Abstract
Description
Technical Field
[0001] The present invention relates to the field of small household appliances, and more precisely to ironing devices. Background Art
[0002] In order to iron clothes, an iron is usually used. Due to the limitations of the use of irons (for example, an ironing board is required), portable ironing devices that do not require the aid of an ironing board and are convenient and quick to use have been developed. These devices are generally called "steam ironers" or "steam irons". When clothes are hung on a hanger, the ironing device irons by applying a hot ironing surface to the clothes, combined with the release of steam. The ironing device allows clothes to be ironed under the condition of correct use.
[0003] In practice it has been noticed that the user does not stretch the garment sufficiently and does not press the ironing surface sufficiently against the garment, so that the action of the device is limited. As a result, the garment is not ironed as well as when the device is used correctly. Therefore, ironing devices have been proposed which, in addition to heating the garment and releasing steam, also extract the garment. However, the operation of such devices can be complicated, in particular the control of the device. Moreover, they are not effective on the whole of the fabric piece to be treated. [0048] Device
[0049] It should be noted that in this document, the terms "vertical", "lower", "upper", "front" and "rear" used to describe the ironing device refer to the device when it is lying flat on its base.
[0050] Figure 1 An ironing device 1 is shown with a portable housing 10, comprising a handle 4 on which an ironing head 2 is arranged, the ironing head 2 comprising a treatment surface 20 facing the piece of fabric to be ironed. The side of the portable housing 10 on which the treatment surface 20 is arranged corresponds to the front of the portable housing 10.
[0051] The ironing device is characterized in that it also comprises a base 6 in extension of the handle 4 on the opposite side of the ironing head 2 .
[0052] Reference Figure 2 The portable housing 10 further comprises an air suction circuit, which comprises a fan 21, which is driven to rotate by a motor 23. The fan 21 and the motor 23 are preferably arranged in the ironing head 2.
[0053] The portable housing 10 also has a steam circuit comprising a steam generator 61. Such a steam generator 61 is preferably arranged in the base 6.
[0054] The steam circuit is adapted to allow steam to be exhausted at the treatment surface 20 , and the air extraction circuit is adapted to allow air to be extracted at the treatment surface 20 .
[0055] Preferably, the portable housing is made of plastic material. For example, the portable housing can be made of polypropylene or polycarbonate.
[0056] As the name implies, the housing is portable. It is therefore designed to be carried by an individual and the device is designed to be manipulated with one hand, in particular by being held by the handle 4.
[0057] Furthermore, the handle 4 is designed to accommodate a cable, for example for supplying power to the motor 23 .
[0058] The handle 4 preferably has a mass of approximately 50 grams.
[0059] The base 6 includes a flat outer surface 60 for Figure 3 The so-called rest position shown places the device on a substantially flat surface S. This surface 60 is preferably the distal surface of the base 6 .
[0060] When the device 1 is in its rest position, the longitudinal axis P of the handle 4 (eg Figure 3 Specifically, the portable housing 10 is configured such that the longitudinal axis P forms a non-zero angle, such as about 15°, with an axis perpendicular to the outer surface 60 (corresponding to the parking surface S of the device).
[0061] According to another embodiment, the longitudinal axis P of the handle 4 is perpendicular to the outer surface 60 .
[0062] Preferably, the base 6 has a rear face provided with a button allowing the device to be powered on.
[0063] Preferably, the base 6 also comprises a power cord allowing it to be connected to the domestic electrical network. The cord may be detachable.
[0064] The electric wire has a length preferably greater than 200 cm. When the user brings the device 1 to a height of about 1.5 meters above the ground, the mass of the electric wire is preferably about 150 grams.
[0065] According to an embodiment not shown, the ironing device 1 does not comprise a base 6. Thus, a power button may be provided, for example, on the portable housing 10, more precisely on the ironing head 2. Similarly, an electrical wire may be connected to the portable housing 10, more precisely to the ironing head 2.
[0066] The ironing device 1 preferably comprises a steam generator 61 forming part of a steam circuit. The steam generator 61 is adapted to generate steam from a liquid from a reservoir 62. The steam generator 61 defines a cavity for receiving the liquid and preferably comprises at least one shielded heating element 65 allowing the liquid from the reservoir 62 to be heated in the cavity. The steam generator 61 is preferably connected to a conduit 41 of the steam circuit, which is arranged to allow steam to flow from the steam generator 61 to the ironing head 2.
[0067] The steam generator 61 is usually made of a metal body (such as aluminum) and preferably has a mass greater than 250 grams. This mass usually includes the mass of the aluminum structure, the shielding heating element 65, the electrical safety and thermal regulation elements, and the mass of the concentrator preferably included in the steam generator 61.
