[0030] One or more methods or techniques for allowing a user to apply a care formulation to human hair and scalp tissue are described. The following description provides representative examples that generally relate to delivery systems, devices, and formulation cartridges for use with the devices for hair and scalp care. In embodiments, it is beneficial to apply a care formulation to a targeted portion of the hair or scalp tissue. In embodiments, it is desirable to apply a care formulation to a portion of the hair that is close to the scalp, for example, when applying a dye to the roots of the hair during a color maintenance process, it is desirable to apply a care formulation to a portion of the hair that is close to the scalp. In another example, a method entails applying a scalp care formulation directly to the scalp tissue while minimizing contact with the hair.
[0031] Existing systems for applying hair and scalp care formulations are widely used. In one example, hair dye kits are often used to change the appearance of hair color or to blend gray hair, among other uses. Existing hair dye systems have several disadvantages, including being difficult to use, time consuming, uneven coverage, unpredictable results, excessive mess, etc. In one aspect, after a new section of hair grows out from the scalp, where the natural color of the hair is different from the rest of the hair that has been dyed, existing hair dye systems may not be able to effectively blend and dye the roots of the hair. The present disclosure is intended to address these needs and other needs.
[0032] In some embodiments, the hair coloring formulation includes at least one dye and a separate developer, wherein the at least one dye and the separate developer are mixed in a controlled ratio. However, in the present disclosure, "formulation" is not limited to dyes and developers. In embodiments, "formulation" generally refers to any of the following: dyes, developers, formulations, fluids, or any mixtures thereof. In embodiments, "formulations" include: permanent hair dyes; semi-permanent hair dyes; developers; conditioners; hair growth treatments, such as those sold under the trade name manufactured minoxidil; hair protein care agent; disulfide bond repair hair care agent; fluid hair care agent; fluid scalp care agent, etc. In an embodiment, the "preparation" includes an anti-dandruff preparation, a dry scalp care preparation, an itchy scalp care preparation, etc. In an embodiment, the "preparation" includes a scalp care preparation, a scalp cleanser preparation, a scalp conditioner preparation, a scalp detoxification (detoxification) preparation, etc.
[0033] Embodiments of the present disclosure are configured to apply formulations to target areas of hair and scalp tissue. Although any of the above formulations are appropriately applied using the embodiments described herein, the present disclosure generally uses hair dye formulations as an example of a treatment formulation applied by the systems and devices described below. [0043] Figure 1 A representative medication delivery system 100 according to the present disclosure is shown. The medication delivery system 100 includes a number of different features including a medication product line 102, a medication delivery device 104, and an optional application 106 that together enable a customized user experience.
[0044] Preparation product line 102 comprises different preparations 108, and described different preparations 108 are all stored in the preparation tube 110 of identical (general) type, and this preparation tube 110 is configured to use together with preparation delivery device 104.The tube of general preparation tube type is configured to be inserted in the barrel cavity of the reusable handle of preparation delivery device conventionally. For example, in some embodiments, preparation tube and cleaning tube have general cross-sectional shape and size.In addition, some embodiments of general preparation tube type have general output nozzle quantity and layout structure.
[0045] Figure 2A schematic overview of a representative drug delivery device 200 is shown to facilitate understanding of some representative features of the drug delivery device 200. The drug delivery device 200 should be understood to have Figure 1 The same features as the formulation delivery device 104.
[0046] The preparation delivery device 200 includes a reusable handle 202 having a hollow elongated portion configured to reversibly receive a general type of preparation cartridge (including a cleaning cartridge 112). The reusable handle 202 also houses a plurality of subassemblies including a controller 204, a cartridge authentication interface 210, a power supply 212, a preparation dispensing assembly 214, and an optional position sensor 216. The controller 204 includes a processor 206 and a data storage device 208 storing a plurality of modules (described below).
[0047] In some embodiments, the power supply 212 is a direct current (DC) power supply, such as a rechargeable battery (e.g., a lithium-ion battery) that is configured to be charged by plugging into a household alternating current outlet. In other embodiments, the power supply 212 is an alternating current (AC) power supply, such as a common household alternating current device that supplies power to the formulation delivery device 200 using an electrical cord (not shown). In some embodiments, the battery is configured to adjust the current and / or power amplitude based on the temperature of the battery. In some embodiments, the battery includes a battery manager to adjust the current or amplitude based on the temperature of the battery.
[0048] The preparation dispensing assembly 214 provides the preparation and / or cleaning liquid from the preparation cartridge 110 to the user's scalp or hair. In an embodiment, the preparation dispensing assembly 214 includes: a first fluid conduit, which is fluidly connected to a first preparation inlet (the first preparation inlet is coupled to a first liquid output nozzle of the preparation cartridge 110); a second fluid conduit, which is fluidly connected to a second preparation inlet (the second preparation inlet is coupled to a second liquid output nozzle of the preparation cartridge 110); a motor 218; a pump 220, which is driven by the motor 218; and a reciprocating nozzle assembly 222, which is also driven by the motor 218.
[0049] The cartridge authentication interface 210 is an RFID reader, a near field reader or the like, and the cartridge authentication interface 210 is positioned in the reusable handle 202 so that when the preparation cartridge 110 is inserted into the reusable handle 202, the cartridge authentication interface 210 reads the encryption chip disposed on the preparation cartridge 224 so as to authenticate the preparation cartridge in conjunction with the preparation routine module 226 described below.
[0050] The optional position sensor 216 includes one or more sensors that individually or collectively help determine the position and orientation of the formulation delivery device 200 relative to the user's scalp or hair. In some embodiments, the position sensor 216 includes one or more accelerometers, touch sensors (e.g., capacitive touch sensors), proximity sensors (e.g., optical proximity sensors), etc. The signals transmitted from the position sensor 216 are used by the controller 204 and some modules of the controller 204 to improve the accuracy and efficiency of applying the formulation to the user's hair or scalp.
[0051] The controller 204 is operatively connected (e.g., electrically connected, electrically optically connected, optically connected, etc.) to the power supply 212, the cartridge authentication interface 210, the formulation dispensing assembly 214, and the optional position sensor 216. The controller 204 includes a processor 206 (e.g., a general processing unit, a graphics processing unit, a central processing unit, an application-specific integrated circuit, etc.), a data memory 926 (a tangible machine-readable storage medium), a plurality of modules implemented as software logic (e.g., executable software code, one or more algorithms, etc.), firmware logic, hardware logic, or various combinations thereof. In some embodiments, the controller 204 includes a transceiver that transmits signals from any of the modules discussed below to a mobile device and receives signals transmitted from the mobile device.
[0052] In some embodiments, the controller 204 includes a communication interface having a circuit configured to communicate with a formulation delivery system via the Internet, a cellular network, an RF network, a personal area network (PAN), a local area network, a wide area network, or other networks, the formulation delivery system including a formulation cartridge 224 (encryption chip), a cleaning cartridge 228, a cartridge authentication interface 210, a mobile device, and an application and / or other network elements stored on the mobile device. Thus, the communication interface can be configured to use a wireless protocol (e.g., The communication interface communicates with the controller 204 and other network elements (e.g., cellular, infrared, near field, etc.) and / or wired protocols (universal serial bus or other serial communications such as RS-216, RJ-45, etc., parallel communication buses, etc.). In some embodiments, the communication interface includes circuitry configured to initiate a discovery protocol that allows the controller 204 and other network elements (e.g., formulation cartridge 110) to identify each other and exchange control information (e.g., identification of formulations stored in formulation cartridge 110). In an embodiment, the communication interface has circuitry configured to discover the protocol and negotiate one or more pre-shared keys.
[0053] The data storage 208 is a tangible machine-readable storage medium that includes a mechanism for storing information in a non-transitory form that can be accessed by a machine (e.g., the processor 206 or the mobile device 114). For example, the machine-readable storage medium includes recordable / non-recordable media (e.g., read-only memory (ROM), random access memory (RAM), magnetic disk storage media, optical storage media, flash memory devices, etc.).
[0054] The modules described below are representative and not limiting. Accordingly, some embodiments of the controller 204 include additional modules, while other embodiments include fewer than all of the modules.
