Abstract
Description
[Technical field]
[0001] The present disclosure relates to a cable connector. [State of the art]
[0002] A cable termination arrangement in which a termination is connected to an end part of a shielded cable is described in Japanese patent publication JP 2018-147564 A. This arrangement includes the shielded cable in which a braided wire is interposed between a wire and a sheath or covering and is provided with a folded section, which is formed by folding the braided wire, exposed at one end of the sheath, towards the sheath, and a sleeve or casing.A socket made of metal, arranged radially inside the folded section of the shielded cable and crimped onto the outer surface of the sheath, and a connector comprising a drum for sandwiching the folded section between the sleeve and the drum, while crimped onto the outer surface of the folded section. The drum is formed with a protrusion or projection extending radially inward from the shielded cable at a position behind a rear end portion of the sleeve in an axial direction of the shielded cable.
[0003] Furthermore, publication JP 2010-170934 A discloses a connector with a lower shell shaped such that the first side plate projects from a side edge of a plate-like part substantially perpendicular to another plate-like part 43, the second side plate projects from a front edge of the first side plate folded rearward along the first side plate, and a rear wall projects from a rear edge of the second side plate substantially perpendicularly along the rear edge of the plate-like part. The lower shell is assembled with a main shell to close off an end section, which does not correspond to a fastening part, from an open section at a rear end of a rectangular tube section by means of the rear wall.
[0004] Furthermore, publication JP 2018-147564 A discloses a shielded electrical cable with a connector comprising: a shielded electrical cable in which a braided cable is inserted between an electrical cable and a cable sheath, the braided cable being provided with a folding section formed by folding the braided cable exposed from the connector of a cable sheath towards the cable sheath; a metal sleeve provided on an inside of the folding section in the radial direction of the shielded electrical cable and press-fitted to an outside surface of the cable sheath; and a connector comprising a sleeve that holds the folding section between the sleeves while press-fitted to the outside surface of the folding section.A radially inwardly projecting projection from the shielded electrical cable is formed in the sleeve at a point axially behind a rear end part of the sleeve of the shielded electrical cable. [Summary of the invention][Problem that the invention seeks to solve]
[0005] When the shielded cable is pulled, the raised section formed on the drum supports the rear end of the sleeve from behind, thereby improving the fixing force of the shielded cable and the connector.
[0006] Recently, however, it has been necessary to further improve the fixing or securing force of a shielded cable and a connector.
[0007] The present disclosure was completed on the basis of the above situation and aims to improve a fixing or securing force of a cable and a connector. [Means to solve the problem]
[0008] The present disclosure relates to a cable connector in which a connector is connected to an end part of a cable, wherein the cable comprises a wire, a covering or sheath, and a braided link arranged between the wire and the covering, wherein the braided link is formed by braiding conductive wire materials, and wherein the braided link is provided with a folded section formed by folding the braided link, exposed from one end of the covering, towards the covering, forming a sleeve or sheath.A socket made of metal, wherein the sleeve is fitted from the outside onto an outer surface of the sheath within the folded section in a radial direction of the cable; a shielding element made of metal, wherein the shielding element has a drum for sandwich-like enclosing of the folded section between the sleeve and the drum while being crimped onto an outer surface of the folded section; and a housing which is covered by the shielding element.wherein the drum is formed with a drum-side elevation which projects radially inward from the cable at a position behind a rear end portion of the sleeve in an axial direction of the cable, and a sleeve-side elevation which projects radially outward from the cable is formed on a rear end portion of the sleeve, and wherein a deflecting section is formed to allow an inner edge portion to exit in the radial direction of the cable from the drum-side elevation when the drum is crimped onto the outer surface of the folded section, in order to be recessed radially outward from the cable on a projecting end edge which projects radially inward from the cable, from the drum-side elevation. [Effect of the invention]

[Embodiments of the invention][Description of embodiments of the present disclosure]
[0010] First, embodiments of the present disclosure are listed and described.
