portion 20a to blow foreign matter in a direction from the first active material portion 20a to the second active material portion 20b. In this case, the air blowing unit 120 may be disposed closer to the inner side of the first active material portion 20a than the laser unit 100. In other words, the air blowing unit 120 may be disposed farther from the edge of the first active material portion 20a than the laser unit 110.
[0048] The suction unit 130 may be disposed at an opposite side of the air blowing unit 120 with reference to the laser unit 110. For example, the suction unit 130 may be disposed above the non-coating portion 30 or the second active material portion 20b.
[0049] As described above, when the laser unit 110, the air blowing unit 120, and the suction unit 130 are arranged in a direction (e.g., an orthogonal direction or an oblique direction) intersecting the traveling direction of the electrode sheet 10, it is possible to effectively prevent the foreign matter blown by the air blowing unit 120 from accumulating again on the etching target. For example, it is possible to prevent the foreign matter of the first active material portion 20a blown by the air blowing unit 120 from accumulating again on the first active material portion 20a.
[0050] The laser unit 110, the air blowing unit 120, and the suction unit 130 may be arranged linearly in a direction crossing the traveling direction of the electrode sheet 10. When arranged linearly, the suction unit 130 may effectively suck foreign matter blown by the air blowing unit 120.
[0051] In addition, when the laser etching device 101 further includes a blocking member 140, not only the above effects can be achieved, but also the influence of adjacent active material parts can be prevented. For example, the blocking member 140 can prevent foreign matter of the first active material part 20a blown by the blowing unit 120 from accumulating on the second active material part 20b.
[0052] Reference Figure 6 , a laser etching device 101' as a modified example of the laser etching device 101 may include a blocking member 140'. The blocking member 140' may include a curved portion. The blocking member 140' may include a portion extending in a direction perpendicular to the electrode sheet 10 (or the top surface of the electrode sheet 10), and the blocking member 140' may include a curved portion bent from the end of one side of the electrode sheet 10 toward the non-coating portion 30 or the suction unit 130. When the blocking member 140' includes a curved portion, foreign matter that diffuses in an oblique direction may be blocked. For example, by preventing foreign matter blown by the blowing unit 120 from moving in an oblique direction relative to the second active material portion 20b, the diffusion of foreign matter may be effectively prevented. In addition, when the blocking member 140' includes a curved portion, the blowing path (or airflow) of the blowing unit 120 may be guided. For example, when the blowing unit 120 blows air, by guiding the blowing path of the air so that the airflow is directed toward the suction unit 130, the suction of the suction unit 130 may be more effective.
[0053] Reference Figure 5 and Figure 6The described blocking member 140, 140' may be disposed above another active material portion adjacent to an active material portion that is subjected to etching. For example, the first active material portion 20a is an active material portion etched by the laser unit 110, and the blocking member 140, 140' may be disposed above the second active material portion 20b, which is another active material portion adjacent to the first active material portion 20a across the non-coating portion 30. Specifically, the blocking member 140, 140' may be disposed above the edge of the second active material portion 20b on the side of the non-coating portion 30 to prevent foreign matter from diffusing into the second active material portion 20b. However, without limitation thereto, the blocking member 140, 140' may be disposed above the non-coating portion 30. For example, the blocking member 140, 140' is disposed above the non-coating portion 30, but may be disposed above the non-coating portion 30 on the side of the second active material portion 20b.
[0054] The blocking member 140, 140' may be disposed closer to another active material portion adjacent to one active material portion than to one active material portion on which etching is performed. For example, the first active material portion 20a is one active material portion etched by the laser unit 110, and the second active material portion 20b is another active material portion adjacent to the first active material portion 20a across the non-coating portion 30, and the distance between the first active material portion 20a and each blocking member 140, 140' may be greater than the distance between the second active material portion 20b and each blocking member 140, 140'.
[0055] The blocking members 140, 140' may be disposed closer to the second active material portion 20b than the suction unit 130. For example, the distance between each blocking member 140, 140' and the second active material portion 20b may be smaller than the distance between the suction unit 130 and the second active material portion 20b to prevent foreign matter blown by the blowing unit 120 but not sucked by the suction unit 130 from diffusing into the second active material portion 20b.
[0056] As described above, an electrode can be manufactured by etching the first active material portion 20 a using the laser etching device 101 .
[0057] In the method for manufacturing an electrode, a process of etching the first active material portion 20 a using the laser etching device 101 is described, but it can be equally or similarly applied to a process of etching the second active material portion 20 b using the laser etching device 102 described later.