[0055] The barrel authentication module 230 communicates with the barrel authentication interface 210, so that any preparation barrel 224 or cleaning barrel 228 inserted into the reusable handle 202 is authenticated. For example, when the preparation barrel 224 is inserted into the reusable handle 202, the barrel authentication interface 210 reads the encryption information from the encryption chip arranged on the preparation barrel 224. If the barrel authentication interface 210 successfully reads the encryption information from the encryption chip, the barrel authentication module 230 "unlocks" the preparation delivery device 200, such as making the preparation routine module 226 "unlock". However, if the barrel authentication interface 210 cannot successfully authenticate the preparation barrel inserted into the reusable handle 202, the barrel authentication module 230 does not unlock the preparation delivery device 200. For example, if the preparation barrel is a forged barrel or another barrel containing inferior preparations, the barrel authentication module 230 will not unlock the function of the preparation delivery device 200. In this way, the barrel authentication module 230 advantageously prevents the user from being injured or obtaining a bad experience.
[0056] In some embodiments, the cartridge authentication module 230 is configured to read additional information from the encryption chip, the additional information including one or more of the following: formulation identification, initial formulation amount, formulation expiration date, or formulation production date. In this embodiment, the cartridge authentication module 230 transmits the additional information to other modules for subsequent use.
[0057] The formulation routine module 226 stores a plurality of formulation routines (e.g., hair care formulation routines) for different formulations, and causes the formulation dispensing assembly 214 to execute one or more formulation routines based on the formulation cartridge 224 authenticated by the cartridge authentication module 230. The formulation routine dispenses the authenticated formulation 108 from the formulation cartridge 224 through the reciprocating nozzle assembly 222. For example, the hair care formulation routine activates and causes the formulation dispensing assembly 214 to dispense one or more hair care formulations from the reciprocating nozzle assembly 222 at a specific liquid flow rate of the pump, a nozzle reciprocating frequency and / or reciprocating amplitude of the reciprocating nozzle assembly 222, and / or other device operating parameters specified by the formulation routine stored in the formulation routine module 226 and for a specific dispensing time. In this way, the formulation delivery device 200 adjusts one or more device operating parameters based on the specific formulation stored in the authenticated formulation cartridge 224 inserted into the formulation delivery device to more effectively care for the hair and scalp.
[0058] In some embodiments, the preparation routine module 226 determines the amount of the preparation that is dispensed from the preparation barrel by the preparation dispensing assembly based on the dispensing time of the certified preparation. Based on the dispensing time and / or the dispensing amount, the preparation routine module 226 causes the visual indicator on the reusable handle 202 to signal the amount of the remaining preparation. This helps the user predict when the preparation barrel will need to be replaced, and prompts the user to conveniently purchase additional preparation barrels using the e-commerce module of the connected application.
[0059] In an embodiment, the formulation routine module 226 determines the mixed formulation ratio in response to one or more input parameters indicating authentication or authorization from the cartridge authentication module 230. In an embodiment, the formulation routine module 226 causes the formulation dispensing component 214 to dispense the mixed formulation having the ratio determined in response to the one or more input parameters indicating authentication or authorization. In an embodiment, the formulation routine module 226 determines the mixing ratio between the first formulation and at least the second formulation in response to the one or more input parameters indicating authentication or authorization.
[0060] The cleaning routine module 232 stores the cleaning routine and after the cleaning cartridge 228 (the cleaning cartridge 228 has a reservoir filled with a cleaning liquid) is inserted into the reusable handle 202 and authenticated by the cartridge authentication module 230, the cleaning routine module 232 causes the agent dispensing assembly 214 to perform the cleaning routine. The cleaning routine dispenses the cleaning liquid (e.g., for a predetermined time and at a predetermined flow rate) from the authenticated cleaning cartridge 228 through the reciprocating nozzle assembly 222 to discharge any residual agent in the agent dispensing assembly 214. The cleaning routine is useful, for example, after one agent has been used in the agent delivery device 200 but before a second different agent is used, the cleaning routine is useful. In some embodiments, the cleaning routine causes the pump 220 to operate at a higher flow rate than one or more (or all) agent routines stored by the agent routine module 226 to clear all residual agents.
[0061] In some embodiments, the controller 204 is configured to switch between at least one cleaning routine (provided by the cleaning routine module 232) and a preparation routine (provided by the preparation routine module 226) in response to one or more inputs indicating a cleaning cartridge or a preparation cartridge inserted into the reusable handle. Representative inputs include authentication of a preparation cartridge or a cleaning cartridge provided by the cartridge authentication module 230.
[0062] According to the method of the present disclosure, a method of cleaning any of the agent delivery devices includes inserting a cleaning cartridge at least partially filled with a cleaning liquid into a reusable handle of the agent delivery device and performing a cleaning routine until the cleaning liquid dispensed by the agent dispensing assembly becomes clear.
[0063] The power management module 234 provides power from the power supply 212 to one or more of the controller 204, the cartridge authentication interface 210, the formulation dispensing assembly 214, or the position sensor 216. In addition, the power management module 234 conserves available power resources (e.g., conserves battery life) by switching the formulation delivery device 104 between a sleep state (passive state) and an awake state (active state).
[0064] The sleep / wake-up module 236 manages whether the preparation delivery device 200 is in a wake-up state or a sleep state. The preparation delivery device 200 is in a sleep state by default, in which case the power supply device 212 hardly provides power to the preparation dispensing assembly 214, the barrel authentication interface 210 and / or the controller 204. In the sleep state, the preparation delivery device 200 cannot perform a preparation routine or a cleaning routine. In contrast, in the wake-up state, the controller 204, the barrel authentication interface 210, the preparation dispensing assembly 214 and the position sensor 216 are supplied with enough power so that the preparation delivery device 104 can perform one or more preparation routines or cleaning routines. In some embodiments, the preparation delivery device 104 is "woke up" in the following manner, that is, enters the wake-up state from the sleep state: press the button set on the reusable handle 202, or insert the preparation barrel 224 or the cleaning barrel 228 into the reusable handle 202. In some embodiments, the preparation delivery device 200 returns to the sleep state after a predetermined inactive period (e.g., 120 seconds of inactivity).
[0065] The location module 238 uses the location signal provided by the location sensor 216 to determine the location of the dosage delivery device 200, and then provides the location information to the dosage routine module 226 to facilitate the execution of a dosage routine, such as a calibration routine. In some embodiments, the location module 238 provides the location signal to an application stored on the mobile device (via a transceiver), for example, to enable the execution of a calibration routine (described below) and / or to enable the application to display the correct application instructions based on the location signal.
[0066] Figure 3 A schematic diagram of a representative application 300 is shown. The representative application 300 should be understood to have Figure 1 The application 300 has all the features of the application 106 and is compatible with all the formulation delivery systems and formulation delivery devices of the present disclosure. As described above, the application 300 is configured to operate on a device such as a mobile device, such as a smart phone or a tablet computer. As a representative example, the application 300 is described in the context of a mobile device 302 connected to a network 304; however, this is not limiting.
[0067] The mobile device 302 has a display 306 (e.g., an LED or LCD display), a processor 308, and a data storage 310 storing a plurality of modules. The terms "processor," "data storage," and "module" have the same meanings as described above with respect to the controller 204 and as used below in conjunction with the representative agent delivery device.
[0068] Each module described below presents one or more user interfaces on the display 306. The display 306 is a touch display, and the touch display is configured to receive user input on the touch display. Therefore, for each module, the user interface presented on the display 306 is configured to both display information and receive user input.
[0069] The application 300 includes a plurality of modules that personalize the user experience, including a user profile module 312 and a user routine module 314. The modules described below are representative and not limiting. Thus, some embodiments of the application 300 include additional modules, while other embodiments include less than all modules.
[0070] The user profile module 312 establishes one or more profiles for the user of the formulation delivery device 104. These profiles are provided as input to other modules, such as the user routine module 314 and the e-commerce module 316. Thus, the user profile module 312 provides one or more user interfaces that prompt the user to provide one or more user profile inputs, including: hair color, hair type (e.g., curly hair, straight hair), dyed / undyed status, ethnicity, hair condition (e.g., damaged), scalp condition (e.g., itchy), and / or age. The user profile module 312 receives and stores the user profile inputs.
