Abstract
Description
Background of the invention
[0001] The present invention relates to a blowtorch and, more particularly, to a blowtorch having a continuous flame mode.
[0002] US 10 731 854 B2 discloses a blowtorch comprising a housing, an internally housed ignition device, and a safety control device that prevents an actuator from being actuated from a non-actuated position to an actuated position, and that is movably coupled to the housing and connected to the ignition device. The safety control device comprises the actuator movably coupled to the housing, a trigger movably coupled to the actuator, a first biasing element arranged between the actuator and the trigger, a holder movably coupled to the actuator, and a second biasing element arranged between the actuator and the holder.
[0003] US 6 196 833 B1 describes a gas burner with an additional active safety switch with an active recovery function that actively prevents the ignition trigger of the gas burner from being arbitrarily activated or from remaining permanently activated in order to increase safety.
[0004] However, the blowtorch shown above is primarily suitable for right-handed users. The lock is located on the left side of the housing. A left-handed user cannot activate the lock with their left thumb if they are holding the housing with their left hand.
[0005] In view of the above, there is a need for a blowtorch with improved ignition efficiency that reduces and / or avoids the above disadvantages. Brief description of the invention
[0006] It is an object of the present invention to provide a blowtorch with a continuous flame mode.
[0007] This object is achieved by the subject matter of the independent patent claim. Preferred developments of the invention are described in the subclaims.
[0008] The blowtorch has a housing and a control unit. The control unit has an activation button and a locking button. One end of the activation button is arranged in the housing, and the other end of the activation button is exposed outside the housing. The locking button has a first end, a second end opposite the first end, and a central portion between the first and second ends thereof. The first and second ends of the locking button are each exposed to the outside from two opposite sides of the housing and are arranged thereon. The central portion of the locking button is arranged in the housing. The locking button is switchable relative to the housing between a first locking position and an intermediate position, or is switchable relative to the housing between the intermediate position and a second locking position. The activation button is switchable between a standby position and an activation position when the locking button is in the intermediate position. The locking button is in contact with the activation button and holds the activation button in the activation position when the activation button is in the activation position and the locking button is in the first locking position or the second locking position. Description of the drawings Fig. 1 shows a perspective view of a blowtorch with a continuous flame mode according to an embodiment of the present invention; Fig. 2 and Fig. 3 show perspective exploded views of the blowtorch of Fig. 1; Fig. 4 and Fig. 5 show cross-sectional views of the blowtorch of Fig. 1; Fig. 6 shows a cross-sectional view of the blowtorch of Fig. 1 and shows a locking button located in a first locking position; and Fig. 7 shows a cross-sectional view of the blowtorch of Fig. 1 and shows a locking button located in a second locking position. Detailed description of the invention
[0009] According to the Fig.1 to 7, a blowtorch 10 with a continuous flame mode according to an embodiment of the present invention includes a housing 20 and a control unit 30. The control unit 30 includes an activation button 31 and a locking button 32. One end of the activation button 31 is disposed within the housing 20, and the other end of the activation button 31 is exposed outside the housing 20. The locking button 32 has a first end, a second end opposite the first end, and a central portion between its first and second ends. The first and second ends of the locking button 32 are respectively exposed to the outside from two opposite sides of the housing 20 and disposed thereon, and the central portion of the locking button 32 is disposed within the housing 20.The locking button 32 is switchable relative to the housing 20 between a first locking position and an intermediate position, or switchable relative to the housing 20 between the intermediate position and a second locking position. The activation button 31 is switchable between a standby position and an activation position when the locking button 32 is in the intermediate position. The locking button 32 is in contact with the activation button 31 and holds the activation button 31 in the activation position when the activation button 31 is in the activation position and the locking button 32 is in the first locking position or in the second locking position.
[0010] Furthermore, an engagement flange 311 is provided on the outer periphery of the activation button 31. A communication channel 321, a first engagement recess 322, and a second engagement recess 323 are formed on an outer periphery of the locking button 32. The first engagement recess 322 and the second engagement recess 323 are connected to an edge of the communication channel 321 and are respectively arranged on two opposite sides of the communication channel 321. The engagement flange 311 is movable in the communication channel 321 when the activation button 31 is switchable between the standby position and the activation position. The engagement flange 311 engages the first engagement recess 322 when the activation button 31 is in the activation position and the locking button 32 is in the first locking position. The engagement flange 311 engages with the second engagement recess 323 when the activation button 31 is in the activation position and the locking button 32 is in the second locking position.
[0011] The engagement flange 311 is arranged in the communication channel 321 and holds the locking button 32 in the intermediate position when the activation button 31 is in the standby position.
[0012] Furthermore, the engagement flange 311 extends along a radial direction of a switching path of the activation button 31 relative to the communication channel 321. The communication channel 321, the first engagement recess 322, and the second engagement recess 323 extend along a radial direction of a switching path of the locking button 32 relative to the housing 20.
[0013] The locking knob 32 includes a first pressing portion 324, a second pressing portion 325, and an outwardly projecting flange 326 disposed between the first and second pressing portions 324 and 325. The first pressing portion 324 and the second pressing portion 325 are disposed at the first and second ends of the locking knob 32, respectively. The first and second pressing portions 324 and 325 each have a width in the radial direction of the switching path of the locking knob 32 that is smaller than a width of the outwardly projecting flange 326 in the radial direction of the switching path of the locking knob 32. The communication channel 321, the first engaging recess 322, and the second engaging recess 323 are disposed in the outwardly projecting flange 326.The first engagement recess 322 is arranged on a first side of the communication channel 321 adjacent to the first pressing portion 324, and the second engagement recess 323 is arranged on a second side of the communication channel 321 adjacent to the second pressing portion 325.
[0014] The control unit 30 further includes a first elastic member 33 and a second elastic member 34. The first elastic member 33 is sleeve-like arranged on the first pressing portion 324. One end of the first elastic member 33 abuts the outwardly projecting flange 326, and another end of the first elastic member 33 abuts an inner periphery of the housing 20. Therefore, the first elastic member 33 is configured to press the locking button 32 toward the intermediate position. The second elastic member 34 is sleeve-like arranged on the second pressing portion 325. One end of the second elastic member 34 abuts the outwardly projecting flange 326, and another end of the second elastic member 34 abuts the inner periphery of the housing 20. Therefore, the second elastic member 34 is configured to press the locking button 32 toward the intermediate position.
[0015] A first concave recess 327 is formed in an inner periphery of the first engagement recess 322, adjacent to the communication channel 321. A second concave recess 328 is formed in an inner periphery of the second engagement recess 323, adjacent to the communication channel 321. The engagement flange 311 abuts the first concave recess 327 when the activation button 31 is in the activation position and the locking button 32 is in the first locking position. The engagement flange 311 abuts the second concave recess 328 when the activation button 31 is in the activation position and the locking button 32 is in the second locking position.
[0016] The blowtorch 10 can provide a continuous flame mode without requiring the activation button 31 to be continuously pressed. When the activation button 31 is switched to the activation position, the blowtorch 10 is in an activated state and begins to generate a flame. The locking button 32 can then be switched to the first locking position or the second locking position, so that the blowtorch 10 remains in the activated state to provide a continuous flame mode, and the user does not need to continuously press the activation button 31. Additionally, the first pressing portion 324 and the second pressing portion 325 are respectively arranged on both sides of the housing 20, making the blowtorch 10 suitable for left-handed or right-handed users.