[0011] (1) The present disclosure relates to a cable connector in which a connector is connected to an end part of a cable, the cable connector comprising the cable, which has a wire, a covering or sheath, and a braided link arranged between the wire and the covering, the braided link being formed by braiding conductive wire materials, the braided link being provided with a folded section formed by folding the braided link, exposed from an end of the covering, towards the covering, and a sleeve or socket made of metal, the sleeve being opened from the outside onto an outer surface of the covering inside orwithin the folded section in a radial direction of the cable, a shielding element made of a metal, wherein the shielding element has a drum for sandwich-like enclosing of the folded section between the sleeve and the drum while being crimped onto an outer surface of the folded section, and includes a housing which is covered by the shielding element, wherein the drum is formed with a drum-side protrusion which projects radially inward from the cable at a position behind a rear end portion of the sleeve in an axial direction of the cable, wherein a sleeve-side protrusion which projects radially outward from the cable is formed on a rear end portion of the sleeve, and wherein a protruding section to allow an inner edge orThe edge portion, extending radially outwards from the drum-side elevation of the cable when the drum is crimped onto the outer surface of the folded section, is designed to be recessed radially outwards from the cable on a projecting end edge which projects radially inwards from the cable.
[0012] According to the configuration above, the contact area of the drum-side protrusion and the rear end of the sleeve or socket is increased compared to the case where the sleeve-side protrusion, which projects radially outward from the cable, is not formed. This improves the clamping force of the cable and the connector. Furthermore, according to the configuration above, even if metal plate material accumulates on the protruding end edge of the drum-side protrusion after the drum has been crimped onto the cable, the formation of creases or folds in the drum-side protrusion is suppressed.
[0013] (2) Preferably, a tapered surface which is widened in diameter towards a rear side is formed on an inner surface of a rear end edge of the sleeve.
[0014] According to the configuration described above, when the cable is inserted into the sleeve from behind, the tapered surface and the cable slide into contact with each other, thus guiding the cable into the sleeve. As a result, since the efficiency of the cable insertion process can be improved, the manufacturing efficiency of the cable connector can be enhanced.
[0015] (3) Preferably the drum is provided with a plurality of drum-side protrusions or projections which are spaced apart from each other in the circumferential direction of the cable.
[0016] According to the above configuration, since the contact area of the drum protrusion and the rear end edge of the sleeve can be increased compared to the case where a drum protrusion is provided, the fixing force of the cable and the connector can be improved. [Details of embodiments of the present disclosure]
[0017] Embodiments of the present disclosure are described below. The present invention is not limited to these illustrations or representations and is intended to be represented by claims, including all modifications in the scope of claims and in the meaning and scope of equivalents. <Erstes Beispiel>
[0018] A first example according to the present revelation is given with reference to Fig. 1 to 9 described. How this is in Fig. As shown in Figure 1, this embodiment relates to a cable connector 12 in which a connector 11 is connected to an end part of a cable 10. In the following description, a direction indicated by an arrow Z is considered an upward direction, a direction indicated by an arrow Y is considered a forward direction, and a direction indicated by an arrow X is considered a leftward direction. Furthermore, for a plurality of identical members or elements, only some may be designated by a reference numeral, while the other members may not be designated by a reference numeral. [Cable 10]
[0019] As this is in Fig. As shown in Figure 2, the cable includes 10 wires 13 (two in this embodiment), a braided link or element 14 which surrounds the outer circumferences of the wires 13, and a covering or sheathing 15 which is made of an insulating synthetic or resin and surrounds the outer circumference of the braided or stranded link 14.
[0020] Although not shown in detail, wire 13 includes a core and an insulating coating made of an insulating synthetic resin, which surrounds the outer circumference of the core. Any metal, such as copper, a copper alloy, aluminum, or an aluminum alloy, can be suitablely selected as the metal forming the core, if necessary. In this example, copper or a copper alloy is used. A terminal (not illustrated) is connected to the tip of wire 13.