[0071] In some embodiments, the user profile module 312 communicates with the user routine module 314 by providing one or more user profile inputs or the entire user profile to the user routine module 314. The user routine module 314 then utilizes the one or more user profile inputs to create one or more user-specific routines and / or select one or more tutorials for the user to display on the display 306.
[0072] In some embodiments, the user profile module 312 is in communication with the dosage delivery device 104. For example, in some embodiments, the user profile module 312 adjusts at least one device operating parameter (e.g., flow rate, dispense time, reciprocation amplitude, or reciprocation frequency) of a dosage routine generated by the dosage routine module based on one or more user profile inputs.
[0073] In some embodiments, the user routine module 314 helps the user effectively utilize the connected preparation delivery device by formulating one or more user-specific routines for each user based on one or more user profile inputs. That is, the user routine module 314 constructs a new preparation routine (rather than selecting a predetermined preparation routine) to effectively address one or more conditions determined by the user profile inputs or to achieve one or more goals determined by the user profile inputs. As a representative example, when the user input indicates that the user's hair is both colored and damaged, the user routine module 314 constructs a user-specific routine that selects a suitable hair repair preparation and shampoo preparation from a preparation product line for the user's hair color and displays a user-specific routine (e.g., as instructions) for utilizing the selected hair repair preparation and shampoo at determined time intervals to improve the health of the user's hair.
[0074] Additionally, the user routine module 314 displays on the display 306: a) one or more passive tutorials for a formulation routine, a cleaning routine, and / or a calibration routine; and / or one or more active sets of instructions that guide the user as he or she uses the formulation delivery device.
[0075] In some embodiments, the user routine module 314 receives one or more user profile inputs or the entire user profile from the user profile module 312, and then displays a passive tutorial (e.g., a pre-recorded instructional video) for the user based on the received user profile input or the user profile. As an example, the user routine module 314 receives a user profile input from the user profile module 312 indicating that the user has dyed his hair, and displays a tutorial on the display 306 to show the user how to use the preparation delivery device to dye his hair.
[0076] In some embodiments, the user routine module 314 receives one or more position signals from a position sensor of the preparation delivery device through the controller. Based on the received position signals, the user routine module 314 instructs the user how to use the preparation delivery device when using the device (e.g., instructions for moving the preparation delivery device to a specific spatial boundary in a specific direction, at a specific speed, and in a specific pattern). As an example, the user routine module 314 receives a position signal from the position sensor indicating that the preparation delivery device is positioned at the user's left temple; based on the received position signal, the user routine module 314 displays a video to instruct the user to apply the scalp care preparation by moving the preparation delivery device from the left temple to the right temple while dispensing the scalp care preparation.
[0077] In some embodiments, the user routine module 314 receives a position signal from the medication delivery device and displays proper application instructions based on the position signal.
[0078] The calibration module 318 assists the user in calibrating the preparation delivery device, thereby improving the efficiency of the preparation routine performed by the preparation delivery device. In some embodiments, the calibration module 318 displays a passive tutorial (e.g., a pre-recorded instructional video) that instructs the user on how to complete the calibration routine. In some embodiments, the calibration module 318 provides one or more active instruction sets that instruct the user on how to use the complete calibration routine when the user uses the preparation delivery device and when the calibration module 318 receives a position signal from the preparation delivery device.
[0079] According to a representative calibration routine, the calibration module 318 instructs the user to position the preparation delivery device at a plurality of calibration locations on the user's body part, for example, in a particular order (e.g., left temple, then right temple, then front hairline, then back hairline). The user then moves the preparation delivery device to each of the calibration locations, indicating by pressing a button on the preparation delivery device or other action when the preparation delivery device is at a designated calibration location and / or when the user moves the preparation delivery device from one calibration location to another calibration location.
[0080] Based on the position signal received from the position sensor of the preparation delivery device, the calibration module 318 and / or the preparation delivery device records the calibration position. Then, the calibration module 318 and / or the preparation delivery device adjusts one or more user-specific routines based on the recorded calibration position. In some embodiments, the adjustment step includes adjusting the space limit and / or time length of one or more preparation routines stored in the preparation routine module.
[0081] The manual adjustment module 320 enables a user to manually adjust one or more device operating parameters (e.g., flow rate, dispensing time, reciprocating amplitude, or reciprocating frequency) of the preparation delivery device, which has the advantage of better control over the preparation delivery device and a more personalized user experience. Therefore, the manual adjustment module 320 presents a user interface having one or more user-adjustable virtual sliding scales, switches, editable value fields, etc., which are configured to receive one or more operating parameter inputs from the user. The manual adjustment module 320 receives the operating parameter inputs and transmits the operating parameter inputs to the preparation delivery device (e.g., a preparation routine module), which adjusts the corresponding device operating parameters based on the corresponding operating parameter inputs (e.g., to match the operating parameter inputs).
[0082] The analysis module 322 receives device operating parameters (e.g., device operating parameters from a formulation delivery device) and calculates useful analysis data, which the analysis module 322 then provides to the user through a user interface and / or to a third party through the network 304. Representative analysis data includes: formulation usage patterns, formulation purchase predictions, and formulation delivery device diagnostics. In some embodiments, the analysis module 322 communicates with the network 304 (e.g., an analysis platform disposed on one or more cloud-based servers) to retrieve additional information and / or calculate the analysis data.
[0083] In some embodiments, the dosage delivery device includes a position sensor that sends a position signal to the controller and a transceiver that sends a position signal to the mobile device. The dosage delivery device transmits the position signal to the analysis module 322, and the analysis module 322 retrieves user suggestions from the analysis platform on the network 116 based on the received position signal and displays the user suggestions.
[0084] The formulation creation module 324 enables the user to create a customized formulation based on the user's selection of one or more formulation inputs, the customized formulation corresponding to one or more of one or more desired results (e.g., a desired hair color), one or more formulation inputs (e.g., an indication of hair damage by the user), and / or user profile inputs provided to the user profile module 312. Thus, the formulation creation module 324 is configured to receive one or more user profile inputs from the user profile module 312 and formulate a customized formulation based on these inputs.
[0085] To facilitate the user's creation of a customized formulation, the formulation creation module 324 provides a user interface having one or more user-adjustable virtual sliding scales, switches, editable value fields, etc. corresponding to each formulation input. In some embodiments, the formulation creation module 324 communicates with the network 304 (e.g., a formulation database disposed on one or more cloud-based servers) to retrieve additional information and / or formulate the customized formulation.
[0086] The e-commerce module 3156 presents a purchase interface that enables the user to purchase (including one-time or subscription) products related to the preparation delivery device. In some embodiments, the e-commerce module 316 retrieves one or more customized preparations from the preparation creation module 324 (or a component of the preparation creation module 324), and presents the option of one or more preparation cartridges 110 containing the customized preparation for the user to purchase on the purchase interface. In some embodiments, the e-commerce module 3156 retrieves one or more user profile inputs and / or user-specific routine inputs from the user profile module 312, and presents the option of one or more preparation cartridges containing preparations for the user profile inputs on the purchase interface for the user to purchase (e.g., presenting a preparation cartridge containing a hair repair preparation in the case where the user input indicates damaged hair). In some embodiments, the e-commerce module 316 presents the option of purchasing a cleaning cartridge 112, or a preparation delivery device 104, and / or a component of a preparation delivery device 104 on the purchase interface. Such a purchase interface and purchase options can be based on the preparation usage pattern and / or preparation purchase prediction retrieved from the analysis module 322.

The agent delivery device 400 is configured to receive a type of agent cartridge 402 (including a cleaning cartridge of the same type). FIG. 8A to FIG. 10 Detailed description of an embodiment of a formulation cartridge of the formulation cartridge 402 type; Figure 4 The preparation cartridge 402 shown in FIG. 4 should be understood to have the same FIG. 8A to FIG. 10 Some embodiments of the drug delivery device 400 include a drug cartridge 402 and / or an optional pull-through adapter 404 .
