Abstract
Description
GENERAL STATE OF THE ART
[0001] The present disclosure relates to a performance component.
[0002] An energy storage system is a system that stores generated electrical energy in interconnection systems, which include a power plant, a substation, a power line and the like, and then uses the electrical energy in a targeted and efficient manner when the electrical energy is needed, thus improving energy efficiency.
[0003] By balancing electrical loads that fluctuate significantly depending on the time of day and year, thus increasing the overall load rate, the energy storage system can help reduce the costs of energy generation units and the investment and operating costs required to build more electricity facilities, thereby lowering electricity costs and saving energy.
[0004] Such an energy storage system was installed and applied in a power generation system, a transmission and distribution system, and in a customer's energy system; it was used for frequency regulation, output stabilization of a power generator using renewable energy, peak load reduction, and load balancing, and applied in an emergency power source.
[0005] The energy storage system is roughly divided into a physical energy storage device and a chemical energy storage device according to a storage device. Examples of the physical energy storage device include devices using pumped storage power generation, compressed air energy storage, a flywheel, and the like, and examples of the chemical energy storage device include devices using a lithium-ion battery, a lead-acid battery, a NaS battery, and the like.
[0006] When electrical energy is needed, such an energy storage system draws electrical energy from it in order to supply it. Therefore, the energy storage system can supply electrical energy evenly.
[0007] Simultaneously, a high-capacity energy storage system can be provided according to the amount of electrical energy consumed by a consumer. A power unit configured to convert a large amount of electrical energy can be provided within the high-capacity energy storage system.
[0008] For example, a power stack for converting direct current (DC) supplied from an external source into alternating current (AC) is disclosed in Korean patent KR 10 2001 0 104 006 A entitled “Inverter power stack using HVIGBT”.
[0009] In related technology, high temperature heat can occur in an energy conversion device (insulated gate bipolar transistor, IGBT) provided in the power section for converting direct current to alternating current, and the performance of the energy conversion device can degrade due to the high temperature heat.
[0010] Therefore, an optimized design of the power section, adapted to efficiently dissipate the high-temperature heat generated in the integrated power supply unit (IGBT), and an air passage for rapid heat dissipation are necessary. DE 10 2010 044 439 A1 relates to a power electronic inverter with at least one fan for generating a cooling airflow. DE 689 20 513 T2 relates to an inverter device that includes, within a housing, a main circuit section (which is a heat source), a logic section, and components with low thermal resistance such as smoothing capacitors, and in particular an actual mounting structure suitable for improving the reliability of a device with a closed or fully enclosed design. US 2011 / 0198064 A1 relates to a cooling structure for an electronic device and, for example, to preventing the ingress of dirt particles into electronic components.DE 10 2008 061 488 A1 refers to a power converter module. DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE EMBODIMENTS
[0041] Related embodiments of the present disclosure are described in more detail below with reference to the accompanying drawings. For ease of writing, the suffixes "-module" and "-unit", which are used for elements of the following description, are assigned to them or used inconsistently and have no inherently distinct meanings or roles.
[0042] If it is determined that detailed descriptions of widely known functions or configurations would make the subject matter of this disclosure unclear, such detailed descriptions will be omitted when describing the embodiments of this disclosure. Furthermore, the following terms, which are defined with respect to the functions in the embodiments of this disclosure, may differ depending on the intention of a user, operator, or customer. Therefore, the definitions should be based on the content in this patent description.
[0043] Fig. Fig. 1 is a front perspective view showing a power part according to the present embodiment, and Fig. 2 is a rear perspective view showing the power part according to the present embodiment.
[0044] With reference to Fig. 1 and Fig. 2. A power unit 1 according to the present embodiment can be used in an energy storage system (ESS). Furthermore, the power unit 1 can have the function of converting direct current generated by a power generator into alternating current, which is the electrical energy commonly used.
[0045] For example, the power generator may include a solar power generator, a wind power generator, a tidal power generator, and the like. Furthermore, this is illustrative, and the power generator is not limited to the types listed above and may include any power generation system that generates electrical energy using renewable energy such as solar thermal or geothermal energy.
[0046] Furthermore, the power unit 1 may be provided in an energy storage system for supplying a relatively large amount of electrical energy. The energy storage system is required to convert the relatively large amount of electrical energy in order to supply the relatively large amount of electrical energy to a consumer location. For this purpose, a plurality of power units 1 may be provided. For example, the plurality of power units 1 may be provided in 250 kW, 500 kW, 1 MW, and 2 MW energy storage systems. Furthermore, the number of power units 1 may vary according to a limit amount of electrical energy that can be converted by the power units 1. Furthermore, depending on various components provided in the power units 1, the limit amount of electrical energy that can be converted by the power units 1 may also be changed.
