Abstract
Description
BACKGROUND 1. Technical field
[0001] The present invention relates to an armrest device for a vehicle, and more particularly to the armrest device which is mounted on a rear seat of the vehicle and is configured to provide an armrest, a cup holder function and an article storage function. 2. Description of related technology
[0002] Generally, a second-row seat (a rear seat) of a passenger car is provided with an armrest for use by a passenger.
[0003] When the rear seat armrest is unfolded by rotating it forward so that the armrest protrudes forward, the passenger can use the armrest for a desired purpose. When the armrest is folded by rotating it backward so that the armrest is upright, the armrest is inserted into an armrest board for storage.
[0004] The armrest essentially provides an armrest function that allows a passenger to rest an arm on it; a cup holder function; and an article storage function.
[0005] However, when the armrest has, for example, a structure in which a cup holder is provided at a front portion of the armrest in a fixed state and an article storage space is provided behind the cup holder, there is a disadvantage that the article storage space using a tray is reduced by the space occupied by the cup holder.
[0006] Another disadvantage is that the top of the armrest cannot be used for a large table. Therefore, one disadvantage may be that the use of the armrest is limited.
[0007] In addition, the frame structure that forms the armrest's framework consists of numerous elements. This has the disadvantage of increased weight and increased costs.
[0008] The matters disclosed in this section are provided merely to facilitate understanding of the general background of the invention and should not be construed as an acknowledgment or indication that the matters are already known to a person skilled in the related technical field. SUMMARY
[0009] Therefore, the present invention provides an armrest device mounted on a rear seat and configured to provide an armrest function (for example, to allow a passenger to rest an arm on an armrest); a cup holder function; and an article storage function, wherein the armrest device is configured to, when the cup holder function is not used, cover an upper surface of an armrest with a cover to be used as a large-area table, thereby achieving an improvement in the armrest function and allowing the passenger to rest an arm on the armrest or use the armrest to store various articles, thereby achieving improvements in convenience and marketability.
[0010] Another object of the present invention is to provide an armrest device for a vehicle which is mounted on a rear seat and is configured to provide a larger storage space for articles by utilizing a large article storage space provided independently of the use of a cup holder function, thereby achieving an improvement in marketability.
[0011] Another object of the present invention is to provide an armrest device for a vehicle which is mounted on a rear seat and is capable of achieving weight reduction and cost reduction by reducing the number of elements of a frame structure constituting a skeleton of an armrest.
[0012] The objects of the present invention are not limited to the objects described above, and other objects of the present invention not yet described herein will be better understood by those skilled in the art from the following detailed description.
[0013] In accordance with one aspect of the present invention, the above-described objects can be achieved by providing an armrest device for a vehicle comprising a storage module having a box structure and configured to provide a cup holder function, an article storage function, and a table function; a frame module configured to enclose a periphery of the storage module and to be connected to a rear seat of the vehicle; and a cover module configured to cover the storage module.

[0015] The sliding cover may include a first sliding cover having no hole extending vertically through the first sliding cover to completely cover the connection window; and a second sliding cover including a cup holder hole to provide a cup holder function.
[0016] The first sliding cover may be mounted overlappingly over the second sliding cover. A first guide rail and a second guide rail are formed on the storage cover along the side edges of the connecting window to extend forward and backward while vertically overlapping. A first guide projection formed on a side surface of the first sliding cover may be inserted into the first guide rail. A second guide projection formed on a side surface of the second sliding cover may be inserted into the second guide rail.
[0017] A first manipulation protrusion may be formed at a front end of the first sliding cover to protrude upward. A second manipulation protrusion may be formed at a front end of the second sliding cover to protrude upward. The second manipulation protrusion may be formed to have a shorter lateral length than the first manipulation protrusion so as to overlap only a part of the first manipulation protrusion below the first manipulation protrusion.
[0018] When the first slide cover is moved in a reverse direction under a condition where the connecting window is closed by the first slide cover, only the first slide cover is moved in the reverse direction, the second slide cover is exposed without being moved in the reverse direction, and the connecting window is partially opened through the cup holder hole of the second slide cover to enable a cup holder function to be performed by the second slide cover.
[0019] When the second sliding cover is moved in a reverse direction under a condition where the connecting window is closed by the first sliding cover, the first sliding cover is moved in a reverse direction together with the second sliding cover to fully open the connecting window and enable an article storage function to be performed in the storage space of the tray through the opened connecting window.
[0020] When the first sliding cover is moved in a forward direction under the condition that the connecting window is fully opened in accordance with the backward movement of both the first sliding cover and the second sliding cover, the second sliding cover is moved together with the first sliding cover in the forward direction to fully close the connecting window.