[0088] Preparation delivery device 400 comprises a reusable handle 406 made of ABS plastic or similar rigid polymer or other materials, and in some embodiments, this handle is the assembly formed by a plurality of housings, and these housings are configured to be joined together by fastening elements such as snaps, screws.Reusable handle 406 has a hollow elongated gripping portion, and the gripping portion has a barrel cavity, and this barrel cavity is sized and sized to receive preparation barrel 402 types. In some embodiments, this cavity comprises a keying feature, and the keying feature is beneficial to the correct insertion of preparation barrel 402 types. For example, some embodiments comprise a barrel joint 408, and barrel joint 408 is arranged in the opening and has a flat docking surface, and when preparation barrel 402 is correctly inserted in the opening, this flat docking surface engages with the corresponding docking surface of preparation barrel 402.
[0089] The application 106 includes logic configured to run on a non-transitory machine-readable storage medium and includes modules that personalize the user experience, provide useful analytical data, and enable e-commerce. The application 106 runs on a mobile device 114 such as a smartphone, tablet, etc., and interacts with a user (e.g., an end user or a salon technician) to provide executable information through a plurality of modules, which will be referred to below. Figure 3 In some embodiments, the application 106 communicates with the dosage delivery device 104 and a network 116 such as a mobile network, a cloud-based enterprise network, a local area network, and the like.
[0090] The medication product line 102, medication delivery device 104, and application 106 together provide an improved, customized user experience. Each of the above-described elements of the medication delivery system 100 will now be described in detail.
[0091] The drug delivery device 104 is a connected electromechanical device that interacts with the user, the drug cartridge 110, and the optional application 106 to provide a customized and personalized user experience. Figures 4 to 7 To describe representative dosage form delivery devices and their subsystems.
[0092] Typically, the formulation delivery device 104 includes a reusable handle configured to receive a formulation cartridge 110 type, a formulation dispensing assembly, and a controller, both of which are disposed in the reusable handle. The formulation dispensing assembly includes at least one fluid conduit, which is fluidly connected to a motorized pump and a reciprocating nozzle assembly, and the fluid conduit is configured to extract a formulation or cleaning liquid from the formulation cartridge 110 and dispense the formulation or cleaning liquid to a user's hair portion, scalp portion, or body portion through the reciprocating nozzle assembly.
[0093] Controller is configured to switch between at least cleaning routine and preparation program in response to one or more inputs of indicating the cleaning cylinder or preparation cylinder inserted into the reusable handle. The encryption chip reader of the cylinder authentication interface in the controller and the reusable handle communicates, to read the encryption chip arranged on the preparation cylinder 110, thereby to which kind of preparation 108 is stored in the preparation cylinder 110 inserted into the reusable handle at any given time and authenticate. In some embodiments, the controller also authenticates when the cleaning cylinder 112 is inserted into the reusable handle.Based on the authenticated preparation 108 or the cleaning cylinder 112, the controller makes the preparation delivery device 104 perform the preparation routine, and this preparation routine distributes the authenticated preparation from the preparation cylinder by the preparation dispensing assembly.Based on the authenticated cleaning cylinder 112, the controller also makes the preparation delivery device 104 perform the cleaning routine, and this cleaning routine distributes the cleaning liquid by the preparation dispensing assembly.
[0094] The reusable handle 406 accommodates the agent dispensing assembly 410 (described below) in addition to the controller 412. Figures 5 to 7 The preparation dispensing component 410 and the controller 412 are respectively provided with Figure 2 The same features of the formulation dispensing assembly 214 and the controller 204 are described below. Figure 6 to Figure 7 Describe in detail embodiments of a formulation dispensing assembly; Figure 4 The formulation dispensing assembly 410 shown in FIG. 4 should be understood to have the same Figure 6 to Figure 7 Same features as described.
[0095] The formulation dispensing assembly 410 dispenses formulation or cleaning liquid from the formulation cartridge 402 and includes a pump, a fluid conduit, a mixing chamber, and a reciprocating nozzle assembly 414 (described below) having a nozzle extending away from the front end of the reusable handle 406 and seated between a plurality of optional bracket portions 416. The reciprocating nozzle assembly 414 includes a plurality of annular nozzles that reciprocate back and forth along a track of the reusable handle 406 while dispensing formulation onto the user's skin or hair. In some embodiments, the reciprocating nozzle assembly 414 reciprocates with a reciprocating amplitude of 7.0 mm to 12.0 mm (e.g., 8.0 mm to 11.0 mm, or 9.0 mm to 10.0 mm), and / or with a reciprocating frequency of 5.0 Hz to 10.0 Hz (e.g., 6.0 Hz to 9.0 Hz, 6.0 Hz to 8.0 Hz), and the reciprocating amplitude and reciprocating frequency can be adjusted by a formulation routine module, a cleaning routine module, a user routine module, a manual adjustment module, or other modules.
[0096] like Figure 5As shown, one or more preparation containers 418 (e.g., bag-like or package-like) are arranged in the preparation barrel 402, and each of the preparation containers has an output nozzle 420, which protrudes through the distal end (front end) of the preparation barrel 402 in a configuration that is fluidly connected to the corresponding preparation inlet 422 of the preparation dispensing assembly 410 when the preparation barrel 402 is fully inserted into the barrel cavity 424.
[0097] A button 426 disposed on the reusable handle 406 and electrically connected to the controller 412 activates the features of the drug delivery device 400 described above. In some embodiments, pressing the button 426 activates Figure 2 For example, in some embodiments, pressing button 426 activates the sleep / wake module stored in controller 412, thereby waking the formulation delivery device 400 from a sleep state to a wake state. In some embodiments, pressing button 426 when the formulation cartridge is inserted into the reusable handle 406 activates the formulation routine module stored in controller 412, thereby starting a formulation routine.
[0098] In some embodiments, when cleaning tube is inserted into reusable handle 406, button 426 is pressed to enable the cleaning routine module stored in controller 412, thereby starting cleaning routine. One or more of visual indicator 428 (such as LED) indication remaining preparation amount or remaining battery life along reusable handle 406 arrangement, such as based on the distribution time determined by the preparation routine module of controller. Some embodiments comprise additional button and / or have the visual indicator 428 of different number of different functions, and shown embodiment is non-restrictive. In some embodiments, visual indicator 428 is multi-segment LED, and every section corresponds to the remaining preparation of equal proportion in preparation tube.
[0099] The controller 412 includes the following logic (the logic is stored in the data memory of the controller 412): when the logic is executed by the processor of the controller 412, the logic causes the cartridge authentication interface 430 (e.g., an RFID reader) disposed in the reusable handle 406 to read the encryption chip 432 on the preparation cartridge 402 to authenticate the preparation cartridge 402. The encryption chip 432 stores at least one of the preparation cartridge 402, the preparation identification, the initial preparation amount, the preparation expiration date, or the preparation production date.
[0100] The controller 412 also includes the following logic: when the logic is executed, the logic causes the preparation delivery device to perform a preparation routine based on the authentication of the preparation cartridge 402, and the preparation routine dispenses a mixed preparation (a mixed preparation of the first preparation and the second preparation) from the preparation cartridge 402 through the preparation dispensing assembly. For example, the preparation delivery device authenticates the first preparation and the second preparation after the preparation cartridge is inserted into the reusable handle (or when the preparation cartridge is inserted into the reusable handle), and then, in response to pressing a button on the reusable handle, the preparation routine is performed, and the preparation routine causes the preparation dispensing assembly 410 to continuously or continuously mix the first preparation and the second preparation, and as long as the button is pressed, the preparation routine causes the preparation dispensing assembly 410 to dispense these preparations from the reciprocating nozzle assembly at one or more of the following predetermined device operating parameters: the predetermined device operating parameters include a preparation flow rate, a reciprocating frequency, or a reciprocating amplitude.
[0101] In some embodiments, the controller 412 also includes the following logic: when the logic is executed, the logic causes the preparation delivery device to perform a cleaning routine based on the authentication of the cleaning cylinder inserted into the reusable handle, and the cleaning routine distributes the cleaning liquid through the preparation dispensing assembly. For example, the preparation delivery device authenticates the cleaning cylinder inserted into the reusable handle, and then, in response to pressing a button on the reusable handle, performs a cleaning routine, as long as the button is pressed, the cleaning routine causes the preparation dispensing assembly 410 to continuously or continuously distribute the cleaning liquid (e.g., water) from the reciprocating nozzle assembly with one or more of the following predetermined device operating parameters: cleaning liquid flow rate, reciprocating frequency, or reciprocating amplitude. In some embodiments, the cleaning liquid flow rate is higher than any preparation flow rate of one or more preparation routines stored in the controller 412, and the advantage is that the residual preparation is effectively flushed from the preparation dispensing assembly.
