AI Technical Summary
Existing dust removal methods at landfills are inefficient, as suction devices mounted above the pit allow heavily laden raw gas to escape to the sides, reducing the effectiveness of dust capture.
The arrangement of suction assemblies along the edges of the landfill, combined with a fan positioned above the pit to direct an air flow downward, effectively captures dust-laden air flows at their source, preventing escape and enhancing dust removal efficiency.
This configuration significantly improves dust removal efficiency by capturing a large proportion of dust at the point of generation, minimizing dust propagation and ensuring effective operation without impeding the filling process.

Abstract
Description
[0001] The invention relates to a device and a method for dedusting a dump pit.
[0002] Pouring bulk materials into a dump pit can cause large amounts of dust to be stirred up. For example, when processing ore and rock from an open-pit mine, this material is usually transported by transport vehicles to a crushing plant and then poured into a dump pit. The resulting dust in the ambient air can pose a significant threat to the environment and the people working nearby.
[0003] Dust removal is generally accomplished by extracting dust-laden air (raw gas) and separating the dust through filters. Extraction hoods are commonly used for this purpose, and are generally installed above the system to be dedusted.
[0004] DE 12 91 091 A discloses a device on external doors and the like for preventing the penetration of outside air into a room by means of an air curtain covering the opening of the doors or the like, which is blown by means of one or more fans from an outlet opening provided with adjustable guide rails at the top of the door opening to a suction chamber laid in the floor and covered by a grid.
[0005] DD 2 12 940 A1 describes a silo emptying system with an extraction device. This device is used where bulk materials, especially dust-laden bulk materials, are stored and can be removed from the storage containers by gravity. To ensure installation on the silo without major structural effort and effective dust separation, a tubular silo outlet is mounted on the silo floor and surrounded by a suction shaft with an extraction hood.
[0006] DE 40 10 069 A1 describes a device for the dust-free acceptance of bulk materials, particularly grain, with a hopper and a suction device. A truck in its unloading position is enclosed from above by a roller shutter constantly attached to a tarpaulin and from the sides by a rubber flap attached to each side of the truck, down to an area below the loading area. Suction openings are arranged in the sides above the hopper and ensure that an air flow entrains the dust toward the suction opening.
[0007] DE 10 2009 029 405 A1 discloses a pit, a cover for covering a volume and / or a space, in particular a pit cover, and a method for operating a cover. The cover has movement elements, at least one edge region, and a movement unit. The movement elements extend at least partially over the space to be covered and are arranged substantially parallel to one another. The movement elements are each mounted so as to be rotatable and / or pivotable relative to the edge region and can be moved by the movement unit to assist in conveying the bulk material placed on the cover into the space to be covered. To assist in conveying the bulk material conveyed into the space to be covered, at least one movably arranged guide device is provided in the space to be covered, which can be coupled to the movements of the movement elements.
[0008] It can be regarded as an object to propose a device and a method for dedusting a dump pit with which particularly effective dedusting is achieved.
[0009] With regard to the object, the invention proposes a device according to claim 1 and a method according to claim 13. Dependent claims relate to advantageous developments.
[0010] The device according to the invention is intended for dedusting a dump pit, at which at least one delivery point is arranged for positioning a delivery device for filling bulk material into the dump pit.
[0011] The delivery device can be, for example, a mobile device such as a delivery vehicle or a stationary device such as a conveyor. The delivery location is suitable for providing a location for the mobile or stationary delivery device from which bulk material can be poured into the dump pit. The delivery location can simply be an area adjacent to the dump pit, usually an at least substantially flat surface.
[0012] A dump pit can be understood as any area into which bulk material can be filled using a difference in height. This includes dump pits with regular edges, e.g. round, oval, square, rectangular or generally polygonal, as well as those with irregular edges. The dump pit can be delimited by walls, e.g. made of concrete, steel or other materials. The dump pit can therefore also be formed, for example, as a bunker or as a metallic, open-topped vessel. The dump pit can preferably have an extraction point. For example, it can be a dump cone through which bulk material is directed for further processing at a centrally located outlet opening.