[0021] When the second slide cover is moved in a forward direction under the condition where the connecting window is fully opened in accordance with the backward movement of both the first slide cover and the second slide cover, only the second slide cover is exposed in its forward movement and the connecting window is partially opened through the cup holder hole of the second slide cover to enable a cup holder function by the second slide cover.
[0022] A top surface of the armrest device may have a large area when the connecting window is completely closed by the first sliding cover to enable a table function.
[0023] The storage cover may be provided with a cover receiving space configured to receive the first sliding cover and the second sliding cover.
[0024] The frame module may include a main conduit configured to enclose the perimeter of the storage module to support the storage module; hinge brackets each connected to opposite ends of the main conduit; and hinge pins each connected to the rear seat while extending through the hinge brackets.
[0025] The cover module may include a cover area configured to cover a lower portion of the storage module and the front, rear, left, and right edges of the storage module and the frame module; and a cushion area connected to a rear portion of an upper end of the cover area to provide cushioning to a passenger when the person rests an arm thereon.
[0026] The armrest device according to the embodiment of the present invention includes a first sliding cover having a structure without a vertically extending hole and a second sliding cover having a cup holder hole to provide a cup holder function, and can thus realize an armrest function that allows the passenger to rest an arm thereon; a cup holder function; an article storage function; and a table function by moving the first sliding cover and the second sliding cover. Accordingly, the armrest device according to the embodiment of the present invention has the effect of achieving an improvement in operability and an improvement in marketability.
[0027] Furthermore, the armrest device according to the embodiment of the present invention is configured to provide a larger article storage space by utilizing the large storage space of the tray, regardless of the use of the cup holder function. Accordingly, the armrest device according to the embodiment of the present invention has the effect of achieving an improvement in marketability.
[0028] Furthermore, the armrest device according to the embodiment of the present invention has the effect that weight reduction and cost reduction can be achieved by reducing the number of elements of the frame module constituting a skeleton of the armrest device.

[0045] Hereinafter, an armrest device for a vehicle according to an exemplary embodiment of the present invention will be described with reference to the accompanying drawings.
[0046] As in the Fig. 1 to 12, an armrest device for a vehicle according to an embodiment of the present invention, designated by reference numeral “10,” includes a storage module 100 having a box structure to provide a cup holder function, an article storage function, and a table function, a frame module 200 configured to enclose a periphery of the storage module 100 and to be connected to a rear seat 20 at opposite ends thereof, and a cover module 300 configured to cover the storage module 100.
[0047] The armrest device 10 according to the embodiment of the present invention can be rotatably installed on the rear seat 20 of the vehicle and can basically provide an armrest function that allows a passenger to put an arm on an armrest; a cup holder function; an article storage function; and a table function that allows an article to be placed on the armrest for use in a state where an upper surface of the armrest has a large area.
[0048] The storage module 100 includes a tray 110 provided with a storage space 111, a tray cover 120 coupled to the tray 110 and formed with a connecting window 121 connected to the storage space 111, and a plurality of sliding covers 130 slidably coupled to the tray cover 120 and configured to cause either full opening, partial opening, or closing of the connecting window 121 in accordance with the sliding movement thereof and to provide a cup holder function upon partial opening of the connecting window 121.
[0049] The shelf 110 has a box shape which is open at the top, and an interior of the shelf 110 becomes the storage space 111 for storing articles.
[0050] The tray cover 120 is connected to a top surface of the tray 110 to close an opening of the tray 110 except for the connecting window 121 with a part thereof. The tray cover 120 also connects the storage space 111 of the tray 110 to the outside thereof through the connecting window 121.
[0051] The sliding cover 130 comprises a first sliding cover 131 and a second sliding cover 132 which are arranged vertically overlapping each other.
[0052] According to the present embodiment, the first sliding cover 131 is installed so as to overlap the second sliding cover 132.
[0053] The first sliding cover 131 has no hole extending vertically therethrough and therefore serves to completely close the connecting window 121 in a state of forward movement in a full thrust.
[0054] A plurality of cup holder holes 132a are formed on the second sliding cover 132, extending vertically through the second sliding cover 132. When the cup holder holes 132a are exposed when the second sliding cover 132 moves forward in a full thrust, a passenger can insert cups into the cup holder holes 132a for use. Thus, the second sliding cover 132 can provide a cup holder function.
[0055] The cup holder holes 132a may be circular, square, or, if necessary, polygonal.
