Abstract
Description
Technical Field

[0002] A secondary battery is a battery that converts electrical energy into chemical energy and stores it so that it can be repeatedly used through charging and discharging. Secondary batteries are widely used in various industries due to their economic and environmental characteristics. In particular, lithium secondary batteries among secondary batteries are widely used in various industries including portable devices that require high-density energy.
[0003] The working principle of a lithium secondary battery is an electrochemical oxidation-reduction reaction. That is, its principle is to generate electricity through the movement of lithium ions, and to charge through the reverse process. In the case of a lithium secondary battery, the phenomenon in which lithium ions in the anode escape and move through the electrolyte and the separator to the cathode is called discharging. And, the reverse process of this phenomenon is called charging.
[0004] If the positive electrode and the negative electrode come into contact, heat may be generated or a fire may occur. Therefore, active research is being conducted to minimize the possibility of contact between the positive electrode and the negative electrode. Summary of the Invention

[0050] Hereinafter, the present disclosure will be described in detail with reference to the accompanying drawings. However, this is merely exemplary, and the present disclosure is not limited to the specific embodiments described exemplarily.
[0051] The specific terms used in this specification are for convenience of description only and are not used to limit the exemplary embodiments.
[0052] For example, expressions such as "the same" and "identical" not only represent a strictly identical state, but also represent a state in which there is a tolerance or a difference in the degree of obtaining the same function.
[0053] For example, expressions indicating relative or absolute arrangements such as "in a certain direction", "along a certain direction", "parallelly", "perpendicularly", "centered on...", "concentric", or "coaxial" not only strictly represent such arrangements but also represent a state with tolerances or angular or distance relative displacements to achieve the same functional degree.
[0054] To illustrate the present disclosure, the following will be described based on a spatial cylindrical coordinate system in which the r-axis and the Z-axis are orthogonal to each other. Each axis direction (r-axis direction, Z-axis direction) refers to the two side directions in which each axis extends.
[0055] The r-axis direction and the Z-axis direction mentioned below are used to illustrate for a clearer understanding of the present disclosure. Of course, according to different references, each direction can be defined differently.
[0056] The use of terms such as "first", "second", "third", etc. before the components mentioned below is only to avoid confusion about the components they refer to and has nothing to do with the order, importance, or master-slave relationship between the components. For example, the present disclosure may include only the second component without including the first component.
[0057] The terms used in the present disclosure are for explaining specific embodiments and are not intended to limit the scope of the claims. As used in the description of the embodiments and the appended claims, unless the context clearly indicates otherwise, the singular form includes the plural form.
[0058] Figure 1 Fig. 16 shows a cell 100 according to an embodiment of the present disclosure. Figure 2 Fig. 18 shows a cross-section of the cell 100 according to an embodiment of the present disclosure.
[0059] The cell 100 of the present disclosure includes: an electrode assembly 10 including a first electrode 11 and a second electrode 12 having a polarity different from that of the first electrode 11; a can 20 that houses the electrode assembly 10 in an internal accommodation space 25 and includes an upper end portion 21 formed with a through hole 213; an electrode terminal 40 inserted into the through hole 213 and electrically connected to the first electrode 11; and an insulating member 50 including: a cover portion 51 having a disc shape, covering the upper surface of the accommodation space 25 and including an insertion hole 511 corresponding to the through hole 213; and an extension portion 53 extending from the insertion hole 511 toward the upper end portion 21.
[0060] The cell 100 may be a secondary battery that can be reused by charging and discharging electric energy. For example, the cell 100 may be a lithium secondary battery or a lithium-ion battery, but is not limited thereto. As another example, the cell 100 may be a all-solid-state battery.
[0061] The battery cell 100 can be classified into a pouch secondary battery, a prismatic secondary battery, or a cylindrical secondary battery according to its shape. Referring to Figure 1 , for the sake of convenience of description, in this specification, a cylindrical secondary battery is taken as an example, but it is not limited thereto.
