Abstract

Foldable base carrier as a load carrier for car trailer hitches, which is folded up when not in use and remains on the vehicle as a narrow "beam" (Fig. 2) that is not very disruptive.

Description

[0001] The invention relates to a foldable base carrier as a load carrier for car trailer hitches, consisting mainly of: - a standard plug-in coupling for compatible trailer ball couplings, - 2 main supports, - 4 intermediate profiles as well as standard screws, which serve as connecting material and at the same time as pivot points.

[0002] From a technical standpoint, there are many types of load carriers for car trailer hitches that are used as bicycle carriers, game carriers or for transporting camping equipment.

[0003] The present invention differs from other load carriers in that the foldable base carrier for car trailer hitches is folded up when not in use and remains on the vehicle as a narrow "beam" that is not very disruptive, thus minimizing disruptive contours in the leg area for the user.

[0004] For dog owners, the arrangement is advantageous because, when the base carrier is folded, easier access to the vehicle ensures a safe jumping zone for the dog.

[0005] To use the foldable base carrier, the securing elements (5) are removed from the base carrier mounted on the car trailer hitch and the base carrier is unfolded.

[0006] In the unfolded position = operating position, various inserts, grids, plates or trays can now be inserted for the transport of different goods (see example tray for game carrier).

[0007] The entire structure is made of suitable material, sheet metal, preferably stainless steel sheet metal, and is designed to be safe for users and other persons involved.

[0008] The dimensions permitted for installation according to the German Road Traffic Regulations (StVZO) were taken into account.

[0009] The payload depends on the vehicle-specific permissible load capacity.
