Abstract
Description
Technical Field
[0001] Cleaning wipes for floors. Background Art
[0002] A variety of disposable and washable floor cleaning wipes are available to consumers. These cleaning wipes are typically stacked laminates of various layers. These layers are typically flat webs of material without interruptions. In use, the user applies some cleaning liquid to the floor, and the floor contacting layer is used to scrub and mop the floor. The floor contacting layer may be hydrophilic so that the layer has the ability to collect used cleaning liquid from the floor. Some cleaning wipes include an absorbent core. The floor contacting layer may deliver soiled cleaning liquid to the absorbent core.
[0003] A typical home has a variety of floor surfaces. Some surfaces, such as hardwood or synthetic hardwood, are smooth or may have some light texture. Tile surfaces may also be smooth or textured, and there may be ridges where the mortar between tiles is located. Concrete and decorative concrete and similar materials may also be provided with a variety of surface textures. A cleaning wipe comprised of a laminate of fibrous material layers may not provide a floor contact layer of sufficient topography of the cleaning wipe to enable the cleaning wipe to clean in the valleys of the floor surface texture. When an inadequately conformable cleaning wipe is used to clean a floor, the results are generally unsatisfactory because debris may be left in the valleys of the floor surface texture.
[0004] In view of the above limitations, there is a continuing unaddressed need for a multi-layer cleaning wipe that can be used to clean floor surfaces having a variety of surface textures. Summary of the invention

[0013] A top perspective cross-sectional view of the cleaning wipe 1 is shown in FIG. Figure 1 . The top of the cleaning wipe 1 is considered herein to be the side of the cleaning wipe 1 that contacts the floor in use. The cleaning wipe 1 may have a longitudinal axis L extending between opposing transverse edges 5 that intersect the longitudinal axis L. The cleaning wipe 1 may have longitudinal edges 10 spaced from the longitudinal axis L and extending between the transverse edges 5. The cleaning wipe 1 may have a transverse axis T that is orthogonal to the longitudinal axis L. The cleaning wipe 1 may be generally planar in that the cleaning wipe 1 may extend more along the longitudinal axis L and the transverse axis T than along the z-axis, which is orthogonal to the longitudinal axis L and the transverse axis T.
[0014] The cleaning wipe 1 may have a length of about 0.1 m to about 1 m, optionally about 0.2 m to about 0.6 m, along the longitudinal axis L. The cleaning wipe 1 may have a width orthogonal to the longitudinal axis L of about 0.1 m to about 0.3 m, optionally about 0.1 m to about 0.2 m. Generally speaking, the cleaning wipe 1 is a planar object, as the lateral dimensions of length and width are substantially greater than the thickness, despite the three-dimensionality of the substrate itself and the deformations and / or overlapping strips described herein.
[0015] The longitudinal edge 10 may be straight, curved, wavy, serrated, stepped or other shapes that are practical to cut.The plan shape of the cleaning wipe 1 may be rectangular, substantially rectangular or other generally planar shapes that are practical for use in wiping floors.
[0016] The cleaning wipe 1 is removably attached to a cleaning tool having a head and a rod pivotally attached to the head. A user can attach the cleaning wipe 1 to the head and then use the rod to push the cleaning wipe 1 across the floor.
[0017] The cleaning wipe 1 may include a first nonwoven 15 extending along a longitudinal axis L. The first nonwoven 15 may extend completely or partially along the longitudinal axis L. The first nonwoven 15 may extend completely or partially across the width of the cleaning wipe 1. The first nonwoven 15 may include a plurality of first nonwoven strips 20 extending from a first nonwoven fixed end 25 oriented toward the longitudinal axis L to a first nonwoven free end 30. When the first nonwoven strips 20 extend in a plane, the first nonwoven fixed ends 25 directly opposite each other on opposite sides of the longitudinal axis L may be separated by about 15 mm to about 60 mm, optionally by about 25 mm to about 40 mm.
[0018] The cleaning wipe 1 may also include a second nonwoven 40 joined to the first nonwoven 15 along a central bonding portion 35. The second nonwoven 40 may include a plurality of second nonwoven strips 45 extending from a second nonwoven fixed end 50 oriented toward the longitudinal axis L to a second nonwoven free end 54. Along the central bonding portion 35, the second nonwoven 40 is below the first nonwoven 15. The second nonwoven fixed ends 50 directly opposite each other on opposite sides of the longitudinal axis L may be separated by about 15 mm to about 60 mm, optionally by about 25 mm to about 40 mm.
[0019] The first nonwoven fixed end 25 and the second nonwoven fixed end 50 may be outside the central bond portion 35. Optionally, the first nonwoven fixed end 25 and the second nonwoven fixed end may be spaced apart from the central bond portion 35.
[0020] The central bond portion 35 may extend through the first nonwoven 15 and the second nonwoven 40. The central bond portion 35 may extend through the thickness of the first nonwoven 15 and the second nonwoven 40, which is parallel to the z-axis Z. The central bond portion 35 may be a continuous or discontinuous thermal bond and / or chemical bond and / or a pattern of thermal bonds or chemical bonds, which extends in a direction generally along, along, parallel to, generally coincident with, or coincident with the longitudinal axis L, optionally extending along the longitudinal axis L. Thermal bonds include ultrasonic bonds. The central bond portion 35 or a portion thereof may be between the first nonwoven 15 and the second nonwoven 40.
[0021] The first nonwoven strip 20 and the second nonwoven strip 45 can extend in the opposite direction away from the central bonding portion 35 along the longitudinal axis L. In other words, the first nonwoven strip 20 and the second nonwoven strip 45 can be along the longitudinal edge 10 at the side of the central bonding portion 35. The first nonwoven strip 20 and the second nonwoven strip 45 can be respectively a single flat finger or flat finger-shaped object of the first nonwoven 15 and the second nonwoven 40, which can extend partially toward a longitudinal edge in the longitudinal edge 10 in the direction away from the longitudinal axis L. These deformable flat fingers or fingers can be bent, twisted or otherwise deformed to provide greater three-dimensionality to the corresponding nonwoven. In other words, in all practices, the flat, substantially two-dimensional nonwoven web of the first nonwoven 15 and the second nonwoven 40 can be converted into a larger, more fluffy three-dimensional structure regardless of thickness. When the cleaning wipe 1 is in use, these fingers or fingers can sweep or mop the floor and collect debris and / or liquid. Individual first nonwoven strips 20 and second nonwoven strips 45 are independently movable relative to the other first nonwoven strips 20 so as to be able to individually at least partially conform to portions of a floor surface having an irregular surface topography. When using the cleaning wipe 1, with multiple strips sweeping or mopping a floor, there is a high probability that a large portion, nearly all, or all of the floor will be contacted by at least one, if not multiple, strips.