[0058] The method for manufacturing an electrode may include a process of applying an active material on an electrode sheet 10 to form active material portions 20 a , 20 b and a non-coating portion 30 .
[0059] The method for manufacturing an electrode may include a process of etching a portion of an edge of the first active material portion 20a. The etching process may include: a process of irradiating laser light to a portion of the edge of the first active material portion 20a using the laser unit 110 to etch a portion of the edge of the first active material portion 20a; a process of blowing air toward the non-coating portion 30 using the air blowing unit 120 for foreign matter generated when etching a portion of the edge; and a process of sucking the blown and diffused foreign matter by using the suction unit 130 provided on the opposite side of the air blowing unit 120 across the laser unit 110. The portion of the edge may be a portion of a boundary between the first active material portion 20a and the non-coating portion 30.
[0060] Figure 7 1 is a schematic diagram of a laser etching system 100' according to another embodiment of the present invention. The laser etching system 100' may include laser etching devices 101 and 102. The above description may be equally or similarly applied in the following.
[0061] The laser etching system 100' may include a laser etching device 101 and a laser etching device 102. The laser etching device 101 and the laser etching device 102 may be sequentially arranged along the moving direction (or traveling direction) of the electrode sheet 10. In other words, the laser etching device 101 and the laser etching device 102 may be arranged along the traveling direction (e.g., the direction shown by the arrow) of the electrode sheet 10 and may be spaced apart from each other by a predetermined distance in the traveling direction. In addition, the laser etching device 101 may be arranged adjacent to the first active material portion 20a to perform etching on the first active material portion 20a, and the laser etching device 102 may be arranged adjacent to the second active material portion 20b to perform etching on the second active material portion 20b. The laser etching device 101 may etch the edge of the first active material portion 20a that forms a boundary with the non-coating portion 30, and the laser etching device 102 may etch the edge of the second active material portion 20b that forms a boundary with the non-coating portion 30. In other words, the laser etching device 101 and the laser etching device 102 can be set at a predetermined position to perform etching on the edge of each of the first active material portion 20a and the second active material portion 20b while the electrode sheet 10 moves along the travel direction. The edge can be a boundary between the active material portions 20a, 20b and the non-coating portion 30.
[0062] Figure 8 1 is a view showing a state in which a laser etching device 102 of a laser etching system 100 ′ according to another embodiment of the present invention etches a second active material portion 20 b. The above description may be equally or similarly applied hereinafter.
[0063] Reference Figure 8, the laser etching device 102 may include a laser unit 210, an air blowing unit 220, a suction unit 230, and a blocking member 240, which respectively correspond to the laser unit 110, the air blowing unit 120, the suction unit 130, and the blocking member 140 of the above-mentioned laser etching device 101. Alternatively, in the case of the blocking member 240, although not shown, the blocking member 240 may correspond to the blocking member 140' of the laser etching device 101' as a modified example of the laser etching device 101.
[0064] In order to perform etching on the second active material portion 20b, in the laser etching device 102, the laser unit 210, the air blowing unit 220, the suction unit 230, and the blocking member 240 may be arranged in a direction symmetrical to the laser etching devices 101, 101'. However, for the arrangement positions and operations of the laser unit 210, the air blowing unit 220, the suction unit 230, and the blocking member 240, the same or similar descriptions may be applied.
[0065] Fig. 9 2 is a view showing a heat-affected zone formed at a boundary between an active material portion 20a and a non-coating portion 30 according to various embodiments of the present invention. The above description may be equally or similarly applied hereinafter.
[0066] The electrode may include a first active material portion 20a coated with an active material on the electrode sheet 10 and a non-coating portion 30 to which no active material is applied on the electrode sheet 10. The boundary between the laser-etched first active material portion 20a and the non-coating portion 30 (or the edge of the first active material portion 20a) may form a portion of the electrode. By laser etching, a heat-affected zone (HAZ) 400 may be formed at the boundary between the first active material portion 20a and the non-coating portion 30. The heat-affected zone 400 may have a lower brightness than the non-coating portion 30. In addition, the heat-affected zone 400 may preferably have a width of 200 μm or less. When the electrode is manufactured by forming a heat-affected zone 400 having the above-mentioned width, the influence of laser etching can be minimized, so the quality of the coating and the electrode can be improved.
[0067] While embodiments of the present invention have been described with reference to specific embodiments, it will be apparent to those skilled in the art that various changes and modifications may be made without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as defined in the following claims.