[0102] A pull through adaptor 404 is attached to the reusable handle 406 via a reciprocating nozzle assembly 414. In some embodiments, the pull through adaptor 404 provides an audible feedback signal upon proper engagement with the reusable handle 406.
[0103] Figure 6 to Figure 7Representative preparation dispensing assembly 600 is shown, and preparation dispensing assembly 600 is compatible with any preparation delivery device described herein, preparation barrel and cleaning barrel. The major function of preparation dispensing assembly 600 is to distribute the mixed preparation of two kinds of different preparations from preparation barrel to the skin or hair of user.In some embodiments, preparation dispensing assembly 600 distributes mixed preparation with the flow rate of 20mL / min to 40mL / min or 120mL per four minutes, for example, preparation dispensing assembly 600 distributes mixed preparation with the flow rate of 20mL / min to 35mL / min, 20mL / min to 30mL / min, 20mL / min to 25mL / min, 25mL / min to 35mL / min, 25mL / min to 30mL / min or 35mL / min to 40mL / min.
[0104] The preparation dispensing assembly 600 includes a first preparation inlet 602 and a second preparation inlet 604, and a first fluid conduit 606 and a second fluid conduit 608 respectively connected to the first preparation inlet 602 and the second preparation inlet 604. In some embodiments, each of the first preparation inlet 602 and the second preparation inlet 604 is formed as a protrusion extending backward (i.e., toward the barrel cavity when arranged in the reusable handle) from the first fluid conduit and the second fluid conduit respectively toward the rear end of the reusable handle, and the protrusion is configured to protrude into the preparation barrel.
[0105] The formulation dispensing assembly 600 also includes a motor 610, a gearbox 612 operatively connected to the motor 610, and a pump 614 driven by the motor 610 through the gearbox 612. In some embodiments, the pump 614 is a peristaltic pump, which has been found to improve formulation dispensing when used in conjunction with the mixing chamber and tapered formulation passage described herein.
[0106] The reciprocating nozzle assembly 616 includes a plurality of annular nozzles 618 arranged on a comb 620 that circulates back and forth along the track of the reusable handle 406 when in use, while dispensing the agent to the user's skin or hair to achieve more uniform agent coverage. Each of the nozzles 618 includes a agent channel 622 that runs through the nozzle, and each of the agent channels 622 is fluidly connected to the first fluid conduit 606 and the second fluid conduit 608 through a manifold 624. In some embodiments, each agent channel 622 is tapered, which has the advantage of increasing the agent dispensing speed and / or further mixing the two agents. The tapered agent channel has proven to be advantageous when used in combination with other features described herein, such as, for example, wherein the pump 614 is a peristaltic pump, and / or, wherein the turbulent mixing chamber includes one or more spiral mixers 626.
[0107] The motor 610 and the gearbox 612 drive the reciprocating nozzle assembly 616 to perform linear reciprocating motion. In an embodiment, the linear reciprocating motion is excited by an eccentric roller 628 connected to the output shaft 630 of the gearbox 612, and the eccentric roller 628 rotates inside the annular bracket of the comb 620. Driving the pump 614 and the reciprocating nozzle assembly 616 by a common motor 610 provides power efficiency, reduces weight and reduces size, thereby improving the form factor of the formulation delivery device. However, some embodiments use more than one motor to drive the pump 614 and the reciprocating nozzle assembly 616.
[0108] Nozzle 618 is fluidly connected to the first fluid conduit 606 and the second fluid conduit 608 by a turbulent mixing chamber 632, and the first preparation extracted from the preparation tube by the first fluid conduit 606 is mixed with the second preparation extracted from the preparation tube by the second fluid conduit 608 to produce a mixed preparation. Specifically, the turbulent mixing chamber 632 is by combining the two preparations in a common chamber under pressure and making the two preparations flow through one or more mixing elements to mix the two preparations, and this can make the mixed preparation produce turbulence (different from laminar flow). The ratio of the first preparation and the second preparation is different in different embodiments. For example, in some embodiments, a mixed preparation is a mixture of the first preparation and the second preparation with a ratio of about 0.8:1.0 to 1.2:1.0, and the ratio is, for example, 0.85, 0.90, 0.95, 1.00, 1.05, 1.10 or 1.15.
[0109] In some embodiments, the turbulent mixing chamber 632 is disposed between the pump 614 and the reciprocating nozzle assembly 616. In this configuration, the two agents are mixed prior to dispensing, which results in a more uniform consistency of the agents and better dispensing of the agents from the nozzle 618 than if the agents were mixed upstream of the pump 614.
[0110] In some embodiments, the turbulent mixing chamber 632 includes a spiral mixer 626 disposed therein. Some embodiments include a plurality of spiral mixers 626, which are connected in series in a fluid manner along the fluid path in the turbulent mixing chamber 632 to improve mixing. In some embodiments, each spiral mixer has an outer diameter between 2.00mm and 5.00mm, such as an outer diameter between 3.0mm and 4.00mm, such as an outer diameter of 3.18mm. In some embodiments, each spiral mixer has a total length between 20.0mm and 40.0mm, such as a total length between 25.0mm and 35.0mm, such as a total length of 33.0mm. In some embodiments, each spiral mixer has a length-to-diameter ratio between 0.75 and 1.25 (defined as total length / [outer diameter*#mixing element (mixingelement)]), such as a length-to-diameter ratio between 0.80 and 0.90, such as a length-to-diameter ratio of 0.865. It has been found that the combination of the above specifications produces the best mixed formulation consistency, particularly when the two formulations are not mixed until downstream of the pump 614 and upstream of the reciprocating nozzle assembly 616, and when the pump 614 is a peristaltic pump.
[0111] In use, the pump 614 draws the agent from the connected agent cartridge through the first and second fluid conduits 606, 608, the turbulent mixing chamber 632, the manifold 624, and the nozzle 618. In the illustrated embodiment, the first and second fluid conduits 606, 608 are kept fluidly separated until downstream of the pump 614 to prevent the two agents from mixing prior to the turbulent mixing chamber 632. As previously described, mixing the two agents prior to dispensing (i.e., between the pump 614 and the manifold 624) improves the consistency of the mixed agent.
[0112] FIG. 8A to FIG. 10 An exemplary preparation cartridge 800 of a preparation cartridge type compatible with any of the preparation delivery systems, preparation delivery devices, and preparation product lines described herein is shown. However, the preparation delivery systems, preparation delivery devices, and preparation product lines described herein do not require the use of FIG. 8A to FIG. 10 Sustainable formulation cartridge 800 is shown.
[0113] The preparation cartridge 800 is a sustainable embodiment specifically designed to reduce waste and environmental impact while providing a user-friendly experience. To this end, the preparation cartridge 800 includes two main components: a handle portion 802 and a disposable preparation cartridge refill unit 804 (hereinafter referred to as the refill unit 804), which is configured to reversibly slide into the handle portion 802. Historically, known cartridges have been designed to be discarded entirely after the preparation stored therein has been exhausted, resulting in a large amount of waste and higher consumer costs.
[0114] Compared with known cartridges, the preparation cartridge 800 is configured so that the handle portion 802 can be reused indefinitely, and the refill unit 804 can be easily replaced after the preparation stored therein is exhausted. In addition, each refill unit 804 is configured to be decomposed into smaller components, some of which can be recycled in certain embodiments, while other components can be discarded. Therefore, the preparation cartridge 800 adopts an innovative structure to reduce waste and improve user experience.