[0022] A fluffier cleaning wipe 1 may be able to better partially conform to portions of a floor surface having an irregular surface topography. To provide this fluffiness, greater than about 10%, optionally greater than about 20%, optionally greater than about 30%, optionally greater than about 50%, optionally greater than about 70% of the second nonwoven strip 45 by number may be bent so that the second nonwoven free end 54 is out of plane relative to the second nonwoven fixed end 50. Optionally, greater than about 10%, optionally greater than about 20%, optionally greater than about 30%, optionally greater than about 50%, optionally greater than about 70% of the second nonwoven strip 45 by number may be interwoven with the first nonwoven strip 20 so that portions of the second nonwoven strip 45 are above portions of the first nonwoven strip 20. Likewise, greater than about 10%, optionally greater than about 20%, optionally greater than about 30%, optionally greater than about 50%, optionally greater than about 70% by number of the first nonwoven strip 20 can be bent such that the first nonwoven free end 30 is out of plane relative to the first nonwoven fixed end 25 to provide bulk to the cleaning wipe 1.
[0023] Compared with the cleaning wipe 1 that keeps flat in use with wherein substantially flat two-dimensional nonwoven substrate, the second nonwoven strip 45 is bent and / or the first nonwoven strip 20 and the second nonwoven strip 45 are interwoven to transform the cleaning wipe 1 into a more fluffy condition.Bending and / or interweaving make some parts of some second nonwoven strips 45 arrive at the top of the cleaning wipe 1, and this top is the side that the cleaning wipe 1 contacts the floor in use.In addition, bending and / or interweaving can position some parts of some first nonwoven strips 20 below the second nonwoven strip 45, i.e. more towards the inside of the cleaning wipe 1.Bending and / or interweaving strips can have overlapping and / or under-overlapping parts with the strip of one or more layers nearby.Bending the first nonwoven strip 20 can similarly make the cleaning wipe 1 fluffy by transforming the flat first nonwoven 15 into a more three-dimensional structure.
[0024] In practice, the first nonwoven 15 and the second nonwoven 40 are formed by flat, substantially two-dimensional nonwoven webs. The strips may be formed by cutting slits in the longitudinal edges 10 of the first nonwoven 15 and the second nonwoven 40. Since the strips have fixed ends and in all practical two-dimensional structures, regardless of the thickness of the nonwoven, a certain degree of bending and / or twisting and / or folding and / or wrinkling and / or pleating and / or stretching of the first nonwoven strip 20 and / or the second nonwoven strip 45 near their respective fixed ends may be accompanied by the bulkiness of the cleaning wipe 1 and / or the interweaving of the strips.
[0025] Bending and / or interweaving can be the interweaving of one or more first nonwoven strips 20 and one or more nearby second nonwoven strips 45. Bending and / or interweaving can be the bending or twisting or folding of a strip of a nonwoven in a certain direction, so as to mix with the bending, twisting or folding of the nearby strip of other or another nonwoven. The strip can even be bent backward so that its free end is oriented backward towards the longitudinal axis L. Some strips in the strip can even be angled bending so that its free end is oriented towards a transverse edge in the transverse edge 5 of the cleaning wipe 1 or towards the position somewhere between being oriented towards the longitudinal axis L or away from the longitudinal axis L. Bending and / or interweaving can be provided by the double folding, bending, twisting etc. of strip. Bending and / or interweaving can make the part of the strip of the inner layer of the cleaning wipe 1 leave towards the top surface of the floor contacting in use of the cleaning wipe 1.
[0026] The first nonwoven fixed end 25 can be aligned with the second nonwoven fixed end 50. This arrangement can be practical because a single strip of nonwoven can be formed by a single cutting knife or laser passing through multiple layers of nonwoven arranged in a stack.
[0027] The first nonwoven strip 20 can extend further away from the longitudinal axis L, or can extend further away from the longitudinal axis L, or be longer than the second nonwoven strip 20. This can provide a greater tendency for the first nonwoven strip 20 to contact the floor compared to the second nonwoven strip 45, while still providing sufficient loft when the first nonwoven strip 20 is bent and / or interwoven with the second nonwoven strip 45.
[0028] Optionally, the first nonwoven strip 20 and the second nonwoven strip 45 may be coextensive or coextensive with each other relative to the longitudinal axis L. This may increase the contribution of the second nonwoven strip 45 to cleaning compared to an arrangement in which the first nonwoven strip 20 extends further away from the longitudinal axis L than the second nonwoven strip 45 .
[0029] The greater the fraction of bending and / or interweaving of the first nonwoven strip 20 and the second nonwoven strip 45, the greater the amount of bulk or expansion of the cleaning wipe 1. From about 30% to about 95%, optionally from about 50% to about 95%, by number, of the second nonwoven strips 45 may be bent and / or interwoven with the first nonwoven strip 20, such that portions of the second nonwoven strips 45 are above portions of the first nonwoven strip 20. For example, if the second nonwoven 40 has 80 second nonwoven strips 45, 40 of which are along one longitudinal edge 10 and another 40 are along the other longitudinal edge 10, and 60 of the second nonwoven strips 45 are bent and / or interwoven with the first nonwoven strip 20, then 75% of the second nonwoven strips 45 by number are bent and / or interwoven with the first nonwoven strip 20.
[0030] The strip itself can be further expanded and formed into a ring structure by the gate fold in one or more of the first nonwoven 15 and the second nonwoven 40. The gate fold can be considered as a flat substrate, which is provided with two parallel folds to produce three panels, and two door panels are approximately half the width of the center panel and fold inwardly toward each other, optionally folded toward each other on the same side of the center panel. Without being bound by theory, compared with serpentine folding, c-folding or z-folding, the gate fold can be more easily controlled in the conversion process, because for the gate fold, two longitudinal edges 10 are all limited by the folding line of the corresponding nonwoven rather than the free edge. For serpentine folding, c-folding or z-folding, the longitudinal edge 10 comprises a free edge, which can make the nonwoven web more difficult to accurately control.