[0047] A body of the power unit 1 may be formed by frames 10. The frames 10 may be connected to each other to form the polygonal body. Furthermore, the body formed by the frames 10 may be perforated on multiple surfaces thereof. A receiving space may be formed within the body perforated on multiple surfaces.
[0048] Fans 111 may be arranged at a lower end of the frames 10. Further, a fan bracket 11 configured to hold the fans 111 may be provided at the lower end of the frame 10. Further, fan receiving holes 112 in which the fans 111 can be arranged may be provided in the fan bracket 11. The fans 111 can be rotated on the fan receiving holes 112 while being held by the fan bracket 11. The fans 111 can be rotated by motors provided in the fan bracket 11. When the fans 111 are rotated, outside air of the frames 10 can be introduced into the frames 10 through the fan receiving holes 112. Air outlets 101, through which the air introduced into the frames 10 is discharged to the outside by the fans 111, may be provided at an upper end of the frames 10.One or more air outlets 101 can be provided at the upper end of the frames 10. According to the present embodiment, the air outlets 101 can be provided at the upper end of the frames 10 in an open state, or they can be provided in a grid-like configuration with multiple holes.
[0049] This means that the air introduced into the power unit 1 through the fan inlets 112 can be discharged to the outside through the air outlets 101. Accordingly, the heat dissipation capacity of the power unit 1 can be increased.
[0050] Additionally, fans (not shown) can be provided at the upper end of the air outlets 101. These fans (not shown) can be provided at the upper end of the air outlets 101 to force the internal air of the frames 10 to flow outwards. The fans 111 provided at the lower end of the frames 10 can be referred to as "first fans," and the fans (not shown) provided at the upper end of the frames 10 can be referred to as "second fans."
[0051] A heat sink 12 may be provided within the frames 10. Furthermore, the heat sink 12 may be arranged above the fans 111 and the fan mount 11.
[0052] The heat sink 12 can dissipate heat generated by energy conversion elements 14, which are described below, to the outside. The heat sink 12 can have heat dissipation openings 122 (see Fig. 3) comprise openings through which the heat generated by the energy conversion elements 14 is dissipated. The heat dissipation openings 122 can extend through the heat sink 12. Furthermore, the multiple heat dissipation openings 122 can be spaced apart from one another within the heat sink 12. According to the present embodiment, the heat dissipation openings 122 can be arranged in a direction from the lower end of the frames 10 to the upper end of the frames 10.
[0053] Another aspect is that the heat sink 12 can be provided with multiple heat dissipation fins. If the heat sink 12 is provided with multiple heat dissipation fins, the heat dissipation openings 122 can be considered as spaces provided between the multiple heat dissipation fins.
[0054] The heat sink 12 can serve as a support provided within the body formed by the frames 10 to support the frames 10.
[0055] The heat sink 12 can be arranged on one side of the inside of the frame 10. For example, the heat sink 12 can be arranged at the front or rear of the frame 10. In the present embodiment, the arrangement of the heat sink 12 on the rear side of the frame 10 is shown.
[0056] The front side of the frames 10 can refer to a direction in which a busbar assembly 16, described below with reference to the drawing, is installed, i.e., a right side with reference to the drawing. The rear side of the frames 10 can refer to a direction facing the busbar assembly 16 with reference to the drawing, i.e., a left side with reference to the drawing.
[0057] The heat sink 12 can be arranged within the frame 10 to have a predetermined width. Furthermore, the width of the heat sink 12 can be smaller than the width of the frame 10.
[0058] Furthermore, heat sink mounts 121 configured to fix the heat sink 12 to the frame 10 may be connected to the frame 10.
[0059] The heat sink brackets 121 prevent the heat sink 12 from being separated from the outside of the frame 10. Furthermore, the heat sink 12 can be connected to the heat sink brackets 121. The heat sink brackets 121 can also be connected to the frame 10.
[0060] For example, the heat sink brackets 121 can be arranged in a direction in which they cross the heat sink 12, that is, in a left-to-right direction along the frames 10. Furthermore, one end and the other end of the heat sink brackets 121 can be connected to the frames 10. The heat sink 12 can also be connected to the heat sink brackets 121 via fasteners. Inductors 13 can be provided within the frames 10. The inductors 13 can be arranged above the heat sink 12.
