[0018] (The process of realizing this disclosure)

[0019] As disclosed in Patent Document 1, in an electronic device including a panel and a housing for holding the panel, adhesives and double-sided tapes are considered as means for bonding the panel and the housing.

[0020] In the electronic device disclosed in Patent Document 1, a double-sided tape is attached to a partial region of a housing, and an adhesive is applied to a region different from the partial region of the housing. A panel is attached to the double-sided tape and the adhesive.

[0021] When the panel is mounted on the housing by an adhesive, there is a concern that the panel may be damaged when it is separated from the housing for repair, etc. In other words, when the panel is mounted on the housing by an adhesive, it is difficult to separate the panel from the housing without damaging it.

[0022] When the panel is mounted on the housing by double-sided tape, it is easy to separate the panel from the housing without damaging it. However, the adhesive force of the double-sided tape is weaker than that of the adhesive. Therefore, it is beneficial that the attachment area of the double-sided tape when the panel is mounted on the housing by double-sided tape is larger than the coating area of the adhesive when the panel is mounted on the housing by the adhesive. For example, while maintaining the size of the panel and ensuring the attachment area of the double-sided tape, it is considered to bring the inner side of the housing closer to the inside so that the opening of the annular housing becomes smaller. In this case, the configuration space of the liquid crystal unit surrounded by the housing becomes smaller. On the other hand, while maintaining the size of the configuration space of the liquid crystal unit, that is, while maintaining the size of the opening of the annular housing, it is considered to bring the outer side of the housing closer to the outside. In this case, the outer side of the panel joined to the housing will also be closer to the outside. Therefore, the housing and the panel will be enlarged.

[0023] To this end, the present inventors have found that the above-mentioned problem can be solved by arranging a sheet between the panel and the shell, joining the panel and the sheet with a double-sided tape, and joining the shell and the sheet with an adhesive. In other words, the present inventors have found that the possibility of damage to the panel when separating the panel from the shell can be reduced while taking into account the suppression of the enlargement of the panel and the shell and the suppression of the reduction of the bonding strength between the panel and the shell, and the following disclosure has been achieved.

[0024] (Implementation Method)

[0025] [Overall structure]

[0026] Figure 1 This is a perspective view of an example of an electronic device according to an embodiment of the present disclosure as viewed from the front. The X, Y, and Z directions in the figure respectively represent the width direction (long side direction of the first housing 2), the depth direction (short side direction of the first housing 2), and the height direction (thickness direction of the first housing 2) of the first housing 2. The X, Y, and Z directions are orthogonal to each other.

[0027] like Figure 1 As shown, the electronic device 1 is a notebook personal computer (laptop PC). The electronic device 1 includes a first housing 2 and a second housing 3. The first housing 2 and the second housing 3 each have a thin box-shaped outer shell and have a rectangular shape when viewed from the top side.

[0028] The first housing 2 accommodates the keyboard 4 and the touch pad 5. In other words, the keyboard 4 and the touch pad 5 are arranged in the first housing 2. The second housing 3 accommodates the touch panel 6 and Figure 3 In other words, the touch panel 6 and the liquid crystal unit 8 are arranged in the second housing 3. The touch panel 6 is an example of a panel. The liquid crystal unit 8 is an example of a display unit. In this specification, the keyboard 4 and the touch pad 5 are sometimes referred to as input units 4 and 5.

[0029] The first shell 2 and the second shell 3 are connected via a hinge 7. The hinge 7 is provided at the end of the first shell 2 in the depth direction (Y direction). The hinge 7 connects the first shell 2 and the second shell 3 so that they can rotate with each other around a rotation axis parallel to the X direction. By rotating at least one of the first shell 2 and the second shell 3 through the hinge 7, the electronic device 1 can be opened and closed. Specifically, the electronic device 1 can be set to an open state and a closed state through the hinge 7. The so-called "open state" refers to a state in which the first shell 2 and the second shell 3 are separated from each other, and the input parts 4, 5 and the touch panel 6 are exposed. The so-called "closed state" refers to a state in which the first shell 2 and the second shell 3 are arranged opposite to each other in the Z direction, the input parts 4, 5 and the touch panel 6 are facing each other, and the input parts 4, 5 and the touch panel 6 are not exposed.