[0062] The battery cell 100 may include an electrode assembly 10. The electrode assembly 10 may include a first electrode 11 and a second electrode 12. The first electrode 11 and the second electrode 12 may have different polarities. In an embodiment, the first electrode 11 may be a positive electrode, and the second electrode 12 may be a negative electrode. In another embodiment, the first electrode 11 may be a negative electrode, and the second electrode 12 may be a positive electrode. The electrode assembly 10 can convert chemical energy into electrical energy through the redox reaction of the first electrode 11 and the second electrode 12.
[0063] The electrode assembly 10 may be formed by laminating the first electrode 11 and the second electrode 12. In an embodiment, the first electrode 11 and the second electrode 12 may be stacked in sequence and then wound from one end of the stacked first electrode 11 and second electrode 12 to the other end. The electrode assembly 10 may have a jelly roll shape including a central hole 10h. The central hole 10h may be formed at one end where the first electrode starts to wind.
[0064] Referring to Figure 2 , the central hole 10h may be formed in the center of the electrode assembly 10. The central hole 10h may extend along the height direction of the can 20 (for example, the Z-axis direction).
[0065] The battery cell 100 may further include a separator (not shown). The separator may be located between the first electrode 11 and the second electrode 12 to block the contact between the first electrode 11 and the second electrode 12. The type of the separator is not particularly limited, but may include a porous polymer film. For example, the separator may include a porous polymer film or a porous non-woven fabric.
[0066] The battery cell 100 may further include an electrolyte. The electrolyte may be a medium for transporting ions or current between the first electrode 11 and the second electrode 12. The electrolyte may be a non-aqueous electrolyte. The electrolyte solution may contain a lithium salt and an organic solvent.
[0067] The battery cell 100 includes a can 20. An accommodation space 25 may be formed inside the can 20. The electrode assembly 10 may be accommodated in the accommodation space 25 of the can 20. The can 20 can protect the electrode assembly 10 from external impact or heat. In an embodiment, the can 20 may be manufactured by a deep drawing method.
[0068] The can 20 may have the shape of a container with an open side. In an embodiment, the can 20 may be formed in a cylindrical shape. The can 20 may contain materials such as various metals like iron and aluminum, alloys combining them, plastics, ceramics, or carbon.
[0069] In an embodiment, the can 20 may include an upper end portion 21. The upper end portion 21 and the lower end portion may be one of the end portions in the height direction (e.g., the Z-axis direction) of the can 20.
[0070] The can 20 may further include a side portion 23. The side portion 23 may be formed by bending from the upper end portion 21. The side portion 23 may connect one end and the other end of the can 20. On the other hand, in this specification, the height direction of the can 20 may refer to the direction parallel to the Z-axis direction.
[0071] At least a part of the upper end portion 21 may be formed as a flat surface without height change in the horizontal direction (e.g., the r-axis direction). When observed in the height direction of the can 20, the shape of the upper end portion 21 may be circular. However, it is not limited thereto and may be deformed into an ellipse, triangle, quadrilateral, polygon, etc.
[0072] The side portion 23 may extend along the height direction of the can 20 from the edge of the upper end portion 21. In an embodiment, the side portion 23 and the upper end portion 21 may be integrally formed or separately formed from each other.
[0073] In an embodiment, the can 20 may include a beading 27. The beading 27 may be formed on the side portion 23. The beading 27 may be a portion where the side portion 23 bends toward the accommodation space 25 surrounded by the side portion 23. The beading 27 may minimize the movement of the electrode assembly 10 within the accommodation space 25. Refer to Figure 1 , the beading 27 may be formed along the outer circumferential surface of the side portion 23. In another embodiment, the can 20 may not include the beading 27.
[0074] In an embodiment, the can 20 may include an open portion (not shown) on one side. The open portion may be formed on the opposite side of the upper end portion 21 in the height direction of the can 20. For example, if the upper end portion 21 is formed at the upper end of the side portion 23, the open portion may be formed at the lower end of the side portion 23.
[0075] The electrode assembly 10 may be inserted into the accommodation space 25 of the can 20 through the open portion. In an embodiment, after the electrode assembly 10 is inserted into the accommodation space 25, a beading 27 may be formed in an area of the side portion 23 adjacent to the open portion.