[0068] The reservoir 62 is preferably included in the portable housing 10 and arranged in the base 6. According to an embodiment not shown, the reservoir 62 is removable.
[0069] according to Figure 2 In the illustrated embodiment, the reservoir 62 is disposed at the front of the portable housing 10 , or more specifically at the front of the base 6 .
[0070] The reservoir 62 preferably comprises a transparent envelope defining the outer wall of the reservoir 62, the transparent envelope being provided with a removable plug 620 allowing filling of the reservoir. The reservoir 62 is suitable for containing a liquid, typically water or a liquid solution diluted in water.
[0071] The reservoir 62 preferably has a capacity of about 100 mL. When empty, the reservoir preferably has a mass of about 50 grams. For example, when the reservoir 62 contains about 100 g of water and is therefore 100% filled, it has a mass of about 150 g.
[0072] It is also preferred that the steam circuit comprises a pump 63 arranged to cause the liquid to flow from the reservoir 62 to the steam generator 61 , and that the pump 63 is advantageously arranged in the base 6 .
[0073] The pump 63 preferably has a mass of approximately 50 g.
[0074] according to Figure 2 In one possible embodiment shown, the steam generator 61 , the liquid reservoir 62 and the pump 63 are included in the portable housing 10 , more precisely in the base 6 .
[0075] According to another embodiment not shown, the steam generator 61, the reservoir 62 and the pump 63 are not included in the portable housing 10, but in a base offset relative to the portable housing 10. The base is preferably connected to the portable housing 10 by a flexible conduit that allows the steam to flow from the steam generator 61 to the ironing head 2.
[0076] The ironing head 2 is connected to the upper end of the handle 4, and the base 6 is connected to the lower end of the handle 4 opposite to the upper end. Figure 1 In the illustrated embodiment, the lower portion of the handle 4 has a flared shape, the cross section of which gradually increases as it approaches the base 6 .
[0077] The ironing head 2 comprises a front end provided with a treatment surface 20 facing the piece of fabric to be ironed. The treatment surface 20 preferably comprises a treatment plate 200, preferably made of metal, for example of aluminium.
[0078] The treatment plate 200 may be, for example, a heating plate 200 for improving ironing, as described below. Such a heating plate 200 may be heated by one or more heating elements 26 arranged in the ironing head close to the treatment surface 20.
[0079] The treatment face 20 comprises at least one steam outlet opening 24 connected to a steam circuit and at least one suction opening 22 connected to an air suction circuit.
[0080] The treatment surface 20 may have different shapes, such as rectangular or triangular. Preferably, it comprises a plurality of steam outlet holes 24 and a plurality of suction holes 22.
[0081] The various steam outlet openings and suction openings may be in the form of holes or slits. Figure 1 In the example shown, the steam outlet openings 24 are in the form of holes and the suction openings 22 are in the form of slots.
[0082] Advantageously, a secondary steam generator 25 is arranged in the ironing head 2. The secondary steam generator 25 forms part of the steam circuit. The secondary steam generator 25 is preferably connected to the conduit 41. In fact, the secondary steam generator 25 allows the liquid from the steam generator 61 (called "primary steam generator"), which has already flowed in the conduit 41, to evaporate again. In fact, when the steam flows in the conduit 41, the steam can be cooled to the extent that a part of the steam condenses. Therefore, the steam condensate flows to the secondary steam generator 25. The secondary steam generator 25 preferably allows evaporation of these condensates so that no liquid is discharged via the steam outlet hole 24. It is particularly advantageous to avoid liquid discharge via the steam outlet hole 24, because this will make the processed fabric piece wet and not allow it to be well ironed. In order to evaporate the condensate, the secondary steam generator 25 preferably includes at least one PTC thermistor or a heating element 26 of the shielded heating element type. The secondary steam generator 25 can also be called an "evaporator" because it allows the steam generated by the steam generator 61 to be heated again.
[0083] Preferably, the shielded heating element 26 of the secondary steam generator 25 is in thermal contact with the treatment surface 20. Thus, the treatment surface 20, more precisely the heating plate 200, can be heated by one or more heating elements 26 of the secondary steam generator 25, which allows more effective ironing when the treatment surface 20 is arranged facing the fabric piece.
[0084] According to an embodiment not shown, the silicone component is placed between the heating element 26 of the secondary steam generator 25 and the treatment surface 20 so that the temperature of the treatment surface 20 does not exceed a certain temperature threshold, typically 150°C.
[0085] The secondary steam generator 25 is generally made of a metal body, such as aluminum.
[0086] The secondary steam generator 25 also preferably includes electrical safety and thermal regulation elements.