[0031] Optionally, the cleaning wipe 1 may include an absorbent core 225 between the fluid acquisition layer 230 and the backsheet 210. Optionally, the cleaning wipe 1 may include a third nonwoven 135.
[0032] The cross section of the cleaning wipe 1 is Figure 2 . The z-axis Z is orthogonal to the longitudinal axis L and the transverse axis T and passes through the thickness of the constituent nonwovens of the cleaning wipe 1. The first nonwoven 15 can be gate-folded and include or have a gate-folded portion 52, which includes a first nonwoven main portion 55 extending across the longitudinal axis L, a pair of first nonwoven fold lines 60 on opposite sides of the longitudinal axis L, and a pair of first nonwoven gate portions 65, each of which extends from one of the first nonwoven fold lines 60 toward the central bonding portion 35 and is bonded to the first nonwoven main portion 55. The gate-folded portion 52 in the first nonwoven 15 can provide the first nonwoven strip 20 as a flat, open, deformed or irregular loop. The interweaving of the second nonwoven strip 45 with the first nonwoven strip 20 can cause the loop constituting the first nonwoven strip 20 to be open, partially open or irregularly deformed. This can cause the first nonwoven 15 to be loftier and more expanded than a flat, unlooped first nonwoven strip 20. Optionally, the first nonwoven door portion 65 can be bonded to the first nonwoven main portion 55 outboard of the central bond portion 35 relative to the longitudinal axis L.
[0033] The first nonwoven door portion 65 may be between the first nonwoven main portion 55 and the second nonwoven 40. This may be a more structurally robust design because the ends of the door portion may be protected from separation from the central bonding portion 35 when the cleaning wipe 1 is used on a rough floor surface.
[0034] By providing that a portion of the first nonwoven door portion 65 and the first nonwoven main portion 55 adjacent the first nonwoven fold line 60 are not bonded to each other, an open or openable loop may be provided as the first nonwoven strip 20. Such a structure may be an openable or open loop.
[0035] The first nonwoven door portion 65 can extend from the first nonwoven fold line 60 to a first nonwoven door portion end 70. The first nonwoven door portion end 70 can be bonded to the first nonwoven main portion 55.
[0036] The second nonwoven 40 can be constructed similarly to the first nonwoven 15. The second nonwoven 40 can be gate-folded and include or have a gate-folded portion 52, which includes a second nonwoven main portion 75 extending across the longitudinal axis L, a pair of second nonwoven fold lines 80 on opposite sides of the longitudinal axis, and a pair of second nonwoven gate portions 85, each of which extends from one of the second nonwoven fold lines 80 toward the central bonding portion 35 and is bonded to the second nonwoven main portion 75. The gate-folded portion 52 in the second nonwoven 40 can provide the second nonwoven strip 45 as a flat, open, deformed or irregular loop. The bending and / or interweaving of the second nonwoven strip 45 with the first nonwoven strip 20 can make the loop constituting the second nonwoven strip 45 open, partially open or irregularly deformed. This can cause the second nonwoven 40 to be loftier and more expanded than a flat, unlooped second nonwoven strip 45. Optionally, a second nonwoven door portion 85 can be bonded to the second nonwoven main portion 75 outboard of the central bond portion 35 relative to the longitudinal axis L.
[0037] The second nonwoven main portion 75 can be between the second nonwoven door portion 85 and the first nonwoven 15. The second nonwoven main portion 75 can be between the second nonwoven door portion 85 and the first nonwoven main portion 55. Providing a second nonwoven door portion 85 that is folded away from the first nonwoven 15 can reduce the amount of positional control of the various nonwovens required to assemble the cleaning wipe 1 during manufacturing. Optionally, the second nonwoven door portion 85 can be between the second nonwoven main portion 75 and the first nonwoven main portion 55.
[0038] By providing that a portion of the second nonwoven door portion 85 and the second nonwoven main portion 75 adjacent the second nonwoven fold line 80 are not bonded to each other, an open or openable loop may be provided as the second nonwoven strip 45. Such a structure may be an openable or open loop.
[0039] The second nonwoven door portion 85 can extend from the second nonwoven fold line 80 to a second nonwoven door portion end 90. The second nonwoven door portion end 90 can be bonded to the second nonwoven main portion 75.
[0040] The first nonwoven strip 20 and the second nonwoven strip 45 can have the same shape as each other. Optionally, the first nonwoven strip 20 and the second nonwoven strip 45 can be straight, curved, or a combination thereof.
[0041] By adding additional layers to the cleaning wipe 1, a more expanded cleaning wipe 1 is possible. For example, the cleaning wipe 1 may also include an intermediate nonwoven 95 joined to the second nonwoven 40 along the central bonding portion 35. The intermediate nonwoven 95 may include a plurality of intermediate nonwoven strips 100 extending from an intermediate nonwoven fixed end 105 oriented toward the longitudinal axis L to an intermediate nonwoven free end 110. Along the central bonding portion 35, the second nonwoven 40 may be between the first nonwoven 15 and the intermediate nonwoven 95. Along the central bonding portion 35, the intermediate nonwoven 95 may be below the second nonwoven 40. The intermediate nonwoven fixed ends 105 directly opposite each other on opposite sides of the longitudinal axis L may be separated by about 15 mm to about 60 mm, optionally separated by about 25 mm to about 40 mm.
[0042] The central bonding portion 35 may extend through the second nonwoven 40 and the middle nonwoven 95. The central bonding portion 35 may extend through the first nonwoven 15, the second nonwoven 40, and the middle nonwoven 95. The central bonding portion 35 may extend through the thickness of the second nonwoven 40 and the middle nonwoven 95. The central bonding portion 35 may extend through the thickness of the first nonwoven 15, the second nonwoven 40, and the middle nonwoven 95, the thickness being parallel to the z-axis Z. The central bonding portion 35 may be between the second nonwoven 40 and the middle nonwoven 95. The central bonding portion 35 or a portion thereof may be between the first nonwoven 15 and the second nonwoven 40 and between the second nonwoven 40 and the middle nonwoven 95.
[0043] The intermediate nonwoven fixed end 105 can be outside the central bond portion 35. Optionally, the intermediate nonwoven fixed end 105 can be spaced apart from the central bond portion 35.