[0076] The can 20 includes a through hole 213. The accommodation space 25 and the outside of the can 20 may communicate through the through hole 213. The diameter of the through hole 213 may be smaller than the diameter of the can 20.
[0077] The electrode terminal 40 can be inserted into the through hole 213. By inserting the electrode terminal 40, the through hole 213 can be sealed. In an embodiment, after the electrode assembly 10 is inserted into the interior of the can 20, an electrolyte can be injected into the interior of the can 20. To prevent the electrolyte from discharging through the through hole 213, the electrode terminal 40 can seal the through hole 213.
[0078] The through hole 213 can be formed in the upper end portion 21 of the can 20. Refer to Figure 1 and Figure 2 , the through hole 213 can be formed in the upper end portion 21, and the electrode terminal 40 can be inserted into the through hole 213. In an embodiment, the through hole 213 can be formed at the center of the upper end portion 21 of the can 20. The through hole 213 can be formed parallel to the central hole 10h of the electrode assembly 10 in the height direction.
[0079] The battery cell 100 can further include an electrode current collector plate 60. The electrode current collector plate 60 can be electrically connected to the first electrode 11 and the second electrode 12 of the electrode assembly 10, respectively. To this end, the electrode current collector plate 60 can include a conductive material such as copper, gold, silver, or aluminum. In an embodiment, the electrode current collector plate 60 can be circular or disc-shaped.
[0080] The battery cell 100 of the present disclosure can further include: a first electrode current collector plate 61 disposed on the upper surface of the electrode assembly 10 and electrically connected to the first electrode 11, and the cover portion 51 can electrically insulate the first electrode current collector plate 61 and the can 20.
[0081] The electrode current collector plate 60 can be disposed on the upper surface or the lower surface of the electrode assembly 10. In an embodiment, the electrode current collector plate 60 can be disposed on the upper surface and the lower surface of the electrode assembly 10, respectively, in the height direction of the can 20.
[0082] The electrode current collector plate 60 can include at least one of a first electrode current collector plate 61 and a second electrode current collector plate 62. The first electrode current collector plate 61 can be disposed between the upper end portion 21 and the electrode assembly 10. The second electrode current collector plate 62 can be disposed between the cover plate 30 and the electrode assembly 10.
[0083] The first electrode current collector plate 61 can be electrically connected to the first electrode 11. Additionally, the first electrode current collector plate 61 can be electrically connected to the electrode terminal 40. The electrode terminal 40 can be electrically connected to the first electrode 11. Therefore, the electrode terminal 40 can have the same polarity as the first electrode 11.
[0084] The second electrode current collector plate 62 can be electrically connected to the second electrode 12. Additionally, the second electrode current collector plate 62 can be electrically connected to the can 20. The can 20 can be electrically connected to the second electrode 12. Therefore, the can 20 can have the same polarity as the second electrode 12.
[0085] Reference Figure 2 As shown in Figure 2 , the first electrode lead 115 can extend from one side of the first electrode 11 and be connected to the first electrode current collector plate 61. Thus, the first electrode 11 can be electrically connected to the first electrode current collector plate 61. The second electrode lead 125 can extend from one side of the second electrode 12 and be connected to the second electrode current collector plate 62. Thus, the second electrode 12 can be electrically connected to the second electrode current collector plate 62.
[0086] The cover plate 30 can seal the can 20. In an embodiment, after the electrode assembly 10 and the electrode current collector plate 60 are accommodated in the accommodation space 25 of the can 20, the cover plate 30 can be coupled to the can 20. In an embodiment, the cover plate 30 can be inserted into the opening portion and coupled to the can 20. That is, the can 20 and the cover plate 30 can surround the outside of the electrode assembly 10 and the electrode current collector plate 60.
[0087] In an embodiment, the shapes of the cover plate 30 and the can 20 coupled to each other can be cylindrical. However, this is only one embodiment, and the shapes of the cover plate 30 and the can 20 coupled to each other can be deformed into various shapes such as a prismatic shape and a hexahedron.
[0088] In an embodiment, the cover plate 30 can be located on the opposite side of the upper end portion 21. For example, when the upper end portion 21 is formed at the upper end of the side portion 23, the cover plate 30 can be coupled to the lower end of the side portion 23.
