AI Technical Summary
Existing hybrid drive systems face limitations in housing rigidity and strength due to the use of aluminum alloys, leading to increased thickness requirements for intermediate walls, complex manufacturing processes, and material waste in cooling liquid sleeves.
A hollow housing with an integrated cooling arrangement using a steel cooling liquid sleeve and a Z-shaped cross-section design, manufactured via deep-drawing, eliminates the intermediate wall and enhances stiffness and strength, allowing for reduced thickness and improved material utilization.
The solution improves the structural integrity and simplifies manufacturing while reducing the axial length and material waste, enhancing the performance and efficiency of the electric drive module.

Abstract
Description
field of technology
[0001] This invention relates to the field of vehicles, more particularly to a hybrid drive system, and provides an electric drive module and a hybrid drive system. State of the art
[0002] In the course of developing hybrid vehicles, a variety of hybrid drive systems have already been developed. LuK, a company within the Schaeffler Group, developed a P2 hybrid drive system that includes an electric drive module located between the engine and the transmission. Such an electric drive module comprises a housing, an electric motor, a coolant sleeve, and a clutch. The electric drive module is coupled to the engine via the clutch, and the electric motor is coupled to the transmission. The electric motor enables the engine to start and stop.
[0003] The housings of electric drive modules in current P2 hybrid drive systems are hollow structures, usually made of aluminum alloys. To mount the clutch actuator 6, as shown in Fig. 1, a partition 2 is provided in the housing 1, and the partition 2 has an opening available for mounting the actuator 6. The cooling fluid sleeve 3 has tabs 4 at the end opposite the partition 2, which are fastened to one end of the housing 1 by means of fastening bolts 7, and the main body of the cooling fluid sleeve 3 is mounted in the housing by means of the sealing ring 5.
[0004] Since the rigidity and strength of aluminum alloys are limited, the performance of the housing 1 is restricted. To ensure that the housing 1 has sufficient rigidity and strength, the partition wall 2 must have a relatively large thickness. Thus, the axial length of the electric drive module is limited by the thickness of the partition wall 2. Furthermore, since the housing 1 has the partition wall 2, the casting technology of the housing 1 is relatively complicated and costly. In addition, thick-walled pipes are required as raw materials to manufacture the cooling fluid sleeve 3 having the tabs 4, which leads to material waste.
[0005] From DE 10 2012 205 754 A1 an electric drive module is known which can be read in the preamble of claim 1. Subject of the invention
[0006] The object of this invention is to avoid the problems mentioned.
[0007] According to the invention, this object is achieved by an electric drive module according to claim 1 and a hybrid system according to claim 6. Preferred embodiments are set out in the dependent claims.
[0008] According to the invention, an electric drive module is provided which comprises a hollow housing, an electric motor, a cooling arrangement and a clutch, wherein the electric motor and the clutch are mounted in the hollow housing, the cooling arrangement has a bottom wall and a cooling fluid sleeve extending from the bottom wall and integrated therewith, the cooling fluid sleeve has tabs at the end opposite the bottom wall which are fastened to one end of the hollow housing, and the main body of the cooling fluid sleeve is sealingly mounted in the hollow housing by means of a sealing ring, furthermore the bottom wall has an opening and the actuator of the clutch is mounted on the opening.
[0009] In an embodiment according to the invention, the cooling arrangement is manufactured from sheet steel by deep drawing.
[0010] In an embodiment according to the invention, the cooling arrangement is designed as a tubular element with a Z-shaped cross-section and flange.
[0011] Preferably, the tabs have through holes and the fixing bolts can pass through the through holes to fix the tabs to one end of the housing.
[0012] Preferably, holes are provided around the perimeter of the base wall opening, and the mounting bolts can pass through the holes to facilitate the installation of the actuator. This allows the reaction forces required during clutch operation to be absorbed.
[0013] Preferably, the sealing ring is inserted between the inner wall of the housing and the main body of the cooling liquid sleeve.
[0014] According to the invention, a cooling arrangement for an electric drive module is also provided, wherein the cooling arrangement has a bottom wall and a cooling liquid sleeve extending from the bottom wall and integrated therewith, the cooling liquid sleeve has tabs at the end opposite the bottom wall, and the bottom wall also has an opening.
[0015] Preferably, the tabs have through openings.
[0016] According to the invention, a hybrid drive system is also provided which comprises a motor and an above-mentioned electric drive module, wherein one end of the electric drive module is coupled to the motor via the clutch.
[0017] The concept of this invention is that the intermediate wall of the housing of an electric drive module of a traditional P2 hybrid drive system forms an integrated cooling arrangement with a cooling liquid sleeve and a connection is then made between the two parts, cooling arrangement and housing, for example by bolts.
[0018] Since the housing no longer has a partition wall, the invention simplifies the casting technology of the housing. Furthermore, since the cooling assembly is made of steel, the rigidity and strength of the bottom wall of the cooling assembly are increased compared to the partition wall of the traditional housing, allowing a reduction in the thickness of the bottom wall, thereby reducing the axial length of the electric drive module. Furthermore, manufacturing the cooling assembly by deep drawing from sheet steel also increases the utilization rate of the manufacturing materials. Description of the drawings