[0044] To provide a fluffy or expanded cleaning wipe 1, greater than about 10%, optionally greater than about 20%, optionally greater than about 30%, optionally greater than about 50%, optionally greater than about 70% by number of the intermediate nonwoven strip 100 may be bent and / or interwoven with the second nonwoven strip 45 such that portions of the intermediate nonwoven strip 100 are above portions of the second nonwoven strip 45. Optionally, greater than about 30%, or even greater than about 50%, or even greater than about 70% by number of the intermediate nonwoven strip 100 may be bent and / or interwoven with the second nonwoven strip 45 such that portions of the intermediate nonwoven strip 100 are above portions of the second nonwoven strip 45. The greater the fraction of bent intermediate nonwoven strip 100 and / or interwoven intermediate nonwoven strip 100 with the second nonwoven strip 45, the greater the amount of fluff or expansion of the cleaning wipe 1. From about 30% to about 95%, optionally from about 30% to about 100%, optionally from about 50% to about 95%, optionally from about 50% to about 100%, by number, of the intermediate nonwoven strip 100 may be bent and / or interwoven with the second nonwoven strip 45 such that portions of the intermediate nonwoven strip 100 are above portions of the second nonwoven strip 45.
[0045] Each intermediate nonwoven strip 100 may have an intermediate nonwoven fixed end 105 oriented toward the central bonding portion 35 and extend to an intermediate nonwoven free end 110. Some of the intermediate nonwoven free ends 110 may be oriented toward the longitudinal edge 10. To provide bulk, greater than about 10%, optionally greater than about 20%, optionally greater than about 30%, optionally greater than about 50%, optionally greater than about 70% of the intermediate nonwoven strips 100 by number may be bent so that the intermediate nonwoven free ends 110 are out of plane relative to the intermediate nonwoven fixed ends 105.
[0046] The intermediate nonwoven 95 may be gate-folded and include or have a gate-folded portion 52, which includes an intermediate nonwoven main portion 115 extending across the longitudinal axis L, a pair of intermediate nonwoven fold lines 120 on opposite sides of the longitudinal axis, and a pair of intermediate nonwoven gate portions 125, each of which extends from one of the intermediate nonwoven fold lines 120 toward the central bonding portion 35 and is bonded to the intermediate nonwoven main portion 115. The gate-folded portion 52 in the intermediate nonwoven 95 may provide the intermediate nonwoven strip 100 as a flat, open, deformed, or irregular loop. The bending and / or interweaving of the intermediate nonwoven strip 100 with the second nonwoven strip 45 may cause the loop constituting the intermediate nonwoven strip 100 to be open, partially open, or irregularly deformed. This can cause the intermediate nonwoven 95 to be more lofty and expanded compared to a flat, unlooped intermediate nonwoven strip 100. Optionally, the intermediate nonwoven gate portion 125 can be bonded to the intermediate nonwoven main portion 115 outboard of the central bond portion 35 relative to the longitudinal axis L.
[0047] The intermediate nonwoven main portion 115 can be between the intermediate nonwoven door portion 125 and the second nonwoven 40. The intermediate nonwoven main portion 115 can be between the intermediate nonwoven door portion 125 and the second nonwoven main portion 75. Without being bound by theory, providing an intermediate nonwoven door portion 125 that is folded away from the second nonwoven 40 can reduce the amount of positional control of the various nonwovens required to assemble the cleaning wipe 1 during manufacturing. Optionally, the intermediate nonwoven door portion 125 can be between the intermediate nonwoven main portion 115 and the second nonwoven main portion 75.
[0048] By providing that a portion of the intermediate nonwoven door portion 125 and the intermediate nonwoven main portion 115 adjacent the intermediate nonwoven fold line 120 are not bonded to each other, an open or openable loop may be provided as the intermediate nonwoven strip 100. Such a structure may be an openable or open loop.
[0049] The intermediate nonwoven door portion 125 can extend from the intermediate nonwoven fold line 120 to the intermediate nonwoven door portion end 130. The intermediate nonwoven door portion end 130 can be bonded to the intermediate nonwoven main portion 115.
[0050] The second nonwoven strip 45 and the intermediate nonwoven strip 100 may have the same shape as each other. Optionally, the first nonwoven strip 20 and the second nonwoven strip 45 and the intermediate nonwoven strip 100 may have the same shape as each other. Optionally, one or more of the first nonwoven strip 20, the second nonwoven strip 45 and the intermediate nonwoven strip 100 may be straight, curved, or a combination thereof.
[0051] The cleaning wipe 1 may also include a third nonwoven 135 directly or indirectly joined to the second nonwoven 40 along the central bond portion 35. The third nonwoven 135 may include a plurality of third nonwoven strips 140 extending from a third nonwoven fixed end 145 oriented toward the longitudinal axis L to a third nonwoven free end 150. Along the central bond portion 35, the second nonwoven 40 may be between the first nonwoven 15 and the third nonwoven 135. Optionally, along the central bond portion 35, if an intermediate nonwoven 95 is provided, the intermediate nonwoven 95 may be between the second nonwoven 40 and the third nonwoven 135. Along the central bond portion 35, the third nonwoven 135 may be below the second nonwoven 40 or the optional intermediate nonwoven 95.
[0052] The central bonding portion 35 may extend through the third nonwoven 135 and the optional middle nonwoven 95. The central bonding portion 35 may extend through the second nonwoven 40 and the third nonwoven 135. The central bonding portion 35 may extend through the second nonwoven 40, the middle nonwoven 95, and the third nonwoven 135. The central bonding portion 35 may extend through the first nonwoven 15, the second nonwoven 40, the middle nonwoven 95, and the third nonwoven 135. The central bonding portion 35 may extend through the thickness of the second nonwoven 40 and the third nonwoven 135. The central bonding portion 35 may extend through the thickness of the second nonwoven 40, the middle nonwoven 95, and the third nonwoven 135. The central bonding portion 35 may extend through the thickness of the first nonwoven 15, the second nonwoven 40, the middle nonwoven 95, and the third nonwoven 135, the thickness being parallel to the z-axis Z. The central bond portion 35 may be between the third nonwoven 135 and the optional intermediate nonwoven 95. The central bond portion 35 or a portion thereof may be between the second nonwoven 40 and the third nonwoven 135.