[0089] Reference Figure 2 As shown in Figure 2 , the second electrode current collector plate 62 of the battery cell 100 and the cover plate 30 can be electrically connected. However, this is only one embodiment, and an insulating washer can be further included between the second electrode current collector plate 62 and the cover plate 30. In this case, the second electrode current collector plate 62 and the cover plate 30 can be electrically insulated. However, it is not limited thereto, and the battery cell 100 of the present disclosure can have various structures in which the can 20 and the second electrode 12 are electrically connected.
[0090] On the other hand, the electrode terminal 40 can be inserted into the through hole 213. Since the electrode terminal 40 has the polarity of the first electrode 11 and the can 20 forming the through hole 213 has the polarity of the second electrode 12, a short circuit may occur when the electrode terminal 40 is inserted into the through hole 213. To prevent this, the battery cell 100 of the present disclosure includes an insulating member 50.
[0091] Figure 3 An insulating member 50 according to an embodiment of the present disclosure is shown.
[0092] The insulating member 50 includes a cover portion 51 and an extension portion 53. The cover portion 51 can cover the upper surface of the accommodation space 25. The cover portion 51 can be disposed at the upper end of the accommodation space 25 within the accommodation space 25. The cover portion 51 can cover the upper surface of the electrode assembly 10. Thus, the cover portion 51 can prevent an electrical connection between the first electrode 11 and the can 20. In an embodiment, the diameter of the cover portion 51 can be larger than the diameter of the electrode assembly 10.
[0093] Referring to Figure 2 , with the central hole 10h as a reference, the outer periphery of the cover portion can be farther from the central hole 10h than the outer periphery of the electrode assembly 10 in the r-axis direction.
[0094] The insulating member 50 can include an insulating material. For example, the insulating member 50 can include polymer materials with high insulation properties such as polyethylene, polyvinyl chloride, natural rubber, polyester, epoxy resin, melamine resin, phenolic resin, polypropylene, polyethylene terephthalate, and polyimide. However, it is not limited thereto, and the insulating member 50 can include materials having electrical insulation characteristics.
[0095] The cover portion 51 can include an insertion hole 511 corresponding to the through hole 213. The cover portion 51 can be disposed below the upper end portion 21 to cover the upper surface of the accommodation space 25. When the cover portion 51 is disposed below the upper end portion 21, the insertion hole 511 can be located at a position corresponding to the through hole 213.
[0096] The electrode terminal 40 can be inserted into the insertion hole 511. The diameter of the insertion hole 511 can be less than or equal to the diameter of the through hole 213. That is, the electrode terminal 40 can be inserted into the through hole 213 after being inserted into the insertion hole 511.
[0097] The cover portion 51 can extend radially with the insertion hole 511 as the center. In an embodiment, the insertion hole 511 can be formed at the center of the cover portion 51. Referring to Figure 3 , the cover portion 51 can extend radially from the insertion hole 511 (for example, it can be the r-axis direction. The r-axis has an azimuth angle (θ) of more than 0° and less than 360°, and can be changed).
[0098] In an embodiment, the thickness of the cover portion 51 can be 0.3 mm to 2.0 mm, but it is not limited thereto.
[0099] The extension portion 53 can extend from the insertion hole 511 toward the upper end portion 21 (for example, the Z-axis direction). In an embodiment, the extension portion 53 can extend in the height direction of the can 20 from an edge formed along the outer periphery of the insertion hole 511. The extension portion 53 can be inserted into the through hole 213. At least a part of the extension portion 53 can be located inside the through hole 213.
[0100] Figures 4 to 6Disclosed is a method for manufacturing a battery cell 100 according to an embodiment of the present disclosure. In Figures 4 to 6 the method for manufacturing the battery cell 100 is described centering around the can 20, the insulating member 50, and the electrode terminal 40, and some components are omitted.
[0101] In the embodiment, the insulating member 50 can be inserted into the interior of the accommodation space 25 through the opening of the can 20. At this time, the through hole 213 and the insertion hole 511 can be provided at corresponding positions. Then, the electrode terminal 40 can apply pressure to the insulating member 50.