[0030] Figure 2 This is a perspective view of an example of an electronic device according to an embodiment of the present disclosure as viewed from the rear. Figure 1 as well as Figure 2 As shown, the second housing 3 includes an annular housing 31 and a plate-shaped housing 32. The annular housing 31 is an example of a housing. The annular housing 31 is supported by the plate-shaped housing 32. The annular housing 31 is arranged along the outer edge of the plate-shaped housing 32. As a result, the second housing 3 has a concave shape except for the portion where the annular housing 31 is arranged. In the concave portion of the second housing 3, the liquid crystal unit 8 and the touch panel 6 described later are arranged.

[0031] Figure 3 This is an exploded perspective view of the annular housing, touch panel, and liquid crystal unit. Figure 4 It is a three-dimensional diagram of a touch panel. Figure 5 It is the front view of the annular shell. Figure 6 yes Figure 5 An enlarged view of the portion surrounded by dotted line VI. Figure 7 It is a front view of the annular housing and the touch panel.

[0032] Hereinafter, the structures of the liquid crystal unit 8 , the touch panel 6 , and the annular housing 31 will be described, and bonding of the touch panel 6 and the annular housing 31 will be described. Figure 3 The L, S, and T directions in the following figures respectively represent the width direction (long side direction of the second shell 3), the depth direction (short side direction of the second shell 3), and the height direction (thickness direction of the second shell 3) of the annular shell 31. The L, S, and T directions are orthogonal to each other. In the aforementioned "closed state", the L direction is parallel to the X direction, the S direction is parallel to the Y direction, and the T direction is parallel to the Z direction. In the aforementioned "open state", the L direction is parallel to the X direction, but the S and T directions are not parallel to the Y and Z directions, respectively. The T direction is an example of an orthogonal direction.

[0033] like Figure 3 As shown, the liquid crystal unit 8 is a device for displaying images through liquid crystal. The liquid crystal unit 8 displays images of various colors and shapes. In this embodiment, the liquid crystal unit 8 is a quadrangular shape when viewed from the T direction. Since the structure of the liquid crystal unit 8 is well known, further detailed description is omitted here.

[0034] like Figure 3 as well as Figure 4 As shown, the touch panel 6 has a front surface 6A and a back surface 6B. The back surface 6B is the back of the front surface 6A. The front surface 6A and the back surface 6B extend along the S direction and the L direction, and are orthogonal to the T direction. In this embodiment, the touch panel 6 is a quadrangle when viewed from the T direction.

[0035] The liquid crystal cell 8 is arranged opposite to the back surface 6B of the touch panel 6 in the T direction. That is, the liquid crystal cell 8 is located on the back surface 6B side of the touch panel 6. The touch panel 6 is light-transmissive. Therefore, the image displayed by the liquid crystal cell 8 is displayed to the outside of the electronic device 1 via the touch panel 6.

[0036] The touch panel 6 detects the user's touch operation. Each touch position of the touch panel 6 is associated with each function of the electronic device 1. The touch panel 6 detects the touch position based on the user based on changes in pressure, electrostatic capacitance, etc. The detected touch position is sent from the touch panel 6 to the control unit (not shown) of the electronic device 1. The control unit executes a function corresponding to the touch position. Each image displayed by the liquid crystal unit 8 corresponds to a different touch position of the touch panel 6. Therefore, by referring to the image displayed by the liquid crystal unit 8 via the touch panel 6, the user can know the action performed when the touch panel 6 at the position where the image is displayed is touched.

[0037] like Figure 3 As shown in FIG. 1 , when viewed from the T direction, the annular housing 31 is in the shape of a square ring. Figure 5 as well as Figure 6 As shown in FIG. 1 , the annular housing 31 includes four apex portions 31A including the apex portions of the four corners and four side portions 31B including the sides of the four corners. The four side portions 31B respectively connect two adjacent apex portions 31A.