[0021] The braided link 14 is formed by braiding a plurality of conductive wire materials into a tube-like shape. The conductive wire materials are not specifically restricted, but they are wire materials made of a metal in this embodiment. Any metal, such as copper or a copper alloy, can be suitablely selected as required to form the wire materials. Wire materials made of a synthetic resin and covered with a metal foil can, for example, be used as the conductive wire materials.
[0022] As this is in Fig. As shown in Figure 1, the sheath 15 is stripped or removed from a front end portion of the cable 10 (front end portion in an axial direction of the cable 10). In this way, the wires 13 and the braided link 14 are exposed at one end of the cable 10. The braided link 14, which is exposed at the end of the sheath 15, includes a folded section 18, which is folded towards the end of the sheath 15. In other words, the folded section 18 is formed backward in the axial direction by folding the braided link 14, which is exposed forward in the axial direction from a front end portion of the sheath 15. It should be noted that the axial direction of the cable 10 is described as a direction parallel to a forward-backward direction in this embodiment.
[0023] The folded section 18 is designed to overlap the sheath 15 of the cable 10 from a radially outer side of the cable 10. [Sleeve 19]
[0024] As this is in Fig. As shown in Figure 2, the sleeve or bushing 19 is made of a metal and formed in a hollow cylindrical shape. Any metal, such as copper, a copper alloy, aluminum, or an aluminum alloy, can be suitablely selected as required to form the sleeve 19. In this embodiment, copper or a copper alloy is used.
[0025] As this is in Fig. As shown in Figure 3, a sleeve-side projection 20, which projects radially outwards from the sleeve 19, is formed on a rear end portion of the sleeve 19. According to this embodiment, the sleeve-side projection 20 extends continuously in a circumferential direction of the sleeve 19. A tapered surface 21, which widens in diameter towards a rear side, is formed on the inner surface of the sleeve 19 at a position corresponding to the sleeve-side projection 20. [Connector 11]
[0026] As this is in Fig. As shown in Figure 1, the connector 11 includes a shielding element 40, which is made of metal, and a housing 41, which is covered with the shielding element 40. [Housing 41]
[0027] The housing 41 is formed by injection molding an insulating synthetic or resin material. The housing 41 has a substantially rectangular or right-angled parallelepiped shape. The connections, not illustrated, are located inside the housing 41. [Shielding element 40]
[0028] As this is in Fig. As shown in Figure 1, the shielding element 40 is formed into a predetermined shape by pressing or forming a metal sheet material. Any metal, such as copper, a copper alloy, aluminum, or an aluminum alloy, can be selected as needed to form the shielding element 40. In this example, copper or a copper alloy is used.
[0029] As this is in Fig. As shown in Figure 1, the shielding element 40 comprises a first shielding element 22, which is arranged on a bottom side, and a second shielding element 23, which is to be mounted on a top side of the first shielding element 22. It should be noted that a vertical direction is used for the sake of simplicity in the description and does not restrict the configuration or structure of the shielding element 40.
[0030] As this is in Fig. As shown in Figure 1, the first shielding element 22 is formed into a predetermined shape by pressing the metal sheet material. The first shielding element 22 comprises a tube section 27, which has a tubular shape, an inclined section 28, which extends obliquely to a lower rear side from a rear end part of the tube section 27, and a tongue piece 29, which extends rearward from a rear end part of the inclined section 28.
[0031] The pipe section 27 is in the form of a rectangular or right-angled tube, extending in the forward-backward direction and flat in the vertical direction. The housing 41 is inserted into the pipe section 27 from the rear and received within it. The housing 41 is held inside the pipe section 27 to prevent it from slipping backwards by a known technique, such as a locking or interlocking structure.