[0102] The insulating member 50 can be in contact with the electrode terminal 40 and the upper end portion 21 respectively, and the insulating member 50 can be located between the electrode terminal 40 and the upper end portion 21 to electrically insulate the electrode terminal 40 and the upper end portion 21 from each other.
[0103] The cover portion 51 includes: a first surface 513 facing the accommodation space 25; and a second surface 515 located on the opposite side of the first surface 513, and the second surface 515 contacts the inner surface 215 of the upper end portion of the surface of the upper end portion 21 of the can 20 that faces the accommodation space 25.
[0104] Referring to Figure 4 , the cover portion 51 can be arranged such that the second surface 515 faces the inner surface of the upper end portion 21. The first surface 513 can be in contact with the electrode terminal 40.
[0105] The can 20 can further include a side portion 23 bent from the upper end portion 21, and the cover portion 51 can contact the inner surface 231 of the side portion of the side portion 23 facing the interior. The inner surface 231 of the side portion can be a side surface of the accommodation space 25. The inner surface 231 of the side portion can be a surface facing the accommodation space 25 in the radial direction.
[0106] The side surface portion of the cover portion 51 can contact the inner surface 231 of the side portion. The edge of the side surface portion of the cover portion 51 can be in complete contact with the inner surface 231 of the side portion. In the embodiment, the cover portion 51 can be inserted and combined into the can 20. By the cover portion 51, it is possible to prevent the first electrode lead 115 from contacting the upper end portion 21 of the can 20.
[0107] The inner surface 215 of the upper end portion can not be exposed through the cover portion 51. When the cover portion 51 is arranged in the accommodation space 25, when observing the upper end portion 21 from the accommodation space 25, the inner surface 215 of the upper end portion can not be exposed through the cover portion 51. That is, the entire area of the inner surface 215 of the upper end portion can be covered by the cover portion 51.
[0108] When a part of the inner surface 215 of the upper end portion is exposed, the first electrode lead 115 may come into contact with the inner surface of the upper end portion 21. As a result, the first electrode 11 may be connected to the upper end portion 21 of the can 20 and short-circuited.
[0109] In an embodiment, the can 20, the insulating member 50, and the electrode terminal 40 may be pressed against each other to come into contact. When the electrode terminal 40 is inserted into the insertion hole 511, the cover portion 51 may be in close contact with the upper end portion 21.
[0110] After that, the pressing portion 200 may press the electrode terminal 40. The pressing portion 200 may press the electrode terminal 40 from inside the accommodation space 25 and from outside the can 20, respectively. Refer to Figure 5 , the pressing portion 200 located inside the accommodation space 25 and the pressing portion 200 located outside the can 20 may press the electrode terminal 40.
[0111] A part of the extension portion 53 may be exposed outside the can 20. A part of the electrode terminal 40 and a part of the extension portion 53 may be exposed outside the can 20 through the through hole 213.
[0112] The shapes of the electrode terminal 40 and the insulating member 50 may be changed by pressing. A part of the electrode terminal 40 may extend radially. A part of the extension portion 53 exposed outside the through hole 213 may extend radially with the through hole 213 as the center. This is because the pressing portion 200 presses the electrode terminal 40 and presses the extension portion 53.
[0113] In addition, the cover portion 51 may be formed in parallel with a part of the extension portion 53 exposed outside the through hole 213. Refer to Figure 6 , the cover portion 51 and a part of the extension portion 53 may be formed in parallel along the r-axis direction.
[0114] With this structure, the insulating member 50 may not be separated from the through hole 213. Even if the outer periphery of the cover portion 51 facing the inner surface 231 of the side portion is separated from the inner surface 215 of the upper end portion, since the extension portion 53 is located outside the accommodation space 25, it is possible to prevent the cover portion 51 from being completely separated from the upper end portion 21 of the can 20.
[0115] The extension portion 53 may electrically insulate the electrode terminal 40 from the upper end portion 21. Since the extension portion 53 and the electrode terminal 40 extend radially, respectively, it is possible to prevent contact between the electrode terminal 40 and the outer surface 217 of the upper end portion, which is the opposite surface of the inner surface 215 of the upper end portion. That is, since the extension portion 53 is located between the electrode terminal 40 and the upper end portion 21 of the can 20, it is possible to prevent the electrode terminal 40 from contacting the upper end portion 21 of the can 20.