[0038] like Figure 7 As shown, in the state where the touch panel 6 is bonded to the annular housing 31, the annular housing 31 surrounds the touch panel 6 when viewed from the T direction. The liquid crystal cell 8 is arranged in the internal space formed between the touch panel 6 and the plate-shaped housing 32. When viewed from the T direction, the annular housing 31 surrounds the liquid crystal cell 8.

[0039] Figure 8 Use the VIII-VIII line to Figure 7 A cross-sectional view of a cutaway annular casing. Fig. 9 yes Figure 8 The enlarged view of the portion surrounded by the dotted line IX. Fig. 9 As shown, the annular housing 31 includes a support portion 311 and a protrusion 312. The support portion 311 and the protrusion 312 are respectively provided across both the vertex portion 31A and the side portion 31B. That is, when viewed from the T direction, the support portion 311 and the protrusion 312 are respectively in a square ring shape.

[0040] The support portion 311 is located at a position overlapping with the liquid crystal cell 8 in the T direction. In other words, the position of the support portion 311 in the T direction overlaps with the position of the liquid crystal cell 8 in the T direction. In other words, the same virtual plane extending in the L direction and the S direction intersects the support portion 311 and the liquid crystal cell 8. When viewed from the T direction, the support portion 311 surrounds the liquid crystal cell 8 with the gap G1 therebetween.

[0041] The support portion 311 is located on the back surface 6B side of the touch panel 6. The inner portion of the square ring-shaped support portion 311 as viewed in the T direction is aligned with the outer edge portion 6Ba (see FIG. 1 ) of the back surface 6B of the touch panel 6 in the T direction. Figure 4 ) and are arranged along the outer edge portion 6Ba. The outer portion of the square ring-shaped support portion 311 as viewed in the T direction is located further outward than the touch panel 6 as viewed in the T direction.

[0042] The protrusion 312 protrudes in the T direction from the outer portion of the square ring-shaped support portion 311 as viewed in the T direction. The protrusion 312 protrudes in the T direction from the surface 311A on the touch panel 6 side of the support portion 311. That is, the protrusion 312 is formed in a portion of the surface 311A that is located outside the touch panel 6 as viewed in the T direction. On the other hand, a portion of the surface 311A that is not located outside the touch panel 6 as viewed in the T direction faces the outer edge portion 6Ba of the back surface 6B of the touch panel 6 in the T direction.

[0043] The protrusion 312 surrounds the touch panel 6 via a gap G2 when viewed from the T direction. Here, in this embodiment, the gap G1 between the liquid crystal cell 8 and the support portion 311 is larger than the gap G2 between the touch panel 6 and the protrusion 312 .

[0044] Next, bonding of the touch panel 6 and the annular housing 31 will be described.

[0045] like Fig. 9 As shown, the annular housing 31 supports the touch panel 6 via the sheet 91 and is bonded to the touch panel 6 via the sheet 91. In the T direction, the sheet 91 is located between the annular housing 31 and the outer edge 6Ba of the back surface 6B of the touch panel 6. The sheet 91 is made of resin.

[0046] When viewed from the T direction, the sheet 91 extends to a position further inside than the annular housing 31. That is, when viewed from the T direction, a portion of the sheet 91 is located at a position overlapping with the support portion 311 of the annular housing 31, while the portion other than the portion of the sheet 91 is located at the gap G1 between the liquid crystal cell 8 and the support portion 311. The portion other than the portion of the sheet 91 is an extended portion of the sheet 91 extending to a position further inside than the annular housing 31.

[0047] The sheet 91 is attached to the outer edge 6Ba (see FIG. 1 ) of the back surface 6B of the touch panel 6 via the double-sided tape 92. Figure 4 The double-sided tape 92 is affixed across both the portion of the sheet 91 located between the annular housing 31 and the outer edge 6Ba of the back surface 6B of the touch panel 6 and the extending portion of the sheet 91 located in the gap G1.