[0032] The inclined section 28 is connected to the lower wall of the pipe section 27 and parts of both left and right side walls of the pipe section 27 near a lower end section and extends inclined towards the lower rear side. The tongue piece 29 extends rearward from the vicinity of a lateral center of the rear end section of the inclined section 28. The tongue piece 29 is in the form of a plate that is elongated in the forward-backward direction. [Second shielding element 23]
[0033] As this is in Fig. As shown in Figure 1, the second shielding element 23 comprises an upper wall 25 and side walls 26, which extend downwards from both left and right side edges of the upper wall 25. Fixing or securing pieces 34, which are to be crimped to wrap around the lower wall of the tube section 27 of the first shielding element 22, extend along the lower end edges of the side walls 26. As shown in Figure 1, the second shielding element 23 comprises an upper wall 25 and side walls 26, which extend downwards from both left and right side edges of the upper wall 25. Fig. As shown in Figure 2, the fixing or securing pieces 34 are crimped to wrap around the lower wall of the tube section 27, thereby integrally or in one piece assembling the first and second shielding element 22, 23.
[0034] A drum 30 is formed behind the upper wall 25 and the side walls 26. The drum 30 is designed to be open at the bottom before it is crimped onto the cable 10. The drum 30 is crimped to wrap around the folded section 18 of the cable 10 from the outside, thereby connecting the first and second shielding elements 22, 23 and the cable 10.
[0035] As this is in Fig. As shown in Figure 5, two right-hand opening-preventing pieces 35, extending downwards, are formed on the right lower end edge of the drum 30, spaced apart from each other in the forward-backward direction. A left-hand opening-preventing piece 36, extending downwards, is formed on the left lower end edge of the drum 30. When viewed from the right, the left opening-preventing piece 36 is designed to be positioned between the two right-hand opening-preventing pieces 35 in the forward-backward direction.
[0036] As this is in Fig. As shown in Figure 5, a right locking section 37 is formed on the tip of the right opening-preventing piece 35. The right locking section 37 is formed by folding and bending a tip portion of the right opening-preventing piece 35 inwards. Furthermore, a left locking section 38 is formed on the tip of the left opening-preventing piece 36. The left locking section 38 is formed by folding and bending a tip portion of the left opening-preventing piece 36 inwards.
[0037] As this is in Fig. As shown in Figure 6, when the drum 30 is crimped onto the outer circumference of the cable 10, the right locking sections 37 of the right-hand, opening-preventing pieces 35 are in contact with the left-hand side edge of the tongue piece 29 from the left. In this way, the right-hand, opening-preventing pieces 35 are prevented from being opened to the right due to a springback.
[0038] As this is in Fig. As shown in Figure 6, when the drum 30 is crimped onto the outer circumference of the cable 10, the left locking section 38 of the left, opening-preventing piece 36 is in contact with the right side edge of the tongue piece 29 from the right. In this way, the left, opening-preventing piece 36 is prevented from being opened to the left due to a springback. (Drum-side elevations 32)
[0039] As this is in Fig. As shown in Figure 5, a plurality of (four in this example) drum-side projections or protrusions 32 project radially inward from the cable 10 on the rear end edge of the drum 30, while being spaced apart in a circumferential direction of the cable 10. The drum-side projections 32 have a substantially rectangular shape with rounded corners when viewed from the rear. The drum-side projections 32 are bent radially inward at a substantially right angle from the rear end edge of the drum 30.
[0040] As this is in Fig. As shown in Figure 7, the rear end edge of the drum-side projection 32 is designed to be essentially flush with that of the drum 30. In other words, the drum-side projection 32 does not extend further rearward than the rear end edge or rear end margin of the drum 30. In this way, contact between the drum-side projection 32 and a tool for press forming or machining, or the like, during press forming of the drum 30 can be prevented.
[0041] As this is in Fig. As shown in Figure 8, when the drum 30 is crimped onto the outer circumference of the folded section 18, the drum-side protrusions 32 are arranged at a position behind a rear end part of the sleeve 19 in the axial direction of the cable 10.