[0053] Each third nonwoven strip 140 may have a third nonwoven fixed end 145 oriented toward the central bonding portion 35 and extend to a third nonwoven free end 150. Some of the third nonwoven free ends 150 may be oriented toward the longitudinal edge 10. Optionally, greater than about 30%, optionally greater than about 50%, optionally greater than about 70% of the third nonwoven strip 140 may be bent so that the third nonwoven free ends 150 are out of plane relative to the third nonwoven fixed ends 145.
[0054] The third nonwoven fixed end 145 can be outside the central bond portion 35. Optionally, the third nonwoven fixed end 145 can be spaced apart from the central bond portion 35.

[0076] The nonwoven material may include bicomponent fibers comprising a 1.7 dtex round polyester staple fiber sheath and a 2.2 dtex round spunbond polypropylene fiber core. The nonwoven material may have a thickness of about 0.5 mm to about 4 mm, optionally about 1 mm to about 2 mm. Optionally, the nonwoven material may include 50 wt% or more of polyethylene terephthalate.
[0077] In order to facilitate manufacturability, it is feasible that the constituent fibers of the first nonwoven 15 and the second nonwoven 40 are different from each other, that is, different from each other in terms of fiber composition. The difference in the fiber composition of the first nonwoven 15 and the second nonwoven 40 can help reduce the tendency of the first nonwoven strip 20 to be unintentionally bonded to the second nonwoven strip 45 when the strip is cut. The first nonwoven 15 may contain more than about 40% by weight, optionally more than about 50% by weight of pulp. Optionally, the second nonwoven may contain more than about 40% by weight, optionally more than about 50% by weight of polyethylene terephthalate. Optionally, the first nonwoven 15 may contain more than about 40% by weight of pulp, and the second nonwoven 40 may be different from the first nonwoven 15. Optionally, the first nonwoven 15 and the intermediate nonwoven 95 may be the same as each other. Optionally, the second nonwoven 40 and the third nonwoven 135 may be the same as each other. Optionally, the second nonwoven 40 may be different from one or more of the first nonwoven 15, the intermediate nonwoven 95, and the third nonwoven 135. Optionally, the first nonwoven comprises a first nonwoven constituent fiber, and the second nonwoven comprises a second nonwoven constituent fiber, and the first nonwoven constituent fiber is chemically different from the second nonwoven constituent fiber.
[0078] Optionally, one or more of the first nonwoven 15, the second nonwoven 40, the intermediate nonwoven 95, the third nonwoven 135, and the fourth nonwoven 175 may be about 20 g / m 2 About 70g / m 2 A microfiber nonwoven, optionally about 60% to about 80% by weight polyethylene terephthalate and 20% to about 40% by weight nylon 6. Optionally, the microfibers may be microfibers comprising about 70% by weight polyethylene terephthalate and about 30% by weight nylon 6.
[0079] The cleaning wipe 1 may further include an egative film 210, which forms at least a portion of a rear surface 215 of the cleaning wipe 1 relative to the first nonwoven fabric 15. The egative film 210 may extend further away from the longitudinal axis L than the central bonding portion 35. The egative film 210 may be a polymer film. The egative film 210 may be a polypropylene film, a polyethylene film, a low-density polyethylene film, etc. The egative film 210 may be a film having about 20 g / m 2 About 80g / m 2 , optionally about 30 g / m 2 About 60g / m 2 , optionally about 45 g / m 2 The backsheet 210 may be a spunlace spunbond nonwoven having a basis weight of about 5 g / m 2 About 100g / m 2The backsheet 210 may be a nonwoven, optionally a spunbond nonwoven.
[0080] The back sheet 210 can be an integral part of the cleaning wipe 1, which can be attached directly or indirectly to the head of the cleaning tool. The back sheet 210 can be fluid-impermeable. The fluid-impermeable back sheet 210 can prevent the liquid collected by the cleaning wipe 1 from wetting the head of the cleaning tool.
[0081] The bottom sheet 210 can be directly attached to the head of the cleaning tool by wrapping the longitudinal edges 10 of the bottom sheet 210 around the longitudinal edges of the head of the cleaning tool and stuffing the wrapped portion into a holder that is part of the head of the cleaning tool. Optionally, the bottom sheet 210 can be directly attached to the head of the cleaning tool by wrapping the longitudinal edges 10 of the bottom sheet 210 around the longitudinal edges of the head of the cleaning tool and pushing the bottom sheet 210 so that the protrusions on the head of the cleaning tool pierce the holes in the bottom sheet 210 and the protrusions anchor the bottom sheet 210 to the head.
[0082] The backsheet 210 may be directly joined to the second nonwoven 40, the intermediate nonwoven 95, the third nonwoven 135, the fourth nonwoven 175, or any one of the component layers presented toward the backsheet 210. The backsheet 210 may be chemically bonded to such component layers.
[0083] Optionally, the cleaning wipe 1 may include a pair of spaced apart attachment members 220 joined to the backsheet 210 on opposite sides of the longitudinal axis L and oriented away from the first nonwoven 15 .
[0084] The attachment member 220 may include a loop material having a plurality of loops. The loops may be loops of constituent fibers or formed loops. The loop material may be a nonwoven material. The attachment member 220 may engage and disengage with a complementary hook material on the head of the cleaning tool. The attachment member 220 and the complementary hook material may be formed of VELCRO.
[0085] The cleaning wipe 1 can be used in combination with a cleaning liquid. In such applications, the cleaning wipe 1 can also be used to collect used cleaning liquid from the floor. In order to provide used cleaning liquid storage, the cleaning wipe 1 may include an absorbent core 225. The absorbent core 225 may be positioned between a fluid acquisition layer 230 and the backing film 210. The fluid acquisition layer 230 may be between the absorbent core 225 and the first nonwoven 15. The fluid acquisition layer 230, the absorbent core 225, and the backing film 210 may extend along the longitudinal axis L.
[0086] The fluid acquisition layer 230 may not be impacted by the central bond portion 35 and the optional outer bonds 37. The central bond portion 35 may not be present in the fluid acquisition layer 230. This may maintain the permeability of the fluid acquisition layer 230. The fluid acquisition layer 230 may be directly bonded to the second nonwoven 40, the intermediate nonwoven 95, the third nonwoven 135, the fourth nonwoven 175, or any one of the component layers presented toward the fluid acquisition layer 230. The fluid acquisition layer 230 may be chemically bonded to such component layers.