[0115] Handle portion 802 is sized, sized and configured to be repeatedly inserted into the barrel chamber of the preparation delivery device. Therefore, handle portion 802 is made of ABS plastic or similar rigid polymer or other materials, and comprises a hollow handle portion 802 configured to receive therein a refill unit 804 and a tray portion 806 extending away from handle portion 802. Handle portion 802 is a two-piece assembly (although in other embodiments, handle portion 802 may be a one-piece assembly), and handle portion 802 is sized and sized to make: when fully inserted into the barrel chamber of the preparation delivery device, a seamless extension of the preparation delivery device handle is formed. Tray portion 808 protrudes away from handle portion 802 and has a U-shaped shape configured to support refill unit 804 (for example, front body portion 810). For ease of secure engagement and easy removal, handle portion 802 comprises a coupling device, which is used to couple preparation barrel 800 to the reusable handle of the preparation delivery device. An exemplary coupling device includes a cartridge release 812 (eg, a latch) formed in the handle portion 802 that engages the drug delivery device upon proper and complete insertion.
[0116] Thus, the generic type of formulation cartridge 110 enables a consumer to use many different formulations in a single formulation delivery device 104. FIG. 8A to FIG. 10 An exemplary type of formulation cartridge 110 is described in Fig.12 An exemplary cleaning cartridge 112 is described in .
[0117] In an exemplary embodiment, the preparation product line 102 includes a hair coloring preparation and a scalp treatment preparation. In other exemplary embodiments, the preparation product line 102 includes at least two, three, four, five, six, seven, or eight of the following different preparations, each of which is stored in the same type of preparation cartridge 110: permanent hair color and developer; semi-permanent hair color and developer; shampoo; conditioner; hair growth treatment, such as minoxidil; hair protein treatment; disulfide repair hair treatment; or liquid scalp treatment. In further exemplary embodiments, the preparation product line 102 includes any combination of the above, and also includes an optional cleaning cartridge 112 of the same type of preparation cartridge 110.
[0118] This type of preparation barrel 110 has an elongated shape and size, and the preparation barrel 110 is configured to be inserted into the handle of the preparation delivery device 104, in particular, into the barrel cavity of the handle. In some embodiments of the preparation delivery system 100, the elongated outer container has different structures between the preparation barrel 110 containing the preparation and the cleaning barrel 112, but has a common shape and size. For example, in some embodiments, the preparation barrel 110 for containing the preparation has FIG. 8A to FIG. 10 1 and 2. The structure of the partially recyclable embodiment shown in FIG. 1 is similar to that of the cleaning cartridge 112, with the cleaning cartridge 112 having a similar shape and size, but with different materials and components.
[0119] Another feature of this type of preparation cartridge 110 is a plurality of liquid output nozzles that are sized and positioned to be fluidly connected to a corresponding plurality of liquid inlets (e.g., a first preparation inlet) at the distal end (front end) of the preparation cartridge 110. In some embodiments, the liquid output nozzle is a valve of a preparation container (e.g., a bag or package) disposed in the preparation cartridge 110.
[0120] An exemplary type of agent cartridge 110 is configured for insertion into the agent delivery device 104 and for storing a first agent and a second agent, as described below. FIG. 8A to FIG. 10 as described.
[0121] The cleaning cartridge 112, as a universal type of agent cartridge 110 (i.e., having universal outer dimensions and multiple liquid delivery nozzles), enables a user to clean the agent delivery device 104 by performing a cleaning routine that flushes a cleaning liquid (e.g., water) from the cleaning cartridge 112 through the fluid conduits of the agent delivery device 104, thereby removing residual agent in the agent delivery device 104. Advantageously, the cleaning cartridge 112 and the cleaning routine allow a large portion of the agent delivery device 104 to be reused for different agents, thereby reducing waste and lowering costs.
[0122] The cleaning cartridge 112 includes a refillable cleaning liquid reservoir disposed within the outer housing, which is fluidically connected to a plurality of output nozzles. Therefore, a user can fill the cleaning liquid reservoir with a cleaning liquid such as water, perform a plurality of cleaning routines on the formulation delivery device 104, and refill the cleaning liquid reservoir.
[0123] like Fig. 9A As best shown in FIG. 1 , the refill unit 804 generally includes a refill package including a housing 826 that encloses at least one agent container (e.g., a package, bag, or other container), such as a first agent bag 814 and a second agent bag 816, and a valve frame 832 coupled to the refill package, such as a front body portion 810 of the housing 826. The first agent bag 814 and the second agent bag 816 contain a first agent 818 and a second agent 820, respectively. The refill unit 804 may optionally include a package liner 830.
[0124] The volume of each of the first preparation bag 814 and the second preparation bag 816 is about 40mL to about 70mL, about 50mL to about 60mL, about 40mL to about 65mL, about 40mL to about 60mL, about 40mL to about 55mL, about 40mL to about 50mL, about 45mL to about 70mL, about 50mL to about 70mL, about 55mL to about 70mL, about 60mL to about 70mL, or about 55mL. In some embodiments, the first preparation bag 814 and the second preparation bag 816 have different volumes. In some embodiments, the refill unit 804 stores only a single preparation container.
[0125] The first formulation 818 and the second formulation 820 can each be any formulation described herein, for example: a permanent hair dye; a semi-permanent hair dye; a developer; a conditioner; a hair growth treatment, such as minoxidil; a hair protein treatment; a disulfide repair hair treatment; a fluid hair treatment; a fluid scalp treatment, etc. In some embodiments, the first formulation 818 and the second formulation 820 are different. For example, in some embodiments, the first formulation 818 is a hair dye and the second formulation 820 is a developer. In other embodiments, the first formulation 818 and the second formulation 820 are the same (e.g., a conditioner or a scalp treatment formulation). In some embodiments, the first formulation 818 is selected from the list above and the second formulation 820 is a cleaning solution. In some embodiments, the first formulation pouch 814 and the second formulation pouch 816 are configured to be connected to a valve selector, such as Fig.13 and FIG. 16A to FIG. 16D As shown in detail.
[0126] like Fig. 9AAs shown, each preparation bag 814, 816 includes a preparation containing package 822 and a valve device for selectively fluidly connecting the refill unit to the dispensing nozzle unit of the preparation delivery device when the preparation cartridge 800 is received in the handheld preparation dispensing device. The exemplary valve device includes a valve 824 through which the preparation leaves the package 822. The exemplary preparation container is described in the international patent application No. 2019 / 067336A2 published on April 4, 2019 and assigned to L'Oreal SA and the U.S. patent application No. 2021 / 0196021A1 published on July 1, 2021 and assigned to L'Oreal SA, both of which are incorporated herein by reference in their entirety for all purposes.
[0127] The housing 826 has an elongated shape and is sized to be received in the reusable handle portion 802. The housing 826 encloses and protects the first and second agent bags 814, 816 and engages with the valve frame 832 (described below). Thus, the housing 826 serves as a packaging member that protects the agent bags 814, 816 before loading into the agent delivery device during commercial processes.
[0128] In some embodiments, the housing 826 has an overall length between 150 mm and 250 mm (e.g., 175 mm to 225 mm, 185 mm to 215 mm, 195 mm to 205 mm, or 200 mm) and a maximum cross-sectional dimension of 25 mm to 50 mm (e.g., 30 mm to 45 mm, 35 mm to 40 mm, or 36 mm). The housing 826 has a rear body portion 828 and an elongated front body portion 810, such as a neck portion, extending away from the body portion 828. The body portion 828 and the elongated front body portion 810 are generally aligned in a common longitudinal direction so as to be assembled with the reusable handle portion 802 and to be inserted into the barrel cavity of the formulation delivery device.
[0129] In some embodiments, the housing 826 is at least partially constructed of a recyclable or recycled material, such as a paper material such as an injection molded paper material or a die-cut structural paper (e.g., paperboard). In the illustrated embodiment, the housing 826 is formed from a single piece of injection molded paper material. In some embodiments where the housing 826 is formed from paper, the paper has a weight between 8 points and 12 points (e.g., 8.5 points, 9.0 points, 9.5 points, 10.0 points, 10.5 points, 11.0 points, or 11.5 points) to impart sufficient rigidity without creating excessive disposable material.
[0130] When viewed in a plane orthogonal to the longitudinal direction of the barrel 800, the rear body portion 828 of the housing 826 has a larger cross-sectional dimension than the front body portion 810. The ridge or projection 827 provides the rear body portion 828 with a larger cross-sectional area relative to the elongated front body portion 810. Advantageously, the ridge or projection 827 enables the use of larger volume formulation pouches 814, 816. In addition, the ridge or projection 827 forms an abutment 829 that abuts against the corresponding inner face of the handle portion 802 and fixes the longitudinal position of the housing 826 during use.