[0013] The delivery area borders a first edge section, preferably a straight first edge section, of the dump pit. The delivery area is thus arranged so that, for example, a conveying device such as a conveyor belt, screw conveyor, or similar, or - preferably - a delivery vehicle, in particular a dump truck, can be positioned there so that transported bulk material can be filled into the dump pit. In the case of a delivery vehicle, in particular a dump truck, the bulk material can, for example, be tipped from the tipping trough into the dump pit.
[0014] The bulk material can be various pourable materials, in particular stone and ore, but also building and filling materials, minerals, coal, grain, granules, etc. The device according to the invention for dedusting is preferably provided at a dump pit into which mined rock is filled for further comminution and processing.
[0015] The inventors studied the flow conditions and the distribution of dust when filling a dump pit with bulk material and found that arranging extraction devices above the filling process is disadvantageous. If an extraction device is installed far enough above the dump pit that it does not disrupt the filling process, e.g. by a delivery vehicle, a lot of heavily contaminated raw gas escapes to the sides. The inventors, on the other hand, aim to increase the effectiveness of dust removal by installing extraction in the immediate vicinity of the source of the contaminants. The inventors have recognized that filling bulk material at one edge of the dump pit initially creates an air flow directed downwards into the dump pit, and the displacement air creates an air flow directed upwards out of the dump pit, which also escapes on the opposite side. The inventors therefore propose an arrangement of extraction devices that are located as close as possible to these dust-laden air currents.
[0016] According to the invention, a first extraction assembly with one or more extraction openings arranged along a row is arranged at least along the first edge section, and a second extraction assembly with one or more extraction openings arranged along a row is arranged along an opposite second edge section of the dump pit. The extraction openings of the extraction assemblies are preferably arranged in a line; in the case of a single extraction opening, this is a continuous slot along the respective edge section. The extraction openings serve as inlets for an extraction device in which lines connect the extraction opening to a filter and an outlet, and one or more fans are provided for transporting the air. The extraction openings can be designed as free openings or partially covered, for example by ribs, grids, or other permeable covers.Particularly preferably, the extraction openings are arranged on extraction hoods, i.e. behind the extraction opening there is a space with preferably one or more connections for a line.
[0017] According to the invention, a fan is arranged above the dump pit to generate an airflow in the direction of the dump pit. This is preferably a directed airflow. The fan is preferably arranged directly above the dump pit, so that a plumb line dropped by the fan hits the dump pit within its side walls. Particularly preferably, the fan is arranged substantially centrally above the dump pit, which can be understood to mean that a plumb line dropped by the fan is closer to a geometric center of the dump pit than to the edge of the dump pit.
[0018] The fan creates an airflow directed toward the dump pit, preferably a vertically downward airflow. The airflow serves to move dust-laden raw gas downwards and thus into the dump pit area and the extraction units located at its edges, as well as to prevent the contaminated raw gas from rising upwards.
[0019] For example, several fans can be arranged above the dump pit. The fan is preferably an axial fan. The fan is preferably positioned far enough above the dump pit that the filling process is not obstructed, especially by a delivery vehicle.
[0020] An outlet nozzle can be provided on the fan for focusing and / or directing the air flow. The outlet nozzle can, for example, be designed so that the conveyed air reaches a desired air velocity. While the fan is preferably mounted so that it is aligned with the dumping pit, it is possible for the outlet nozzle to additionally serve to align the conveyed air flow. The outlet nozzle can preferably be adjustable, e.g. as an adjustable baffle. It is possible for the outlet nozzle to be adjusted during operation, but it is preferred that the outlet nozzle is suitably adjusted when the device is set up and is not changed again during operation. The nozzle can be designed so that the air conveyed by the fan is directed as a rotating flow towards the dumping pit. A vortex downdraft thus formed keeps the dust particles in the desired extraction zone.
[0021] In the method according to the invention, dust-laden raw gas is sucked in through the suction openings (or a single, elongated suction opening) of the first suction assembly along the first edge section and through the suction opening(s) of the second suction assembly along the second, opposite edge section. Additionally, an air flow is generated from above toward the dump pit.
[0022] The fan is preferably designed and adjusted so that, during operation, the air volume conveyed is less than the air volume extracted by the extraction assemblies at the edges of the dump pit. In preferred embodiments, the air volume conveyed by the fan per unit of time corresponds, for example, to 3-30% of the extracted air volume, more preferably 5-15%.
