AI Technical Summary
Existing box bodies for commercial vehicles face issues with time-consuming cavity filling, foam leaks, and corrosion due to unfilled cavities, particularly in thermally insulated vehicles, leading to increased costs and maintenance efforts.
A detachable portal profile with an internal cavity is used to connect prefabricated assembly units, allowing for easy filling with insulating material and easy disassembly for maintenance, featuring a hinge for the rear door and a metallic stiffening profile for enhanced stability.
Facilitates efficient thermal insulation with easy maintenance and repair, preventing foam leaks and corrosion while reducing assembly time and costs.
Description
[0001] The invention relates to a box body for commercial vehicles with a roof part, a side wall, a load floor as well as a front wall and a rear wall, wherein at least the rear wall, which is provided in particular with a rear wall door, is connected to a side wall.
[0002] Box bodies of the aforementioned type are well known and are used, for example, in temperature-insulated commercial vehicles. During assembly of the bodies, cavities often arise between individual body components, which are subsequently filled with foam, provided with filler pieces, cast in place, or where such cavities are not further filled.
[0003] This subsequent work is time-consuming. For example, subsequent foaming can lead to unwanted foam leaks onto visible surfaces, necessitating subsequent cleaning, or, in the worst case, even requiring repainting of such visible surfaces. Machining precisely-fitted filler pieces also requires considerable effort and correspondingly high costs. If cavities are to be filled, this can only be achieved with certain cavity geometries. If the cavities remain unfilled, this can lead to deteriorated K values, condensation, and thus corrosion, particularly in thermally insulated commercial vehicles.
[0004] From US 2010 / 0212248 a connector for connecting a side wall to a corner stanchion is known.
[0005] The object of the present invention is to improve a box body for commercial vehicles of the type mentioned above.
[0006] The box body for commercial vehicles is characterized by a portal profile that can be detachably connected to the side wall and has an internal space that can be closed with a cover and is filled with insulating material. A hinge for the rear door is attached to the portal profile.
[0007] This creates a box body in which the side walls, roof section, rear wall and front wall are provided as prefabricated assembly units that are to be connected by the portal profile provided at the end. According to the invention, the hinge of a rear wall door is attached to this portal profile. Since this portal profile has an internal free space or cavity that can be closed off by a cover on one open side of the portal profile, the portal profile can also be filled with insulating material in an assembly-friendly manner, for example by blowing the insulating material into it. A side wall or side wall sections can also be attached via the portal profile and, for example, a screw connection there. The cover is preferably a plastic cover. If the commercial vehicle is damaged by impact or is involved in an accident, the portal profile can be easily dismantled and subsequently re-insulated in its repaired state.
[0008] Further advantageous embodiments emerge from further subclaims, the following description, and the drawing. The drawing shows: Fig. 1: An embodiment of a commercial vehicle in the form of a semi-trailer with an embodiment of a box body according to the invention; Fig. 2: a plan view of the embodiment according to Fig. 1 according to the section line BB in Fig. 1 ; Fig. 3: partially enlarged sectioned plan view of the rear area of a side wall with the portal profile and a rear portal door (condition: door closed), according to detail A in Fig. 2 .
[0009] In the drawing, matching parts are provided with matching reference numbers.
[0010] 1 denotes a box body of a commercial vehicle, which has side walls 2 and 3, a front wall 4 and a rear wall 5, which may, for example, contain a rear portal door 5.1, rear wall door ( Fig. 3 ). In Fig. 3 it is shown that the rear wall 5 has a rear portal door 5.1, which is connected to a side wall 3 via a hinge 6 with a hinge lever 6.1 and a connecting piece 6.2.
[0011] The portal profile 7 is attached to this side wall 3 with an inner free space 8 via a screw connection. This portal profile 7 is a metallic profile that is stiffened by a C- or U-shaped inner metallic stiffening profile 10. The portal profile 7 is bent around this metallic stiffening profile 10 and has a leg 7.1 that can engage in a pocket 11 of a cover 12 when assembled. The other end of the cover 12 rests against a double adhesive tape 13 that is glued to the inside of the side wall 3. An insulating element 14 is inserted into the side wall 3. After the parts have been assembled, an insulating material, for example a plastic insulating material, is blown into the free space 8. This creates an optimally thermally insulated box body that is easy to open, disassemble, clean, and refill with insulating material if it is to be disassembled. The insulation material can be removed and disposed of without leaving any residue.Such portal profiles 7 can also accommodate, for example, doors, other openings and / or components within the side wall, which can also be provided with blown-in insulation.