[0061] The chokes 13 can also be called induction coils and can maintain a constant current by resisting changes in current. The chokes 13 are divided into AC chokes, DC chokes, and the like, depending on where and how they are used.
[0062] The chokes 13 can keep constant the electrical energy supplied to the power section 1 from the outside, or the electrical energy supplied to the outside from the power section 1.
[0063] Specifically, the reactors 13 can exhibit high resistance to sudden changes in alternating current, direct current, or current due to the accumulation of electromagnetic energy. Therefore, the reactors 13 can be used as a high-frequency filter in a power grid. Furthermore, the reactors 13, which are current-limiting devices, can protect the power grid from temporary overvoltage. Furthermore, the reactors 13 can effectively reduce surge current and peak current, suppress harmonics of the power grid by improving the actual power factor, and improve the performance of an input current waveform. Furthermore, the reactors 13 can improve the distortion of the input current waveform to reduce overheating of capacitors or limit overvoltage of the power grid.
[0064] In general, the chokes 13, which are obtained by winding electrical wires in a cold forming process, can be divided into a type with an iron core and a type with an air core. Furthermore, the chokes 13 can be divided into a type with an air core, a type with a closed iron core, a type with pores, and the like, according to their structure, and they can be divided into a series choke and a parallel choke according to a circuit diagram. The chokes 13 according to the present embodiment are shown in a cylindrical form.
[0065] The throttles 13 may be held by a throttle bracket 131. The throttle bracket 131 may secure sides of the throttles 13. The throttle bracket 131 may further include a throttle holding plate 132 configured to hold the sides of the throttles 13. Furthermore, the throttle bracket 131 and the throttle holding plate 132 may be integrally formed. In other words, the sides of the throttles 13 may be held by the throttle holding plate 132. Further, the throttles 132 may be held by a throttle bracket 131. The throttle bracket 131, which is configured to hold the sides of the throttles 13 and the throttle holding plate 132, may be connected to the frame 10.
[0066] For example, the throttle bracket 131 can be arranged in a direction in which the throttle bracket 131 crosses the heat sink 12, that is, in a left-to-right direction of the frames 10. Furthermore, one end and the other end of the throttle bracket 131 can be connected to the frames 10.
[0067] The energy conversion elements 14 and a printed circuit board 15 can be arranged in the frame 10. The energy conversion elements 14 and the printed circuit board 15 are described with reference to Fig. 3 and Fig. 4 described in more detail.
[0068] The busbar assembly 16, configured to cover the power conversion elements 14 and the printed circuit board 15, can be provided in the frame 10. The busbar assembly 16 can be connected to the printed circuit board 15. Furthermore, the busbar assembly 16 can be connected to some of the chokes 13.
[0069] The busbar assembly 16 may include a busbar configured to carry a high current and a busbar support configured to hold the busbar.
[0070] Generally, the busbar may be provided as a copper busbar. Furthermore, the busbar may be connected to the circuit board 15 so that the circuit board 15 can handle the high current.
[0071] The busbar support may be formed of a material that has excellent electrical insulation. Furthermore, the busbar may be fixed to a surface of the busbar support. The busbar support may be provided in at least one plate shape.
[0072] In other words, the busbar can be attached to at least one surface of the busbar support. Furthermore, the surface of the busbar support to which the busbar is attached can be arranged facing the inside of the frame 10. The busbar is connected to the circuit board 15, the power conversion elements 14, and the like within the frame 10 to transmit current.
[0073] In the busbar assembly 16 according to the present invention, the busbar support is shown exposed to the outside. The busbar is mounted on a surface of the busbar assembly 16 that is not shown.
[0074] The busbar assembly 16 may be arranged on one of the front and rear sides of the frames 10. Furthermore, the busbar assembly 16 may be spaced from the heat sink 12 with respect to the frames 10.
[0075] In other words, the busbar assembly 16 can be arranged in front of the frame 10 if the heat sink 12 is arranged behind the frame 10. Conversely, the busbar assembly 16 can be arranged behind the frame 10 if the heat sink 12 is arranged in front of the frame 10. The busbar assembly 16 according to the present embodiment can, as shown, be arranged in front of the frame 10. At least one section of the printed circuit board 15 between the power conversion elements 14 and the printed circuit board 15, which is covered by the busbar assembly 16, can be covered by the busbar assembly 16. Furthermore, the printed circuit board 15, at least one section of which is covered by the busbar assembly 16, can be connected to the busbar assembly 16. In other words, a section of the busbar assembly 16 can be connected to the printed circuit board 15.
