Abstract
Description
[0001] The invention relates to a clamping clamp, in particular a railing clamp, with a clamping arm and a fixed first clamping leg arranged on the clamping arm, as well as a second clamping leg which can be moved along the clamping arm by means of a spindle.
[0002] Clamps of this type, in which the adjustable clamping arm is actuated by a spindle located in the clamping bar, are widely used in practice, for example on construction sites to install railings at heights where there is a risk of falling. These clamps usually have rigid clamping arms, so the clamp is only held securely to the object being clamped by a high surface pressure. When using such railing clamps in bridge construction, a further problem arises: the bridge parapets, to which the guardrails are attached with these clamps, are regularly inclined on their upper and lower surfaces relative to the horizontal, i.e., not parallel to the clamping arms. Therefore, it has previously been necessary to use wooden wedges for compensation, which involves considerable installation effort.
[0003] From DE 94 20 478 U1, a clamping device, in particular a railing clamp, is known, comprising a clamping bar and a fixed clamping leg arranged on the clamping bar, as well as a clamping leg adjustable along the clamping bar by means of a spindle, wherein elastically compliant clamping plates are arranged on the opposite sides of the clamping legs. These clamping plates have a plurality of parts, so that the construction of this clamping device is very complex.
[0004] The object of the invention is to provide a structurally simple clamping device, in particular a railing clamp, which is suitable for easy mounting on bridge caps.
[0005] This problem is solved according to the invention in a clamping clamp of the type described above by the fact that a clamping piece is pivotably hinged to at least one of the two clamping legs at the free end.
[0006] With a clamp designed in this way, it is ensured that at least one clamping element, due to its pivotable linkage, rests flat against the top or bottom of a bridge cap, guaranteeing a sufficiently strong, positive connection without the need for additional measures. This makes the clamping (railing) clamp very easy to install, without requiring a complex design.
[0007] In most applications, it is preferred that a first clamping piece is pivotally attached to the first clamping leg and a second clamping piece is pivotally attached to the second clamping leg. With this design, the clamping clamp is suitable for typical bridge caps where both the top and bottom surfaces are inclined relative to the horizontal.
[0008] In a structurally preferred embodiment, it is provided that both clamping legs have a U-shaped or square tube-shaped cross-section at least at their free end.
[0009] The two clamping pieces preferably have a U-shaped cross-section and each enclose the free end of the corresponding clamping leg from above. Other profile shapes are of course also possible.
[0010] Furthermore, for the pivotable connection on the respective clamping leg, it is advantageously provided that each clamping piece has a continuous transverse bore for a pivot pin in the middle region of its longitudinal extent. Naturally, a corresponding continuous transverse bore is also provided in the respective clamping leg.
[0011] The invention is explained in more detail below with reference to the drawing.
[0012] This shows in Fig. 1 a railing clamp mounted on a bridge cap with railing, Fig. 2 the mounted railing clamp after Fig. 1 without railings, Fig. 3 the railing clamp in narrow side view, Fig. 4 the railing clamp in broad side view, Fig. 5 an enlarged detail of the Fig. 3, Fig. 6 an enlarged detail of the Fig. 4 and in Fig. 7 a horizontally mounted railing clamp
[0013] A clamping device is shown in the figures as a railing clamp 1. The railing clamp 1 serves, for example, to attach a (protective) railing 2 to a bridge cap 3. This bridge cap 3 has a top surface 3a inclined relative to the horizontal and a bottom surface 3b inclined relative to the horizontal.
[0014] The railing clamp 1 has a clamping arm 4 and a fixed first clamping leg 5 arranged on the clamping arm 4, as well as a second clamping leg 7 that is slidable along the clamping arm 4 by means of a spindle 6. The first clamping leg 5 has a tubular receptacle 8 on its upper side at a free end 5a for connection to a post 9 of the railing 2.
[0015] The second clamping arm 7 is non-rotatably connected to a spindle nut 10 arranged on the spindle 6. At the upper end of the spindle 6, which projects from the clamping arm 4, the spindle 6 is non-rotatably connected to an actuating element 11, e.g., a wing nut. By rotating the actuating element 11 and thus the spindle 6, the second clamping element 7 is moved via the spindle nut 10 towards the first clamping element 5 or, in the opposite direction of rotation, away from it.
[0016] The railing clamp 1 described so far corresponds to a conventional railing clamp. The essential feature of the invention is that a first clamping piece 12 is pivotably hinged to the free end 5a of the first clamping leg 5, and a second clamping piece 13 is pivotally hinged to the free end 7a of the second clamping leg 7. Depending on the inclination of the upper surface 3a or lower surface 3b of the bridge cap 3, a clamping piece 12, 13 may also be hinged to only one clamping leg 5, 7.
[0017] How best to Fig. 3 and Fig. As can be seen from Figure 5, both clamping arms 5, 7 have a square-tube cross-section 5b, 7b at least at their free ends 5a, 7a. The two clamping pieces 12 and 13 have a U-shaped cross-section 12a and 13a, with the respective U-shaped web extending outwards beyond the two U-shaped arms in a T-shape. The two clamping pieces 12 and 13 each enclose the free end 5a, 7a of the associated clamping arm 5, 7 from above.
[0018] Each clamping element 12, 13 has a continuous transverse bore in the middle region of its longitudinal extent for a pivot pin 14, 15. A corresponding continuous transverse bore is also provided in the respective clamping leg 5, 7. The pivot pin 14, 15, inserted through the aligned transverse bores, is secured, for example, by means of a cotter pin.
[0019] When the railing clamp 1 is mounted on the bridge cap 3, the respective clamping piece 12, 13, due to its pivotable linkage, rests flat against the upper or lower surface 3a, 3b of the bridge cap 3 when the railing clamp 1 is brought into its closed clamping position by actuating the spindle 6. This ensures that the railing clamp 1 is securely held against the bridge cap 3 by friction.
[0020] The clamping device has been described above as a railing clamp 1 in conjunction with a bridge cap 3; however, it is not limited to this use but is fundamentally suitable for mounting on any building element or structure that is inclined at the top and / or bottom relative to the horizontal. The same applies to horizontal mounting of the clamping device if the front and / or back of the building element or structure is inclined relative to the vertical. Such an installation or mounting position is described in Fig. Figure 7 shows the building there being designated as 16 and exemplarily having a vertical front 16a and a rear 16b inclined to the vertical.