[0131] The elongated front body portion 810 of the housing 826 is sized to fit within the tray portion 806 of the handle portion 802 and to protrude into the barrel cavity of the drug delivery device during use. Fig. 8A , the front body portion 810 is coupled to the valve frame 832. To facilitate secure connection and alignment with the valve frame 832, the front body portion 810 includes a valve frame coupling device, such as at least one coupling protrusion 844 configured to selectively engage the valve frame 832. In the illustrated embodiment, the front body portion 810 includes a single coupling protrusion 844 extending away from a front end thereof. The coupling protrusion 844 includes an engagement feature, such as a detent or raised protrusion 831 that is shaped and dimensioned to engage a complementary opening 833 of the valve frame 832.
[0132] The housing 806 can have many different configurations. For example, while referring to Fig. 9A and Fig. 9B , the housing 806 shown is a clamshell configuration formed by at least two partial housings (in this embodiment, two halves 835, 837) connected in an articulated manner by a hinge 839, and the hinge 839 is, for example, a movable hinge formed integrally with the two halves. In the illustrated embodiment, the hinge 839 is disposed at the distal end of the housing 806, that is, the distal end of each of the half 835, 837 is seated. In other embodiments, the hinge can be disposed at different positions, for example, along the longitudinal edge of the half. In some embodiments, the housing 806 includes different numbers of partial housings, for example, three or four partial housings, which together enclose the preparation pouches 814, 816. In other embodiments, the housing 806 includes a single component to form an open tube, and the preparation pouches 814, 816 can be inserted into the open tube.
[0133] The alignment of the halves 835, 837 enables the front body portion 810 to be properly attached to the valve frame 832. To this end, Fig.13As best shown in (deleted), the halves 835, 837 include optional complementary alignment means 841a-841d, such as protrusions and complementary grooves. The alignment means shown are exemplary and not limiting. In other embodiments, the alignment means may include different fasteners, such as hook and loop fasteners. In other embodiments, the partial shells may be configured to align with each other by friction fit or other means. In addition to aligning the halves, the alignment means 841a-841d also help hold the halves together.
[0134] Although the shell 826 shown is formed by injection molded paper material, this structure is exemplary and non-restrictive. In some embodiments, the shell 826 is made of a single piece of die-cut paper, which is folded to form a three-dimensional structure having a rear body portion 828 and an elongated neck portion 810 extending therefrom. In some such embodiments, this folded structure forms a polygonal cross section in the rear body portion 828, and forms a polygonal cross section (e.g., octagonal and hexagonal cross sections, respectively) in the front body portion 810. For ease of assembly, some such embodiments of the shell 826 include one or more notches or guide lines to ensure correct folding. Some embodiments have triangles, rectangles, pentagons, hexagons, heptagons, octagons or other polygonal cross-sectional shapes.
[0135] The optional package liner 830 slides over the neck portion 810 and provides several important advantages. First, the package liner 830 provides additional structure to the refill unit 804 by sliding over and reinforcing the front body portion 810. Thus, in some embodiments, the package liner 830 has a greater weight or thickness than the material forming the shell 826; although this is not required. In some embodiments, the package liner 830 is also made of a recyclable material, which can be the same as the shell 826.
[0136] Second, in some embodiments, the package bushing 830 is coupled to the valve frame 832. For example, the illustrated package bushing 830 includes a plurality of engagement member recesses 834 configured to reversibly couple with engagement members of the valve frame 832.
[0137] Third, the package liner 830 facilitates removal of the refill unit 804. Fig. 8AAs shown in FIG. 9 , in some embodiments, the package liner 830 includes an optional integral tearaway 836a (e.g., a perforation with a pull ring) formed thereon. In other embodiments, the tearaway is formed on the neck portion 810 (see tearaway 836b). In use, after the formulation packages 814, 816 are used up, the user pulls the pull rings of the integral tearaway 836a and / or 836b to separate the valve frame 832 from the package liner 830. After completing this operation, the package liner 830 is recycled and the valve frame 832 is discarded. In some embodiments, the integral tearaway 836 is disposed on the housing 826, such as the front body portion 810.
[0138] Valve frame 832 provides rigid structure, and this rigid structure aligns preparation bag valve 824, so that with the correct fluid interconnection of the fluid conduit of preparation delivery device. In addition, in some embodiments, valve frame 832 supports optional encryption chip 838 as above. In this type of embodiment, valve frame 832 is sized and shaped as: when preparation tube 800 is placed in the handle of preparation delivery device, encryption chip 838 is accurately positioned to the tube authentication interface adjacent to preparation delivery device. Therefore, valve frame 832 is formed by ABS plastic, HDPE or other rigid polymers or other materials. In some embodiments, valve frame 832 is formed by the material identical with housing 806.
[0139] A plurality of valve engagement units 840 extend through the front end of the valve frame 832. Each valve engagement unit 840 receives and secures one of the formulation bag valves 824. In some embodiments, the valve engagement unit 840 is a valve opening or cutout disposed through the face of the valve frame 832, the valve opening or cutout being sized to receive the valve of the formulation bag and optionally engage the outer periphery of the valve. In order to be able to couple with the package liner 830 (or the housing 826 in some embodiments), the valve frame 832 includes an optional engagement member 842 (e.g., a protrusion) extending therefrom. In some embodiments, the valve frame 832 engages with the front body portion 810 by friction fit.
[0140] The encryption chip 838 (e.g., RFID tag) is arranged on the refill unit 804, for example, on the body portion 826 or on the valve frame 832 (as in the illustrated embodiment). The encryption chip 838 is located on the refill unit 804 so that when the preparation barrel 800 is inserted into the preparation delivery device, the encryption chip is positioned to be read by its barrel authentication interface. Therefore, the encryption chip 838 stores information about the preparation barrel 800 and its content, such as at least one of the preparation identification, the initial preparation quantity, the preparation expiration date or the preparation production date.
[0141] Thus, the housing 826, the formulation pouches 814, 816, the valve frame 832, and the optional package liner 830 form a refill unit 804. In use, the refill unit 804 can be reversibly coupled to the handle portion 802, for example, by a securing means, such as a coupling protrusion on the housing 826, or by a friction fit between the refill unit 804 and the handle portion 802.
[0142] Fig.11 An exemplary method 1100 is shown that can be used with any of the formulation cartridges disclosed herein, such as FIG. 8A to FIG. 10 As an example, Fig.11 A method of replenishing or reloading a formulation cartridge of the present disclosure is provided.
[0143] In step 1102, a preparation cartridge is provided, for example, a preparation cartridge configured to provide at least one preparation to the preparation delivery device. In some embodiments, the preparation cartridge comprises a preparation bag-shaped piece that the preparation is exhausted. In some embodiments, the preparation cartridge is taken out from the preparation delivery device, for example, by pressing the tube releaser and the preparation cartridge is pulled to the outside of the preparation delivery device. In any embodiment, the preparation cartridge comprises a reusable body or handle and a preparation cartridge refilling unit, and the preparation cartridge refilling unit may comprise a valve frame engaging the refilling package that stores the at least one preparation. In any embodiment, the refilling package comprises a housing that is enclosed by at least one container that stores the at least one preparation.
[0144] The agent cartridge refill unit is separated from the reusable handle in step 1104. In some embodiments, the reusable handle is disassembled into two or more parts, thereby exposing at least a portion of the agent cartridge refill unit, and then the agent cartridge refill unit is removed from the disassembled reusable handle.
[0145] In optional step 1106, the formulation cartridge refill unit is at least partially disassembled, for example, by separating the refill package from the valve frame (e.g., by separating at least one formulation container from the housing). In some embodiments, the recyclable portion of the refill unit is separated from the non-recyclable portion of the refill unit. For example, the valve frame and formulation bag are separated from the body portion and / or the optional package liner (both of which are recyclable in some embodiments), for example, by tearing open an integral tear-away portion on the package liner or the body portion and pulling the valve frame (together with the depleted formulation bag secured to the valve frame) away from the package liner and the body portion.
[0146] In optional step 1108, one or more recyclable portions of the refill unit are recycled (ie, the body portion, valve frame, and / or package liner) and one or more non-recyclable portions are discarded (ie, the spent formulation bag and valve frame).