[0048] In this embodiment, the thickness of the double-sided tape 92 is thicker than the thickness of the sheet 91. In other words, the length of the double-sided tape 92 in the T direction is longer than the length of the sheet 91 in the T direction. The double-sided tape 92 can be any known double-sided tape as long as it can bond the touch panel 6 and the sheet 91.

[0049] The sheet 91 is bonded to the surface 311A of the support portion 311 of the annular housing 31 via the adhesive 93. The adhesive 93 is applied to a portion of the sheet 91 that faces the annular housing 31 in the T direction.

[0050] The thickness of the adhesive 93 is arbitrary, but in this embodiment, the adhesive 93 is thinner than the double-sided tape 92. The adhesive 93 can be any known adhesive as long as it can bond the annular housing 31 and the sheet 91. In this embodiment, hot melt adhesive is used as the adhesive 93.

[0051] The sheet 91 is arranged along the side 31B ( Figure 5 Reference) is joined to the annular housing 31. Thus, when viewed from the T direction, the sheet 91 is a quadrangular shape.

[0052] like Figure 5 As shown, the double-sided tape 92 is affixed to the sheet 91 which is a quadrilateral when viewed from the T direction. The double-sided tape 92 is affixed to the sheet 91 along the four sides 31B, respectively. In this embodiment, four double-sided tapes 92 are affixed to the sheet 91. The four double-sided tapes 92 are affixed to the sheet 91 along each of the four sides 31B, respectively. The four double-sided tapes 92 extend to the vertex 31A connected to the two ends of the side 31B, respectively. That is, the two double-sided tapes 92 affixed to the sheet 91 along two adjacent sides 31B extend to the vertex 31A located between each of the two adjacent sides 31B. As Figure 6 As shown, a gap G3 is formed between two double-sided tapes 92 at the apex portion 31A.

[0053] In addition, in this embodiment, in two apex portions 31A among the four apex portions 31A, a gap G3 is formed between the two double-sided tapes 92. On the other hand, in the remaining two apex portions 31A among the four apex portions 31A, no gap G3 is formed between the two double-sided tapes 92. However, the number of gaps G3 is not limited to two. For example, the gap G3 may be formed between the two double-sided tapes 92 in all four apex portions 31A.

[0054] [Effect]

[0055] According to the electronic device 1 of this embodiment, the following effects can be achieved.

[0056] According to this embodiment, the annular housing 31 and the sheet 91 are joined via the adhesive 93 having a stronger joining strength than the double-sided tape 92. Compared with the attachment area of the double-sided tape 92 on the annular housing 31 in the structure in which the annular housing 31 and the sheet 91 are joined via the double-sided tape 92, the application area of the adhesive 93 on the annular housing 31 can be reduced while maintaining the joining strength between the annular housing 31 and the sheet 91. Therefore, it is possible to suppress a reduction in the joining strength between the annular housing 31 and the sheet 91 while suppressing an increase in the size of the annular housing 31.

[0057] In addition, according to this embodiment, the outer edge portion 6Ba of the back side 6B of the touch panel 6 and the sheet 91 are bonded via the double-sided tape 92, and the sheet 91 extends to a position further inside than the annular shell 31 when viewed from the T direction. Therefore, compared with a structure in which the sheet 91 does not extend further inside than the annular shell 31 when viewed from the T direction, the attachment area of the double-sided tape 92 on the back side 6B of the touch panel 6 can be increased. As a result, it is possible to suppress a reduction in the bonding strength between the touch panel 6 and the sheet 91. Here, as described above, since the annular shell 31 and the sheet 91 are bonded via the adhesive 93, it is possible to suppress a reduction in the bonding strength between the annular shell 31 and the sheet 91. In other words, it is possible to suppress a reduction in the bonding strength between the touch panel 6 and the annular shell 31 bonded via the sheet 91.

[0058] According to this embodiment, the touch panel 6 and the sheet 91 are bonded via the double-sided tape 92. Therefore, when the touch panel 6 is separated from the sheet 91, that is, when the touch panel 6 is separated from the annular housing 31, the possibility of damage to the touch panel 6 can be reduced.