[0042] A projecting diameter of the drum-side projections 32 radially inward from the cable 10 is adjusted or fixed such that the drum-side projections 32 can be locked to the rear end edge of the sleeve 19 from behind in the axial direction of the cable 10 when the drum 30 is crimped onto the outer circumference of the folded section 18. In this way, the drum-side projections 32 come into contact with the rear end edge of the sleeve 19 from behind in the axial direction when a force is applied to pull the cable 10 backward in the axial direction (see Fig. 9).
[0043] As this is in Fig. As shown in Figure 8, in a state where the cable 10 is not pulled backwards in the axial direction, the rear end edge of the sleeve 19 and the front surfaces of the drum-side protrusions 32 may be in contact or separated.
[0044] The majority of the drum-side projections 32 on the rear end portion of the drum 30 are arranged bilaterally symmetrically when viewed from the rear. In this way, the sleeve 19 can be received by the bilaterally symmetrically arranged drum-side projections 32 when the cable 10 is pulled backwards in the axial direction. This prevents a force from being applied to a specific drum-side projection(s) 32 in an oblique or inclined manner. (Manufacturing process of cable connector 12)
[0045] Next, an example of a manufacturing process for cable connector 12 is described. It should be noted that the process for cable connector 12 is not limited to the following process.
[0046] The sheathing or casing 15 of the cable 10 is stripped or removed over a predetermined length. In this way, the wires 13 and the braided link 14 are exposed from the sheathing 15.
[0047] A tube made of metal is cut to a predetermined length and an end part of the cut tube is widened in diameter by drawing, thereby forming the sleeve-side protrusion 20 and the inclined or tapered surface 21.
[0048] The sleeve 19 is fitted from the outside at a position near the front end of the sheath 15. The braided link 14, which is exposed by the front end of the sheath 15, is folded towards the front end of the sheath 15. In other words, the braided link 14, which is exposed by the front end of the sheath 15, is folded backward in the axial direction of the cable 10. In this way, the folded section 18 is formed outside the sleeve 19 in the radial direction of the cable 10.
[0049] On the other hand, the first and second shielding elements 22, 23 are integrally assembled by crimping the fixing pieces 34 of the second shielding element 23 onto the tube section 27 of the first shielding element 22. Subsequently, the drum 30 is crimped to wrap around the outer circumference of the folded section 18. In this way, the drum 30 and the folded section 18 are electrically and physically connected. The cable connector 12 is completed in the above manner. [Functions and effects of the example]
[0050] Next, the functions and effects of this example will be described. This example refers to the cable connector 12, in which the connector 1 is connected to the end part of the cable 10, and which connects the cable 10, comprising the wires 13, the sheath 15, and the braided link 14, which is interposed between the wires 13 and the sheath 15, wherein the braided link 14 is formed by braiding the conductive wire materials, wherein the braided link 14 is provided with the folded section 18, which is formed by folding the braided link 14, exposed from the end of the sheath 15, towards the sheath 15, and the sleeve 19, which is made of a metal and is fitted from the outside onto the outer surface of the sheath 15 within the folded section in the radial direction of the cable 10.The shielding element 40, which is made of a metal and has the drum 30 for a sandwich-like enclosure of the folded section 18 between the sleeve 19 and the drum 30, if and wherein the drum 30 is crimped onto the outer surface of the folded section 18, and includes the housing 41, which is covered with the shielding element 40, wherein the drum 30 is formed with the drum-side projections 32, which project radially inwards or inwards from the cable 10 at the position behind the rear end part of the sleeve 19 in the axial direction of the cable 10, and the sleeve-side projection 20, which projects radially outwards or outwards from the cable 10, is formed on the rear end part of the sleeve 19.
[0051] According to this example, the contact surface or contact area of the drum-side projection 32 and the rear end part of the sleeve 19 is increased compared to the case where the sleeve-side projection 20, which projects radially outwards from the cable 10, is not provided. In this way, the fixing or securing force of the cable 10 and the connector 11 can be improved.