[0116] Refer to Figure 5 andFigure 6 One end of the extension part 53 can extend along the r-axis direction. In addition, one end of the electrode terminal 40 can extend along the r-axis direction. One end of the extended extension part 53 can be disposed between one end of the extended electrode terminal 40 and the upper end portion 21 of the can 20.
[0117] The cover part 51 can be integrally formed with the extension part 53. Thereby, the possibility of contact between the electrode terminal 40 and the upper end portion 21 can be minimized. In addition, since the manufacturing method of the battery cell 100 can be simplified, the manufacturing efficiency can be improved.
[0118] The electrode terminal 40 can include: a first region 41 located in the accommodation space 25; a second region 42 located outside the can 20; and a third region 43 connecting the first region 41 and the second region 42. At least one of the first region 41 and the second region 42 can extend radially with the third region 43 as the center.
[0119] Referring to Figure 6 , a part of the electrode terminal 40 can be located in the accommodation space 25, while another part can be located outside the can 20. In addition, the electrode terminal 40 located in the accommodation space 25 and the electrode terminal 40 located outside the can 20 can be connected to each other. They can be the first region 41, the second region 42, and the third region 43 of the electrode terminal 40 respectively.
[0120] In an embodiment, the electrode terminal 40 can include a first region 41, a third region 43, and a second region 42 arranged in sequence (or in the reverse direction) along the height direction of the can 20.
[0121] At least one of the first region 41 and the second region 42 can extend radially with the third region 43 as the center.
[0122] In an embodiment, when the first region 41 extends, the diameter of the extended first region 41 can be larger than the diameter of the through hole 213. When the second region 42 extends, the diameter of the extended second region 42 can be larger than the diameter of the through hole 213. With this structure, the electrode terminal 40 is not likely to separate from the through hole 213 after being inserted into the through hole 213.
[0123] The first region 41, the second region 42, and the third region 43 can be in contact with the insulating member 50 respectively. The insulating member 50 can be in contact with a part of the electrode terminal located in the accommodation space 25, a part of the electrode terminal located outside the can 20, and a part of the electrode terminal 40 connecting the two. Thereby, the insulating member 50 can prevent the electrode terminal 40 from contacting the upper end portion 21 of the can 20.
[0124] Figure 7 andFigure 8 The appearance of the can and the electrode terminal as viewed from the upper and lower parts are respectively shown. Figure 6 Specifically, Figure 7 The appearance as viewed from the upper part (Z-axis direction) of the can is shown, Figure 8 The appearance as viewed from the lower part (Z-axis direction) of the can is shown.
[0125] Referring to Figure 7 , the extension part 53 can extend in the radial direction (for example, the r-axis direction) with the through hole 213 as a reference. In addition, the electrode terminal 40 can extend in the radial direction with the through hole 213 as a reference. At this time, the outer circumference of the extension part 53 can be farther from the through hole 213 in the radial direction than the outer circumference of the electrode terminal 40. Thus, the extension part 53 can prevent the electrode terminal 40 from contacting the upper end part 21 of the can 20.
[0126] Referring to Figure 8 , the cover part 51 can extend in the radial direction (for example, the r-axis direction) with the through hole 213 as a reference. The outer circumference of the cover part 51 can contact the side part 23 of the can 20. Thus, the cover part 51 can cover the inner surface 215 of the upper end part of the can 20 and can prevent the first electrode 11 from being electrically connected to the upper end part 21 of the can 20.
[0127] Figure 9 The insulating part 50 according to another embodiment of the present disclosure is shown, Figures 10 to 12 The manufacturing method of the battery cell 100 according to another embodiment of the present disclosure is shown.
[0128] According to another embodiment of the present disclosure, the cover part 51 and the extension part 53 can be manufactured separately. The extension part 53 can be inserted into the insertion hole 511. Referring to Figure 9 , the cover part 51 can be formed in a disc shape.