[0087] The absorbent core 225 can be an airlaid core. The absorbent core 225 can include cellulose fibers. Optionally, the absorbent core 225 can include absorbent gelling materials. The absorbent core 225 can include multiple layers of material, including a foam layer, a wet-laid cellulose fiber layer, an airlaid cellulose fiber layer, a facial tissue layer, a polypropylene spunbond nonwoven layer, a polyester fiber layer, a bicomponent cellulose layer, and a synthetic fiber layer, etc.
[0088] The absorbent core 225 may extend along the entire length of the cleaning wipe 1 along the longitudinal axis L. Optionally, the absorbent core 225 may extend along about 50% to about 100%, optionally about 50% to 95%, of the length of the cleaning wipe 1 along the longitudinal axis L. The absorbent core 225 may have a width orthogonal to the longitudinal axis L of about 20 mm to about 100 mm, optionally about 40 mm to about 60 mm. The width of the absorbent core 225 may be less than the spacing between the attachment members 220. The absorbent core 225 may have a width of about 15 mm to about 80 mm, optionally about 30 mm to about 60 mm, optionally about 40 mm to about 50 mm.
[0089] The absorbent core 225 may not be impacted by the central bond portion 35 and the optional outer bonds 37. The central bond portion 35 may not be present in the absorbent core 225. This may maintain the absorbent capacity of the absorbent core 225. The absorbent core 225 may be chemically bonded to the fluid acquisition layer 230. The absorbent core 225 may be chemically bonded to the backsheet 210.
[0090] The fluid acquisition layer 230 and the backsheet 210 may be joined to each other along their longitudinal edges 10 outside the longitudinal axis L. The fluid acquisition layer 230 and the backsheet 210 may be joined to each other along their respective longitudinal edges 10 by thermal bonds, chemical bonds or crimp bonds.
[0091] A practical method for assembling cleaning wipes 1 can be to provide the first nonwoven 15 as a continuous web and the second nonwoven 40 as a continuous web, both of which move in the longitudinal direction. Optionally, the material for forming a chemical bonding thing between the first nonwoven 15 and the second nonwoven 40 can be stacked on the top of the second nonwoven 40 or on the bottom of the first nonwoven 15. The first nonwoven 15 can be placed on the top of the second nonwoven 40, and then for example bonded together by chemical bonding or thermal bonding. If middle nonwoven 95 and / or the 3rd nonwoven 135 and / or the 4th nonwoven 175 and / or additional layers are provided as continuous webs, such as the backing 210 without absorbent cores 225, then these layers and the optional materials for forming a chemical bonding thing therebetween can be stacked in proper order, and then for example bonded together by chemical bonding or thermal bonding. Optionally, the stack of nonwovens may be bonded to each other and, if no fluid acquisition layer 230 and absorbent core 225 are provided, the bonded stack may be bonded to the backsheet 210.
[0092] The fluid acquisition layer 230, the absorbent core 225, and the backsheet 210 can be assembled into a continuous web independently of the nonwoven layer, and then subsequently joined to a wiping assembly of any one or more of the first nonwoven 15 and the second nonwoven 40 and the intermediate nonwoven 95, the optional third nonwoven 135, and the optional fourth nonwoven 175 and any other additional optional nonwoven layers. The wiping assembly can be joined to the fluid acquisition layer 230 by a chemical bond or a thermal bond on or along the longitudinal axis L. Once the wiping assembly and the layers of the backsheet 210 or optionally the wiping assembly and the layers of the fluid acquisition layer 230, the absorbent core 225, and the backsheet 210 are assembled and bonded to each other as desired, the assembled continuous web can be cut in the transverse direction to form individual cleaning wipes 1.
[0093] The absorbent core 225 may include a bicomponent cellulose / synthetic airlaid material. The absorbent core 225 may include an airlaid material that is about 85:15 cellulose:bicomponent fiber material. The absorbent core 225 may be a mixture of cellulose fibers and synthetic fibers, wherein the cellulose fibers constitute about 5% to about 100% by weight of the absorbent core 225. The absorbent core 225 may have a viscosity of about 60 g / m 2 About 500g / m 2 , optionally about 60 g / m 2 About 200g / m 2 The absorbent core 225 may have a basis weight of about 135 g / m 2 The basis weight of the airlaid web is 85:15 cellulose:bicomponent fibers.
[0094] With respect to the first nonwoven 15, the second nonwoven 40, the intermediate nonwoven 95, the third nonwoven 135, and the fourth nonwoven 175, one or more or all of these layers may be a single unfolded layer of nonwoven material, such as, for example, a non-limiting example. Figure 3 The strips of the respective layers may be defined by slits or cuts in the longitudinal edges 10 of each of the nonwoven layers.
[0095] The cleaning wipes 1 can be provided to the user as a product 2, which includes a closed container 235 and a plurality of cleaning wipes 1 ( Figure 4 ). The container 235 can hold more than one cleaning wipe 1. The container 235 can be a previously unopened container 235 filled with cleaning wipes 1. The container 235 can be a container from which a cleaning wipe 1 has not yet been removed. The container 235 can be a cardboard or corrugated box or other pulp-based container 235. The container 235 can be a bag comprising pulp, a plastic bag, a plastic bucket, etc. The container 235 can include an intact frangible opening feature 240. The container 235 can be an airtight sealed container 235, as a non-limiting example, a polymer bag or a plastic bucket. The frangible opening feature 240 can be a line of weakness that defines or partially defines a portion of a container wall 245 that will be torn to allow the container 235 to be opened for the first time. The frangible opening feature 240 can be a portion of an adhesive or shrink wrap applied to the container 235 to keep the container 235 in a closed condition until the container 235 is first provided to the user.