[0087] Therefore, the assembly including the treatment surface 20 and the secondary steam generator 25 preferably has a mass of about 100 g.
[0088] The ironing head 2 comprises a motor 23 forming part of the air suction circuit. Preferably, the motor 23 is arranged inside the ironing head 2 in the axial extension of the treatment surface 20. The motor 23 is arranged along Figure 3 A longitudinal axis M is shown extending.
[0089] according to Figure 3 The ironing head 2 has an elongated shape extending transversely to the handle 4, preferably forming an angle α of about 65° with respect to the longitudinal axis P of the handle. Preferably, the handle 4 extends along an axis passing through at least a part of the motor 23. The axes P and M advantageously intersect.
[0090] The motor 23 is adapted to drive the fan 21 to rotate. The fan 21 constituting a part of the air suction circuit allows air to be sucked from the air suction holes 22.
[0091] The assembly comprising the motor 23 and the fan 21 preferably has a mass of approximately 300 grams.
[0092] Preferably, the air suction circuit is configured to allow more than 10m 3 / h and less than 60m 3 The air suction flow rate is preferably greater than 20 m / h. 3 / h and less than 50m 3 / h air suction flow rate.
[0093] The device 1 preferably comprises control means 8 configured to control steam discharge and air extraction. These control means 8 are preferably arranged to be actuated by a user's hand for carrying the portable housing of the ironing device.
[0094] Thus, the control device 8 allows controlling the steam discharge through the steam outlet holes 24 and the air suction through the suction holes 22. The control device 8 is configured to allow only steam discharge according to a first operating mode of the device 1, and to allow steam discharge combined with air suction according to a second operating mode of the device 1. Preferably, the control device 8 is arranged on the handle 4 of the device 1.
[0095] according to Figures 4 to 7 In the embodiment shown, the control device 8 comprises a button 8 including a pressing head 81. The pressing head 81 has an outer surface adapted to allow a user to press the pressing head 81 and thereby push it in. Preferably, the button 8 comprises a reset device 83 connected to the pressing head and adapted to allow the pressing head 81 to be placed in a released position when no user holds the pressing head 81 in the pushed-in position. The released position of the pressing head 81 is as shown in FIG. Figure 7 As shown, and corresponds to the position where the pressing head 81 is not pushed in.
[0096] The button 8 is configured to allow only steam discharge when the push head 81 is pushed in on a first push stroke, and to allow steam discharge combined with air suction when the push head is pushed in on a second push stroke. Preferably, the second push stroke exceeds the first push stroke. Therefore, the user only needs to push the button 8 more or less to control the first or second operating mode.
[0097] Advantageously, see Figure 4 and Figure 5, the button 8 includes a steam discharge switch 85, which includes a first contactor 87 and a second contactor (not visible), which are suitable for activating steam discharge when they come into contact. The button 8 also includes a suction switch 86, which includes a third contactor 88 and a fourth contactor, which are suitable for activating air suction when they come into contact. The pressing head 81 has a contact device 89, which is suitable for allowing contact between the first contactor 87 and the second contactor when the pressing head 81 is pushed in on the first push stroke, and allowing contact between the third contactor 88 and the fourth contactor when the pressing head is pushed in on the second push stroke. In short, when the pressing head 81 is pushed in on the first push stroke, the first and second contactors come into contact. Therefore, the device 1 operates in the first operating mode, that is, only steam discharge is controlled. When the pressing head 81 is pushed in on the second push stroke, the third and fourth contactors come into contact. Therefore, the device 1 operates in the second operating mode, that is, steam discharge and air suction are controlled in combination.
[0098] More precisely, regarding a possible configuration of the button 8, the pressing head 81 has an inner surface 82 opposite to the outer surface, and the contact means 89 protrudes from the inner surface 82. Figure 5 , causing the contact device 89 to include a first portion 890 including a first surface facing the first contactor 87 and a second portion 891 including a second surface facing the third contactor 88. Preferably, each of the first surface and the second surface is inclined so that when the pressing head 81 is pushed in on the first pushing stroke, the first contactor 87 is held in the pushed position by the first portion 890 so as to contact the second contactor, and when the pressing head 81 is pushed in on the second pushing stroke, the third contactor 88 is held in the pushed position by the second portion 891 so as to contact the fourth contactor.
[0099] According to an embodiment not shown, the control device 8 comprises a first actuator configured to activate only steam discharge and a second actuator configured to activate only air suction. By activating both actuators simultaneously, the user can control air suction while steam discharge is in progress.
[0100] The control device 8 may also include a third actuator configured to activate steam discharge in combination with air suction and a fourth actuator configured to stop air suction.