[0129] The extension part 53 can include: an extension support part 533 formed parallel to the cover part 51; and an extension main body part 531 extending upward from the extension support part 533, and the extension main body part 531 can be inserted into the insertion hole 511.
[0130] In the embodiment, the extension support part 533 can be formed in a disc shape, and the extension main body part 531 can be formed in a cylindrical shape.
[0131] The extension main body part 531 can extend upward (for example, in the Z-axis direction) from the extension support part 533. The diameter of the extension main body part 531 can be less than or equal to the diameter of the extension support part 533. Referring to Figure 9 , the extension main body part 531 can be inserted into the insertion hole 511 of the cover part 51. For this purpose, the diameter of the extension main body part 531 can be less than the diameter of the insertion hole 511.
[0132] The extended main body portion 531 may include an extended hole 535. The extended hole 535 may be a hollow portion inside the extended main body portion 531. The electrode terminal 40 may be inserted into the extended hole 535.
[0133] In an embodiment, after inserting the cover portion 51 into the accommodation space 25, the extension portion 53 may be inserted into the insertion hole 511. Then, the electrode terminal 40 may be inserted into the extended hole 535. The electrode terminal 40 may penetrate through the extended hole 535, the insertion hole 511, and the through hole 213.
[0134] After inserting the cover portion 51, the extension portion 53, and the electrode terminal 40, the electrode terminal 40 may be pressed so that the upper end portion 21 of the can 20, the cover portion 51, the extension portion 53, and the electrode terminal 40 are in close contact.
[0135] Referring to Figure 10 and Figure 11 , the second surface 515 of the cover portion 51 may contact the inner surface 215 of the upper end portion, and the first surface 513 of the cover portion 51 may contact the extension portion 53. The extension support portion 533 may be located below the cover portion 51. The extension support portion 533 may contact the first surface 513 of the cover portion.
[0136] After that, the pressing portion 200 may press the electrode terminal 40. As described above, the pressing portion 200 may be respectively provided inside the accommodation space 25 and outside the can 20. The pressing portion 200 located inside the accommodation space 25 and the pressing portion 200 located outside the can 20 may press the electrode terminal 40 respectively. Through the pressing portion 200, the electrode terminal 40 and the extension portion 53 may extend radially.
[0137] In an embodiment, one end of the extended main body portion 531 may be bent. One end of the bent extended main body portion 531 may extend radially.
[0138] Referring to Figure 12 , the cover portion 51 and the extension portion 53 may be located between the electrode terminal 40 and the upper end portion 21 of the can 20. More specifically, a part of the extended main body portion 531 may be located between the second region 42 of the electrode terminal 40 and the upper end portion 21 of the can 20. Thus, the electrical connection between the electrode terminal 40 and the can 20 can be prevented.
[0139] A part of the cover portion 51 may be located between the extension support portion 533 and the upper end portion 21 of the can. With this structure, damage to the cover portion 51 can be prevented. That is, even if the cover portion 51 is pressed, since the second surface 515 of the cover portion 51 contacts the inner surface 215 of the upper end portion evenly, the possibility of tearing or breaking due to pressing can be minimized. In addition, since no empty space is formed between the cover portion 51 and the upper end portion 21, the energy density of the battery cell can be increased.
[0140] When the lid part 51 is separated from the upper end part 21, the electrolyte can be located in the space formed by the separation. In addition, the contact force between the lid part 51 and the upper end part 21 may decrease, and the electrolyte may easily leak to the outside of the can 20.
[0141] In addition, the lid part 51 and the extension part 53 of the present disclosure can have high structural stability. Referring to Figure 12 , one end of the lid part 51 adjacent to the insertion hole 511 can be supported by the extension support part 533.
[0142] One end of the extension part 53 is located outside the can 20, and the other end is located in the accommodation space 25. Therefore, even if a downward pressure is applied to the other end, it can be supported by the end located outside the can 20. In an embodiment, the extension main body part 531 can be located outside the can 20, and the extension support part 533 can be located in the accommodation space.
[0143] Even if one end of the lid part 51 moves downward (for example, in the Z-axis direction), it can be supported by the extension support part 533, and the lid part 51 will not separate from the upper end part 21 of the can.