[0096] The cleaning wipe 1 contained in the container 235 can be such that greater than about 10%, optionally greater than about 20%, optionally greater than about 30%, optionally greater than about 50%, optionally greater than about 70% of the second nonwoven strip 45 by number is bent so that the second nonwoven free end 54 is out of plane relative to the second nonwoven fixed end 50. Optionally, the cleaning wipe 1 contained in the container 235 can be such that greater than about 10%, optionally greater than about 20%, optionally greater than about 30%, optionally greater than about 50%, optionally greater than about 70% of the second nonwoven strip 45 by number is interwoven with the first nonwoven strip 20 so that a portion of the second nonwoven strip 45 is above a portion of the first nonwoven strip 20. Optionally, the cleaning wipe 1 contained in the container 235 can be such that greater than about 10%, optionally greater than about 20%, optionally greater than about 30%, optionally greater than about 50%, optionally greater than about 70% by number of the first nonwoven strip 20 is bent so that the first nonwoven free end 30 is out of plane relative to the first nonwoven fixed end 25 to provide loft to the cleaning wipe 1. Optionally, greater than about 10%, optionally greater than about 20%, optionally greater than about 30%, optionally greater than about 50%, optionally greater than about 70% by number of the intermediate nonwoven strip 100 can be bent and / or interwoven with the second nonwoven strip 45 so that portions of the intermediate nonwoven strip 100 are above portions of the second nonwoven strip 45.
[0097] Thus, the cleaning wipes 1 are fully fluffed or expanded when they are packaged into the container 235 and are immediately ready for effective use when removed from the container 235. This can simplify the use of the cleaning wipes 1 and improve their performance because the user does not have to take any steps or actions to fluff or expand the cleaning wipes 1 prior to use, which may be steps or actions that the user may forget, skip, or inadequately perform.
[0098] In order to provide a more compact distribution and storage of the cleaning wipes 1, each cleaning wipe 1 can be folded orthogonally to the longitudinal axis L ( Figure 5 ). Optionally, the cleaning wipe 1 is folded about a folding axis F orthogonal to the longitudinal axis L, and portions of the first nonwoven 15 on opposite sides of the folding axis F may face each other. The cleaning wipe 1 may be double-folded across the longitudinal axis L, optionally with the double fold positioned equidistant from the transverse edge 5.
[0099] Optionally, the first nonwoven strip 20 may have a first color and the second nonwoven strip 45 may have a second color ( Figure 6 ). The first color may be different from the second color. The first color and the second color may be measured by a Hunter reflectometer test based on the color L*, a* and b*, and the color difference is measured using the L*, a* and b* values by the formula ΔE=[(L*X -L* Y ) 2 +(a* X -a* Y ) 2 +(b* X -b* Y ) 2 ] 1 / 2 Calculate , where X represents the first nonwoven strip 20 and Y represents the second nonwoven strip 45 , wherein the ΔE between the first nonwoven strip 20 and the second nonwoven strip 45 is at least about 1.
[0100] The reflected color was measured using a Hunter Lab LabScan XE reflectance spectrophotometer obtained from Hunter Associates Laboratory of Reston, Virginia, United States of America. The color of the first nonwoven strip 20 and the second nonwoven strip 45 was tested at an ambient temperature between 18° C. and 24° C. and a relative humidity between 50% and 80%.
[0101] The spectrophotometer was set to the CIELab color scale and had D65 illumination. The observer was set to 10° and the mode was set to 45 / 0°. The area view was set to 0.125"; and the port size was set to 0.20". The spectrophotometer was calibrated prior to sample analysis using the black glass and white reference tiles supplied by the supplier with the instrument. Calibration was done according to the manufacturer's instructions as set forth in the LabScan XE User Manual, Manual Version 1.1, August 2001, A60-1010-862. If the reference tile or sample requires cleaning, only tissue paper that does not contain embossing, lotion, or brightener (e.g., PUFFS tissue paper) should be used. Any sample point on the corresponding strip containing the color to be analyzed may be selected.
[0102] Place the corresponding strip on the sample port of the spectrophotometer and place the white fixture disk behind the corresponding strip.
[0103] The respective strip is removed and repositioned so that a minimum of six strip color readings are taken. If possible (e.g., the size of the assigned color on the respective strip in question does not limit the ability to have six discretely distinct, non-overlapping sample points), each of the readings is performed at a substantially different area on the respective strip so that no two sample points overlap. If the size of the respective strip requires overlap of the sample points, only six samples should be taken, with the sample points selected to minimize overlap between any two sample points. The readings are averaged to produce reported L*, a*, and b* values for the assigned color on the external visible surface of the respective strip.
[0104] If the ΔE is greater than about 1, the first color and the second color are considered to have different colors. Optionally, if the ΔE is greater than about 10, the first color and the second color may be considered to have different colors. Optionally, if the ΔE is greater than about 30, optionally greater than about 50, the first color and the second color may be considered to have different colors.
[0105] Optionally, the first nonwoven strip 20 may have a first color, the second nonwoven strip 45 may have a second color, and the intermediate nonwoven strip 100 may have a third color. The second color may be different from the first color, and the second color may be different from the third color. Optionally, the second color may be different from at least one of the first color and the third color. The second color may be measured as described above. The third color may be measured as described above for the first nonwoven strip 20, wherein the measurement performed on the third nonwoven strip 140 replaces the measurement performed on the first nonwoven strip 20. The intermediate nonwoven strip 100 may have a third color, and the second nonwoven strip 45 has a second color. The third color and the second color are measured according to the color L*, a* and b* by the Hunter reflectometer test. The third color and the second color may have L*, a* and b* values by the formula ΔE=[(L* z -L* Y ) 2 +(a* z -a* Y ) 2 +(b* z -b* Y ) 2 ] 1 / 2Calculated color difference, where Z represents the middle nonwoven strip 100, and Y represents the second nonwoven strip 45. The ΔE between the middle nonwoven strip 100 and the second nonwoven strip 45 can be greater than 10. If ΔE is greater than about 10, the second color and the third color can be considered to have different colors. Optionally, if ΔE is greater than about 10, the second color and the third color can be considered to have different colors. Optionally, if ΔE is greater than about 30, the second color and the third color can be considered to have different colors. Optionally, if ΔE is greater than about 50, the second color and the third color can be considered to have different colors.
[0106] The color difference between the first nonwoven strip 20 and the second nonwoven strip 45 and optionally between the second nonwoven strip 45 and the third nonwoven strip 140 can help the user identify that the cleaning wipe 1 is sufficiently fluffy or expanded. The color difference between the corresponding strips allows the user to see the interweaving or overlapping of the corresponding strips. If all the corresponding strips have the same color, such as white, it may be difficult for the user to see that the strips are interwoven with each other and it is difficult to understand whether the cleaning wipe 1 is sufficiently fluffy or expanded to the desired degree.