[0023] The device and method according to the invention have proven to be highly suitable for dedusting a dump pit for filling bulk material. The arrangement of extraction assemblies along at least part of the edge of the dump pit ensures that filling is not impeded, which is particularly advantageous for delivery vehicles. Furthermore, heavily contaminated raw gas is extracted directly at the dump pit, effectively minimizing its spread. The downward airflow of the fan counteracts the rising of contaminated raw gas and creates an overall airflow through which the contaminated raw gas is conveyed from the dump pit, from the area immediately above it, and from adjacent areas, toward the extraction assemblies, where it is extracted. Thus, the device and method according to the invention achieve effective dust removal, in which a large proportion of the dust is captured by the extraction system.
[0024] According to a further development of the invention, the suction openings of at least one of the suction assemblies, preferably at least the first and second suction assemblies, are directed towards the dumping pit. The direction of a suction opening can be understood as a perpendicular bisector of the open surface of a suction opening. The suction openings are preferably slit-shaped or rectangular. The suction openings are preferably oriented from the edge towards the interior of the dumping pit, i.e., horizontally from the edge or—preferably—downward into the dumping pit, at an angle below the horizontal. The angle can be, for example, 15-75°, preferably 30-60°.
[0025] The first and second extraction assemblies can constitute the entire extraction system at the dump pit, or preferably one or more additional extraction assemblies can be provided at other edge sections. All extraction assemblies can together form a ring that is at least half closed and surrounds the dump pit.
[0026] The dump pit can be completely surrounded by extraction assemblies, or there can be one or more edge sections where no extraction device is provided. If no extraction device is provided at edge sections, the total length of these edge sections is preferably at most equal to, and more preferably shorter than, the length of the edge sections with extraction devices. Particularly preferably, the dump pit is surrounded by extraction assemblies to at least 75% (relative to the edge length).
[0027] The extraction assemblies are preferably arranged at the respective edge sections such that the extraction openings are located in or on a wall of the dump pit, whereby an extended wall that protrudes upwards at least in sections can also be understood as the wall of the dump pit. Preferably, there are no laterally open areas of the dump pit wall below the extraction openings through which contaminated raw gas could escape.
[0028] For this purpose, one or more, preferably all, of the extraction assemblies are preferably arranged at a low height on the dump pit, i.e., either at the level of the dump pit's edge or below it, or slightly above the edge, e.g., less than 1.5 m, preferably 1 m or less. The edge of the dump pit does not have to be at a uniform height all around; upwardly projecting, extended sections of the wall can also form the upper edge at the respective edge section.
[0029] The delivery area is preferably separated from the filling pit by a stop element, which can also be referred to as a bumper. In the preferred case of several delivery areas, a stop element is preferably provided at all of them. The stop element is intended and designed to serve as an obstacle for the positioning of a delivery vehicle at the filling pit, in particular as a stop for its tires. The stop element can be made of steel or concrete, for example. It can extend across the entire width of the delivery area. The stop element is preferably an elongated barrier aligned along the first edge section of the filling pit, preferably of such a low height that the delivery vehicle can fill the bulk material into the filling pit over the stop element. The stop element preferably has an inclined side surface on the side facing away from the filling pit.The suction assemblies can particularly preferably be mounted on the inner side of the stop element facing the dumping pit.
[0030] The height of the suction openings of the first and / or second edge section can preferably be aligned with an upper edge of the stop element at the respective edge section, namely, positioned below this upper edge. This ensures that the suction openings are positioned at a height at which the bulk material falls from the delivery vehicle into the dump pit. This area has proven particularly suitable for the arrangement of the suction openings.
[0031] According to a preferred embodiment, a cover is arranged above the extraction openings. The cover can be formed, for example, by a wall made of steel or concrete. It can preferably have a sloping surface on the upper side, inclined towards the dump pit. The cover can protect the elements forming the extraction opening, preferably extraction hoods, from falling bulk material. Thus, the extraction openings with a cover can also be arranged at least partially inside the dump pit, i.e., protruding inwards from its side walls, which can result in particularly efficient extraction.