[0076] At the same time, an air duct 18 may also be provided between the heat sink 12 and the fan holder 11 in the frame 10. The air duct 18 may be regarded as a passage through which air introduced into the frame 10 via the fan receiving openings 112 may flow. Furthermore, an air inlet 185 (see Fig. 3) communicating with the fan receiving openings 112 may be provided in the air duct 18. The air inlet 185 and the fan receiving openings 112 may be formed in correspondence with each other. A detailed configuration of the air duct 18 will be described with reference to Fig. 5 described in more detail.
[0077] Fig. Figure 3 shows a perspective exploded view representing the power section according to the present embodiment, and Fig. Figure 4 shows a front view representing a state in which a busbar arrangement of the power section according to the present embodiment has been removed.
[0078] With reference to Fig. 3 and Fig. 4 The energy conversion elements 14, which are configured to convert electrical energy, and the power part 15, which is connected to the energy conversion elements 14, can be provided in the power part 1 according to the present embodiment.
[0079] The energy conversion elements 14 can be arranged in the frame 10. The energy conversion elements 14 can be electrically connected to the circuit board 15. Furthermore, the energy conversion elements 14 can be in contact with the heat sink 12. Heat of a fairly high temperature can be generated by the energy conversion elements 14, which are key components configured for converting electrical energy. Thus, the energy conversion elements 14 are in contact with the heat sink 12 so that the heat generated by the energy conversion elements 14 can be dissipated.
[0080] The energy conversion elements 14 can convert externally supplied direct current into alternating current. The energy conversion elements 14, which are switching elements such as transistors and thyristors, can generate alternating current with a square wave by interrupting the externally supplied direct current. The alternating current with a square wave generated by the energy conversion elements 14 can be stabilized by the inductors 13 and supplied to the point of use.
[0081] One or more energy conversion elements 14 can be provided, depending on the capacity of the externally supplied direct current. For example, the energy conversion elements 14 can be provided as IGBTs. Furthermore, the energy conversion elements 14 can include transistors such as FETs configured to amplify a current or a voltage.
[0082] Each of the energy conversion elements 14 according to the present embodiment can comprise first energy conversion elements 141 and second energy conversion elements 142. The first energy conversion elements 141 and the second energy conversion elements 142 can be identical or different. The multiple first energy conversion elements 141 according to the present embodiment can be somewhat smaller than the second energy conversion elements 142. Furthermore, a second energy conversion element 142 can be provided.
[0083] The circuit board 15 can be connected to the energy conversion elements 14 to form an electrical circuit. Furthermore, the circuit board 15 can be provided as a printed circuit board. A plurality of elements can be provided on the surface of the circuit board 15. Furthermore, the one surface of the circuit board 15 on which the plurality of elements are provided can be arranged toward the inside of the frames 10.
[0084] One side of the circuit board 15 can be attached to the busbar assembly 16. Furthermore, the other side of the circuit board 15 can be attached to the air duct 18. Alternatively, the other side of the circuit board 15 can be connected to the frame 10.
[0085] The circuit board 15 according to the present embodiment can comprise a first circuit board 151 and a second circuit board 152. The first circuit board 151 can be connected to the first energy conversion elements 141. Furthermore, the second circuit board 152 can be connected to the second energy conversion element 142. The circuit board 15 can also comprise several subordinate circuit boards or can be connected to other energy conversion elements 14.
[0086] Simultaneously, in the power section 1, the energy conversion elements 14 and the circuit board 15 can be connected to each other in such a way as to form an energy conversion module. The energy conversion module can comprise the first circuit board 151, the first energy conversion elements 141, the second circuit board 152, and the second energy conversion element 142. Furthermore, depending on the capacity of the electrical energy that can be converted by the power section 1, one or more energy conversion modules can be provided. In the present embodiment, three electrical energy conversion modules are provided.
[0087] Snubbers 17, which pass through sections of the busbar assembly 16 to cover connections that may be exposed to the outside, can be provided in the busbar assembly 16. The snubbers 17 are RC series branches connected to generate a surge voltage or a ringing voltage that can be applied to the chokes 13, the power conversion elements 14, several elements installed on the printed circuit board 15, and the like. Furthermore, the snubbers 17 can incorporate a small inductance used in series to prevent an abrupt change in the voltage flow through the elements. Therefore, the snubbers 17 can be referred to as "load-preventing tools" or "load-preventing fuses."
[0088] Fig. Figure 5 shows a view illustrating an airflow in the power section according to the present embodiment.
