Abstract

Clamping rods (1) with different metal mandrels (2, 3, 4) for holding grilled food on / at commercially available metal grill skewers (9), characterized in that the clamping rods (1) are connected to a commercially available metal grill skewer (9) by metal screws (5a).

Description

[0001] Clamping device with metal mandrels for securing grilled food to standard metal grill skewers or without metal mandrels for securing standard disposable wooden grill skewers to standard metal grill skewers, with or without motor drive.

[0002] The device is an extension for commercially available metal grill skewers (9) for shashlik grills, also often called “Mangal grills”, but can also be used on any other grill.

[0003] The use of the device makes it possible to securely fasten small grilled items such as shrimps on the one hand and large grilled items such as a rolled roast on the other hand on the existing metal skewers (9).

[0004] Commercially available grill skewers (9) are made of flat steel or square or rectangular bars and are either too wide or too large in diameter for skewering shrimp, for example.

[0005] For larger grilled food, however, these metal skewers (9) are too flat or too small in diameter to secure and rotate the food. Depending on the weight, the standard metal grill skewer (9) would bend under the load and slip out of the guide on motor-driven grills. Without the clamping device with metal mandrels (2, 3, 4), the through hole in the food created by the metal skewer (9) would wear out after just a few turns of the metal skewer (9) and would therefore no longer be able to rotate the food with force. The clamping device shifts the attachment points outwards from the center axis of rotation and can therefore reliably rotate the food with the metal skewer (9), which is particularly essential with motor-driven grills.

[0006] The device consists of five different parts: the clamping rods (1), straight mandrels (2), S-shaped bent mandrels (3), a long stabilizing mandrel (4), and standard metric metal screws (5, 5a).

[0007] For larger items of food, a clamping rod (1) is first pushed through the slotted hole (7) in the clamping rod (1) onto the existing metal spit (9) and then clamped into the desired position on the metal spit by tightening the screw (5a). Depending on the shape of the food, two pins (2, 3, 4) are then inserted into the through holes (6) in the clamping rod (1) to secure the food in place. The food is then inserted into the metal spit (9) and then into the aligned pins (2, 3, 4). The pins (2, 3, 4) are then clamped securely against rotation in the clamping rod (1) by tightening the screws (5). A second clamping rod (1) with the matching pins (2, 3, 4) is inserted onto the metal spit (9) and fixed in the desired position by tightening the screw (5a). Alternatively, one or two long mandrels (4) can replace the individual mandrels (2,3) to reinforce the metal skewer (9) against bending.These long stabilizing pins (4) are inserted completely through the food and secured to both clamping rods (1). This allows for countless variations for optimally connecting and rotating the food to the metal spit (9). Before tightening the screws (5) and thus securing them, the curved, S-shaped pins (3) can be rotated 360 degrees within the clamping rod (1) to select the best possible position, depending on the type of food being grilled.

[0008] For small grilled items such as shrimp, olives or similar, the food is first put onto commercially available disposable wooden skewers. The mandrels (2, 3, 4) are not required for this. Here, too, a clamping rod (1) is first pushed through the oblong hole (7) in the clamping rod (1) onto the metal skewer (9) and then clamped into the desired position by tightening the screw (5a). The loaded wooden skewers are then pushed directly into the through-holes (6) in the lower clamping rod (1) and secured by tightening the screws (5). Another (upper) clamping rod (1) is pushed onto the metal skewer (9) and the ends of the wooden skewers are inserted into the through-holes (6) in the upper clamping rod (1) and secured by tightening the screws (5). Once this is done, the upper clamping rod (1) is clamped onto the metal skewer (9) by tightening the screw (5a). The wooden skewers are now firmly connected to the metal skewer (9) via the clamping rods (1).

[0009] After the grilling process, the used mandrels (2,3,4) or wooden skewers are removed by loosening the screws (5,5a) and can be refilled with grilled food.

[0010] Clamping rods (1), mandrels (2,3,4) and screws (5,5a) are made of easy-care and rust-proof V2A stainless steel (material number 1.4301 and alloy designation X5CrNi18-10).