[0056] When both the first sliding cover 131 and the second sliding cover 132 move rearward in a full push, the connecting window 121 of the storage cover 120 is fully opened.
[0057] On the storage cover 120, a first guide rail 122 and a second guide rail 123 are formed along the side edges of the connecting window 121, which extend forward and backward and overlap each other vertically.
[0058] In accordance with the embodiment of the present invention, the first guide rail 122 and the second guide rail 123 are shaped such that the first guide rail 122 is arranged above the second guide rail 123.
[0059] A first guide projection 131a formed on a side surface of the first slide cover 131 is inserted into the first guide rail 122 to be moved forward and backward. A second guide projection 132b formed on a side surface of the second slide cover 132 is inserted into the second guide rail 123 to be moved forward and backward.
[0060] The first guide rail 122 and the second guide rail 132 are formed on the left and right side edges of the connecting window 121, respectively. The first guide protrusion 131a is formed on the left and right side surfaces of the first sliding cover 131, respectively. The second guide protrusion 132b is formed on the left and right side surfaces of the second sliding cover 132, respectively. Accordingly, the first sliding cover 131 and the second sliding cover 132 can move forward and backward more stably through the left and right guide supports.
[0061] A first manipulation protrusion 131b is formed at a front end of the first slide cover 131 to protrude upward. A second manipulation protrusion 132c is formed at a front end of the second slide cover 132 to protrude upward.
[0062] The first manipulation protrusion 131b and the second manipulation protrusion 132c serve as handles that can be grasped by the passenger's fingers to move the first sliding cover 131 and the second sliding cover 132, respectively.
[0063] According to the present embodiment, the first manipulation protrusion 131b and the second manipulation protrusion 132c are formed to have different lateral lengths, respectively.
[0064] Accordingly, the second manipulation protrusion 132c is shaped to have a smaller lateral length than the first manipulation protrusion 131b.
[0065] Since the first slide cover 131 and the second slide cover 132 are installed to overlap each other so that the first slide cover 131 is arranged at an upper side and the second slide cover 132 is arranged at a lower side, the second manipulation projection 132c has a structure that contacts only a portion of the first manipulation projection 131b below the first manipulation projection 131b.
[0066] Referring to the Fig. 7 to 9, a part of the first manipulation protrusion 131b is arranged on a left side with respect to a center point of the first slide cover 131 in a lateral direction, and a remaining part of the first manipulation protrusion 131b is arranged on a right side with respect to the center point of the first slide cover 131. The second manipulation protrusion 131c is arranged below the remaining portion of the first manipulation protrusion 131b, so that a structure is formed in which the first manipulation protrusion 131b and the second manipulation protrusion 131c overlap each other while contacting each other.
[0067] According to the embodiment of the present invention, a cover receiving space 124 is provided on the storage cover 120 to receive the first sliding cover 131 and the rearwardly moved second sliding cover 132.
[0068] The cover receiving space 124 is connected to a rear edge of the connecting window 121 and thus receives the rearwardly moved first sliding cover 131 and the second sliding cover 132.
[0069] In accordance with the embodiment of the present invention, the frame module 200 may include a main conduit 210 configured to enclose a front portion and the left and right edges of the storage module 100 to support the storage module 100; hinge brackets 220 each connected to opposite ends of the main conduit 210; and hinge pins 230 each connected to the rear seat 20 and extending through the hinge brackets 220.
[0070] The main line 210 and the hinge brackets 220 can be connected to each other by welding. The hinge pins 230 can be fixedly connected to the rear seat 20 while each extending through the hinge brackets 220. In this case, the main line 210 and the hinge brackets 220 can pivot about the hinge pins 230, so that the frame module 200 can be connected to the rear seat 20 in the form of a pivotable structure.
[0071] Conventional frame modules have the disadvantage of high weight and high cost caused by a large number of elements, since such a conventional frame module is configured by including a sub-cable and a lower end cable connected to the main line 210 in addition to the main line 210, the hinge brackets 220, and the hinge pins 230. However, the frame module 200 according to the embodiment of the present invention is configured without using a sub-cable and a lower end cable, and thus has advantages of reduced number of elements, reduced weight, and reduced cost.
[0072] According to the embodiment of the present invention, the cover module 300 may include a cover portion 310 configured to cover a lower portion of the storage module 100 and the front, rear, left, and right edges of the storage module 100, as well as the frame module 200; and a cushion portion 320 connected to a rear portion of an upper end of the cover portion 310 to provide cushioning to the passenger when the passenger places an arm on the armrest.