[0107] Nonwoven layer as herein described and nonwoven part can be bonded to each other by thermal bonding.Optionally, nonwoven layer and nonwoven part can be bonded to each other by chemical bonding.Chemical bonding comprises adhesive.Bond can be continuous bonding, such as line bonding, or intermittent bonding, wherein bonding is spaced apart from each other. For example, center bonding portion 35 and optionally outer bonding 37 can be continuous line bonding extending continuously between transverse edge 5.Optionally, center bonding portion 35 and optionally outer bonding 37 can be intermittent bonding.Intermittent bonding can be multiple discrete bondings spaced apart from each other with regular or irregular pattern, and its assembly extends or extends substantially between transverse edge 5.
[0108] The cleaning wipe 1 may be provided by comprising a cleaning wipe as described herein and by Figure 7The method of packaging the cleaning wipe 1 shown in the non-limiting example in the figure. The cleaning wipe 1 may be initially in a condition in which the strips of various nonwovens are not interwoven with each other. The cleaning wipe 1 may be moved in a direction aligned with the longitudinal axis L. The strips of various nonwovens may be bent or interwoven with each other manually or in the following manner: the gas 251 is moved from the position 250 on the opposite side of the longitudinal axis L toward each longitudinal edge 10 and exceeds the longitudinal edge 10, thereby bending the second nonwoven strip 45 so that the second nonwoven free end 54 is out of plane relative to the second nonwoven fixed end 50 to make the cleaning wipe 1 fluffy. The strips of various nonwovens may be bent or interwoven with each other in the following manner: the gas is moved from the position 250 on the opposite side of the longitudinal axis L toward the longitudinal axis L and exceeds the longitudinal edge 10, thereby bending the second nonwoven strip 45 so that the second nonwoven free end 54 is out of plane relative to the second nonwoven fixed end 50 to make the cleaning wipe 1 fluffy. Optionally, moving the gas 251 from a position 250 on opposite sides of the longitudinal axis L toward each longitudinal edge 10 and beyond the longitudinal edge 10 can interweave the first nonwoven strip 20 and the second nonwoven strip 45 to form a fluffy cleaning wipe 1. The gas 251 can be moved by blowing the gas 251 from the position 250 or by sucking the gas 251 toward the longitudinal axis L through a vacuum conduit located above the longitudinal axis L. The fluffy cleaning wipe 1 can be placed in a container 235, and the container 235 can be closed.
[0109] The location 250 may include blowers 252 directed individually toward the opposing longitudinal edges 10. The blowers 252 may include nozzles to direct the flow of gas 251.
[0110] Position 250 may be coplanar with the longitudinal axis L and transverse axis T of the cleaning wipe 1 outside the longitudinal edge 10. There may be two or more such positions. Optionally or additionally, position 250 may be disposed above the plane defined by the longitudinal axis L and transverse axis T of the cleaning wipe and outside the longitudinal edge 10. Two or more such elevations may be present relative to and outside the longitudinal edge 10. Gas 251 may be directed at an angle relative to the plane defined by the longitudinal axis L and transverse axis T of the cleaning wipe 1. In a practical arrangement, gas 251 may move across the longitudinal edge 10 in a plane defined by the longitudinal axis L and transverse axis T of the cleaning wipe 1. Optionally or additionally, gas 251 may move at an angle relative to the plane defined by the longitudinal axis L and transverse axis T of the cleaning wipe 1 across the longitudinal edge 10. That is, gas 251 may move at an angle relative to the cleaning wipe 1 across the longitudinal edge 251. This arrangement can help lift the strip of various nonwoven materials out of the plane of the cleaning wipe through the Venturi effect.
[0111] The gas 251 may be provided at a pressure of about 1 bar to about 6 bar, optionally about 2 bar to about 4 bar.
[0112] Optionally, before fluffy cleaning wipe 1 is placed in container 235, fluffy cleaning wipe 1 can be folded around the folding axis F that is orthogonal to longitudinal axis L. Fluffy cleaning wipe 1 can be folded into so that the part of first nonwoven 15 on opposite sides of folding axis F can face each other. This arrangement can keep and protect the fluffy structure of folding inside, because various nonwoven strips can interlock or intermesh to a certain extent, and this can contribute to reduce the possibility that strip falls back to the part of nonwoven extending from it with strip more coplanar. In addition, because the fluffy surface of the cleaning wipe 1 of adjacent packing does not contact each other basically, therefore can pack compactly more easily. In the arrangement that first nonwoven 15 on opposite sides of folding axis F deviate from each other therein, various nonwoven strips can tend to fall back to the part of nonwoven extending from it with strip more coplanar.
[0113] The folding may be done manually or by using a machine designed for this purpose. Optionally, the cleaning wipe 1 may be folded so that the portion of the first nonwoven 15 on the opposite side of the fold axis F is on the outside of the fold, which may be an easier folding process to achieve.
[0114] As a part of the process of bending various nonwoven strips or interweaving various nonwoven strips, the cleaning wipe 1 can be moved from the first interlayer belt conveyor 255 to the second interlayer belt conveyor 260. Position 250 can be at the downstream of the first interlayer belt conveyor 255 and the upstream of the second interlayer belt conveyor 260. When the cleaning wipe 1 is transferred to the second interlayer belt conveyor 260 downstream from the first interlayer belt conveyor 255, the part of the cleaning wipe 1 between the first interlayer belt conveyor 255 and the second interlayer belt conveyor 260 can be unrestricted in the direction orthogonal to the longitudinal axis L. By leaving the plane of the cleaning wipe 1 without restriction, the layers of the strip can be manipulated outside the plane of the cleaning wipe 1. The gas 251 moving towards the longitudinal edge 10 can bend the nonwoven strip of nonwoven, and / or lift, and / or vibrate, which can cause the nonwoven strips of different nonwovens to be bent and / or interweave with each other. One or both of the first and second interlayer belt conveyors 255 and 260 may control the position of the cleaning wipe 1 and restrict movement of the cleaning wipe 1 in a lateral direction orthogonal to the longitudinal axis L as the gas 251 moves toward the longitudinal edge 10 .
[0115] The cleaning wipe 1 can have a wipe length WL along the longitudinal axis L. When moving the air toward each longitudinal edge 10, the first interlayer belt conveyor 255 and the second interlayer belt conveyor 260 can together or individually maintain greater than about 10%, optionally greater than about 20%, optionally greater than about 40%, optionally greater than about 60%, optionally greater than about 80% of the length of the cleaning wipe 1.