[0052] Furthermore, according to this example, the tapered surface 21, which widens in diameter towards the rear, is formed on the inner surface of the rear end edge of the sleeve or socket 19. In this way, when the cable 10 is inserted into the sleeve 19 from behind the sleeve 19, the tapered or inclined surface 21 and the cable 10 slide into contact with each other, thus guiding the cable 10 into the sleeve 19. As a result, the efficiency of the process of inserting the cable 10 into the sleeve 19 can be improved, and therefore the manufacturing efficiency of the cable connector 12 can be improved.
[0053] Furthermore, according to this example, the drum 30 is provided with the majority of drum-side protrusions or projections 32, which are spaced apart from each other in the circumferential direction of the cable 10.
[0054] In this way, the contact area of the drum-side projections 32 and the rear end edge of the sleeve 19 can be increased compared to the case where a drum-side projection 32 is provided. Therefore, the fixing force of the cable 10 and the connector 11 can be improved. <Zweites Beispiel>
[0055] Next, a second example of the present revelation will be given with reference to Fig. 10 to 13 described. As this is in Fig. As shown in Figure 10, in a cable connector 50 according to this example, the configuration of the drum-side protrusions 51 differs from the first embodiment. As this is shown in Figure 10, the configuration of the drum-side protrusions 51 in a cable connector 50 according to this example differs from the first embodiment. Fig. As shown in Figure 11, a plurality of (two in this example) drum-side projections 51 project radially inwards from a cable 10 on the rear end edge of a drum 30, while being spaced apart from each other in a circumferential direction of the cable 10. The drum-side projection 51 is formed on each of the right and left sides of the drum 30 when viewed from the rear.
[0056] As this is in Fig. As shown in Figure 11, a protruding or offset section 52, which is recessed into a valley shape when viewed from the rear, is formed near a substantially vertical center on the projecting end edge of the drum-side elevation 51 in a state before the drum 30 is crimped onto the cable 10. In other words, the protruding section 52 is recessed or offset radially outwards from the cable 10 on the projecting end edge of the drum-side elevation 51.
[0057] As this is in Fig. As shown in Figure 12, the emerging sections 52, which are formed on the projecting end edges or margins of the drum-side elevations 51, are smaller in the circumferential direction of the cable 10 in a state after the drum 30 is crimped onto the cable 10 than in the state before the drum 30 is crimped onto the cable 10.
[0058] As this is in Fig. As shown in Figure 13, when the drum 30 is crimped onto the outer circumference of a folded section 18, the drum-side protrusions 51 are arranged at a position behind a rear end part of a sleeve 19 in an axial direction of the cable 10.
[0059] Since the other configuration is essentially the same as in the first example, the same members or elements are designated by the same reference symbols and a repeated description is omitted.
[0060] As this is in Fig. As shown in Figure 12, the projecting end edges of the drum-side projections 51 are compressed in the circumferential direction of the cable 10 after the drum 30 is crimped onto the cable 10. There are concerns that a metal plate material, which forms the inner edge portions of the drum-side projections 51, will concentrate on these projecting end edges and form kinks or folds.
[0061] Accordingly, in this example, the emerging or offset sections 52, which are recessed into a valley shape, are formed on the projecting end edges of the drum-side projections 51. In this way, even if the metal plate material is concentrated on the projecting end edges of the drum-side projections 51 in the state after the drum 30 has been crimped onto the cable 10, the formation of wrinkles in the drum-side projections 51 can be suppressed.
[0062] Furthermore, since the contact area of the drum-side projections 51 and the rear end edge of the sleeve 19 can be increased compared to the case where the drum-side projections 51 are provided at intervals, a fixing force of the cable 10 and a connector 53 can be improved.
[0063] Since the other configuration is essentially the same as in the first example, the same members are designated by the same reference symbols and a repeated description is omitted. <Andere Beispiele>