[0073] The cover portion 310 covers a large portion of the storage module 100 to protect the storage module 100. In this regard, it is preferred that the cover portion 310 be made of a hard plastic material, but is not limited thereto.
[0074] The cushioning portion 320 is connected to the upper end of the cover portion 310 to cover the rear portion of the upper end of the cover portion 310, except for a portion of the upper end of the cover portion 310 where the sliding cover 130 is installed. The cushioning portion 320 is a portion where the passenger can rest an arm. Accordingly, it is preferable that the cushioning portion 320 be made of a material capable of cushioning the passenger.
[0075] As in Fig. 12, when the passenger moves the first sliding cover 131 rearward in a state where the connecting window 121 is closed by the first sliding cover 131, only the first sliding cover 131 is moved rearward, and the second sliding cover 132 is not moved rearward.
[0076] Accordingly, the connecting window 121 is partially opened through the cup holder hole 132a of the second sliding cover 132, allowing the passenger to insert a cup 30 into the cup holder hole 132a for use. Thus, the second sliding cover 132 can realize a cup holder function.
[0077] As in Fig. As shown in FIG. 13, when the passenger moves the second sliding cover 132 rearward in a state where the connecting window 121 is closed by the first sliding cover 131, the first sliding cover 131 is moved rearward together with the second sliding cover 132. Accordingly, the connecting window 121 is fully opened, so that it is possible to store an article 40 in the storage space 111 of the tray 110 through the opened connecting window 121. In this way, an article storage function can be realized.
[0078] If the passenger is in a condition such as Fig. 13, the connecting window 121 is fully opened in accordance with the backward movement of both the first sliding cover 131 and the second sliding cover 132, the second sliding cover 132 is moved forward, as shown in Fig. 12, only the second slide cover 132 is exposed in accordance with its forward movement, and the first slide cover 131 is still held in a rearward position thereof because the first slide cover 131 is not moved forward. Accordingly, in this state, the cup holder function can still be realized.
[0079] If the passenger is in a condition such as Fig. 13, the connecting window 121 is fully opened in accordance with the backward movement of both the first sliding cover 131 and the second sliding cover 132, the first sliding cover 131 is moved forward, as shown in Fig. 1, Fig. 10 and Fig. As shown in Figure 11, the second sliding cover 132 is moved forward together with the first sliding cover 131. Accordingly, the connecting window 121 is completely closed.
[0080] In a state where the connecting window 121 is completely closed by the first sliding cover 131, the upper surface of the armrest has a large closed area, so that a table function can be realized.
[0081] In the state in which as in Fig. As shown in FIG. 10, when the connecting window 121 is completely closed by the first sliding cover 131, the passenger can rest an arm 50 on the armrest by using the cushion portion 320 and the first sliding cover 131, thus implementing a passenger armrest function. Specifically, the first sliding cover 131 increases an area on which the arm 50 can be rested. Accordingly, the function of the armrest for the passenger is further enhanced, thus achieving an improvement in ride comfort.
[0082] In addition, since a large-area table function can be implemented in the state where the connecting window 121 is completely closed by the first sliding cover 131, the passenger can Fig.11, various articles or foodstuffs 60 can be placed on the first sliding cover 131 for use. Accordingly, there is an advantage in that an improvement in convenience and an improvement in marketability can be achieved.
[0083] As described above, the armrest device according to the embodiment of the present invention includes the first sliding cover 311 having a structure without a vertically extending hole and the second sliding cover 312 formed with the cup holder hole 132a, and can thus realize an armrest function that allows the passenger to rest an arm thereon, a cup holder function, an article storage function, and a table function by moving the first sliding cover 311 and the second sliding cover 312. Accordingly, the armrest device according to the embodiment of the present invention has the advantage of being able to achieve an improvement in usage comfort and an improvement in marketability.
[0084] Furthermore, the armrest device according to the embodiment of the present invention is configured to provide a larger article storage space by utilizing the large storage space 111 of the tray 110, regardless of the use of the cup holder function. Accordingly, there is an advantage in that an improvement in marketability can be achieved.
[0085] Furthermore, the armrest device according to the present embodiment has the advantage that a reduction in weight and a reduction in cost can be achieved by reducing the number of elements of the frame module 200.
[0086] Although embodiments of the present invention have been described in detail with reference to the accompanying drawings, the present invention is not limited to the embodiments, and various changes can be made to the embodiments without departing from the principles and spirit of the invention. Therefore, the disclosed embodiments are to be considered in all respects as illustrative and not restrictive. The scope of the invention is indicated by the appended claims rather than the foregoing description, and all changes that come within the meaning and range of equivalence of the invention are intended to be embraced therein.