[0101] How to use the ironing device
[0102] The operation of the device will now be described.
[0103] When the user wishes to use the device, he fills the reservoir 62 with liquid (preferably water) and then starts the device 1 by pressing a button to power it on. It is assumed that the device has previously been connected to the household power grid by electrical wires. The heating elements of the primary steam generator 61 and the secondary steam generator 25 are then powered to reach their operating temperature, which is advantageously regulated by a thermostat.
[0104] When the user wishes to use the device in the vertical ironing position, he places the treatment surface 20 vertically against the piece of fabric to be ironed and then presses the control device 8 (preferably a button here), which has the effect of running the pump 63 and allowing liquid to flow from the reservoir 62 to the primary steam generator 61.
[0105] The steam generated in the primary steam generator 61 then escapes through the duct 4 towards a possible secondary steam generator 25 and then through the steam outlet holes 24. The steam then diffuses onto the fabric piece, which, combined with the heating and drying action of the treatment plate 200, allows it to be ironed.
[0106] The control device 8 is designed to activate air suction combined with steam discharge. For example, pressing the control device 8 can allow the motor 23 to be powered, so that the motor 23 starts running. As a result, the fan 21 is driven in rotation and air is sucked in through the suction holes 22. The suction allows in particular to press the piece of fabric against the treatment surface 20. Thus, the steam discharge combined with the suction allows to optimize the ironing. In addition, the air suction also allows to promote the drying of the part of the piece of fabric that has just been subjected to steam. It has been found that this particular method allows to maintain the ironing effect for a longer time over time after the treatment of the piece of fabric.
[0107] As described in more detail below, the control device 8 allows the user to control the suction in a manner independent of the control of the steam emission. Thus, the user can control the steam emission alone or in combination with the suction.
[0108] During treatment, the user may move the device 1 in a vertical direction, for example from top to bottom, to treat all or part of the fabric piece.
[0109] The device 1 may also be used occasionally in a horizontal ironing position, for example to iron a piece of fabric lying horizontally on a table, by positioning the treatment surface 20 horizontally above the piece of fabric.
[0110] See also Figure 8 , a specific method for ironing a piece of fabric to be ironed is proposed, implemented by an ironing device 1 as described above.
[0111] The method comprises an in-position phase a) consisting in placing the treatment surface 20 facing the fabric sheet.
[0112] After positioning the treatment surface 20 facing the fabric piece, there follows a treatment phase b) implemented by the treatment surface 20. Phase b) comprises a steam release step without air extraction and at least one steam release step combined with air extraction. According to a particular embodiment, phase b) comprises at least the following sequence of successive steps:
[0113] b10) Steam discharge without air extraction;
[0114] b20) Steam exhaust combined with air extraction.
[0115] More preferably, the treatment stage b) further comprises a steam discharge step b30) after step b20).
[0116] According to another embodiment, phase b) comprises at least the following sequence of consecutive steps:
[0117] b10) Steam exhaust combined with air extraction;
[0118] b20) Steam exhaust without air extraction.
[0119] The combination of steam discharge and air extraction allows to optimize ironing. In fact, due to the suction of air, the piece of fabric is pressed against the treatment surface 20, so that the piece of fabric is effectively ironed. In addition, air extraction also allows to promote the drying of the part of the piece of fabric that has just been subjected to steam. It has been found that this particular method allows to maintain the ironing effect longer over time after the treatment of the piece of fabric.
[0120] However, it is desirable to be able to stop air suction and use only steam exhaust, especially in certain situations where air suction is not needed. For example, when the treatment surface 20 faces a button sewn on a piece of fabric, it may be preferable not to activate air suction so as not to suction the button and potentially detach it. Similarly, when the treatment surface 20 reaches the edge of a pocket opening of a garment, it may be preferable not to activate air suction so that the treatment plate 200 does not get stuck in the pocket opening.
[0121] Finally, the method comprises a stop phase c), which comprises at least one suction stop step and a steam emission stop step. According to a preferred embodiment, the stop phase c) comprises the following sequence of successive steps:
[0122] c1) cessation of suction;
[0123] c2) Stopping of steam emission.
[0124] For this purpose, for example, the control device 8 takes Figures 4 to 7In the case of the button form shown, the user partially releases the pressing head 81 of the button 8, so that the pressing head 81 is pushed in only on the first pushing stroke. Then the suction stops. Then, the user completely releases the pressing head 81, thereby stopping the steam discharge.
[0125] The invention is not limited to the embodiments described and shown in the drawings. Modifications are still possible without departing from the general teaching, in particular in the composition of the various technical features, or by substitution by technical equivalents.