[0032] The first and / or second extraction assembly preferably comprises a plurality of aligned extraction hoods connected to a common extraction duct. The extraction hoods preferably have slot-shaped extraction openings. The extraction duct preferably extends parallel to the respective edge section. A common extraction duct can be used to connect the extraction hoods over the entire length of an edge section, but the edge section can also be divided, for example, into two or three segments, each of which has its own individual extraction duct.
[0033] If several extraction openings are connected along the length of a common extraction pipe, this pipe preferably has a cross-section that varies along the length, namely preferably so that the cross-section increases in the direction of suction. The increase can be gradual, e.g. through conical pipe sections, or in stages. By changing the cross-section, the most uniform flow velocity possible can be achieved. In this way, the extraction effect can be largely equalized at extraction openings connected consecutively along the extraction pipe. By setting the flow velocity sufficiently high, sufficient transport of dust particles is ensured and deposits are counteracted. However, the flow velocity should not be set too high in order to avoid excessive abrasion and excessive noise.
[0034] Preferably, the opening of the dump pit is not arranged outdoors, but within an at least predominantly closed structure, generally referred to here as a hall. More preferably, at least the dump pit, the fan and the delivery area or a plurality of delivery areas are arranged within the hall. The hall preferably has a sufficient height to position a delivery vehicle on the delivery area. The hall is preferably completely closed except for one or more gates, which can be provided for the delivery vehicle to enter the hall. An air curtain is preferably arranged at at least one, preferably several and particularly preferably all gates of the hall, i.e. a device with which a flat air flow is generated by nozzles between the edges of the gate - preferably the two sides - and with which the gate surface is closed in such a way that raw gas contaminated with dust is retained. If movable gates are not used, access by delivery vehicles is made easier.
[0035] The first and / or the second extraction assembly are preferably connected via an extraction duct to a dust extraction filter, at which at least a significant portion of the dust in the raw gas is separated.
[0036] Embodiments of the invention are described in more detail below with reference to drawings. Fig. 1 in side view a schematic representation of a general first embodiment of a device for dedusting a dump pit, Fig. 2 shows a perspective view of a hall in which a dump pit and a dust extraction device according to a second embodiment are arranged, Fig. 3 in perspective view the hall with the dump pit from Fig. 2 with two delivery vehicles at delivery sites; Fig. 4 in perspective view the dump pit from Fig. 3 with a delivery vehicle at a delivery site; Fig. 5 is a sectional view of an edge section of the dump, the section being taken along the line starting from point A in Fig. 4 is guided; Fig. 6 a perspective view of the edge section of Fig. 4, Fig. 5; Fig. 7 a perspective view of the dump pit with suction assemblies arranged thereon without a cover; Fig. 8 a perspective view of a Fig. 3 fans arranged above the dump pit; Fig. 9 shows a perspective view of a hall in which a dump pit and a dust extraction device according to a third embodiment are arranged, Fig. 10 in plan view the dump pit from Fig. 9 with delivery places; Fig. 11 in perspective view the dump pit from Fig. 9, Fig. 10 with a delivery vehicle at a delivery site; Fig. 12 a perspective view of the dump pit from Fig. 9-11 with suction assemblies arranged thereon.
[0037] The embodiments shown below each relate to the delivery of bulk material using delivery vehicles 16. However, the invention is not limited by this, but the delivery can also be carried out additionally or instead using conveyor devices.
[0038] Fig. 1 initially shows - in a schematic side view - a first, general embodiment of a dump pit 10 with a dust extraction device 12 arranged thereon.
[0039] Adjacent to the dump pit 10 is a delivery area 14, on which a delivery vehicle 16 (a dump truck, only partially indicated schematically here) is located. The delivery area 14 is located at a first edge section 18 of the dump pit 10. Parallel to the first edge section 18 is a stop element 20 (bumper), against which a tire of the delivery vehicle 16 can be positioned.
[0040] An inclined cover 22 is arranged on the inner side of the stop element 20 facing the dump pit 10. A first extraction assembly 24 is arranged below the cover 22, comprising a plurality of extraction hoods arranged in a line along the first edge portion 18, the extraction openings of which are directed into the interior of the dump pit 10 at an angle of, for example, approximately 45° below the horizontal.