[0147] In step 1110, a new refill unit is inserted into the reusable cartridge handle.
[0148] In step 1112, after the new refill unit is inserted into the reusable cartridge handle, the reloaded medication cartridge is reinserted into the medication delivery device.
[0149] Thus, the present disclosure not only provides sustainable formulation cartridges, but also provides methods of using formulation cartridges to further reduce waste and environmental impact.
[0150] Fig.12 An exemplary cleaning cartridge 1200 is shown, which has the same features as the cleaning cartridge described above and is compatible with any of the formulation delivery systems, formulation delivery devices, and product lines disclosed herein. Therefore, the cleaning cartridge 1200 is a cartridge of the same type as the formulation cartridge described herein (e.g., configured to be securely mounted in a reusable handle of a formulation delivery device, and having the same shape and size and multiple output nozzles).
[0151] The major function of cleaning tube 1200 is to be connected with the preparation delivery device fluid, and to provide cleaning liquid 1202 (for example, water), and cleaning liquid 1202 is flushed by the preparation dispensing assembly as a part of cleaning routine. Therefore, cleaning tube 1200 is a reusable assembly with body portion 1204, and this body portion 1204 is formed by ABS plastic or other suitable rigid polymers.Body portion 1204 supports cleaning liquid reservoir 1206, i.e. jar, and cleaning liquid 1202 is stored in this cleaning liquid reservoir, for example, the cleaning liquid of 50ml to 200mL is stored.Clean liquid reservoir 1206 has a plurality of output nozzles 1208, and output nozzle is sized and positioned to be connected with the fluid conduit fluid of preparation delivery device.Refilling cap 1210 is convenient to refilling cleaning liquid reservoir 1206.
[0152] Fig.13 1 shows a perspective exploded view of an exemplary formulation cartridge according to an exemplary embodiment of the present disclosure. Fig.13, the refill unit 804 generally includes a refill package including a housing 826 that encloses at least one agent container (e.g., a package, bag, or other container), such as a first agent bag 814, a second agent bag 816, a cleaning container 850, and a valve frame 832 coupled to the refill package, such as a front body portion 810 of the housing 826. The first agent bag 814, the second agent bag 816, and the cleaning container 850 contain a first agent 818, a second agent 820, and a cleaning solution, respectively. Optionally, the refill unit 804 may include a package liner 830.
[0153] Each of the first preparation bag 814, the second preparation bag 816, and the cleaning container 850 has the following volume: about 40mL to about 70mL, about 50mL to about 60mL, about 40mL to about 65mL, about 40mL to about 60mL, about 40mL to about 55mL, about 40mL to about 50mL, about 45mL to about 70mL, about 50mL to about 70mL, about 55mL to about 70mL, about 60mL to about 70mL, or about 55mL. In some embodiments, the first preparation bag 814, the second preparation bag 816, and the cleaning container 850 have different volumes. In some embodiments, the refill unit 804 stores only a single preparation container.
[0154] The first formulation 818 and the second formulation 820 can each be any of the formulations described herein, for example, a permanent hair dye; a semi-permanent hair dye; a developer; a conditioner; a hair growth treatment, such as minoxidil; a hair protein treatment; a disulfide repair hair treatment; a liquid hair treatment; a liquid scalp treatment, etc.
[0155] like Fig. 9AAs shown in , each formulation bag 814, 816 and cleaning container 850 includes a formulation containing package 822 and a valve device for selectively fluidly coupling the refill unit to the dispensing nozzle unit of the formulation delivery device when the formulation cartridge 800 is received in the handheld formulation dispensing device. The illustrative valve device includes a valve 824 through which the formulation leaves the package 822. Illustrative formulation containers are described in International Patent Application No. 2019 / 067336A2, published on April 4, 2019 and assigned to L'Oreal SA, and U.S. Patent Application No. 2021 / 0196021A1, published on July 1, 2021 and assigned to L'Oreal SA, which are hereby incorporated by reference in their entirety for all purposes.
[0156] The housing 826 has an elongated shape that is sized to be received within the reusable handle portion 802. The housing 826 encloses and protects the first and second agent bags 814, 816, and engages with the valve frame 832 (described below). Thus, the housing 826 serves as a package that protects the agent bags 814, 816 during the commercial process before loading into the agent delivery device.
[0157] In some embodiments, the housing 826 has an overall length between 150 mm and 250 mm (e.g., 175 mm to 225 mm, 185 mm to 215 mm, 195 mm to 205 mm, or 200 mm) and a maximum cross-sectional dimension of 25 mm to 50 mm (e.g., 30 mm to 45 mm, 35 mm to 40 mm, or 36 mm). The housing 826 has a rear body portion 828 and an elongated front body portion 810, such as a neck portion, extending from the body portion 828. The body portion 828 and the elongated front body portion 810 are generally aligned in a common longitudinal direction to enable assembly with the reusable handle portion 802 and insertion into the barrel cavity of the drug delivery device.
[0158] In some embodiments, the housing 826 is at least partially constructed of a recyclable or recycled material, such as a paper material such as an injection molded paper material or a die-cut structural paper (e.g., paperboard). In the illustrated embodiment, the housing 826 is formed from a single piece of injection molded paper material. In some embodiments where the housing 826 is formed from paper, the paper has a weight between 8 points and 12 points (e.g., 8.5 points, 9.0 points, 9.5 points, 10.0 points, 10.5 points, 11.0 points, or 11.5 points) to impart sufficient stiffness without creating excessive disposable material.
[0159] When viewed in a plane perpendicular to the longitudinal direction of the barrel 800, the rear body portion 828 of the housing 826 has a larger cross-sectional dimension than the front body portion 810. The ridge or projection 827 enables the rear body portion 828 to have a larger cross-sectional area relative to the elongated front body portion 810. Advantageously, the ridge or projection 827 enables the use of larger volume formulation pouches 814, 816. In addition, the ridge or projection 827 forms an abutment 829 that abuts against a corresponding inner face of the handle portion 802 and fixes the longitudinal position of the housing 826 during use.
[0160] The elongated front body portion 810 of the housing 826 is sized to fit within the tray portion 806 of the handle portion 802 and to protrude into the barrel cavity of the drug delivery device during use. Fig. 8A As best shown in FIG. 8 , the front body portion 810 is coupled to the valve frame 832. To facilitate secure connection and alignment with the valve frame 832, the front body portion 810 includes a valve frame coupling device, such as at least one coupling protrusion 844, which is configured to selectively engage with the valve frame 832. In the illustrated embodiment, the front body portion 810 includes a single coupling protrusion 844 extending from a front end thereof. The coupling protrusion 844 includes an engagement feature, such as a detent or raised protrusion 831, which is shaped and sized to engage with a complementary opening 833 of the valve frame 832.
[0161] Fig.14 The present invention shows an exemplary embodiment of the present invention. Fig.13 . In some embodiments, the cleaning container 850 includes a valve 855. In some embodiments, the valve frame 832 encloses a valve selector 900. In some embodiments, the valve selector 900 includes a plurality of holes 910A, 910B, etc. Although two holes 910A and 910B are shown, it should be understood that there may be any number of holes 910 in the valve selector 900. In some embodiments, the valve selector 900 includes as many holes 910 as there are preparation pouches 814, 816, and cleaning containers 850. For example, where the preparation cartridge includes a first preparation pouch 814, a second preparation pouch 816, and a cleaning container 850, the valve selector may have three holes 910. In some embodiments, such as in Fig.14In the embodiment shown in , the hole 910 of the valve selector 900 can be one less than the number of bags / containers in the formulation cartridge. In another embodiment, the valve selector can include only a single hole 910. In some embodiments, one or more valves 824 can be electronic valves. In some embodiments, the valve selector 900 can be a processor that is communicatively coupled to the one or more valves 824 to selectively close and open the valves 824. In some embodiments, the processor can be located on the dispensing device, such as at Figure 1 It should be understood that the valve selector 900 can be incorporated into any of the embodiments described herein.
[0162] In operation, the valve selector is rotated to selectively allow the formulation or cleaning solution to pass through one or more of the holes 910A, 910B, etc., such as FIG. 16A to FIG. 16D Described in .