[0144] In addition, even if the lid part 51 and the extension part 53 are not integrally formed as described above, the structural stability can be improved. Since one end of the extension part 53 can be bent and stably fixed outside the through hole 213, even if the lid part 51 moves downward, the movement of the lid part 51 can be restricted.
[0145] Figure 13 and 14 respectively show the appearances of the can and the electrode terminal 40 observed from above and below. Specifically, Figure 12 shows the appearance observed from the upper part (Z-axis direction) of the can 20, Figure 13 and Figure 14 shows the appearance observed from the lower part (Z-axis direction) of the can 20.
[0146] Referring to Figure 13 , the extension main body part 531 can extend radially (for example, in the r-axis direction) centering on the through hole 213, and the electrode terminal 40 can also extend radially (for example, in the r-axis direction) centering on the through hole 213.
[0147] The outer circumference of the extension main body part 531 can be farther from the through hole 213 radially than the outer circumference of the electrode terminal 40. Thus, the extension main body part 531 can prevent the electrode terminal 40 from contacting the upper end part 21 of the can 20.
[0148] Even if the lid part 51 and the extension part 53 are separately formed, the appearance observed from the upper part of the can 20 can be the same as that when the lid part 51 and the extension part 53 are integrally formed.
[0149] On the other hand, referring to Figure 14 , the lid portion 51 may overlap with the extension support portion 533. The lid portion 51 may extend radially with the through hole 213 as the center, and the extension support portion 533 may also extend radially with the through hole 213 as the center. In addition, at least a part of the extension support portion 533 may be located between the first region 41 of the electrode terminal 40 and the lid portion 51. In addition, the first surface 513 of the lid portion 51 may be in contact with the extension support portion 533.
[0150] Figure 15 is a flowchart of a manufacturing method of the battery cell 100 according to an embodiment of the present disclosure.
[0151] Hereinafter, referring to Figure 15 a manufacturing method of the battery cell 100 according to an embodiment of the present disclosure will be described.
[0152] The manufacturing method of the battery cell 100 of the present disclosure includes: a step (S10) of inserting the insulating member 50 into the through hole 213; and a step (S30) of pressing the insulating member 50 located in the accommodation space 25 and the insulating member 50 located outside the can 20, respectively.
[0153] In the manufacturing method of the battery cell 100 of the present disclosure, the step (S10) of inserting the insulating member 50 into the through hole 213 may be first performed. After that, the manufacturing method of the battery cell 100 of the present disclosure may perform the step (S30) of pressing the insulating member 50 located in the accommodation space 25 and the insulating member 50 located outside the can 20, respectively.
[0154] The step (S10) of inserting the insulating member 50 may include: a step (S11) of bringing the lid portion 51 into contact with the inner surface 215 of the upper end portion 21 of the surface of the upper end portion 21 facing the accommodation space 25; and a step (S13) of inserting the extension portion 53 into the insertion hole 511.
[0155] The manufacturing method of the present disclosure may first perform the step (S11) of bringing the lid member 51 into contact with the inner surface of the upper end portion 21 of the surface of the upper end portion 21 facing the accommodation space 25. After that, the manufacturing method of the present disclosure may include the step (S13) of inserting the extension portion 53 into the insertion hole 511.
[0156] On the other hand, in the step (S13) of inserting the extension portion 53 into the insertion hole 511, at least a part of the extension portion 53 may be exposed outside the through hole 213. Thus, when the electrode terminal 40 is pressed, the extension portion 53 is extended after being pressed together with the electrode terminal 40.
[0157] In addition, in the step (S30) of applying pressure to the insulation member 50 separately, a part of the extension portion 53 exposed to the outside of the through hole 213 may extend radially around the through hole 213. Thus, the extension portion 53 can prevent the electrode terminal 40 from contacting the upper end portion 21 of the can.
[0158] The present disclosure can be modified and implemented in various forms, and the scope of rights of the present disclosure is not limited to the above embodiments. The above content is only an example of applying the principle of the present disclosure, and other configurations may also be included without departing from the scope of the present invention.