[0041] On the opposite side of the dump pit 10, a second edge section 28 is arranged with a second stop element 30, on the inside of which a second suction assembly 34 is arranged under a further cover 22. Like the first suction assembly 24, the second suction assembly 34 is formed from suction openings of suction hoods arranged along the respective edge section 28 and is oriented at an angle of approximately 45° into the interior of the dump pit 10.
[0042] Both extraction assemblies 24, 34 are connected via pipes (in Fig. 1 for the first suction brewing group 24 not shown) is connected to a suction and filter device 40 shown only schematically.
[0043] The opening of the dump pit 10 and the delivery area 14 are located within a closed hall 38. Within the hall 38, a fan 42 is located above the center of the dump pit 10. The fan 42 is an axial fan directed vertically downward toward the interior of the dump pit 10.
[0044] During operation, the delivery vehicle 16 delivers bulk material. It is positioned at the delivery point 14, e.g., by attaching the tire to the first stop element 20. By tilting the trough of the delivery vehicle 16, the bulk material is poured into the dump pit 10.
[0045] When the bulk material is poured in, dust is released. The dust initially moves downwards from the trough into the interior of the dump pit 10, driven by an air flow triggered by the dumping process, and then rises again around the dump pit, particularly at the opposite second edge section 28.
[0046] The suction and filter device 40 generates a strong suction, which extracts dust-laden raw gas along the opposite edge sections 18, 28 at the suction assemblies 24, 34. The dust is separated by a filter in the suction and filter device 40.
[0047] Meanwhile, a downward air flow L is generated by the fan 42. The fan 42 draws in ambient air from the interior of the hall 38 and generates the air flow L from it. The fan 42 and the suction and filter device 40 are designed and adjusted such that the air volume conveyed by the fan 42 per unit of time corresponds to approximately 10% of the air volume extracted by the suction and filter device through the extraction assemblies.
[0048] The dust removal device 12 thus formed ensures effective dust removal within the hall 38. The dust stirred up during the filling process is prevented from rising by the air flow L of the fan 42 and is sucked away along the edge sections 18, 28 by the suction assemblies 24, 34 arranged there.
[0049] Fig. Figures 2 to 8 show a dust extraction device according to a second embodiment. While the first embodiment shows the structure only in outline and schematically, the second embodiment is a real design shown in greater detail. However, the basic structure of the dust extraction device according to the second embodiment corresponds to the first embodiment according to Fig. 1. Thus, the functionality is similar, which is why a detailed description of corresponding parts and functions is omitted. Elements common to both embodiments are designated by the same reference numerals.
[0050] Fig. Figure 2 shows a hall 38, into which rock and ore from an open-cast mine are delivered by dump trucks 16. In this example, hall 38 has two gates 44 (see Fig. 3, in Fig. 2 not visible). In hall 38, the opening of a dump pit 10 is arranged, which serves as a feed to a crushing device 46 (crusher) arranged below it for crushing the delivered rock for subsequent processing. As described below with regard to Fig. 3 to 7, suction assemblies are arranged at the edges of the dump pit 10, to which pipes 48 are connected, which lead to a suction and filter device 40.
[0051] As from Fig. 3 shows two delivery points 14 for dump trucks 16 at the dump pit 10. In the example shown, the delivery points 14 are arranged at right angles to each other, but are otherwise essentially constructed in the same way. The following description focuses on the Fig. 3 delivery bay 14 on the right.
[0052] Gates 44 are arranged in front of the delivery areas 14. Outlet nozzles 50 are arranged on both sides of each gate 44 to create air curtains in the gate openings.
[0053] The delivery place 14 on the right side in Fig. 3 extends along a first straight edge section 18 of the dump pit 10. A bumper 20 runs parallel to the first edge section 18, on the inside of which an inclined cover 22 is attached with a first suction assembly 24 arranged underneath.
[0054] Opposite the first edge section 18 is a second edge section 28 of the dump pit 10, at which, in this example, no delivery area is formed. The shape of the dump pit 10 in this embodiment is such that the second edge section 28 is not continuously straight, but rather has several straight sections at which the wall of the dump pit 10 is raised.