[0089] With reference to Fig.5. According to the present embodiment, the air duct 18 can be provided below the frames 10. Furthermore, the air duct 18 can be provided within the frames 10. The air duct 18 can be understood as a passage through which air introduced into the frames 10 can flow.
[0090] The air duct 18 may include a flat plate 181 provided at a lower end of the frames 10. The flat plate 181 may shield an open lower surface of the frames 10. Furthermore, the air inlet 185 communicating with the fan receiving openings 112 may be provided in the flat plate 181. That is, outside air flowing through the fan receiving openings 112 can be introduced into the air duct 18 via the air inlet 185.
[0091] The air duct 18 can include a vertical section 184 that is connected to the flat plate 181 and extends parallel to the frames 10. The vertical section 184 can extend from the flat plate 181 in a vertical direction. Furthermore, the vertical section 184 can be provided to cover opposite faces of the frames 10 and a section of the heat sink 12. In other words, when the flat plate 181 and the vertical section 184 are connected, an open polygon can be provided, of which two faces are connected.
[0092] The air duct 18 can include an inclined section 182 extending from one side of the flat plate 181 and angled such that a portion of the inclined section 182 is inclined. The inclined section 182 can be angled at one end of the flat plate 181. Furthermore, the inclined section 182 can be located on the front or rear side where the vertical section 184 is not present.
[0093] The inclined portion 182 according to the present embodiment is illustrated as being angled in a direction from the right side to the left side of the frames 10. Here, the right side of the frames 10 can be understood as the front side of the power section 1, and the left side of the frames 10 can be understood as the rear side of the power section 1.
[0094] A section of the inclined part 182 can be connected to the heat sink 12. An extension section 183, extending parallel to the heat sink 12, can be provided in the inclined part 182. The extension section 183 can extend parallel to the vertical part 184, which is located on the rear side of the frame 10.
[0095] This means that the heat sink 12 can be arranged between the vertical part 184 and the extension part 183. In other words, the heat sink 12 can be inserted into a space formed between the vertical part 184 and the extension part 183. According to such a configuration, the outside air introduced into the air duct 18 can be directed straight to the heat sink 12.
[0096] Simultaneously, an airflow opening 186 can be provided in the inclined part 182 of the air duct 18. Through the airflow opening 186, a portion of the outside air flowing through the inclined part 182 can be directed to the heat sink 12.
[0097] Furthermore, a flow guide 19, arranged adjacent to the airflow opening 186, can be provided in the inclined part 182. The flow guide 19 can define the direction of the outside air flowing through the airflow opening 186 to the heat sink 12. For example, the flow guide 19 can direct the outside air, which has been diverted to the airflow opening 186, to the energy conversion elements 14.
[0098] The flow guide 19 can extend from one side of the inclined part 182 to the energy conversion elements 14. Furthermore, the flow guide 19 can be inclined at a specific angle. The angle of inclination of the flow guide 19 can be set along a direction of the outside air that is diverted from the airflow opening 186.
[0099] According to the flow guide 19, the air that is directed through the airflow opening 186 into the frames 10 flows to the energy conversion elements 14, so that the energy conversion elements 14 can be cooled more quickly. Furthermore, the heat sink 12 can be cooled because some of the outside air, which is directed to the energy conversion elements 14 according to the flow guide 19, can pass through a surface of the heat sink 12.
[0100] According to such a configuration, a first air passage A1 and a second air passage A2 can be formed in the power part 1.
[0101] The first air passage A1 can refer to a passage for outside air that is introduced into the air duct 18 to cool the heat sink 12 and the throttles 13.
[0102] The second air passage A2 can refer to a passage for the outside air, which is introduced into the air duct 18 in order to pass through the air flow opening 186 in order to cool the energy conversion elements 14 through the flow guide 19.
[0103] This results in the first air passage A1 and the second air passage A2 being formed at a lower end of the power part 1 according to the present embodiment, thereby increasing the cooling efficiency of the power part 1.
[0104] Furthermore, lower air having a relatively low temperature is introduced to cool the interior of the power unit 1 so that the cooling efficiency is further increased.
[0105] Furthermore, in the power section 1, the chokes 13 and the energy conversion elements 14, which generate a relatively high temperature, are arranged above the circuit board 15, so that the temperature of the circuit board 15 can be prevented from rising due to heat from the chokes 13 and the energy conversion elements 14.
[0106] Furthermore, the cooling efficiency of the power section 1 is increased so that the stability of the power section 1 is improved and the service life of the product is increased.