[0059] According to this embodiment, the length of the double-sided tape 92 in the T direction is longer than the length of the sheet 91 in the T direction. Therefore, since the thickness of the double-sided tape 92 is increased compared to a structure in which the length of the double-sided tape 92 in the T direction is less than the length of the sheet 91 in the T direction, the bonding strength between the touch panel 6 and the sheet 91 can be enhanced.

[0060] Generally, in order to prevent the liquid crystal unit 8 from being displaced and colliding with the annular housing 31 due to the drop of the electronic device 1, a gap G1 is formed between the liquid crystal unit 8 and the annular housing 31. According to this embodiment, the gap G1 between the liquid crystal unit 8 and the annular housing 31 can be used as a space for arranging the sheet 91 extending to a position further inside than the annular housing 31.

[0061] According to this embodiment, the gap G1 between the liquid crystal unit 8 and the support portion 311 is larger than the gap G2 between the touch panel 6 and the protrusion 312. Therefore, compared with a structure in which the gap G1 is less than the gap G2, the possibility of the liquid crystal unit 8 colliding with the annular housing 31 due to positional deviation caused by the drop of the electronic device 1 can be further reduced. In addition, compared with a structure in which the gap G1 is less than the gap G2, the configuration space of the sheet 91 at the gap G1 can be further increased. As a result, the attachment area of the double-sided tape 92 on the back surface 6B of the touch panel 6 can be increased. As a result, the reduction in the bonding strength between the touch panel 6 and the sheet 91 can be suppressed.

[0062] It is easier to peel the touch panel 6 from the sheet 91 by applying force to the portion where the double-sided tape 92 is not attached than to peel the touch panel 6 from the sheet 91 by applying force to the portion where the double-sided tape 92 is attached. In addition, when the annular housing 31 is a square ring, it is easier for the user to apply force to the vertex 31A of the annular housing than to apply force to the side 31B of the annular housing 31.

[0063] According to this embodiment, a gap G3 is formed between two double-sided tapes 92 respectively attached to the sheet 91 along two adjacent sides 31B at the vertex 31A of the annular housing 31. Therefore, by applying force to the vertex 31A of the annular housing 31 to which force is easily applied, force can be applied to the portion of the gap G3 to which the double-sided tape 92 is not attached. As a result, the touch panel 6 can be easily peeled off from the sheet 91.

[0064] In this embodiment, an example in which the electronic device 1 includes a touch panel 6, that is, an example in which the touch panel 6 is equivalent to a panel is described, but the present invention is not limited thereto. The panel can be any member that displays the image displayed by the liquid crystal unit 8 toward the outside of the electronic device 1. For example, in the electronic device 1, a light-transmitting glass cover can be provided as a panel instead of the touch panel 6. In this case, the electronic device 1 does not have a touch panel function.

[0065] In this embodiment, an example in which the electronic device 1 includes a liquid crystal unit 8, that is, an example in which the liquid crystal unit 8 is equivalent to a display unit is described, but the present invention is not limited thereto. The display unit can be any component that displays an image. For example, in the electronic device 1, a unit that displays an image by organic EL, in other words, organic electro-luminescence (OEL), may be provided as a display unit instead of the liquid crystal unit 8.

[0066] In this embodiment, an example in which the sheet material 91 is made of resin is described, but the present invention is not limited thereto. For example, the sheet material 91 may be made of metal.

[0067] In this embodiment, the example in which the liquid crystal unit 8 and the touch panel 6 are quadrilateral when viewed from the T direction is described, but it is not necessary to be a complete quadrilateral. In addition, in this embodiment, the example in which the annular housing 31 is quadrilaterally annular when viewed from the T direction is described, but it is not necessary to be a complete quadrilaterally annular. For example, a shape in which the four corners of the annular housing 31 viewed from the T direction are chamfered (C chamfered or R chamfered), and a shape in which a protrusion protruding in the S direction and the L direction is formed on a part of the side 31B of the annular housing 31 are also included in the "quadrilateral annular shape" of the annular housing 31. The same applies to the "quadrilateral shape" of the liquid crystal unit 8 and the touch panel 6.