[0055] A second suction assembly 34 is arranged along the second edge section 28. The first and second suction assemblies 24, 34 are connected to the suction and filter device 40 via respective sections of the pipeline 48.
[0056] Fig. Figure 4 shows the delivery area 14 at the first edge section 18 in an enlarged view. The cover 22 and the first suction assembly 24 are arranged on the inside of the bumper 20 directly at the edge of the dump pit 10.
[0057] The arrangement is particularly clearly visible in the sectional view in Fig. 5 and from the perspective view in Fig. 6, in which the cover 22 has been removed.
[0058] As from Fig. 6, the first extraction assembly 24 comprises a plurality of extraction hoods 52 arranged in a line along the first edge section 18, which are connected to a common, parallel extraction pipe 32. The extraction hoods 52 each have slot-shaped extraction openings 26. The extraction hoods 52 are each arranged such that the extraction openings 26 are directed into the interior of the dump pit 10 at an angle of approximately 45° below the horizontal (wherein the orientation, as in Fig. 5 indicated by the axis R, can be understood as the direction of the perpendicular bisector of the suction opening 26).
[0059] The extraction hoods 52 are connected in series to the extraction duct 32. To achieve uniform extraction and a substantially uniform air velocity, the extraction duct 32 has a cross-section that varies along its length. The cross-section increases incrementally in the direction of suction.
[0060] As from Fig. 7, a second suction assembly 34 is arranged on the opposite second edge section 28, which in the example shown consists of straight sections running at a slight angle to one another, with a plurality of suction openings arranged in a row.
[0061] The second, in Fig. 3 left-hand delivery area 14 and the opposite edge section of the dump pit 10, suction assemblies are arranged so that the dump pit 10, as can be seen from Fig. 7, is almost completely surrounded by extraction assemblies, except for the short edge sections in between.
[0062] Fig. Figure 8 shows fan 42 suspended from a support in hall 38. It is an axial fan with an adjustable aperture 36 as its outlet nozzle. The aperture 36 focuses the airflow of fan 42. The aperture 32 can be adjusted to a suitable position during system setup and left in place during subsequent operation.
[0063] Fig. 9 to 12 show a dust removal device according to a third embodiment. The basic structure of this embodiment corresponds to the first and second embodiments explained above, which is why the following description focuses on the differences between the embodiments. Again, elements common to the above embodiments are designated by the same reference numerals.
[0064] In the third embodiment, three delivery points 14 are arranged at the dump pit 10 within the hall 38. The dump pit 10 has a square cross-section with four edge sections. The following description focuses on the example shown in Fig. 10, the delivery area 14 is arranged on the right and is located at a first edge section 18 of the dump pit 10. As in the embodiments described above, a plurality of extraction hoods 52 are arranged on the bumper 20, forming a first extraction assembly 24. A second extraction assembly 34 is arranged at the opposite second edge section 28. The axial fan 42 is arranged centrally above the dump pit 10.
[0065] As from Fig.12, the dump pit 10 in the third embodiment is completely surrounded by suction assemblies on all four edge sections, including the first suction assembly 24 on the first edge section 18 and the second suction assembly 34 on the opposite second edge section 28. In contrast to the second embodiment, suction pipes 32 of variable cross-section extend on each edge section only over half of the edge section.
[0066] During operation of the second and third embodiments, the delivery vehicles 16 each deliver bulk material. The delivery vehicles 16 enter the hall 38 through the gates 44 and are positioned at the delivery points 14 against the stop elements 20. From there, the bulk material is emptied into the dump pit 10.
[0067] The fan 42 and the suction and filter device 40 are operated so that contaminated raw gas is extracted by the extraction assemblies 24, 34, conveyed through the pipe 48 to the suction and filter device 40, and cleaned there. The fan 42 is designed and adjusted such that the air volume conveyed corresponds to approximately 10% of the air volume extracted by the suction and filter device 40.
[0068] The dust removal system 12 thus formed ensures effective dust removal. Residual dust is trapped inside Hall 38, with the door openings 44 sealed by the air curtains. As a result, the distribution of dust particles outside Hall 38 can be largely avoided or reduced to a minimum.
