Description

[0001] The invention relates to a drain cover device for a drain opening of a water drain, comprising a cover element, wherein the cover element has a cover plate covering the drain opening and a guide pin protruding from an underside of the cover plate, wherein the cover element, together with the guide pin, can be displaceably mounted in a guide device arranged in the water drain relative to the drain opening in a displacement direction. The invention also relates to a water drain device having a drain opening arranged in a water collection device and having a drain cover device covering the drain opening, which has a cover element which is displaceably mounted in a guide device fixed relative to the drain opening in a displacement direction.

[0002] Water drainage devices with a drainage opening arranged in a water collection device are used in many different applications.

[0003] In a water collection device designed as a sink, there is usually a drain opening in the sink base through which the rinse water flowing into or collecting in the sink is led from the sink into a drain pipe and drained away. The drain opening in a sink can be closed with a plug or a lid to retain and collect the rinse water that is poured into the sink during use, for example from a faucet or a water container. The water drainage device can also have a sieve element that is permanently installed or detachably insertable into the drain opening. With this sieve element, larger particles or solid residues in the sink can be retained so that they cannot pass through the drain opening into an adjoining drain pipe and gradually block it.

[0004] Other water drainage devices are known from sanitary areas, for example, and are used in washbasins, bathtubs, or shower areas. With washbasins or bathtubs, the only difference between a sink and a kitchen sink is often the design of the water collection device, while the water drainage device used in them can be largely identical and only needs to be slightly adapted to the respective water collection device. In a shower, the water collection device can be either a shower tray or shower basin, or it can be formed by a shower floor, usually covered with tiles, which has a gradient towards the drain opening so that the shower water distributed in the shower collects on the shower floor and is drained away to the drain opening.Unlike a water drainage device fixed to a sink or washbasin, the water drainage devices used in showers are usually arranged and fixed in the substructure beneath a shower tray or beneath a tiled floor.

[0005] Regardless of the various designs of the water drainage device, it is known in practice that the drain opening can be covered by a drain cover device. The drain cover device can have a visible upper surface, the material or color of which is matched to the adjacent areas of the water collection device in which the drain opening of the water drainage device is arranged. For example, in a stainless steel sink, the drain cover device can have a cover element made of stainless steel or a cover element whose upper surface is provided with a coating that resembles stainless steel. The drain opening is then concealed by the cover element and is almost invisible or unobtrusive in the water collection device. The drain cover device may also comprise a cover element with a strikingly designed visible top, so that the drain opening is covered by an aesthetically pleasing cover element.

[0006] In addition to being aesthetically pleasing, the cover device can also serve as a closure element for the drain opening or can have a strainer element with which larger particles or residues from the wastewater flowing through the drain opening are retained and these particles or residues are prevented from entering the drain line connected to the drain opening and gradually clogging it.

[0007] In practice, drain cover devices are typically used that have a cover element with a rotationally symmetrical shape and contour, at least in the direction of the visible upper side. The orientation of the cover element of the water drainage device relative to the water collection device in which the water drainage device is arranged can then be arbitrary, without the circumferential contours of the cover element having sections that could run obliquely to the contours of the surrounding water collection device in an aesthetically unappealing manner.

[0008] For water collection devices that also have round contours, cover elements with a circular surface harmonize attractively with the contours of the water collection device. However, sinks with approximately cuboid contours are also known. For such sinks, drain cover devices with a cover element are also offered and used, the visible upper surface of which has a rectangular or cuboid-shaped peripheral contour. Since the cover element is usually mounted in the drain opening with a cylindrical guide pin in a hollow cylindrical guide device, the cover element can usually be positioned in any desired orientation. The desired alignment of the cover element relative to the water collection device in the case of rectangular or cuboid cover elements must then be specified manually, which makes the handling of such non-rotationally symmetrical cover elements more difficult and therefore reduces their acceptance despite the aesthetically pleasing overall impression.

[0009] Similarly, water drainage systems are used in showers, for example, or even on balcony or patio floors, which also feature a cover element with a non-rotationally symmetrical peripheral contour. With such water drainage systems, too, it is desirable that the orientation of the cover element, with a square or rectangular peripheral contour, for example, can be easily specified without requiring laborious manual alignment by the user. It should also be avoided that the cover element unintentionally twists during use of the shower or sink and subsequently remains arranged in a different orientation relative to the surrounding water collection system.

[0010] It is therefore considered an object of the present invention to design a drain cover device for a drain opening of a water drain in such a way that the orientation of a cover element can be easily predetermined or achieved manually.

[0011] This object is achieved according to the invention in that the drain cover device has an alignment specification element with an outer circumferential surface which is not rotationally symmetrical relative to the direction of displacement and which can be fixed in the drain opening on the guide device in a rotationally secure manner, and in that the cover element has an alignment guide element on its underside, wherein the alignment guide element has an inner contour surrounding the guide pin and adapted to the alignment specification element, so that a possible alignment in the circumferential direction of the cover element mounted in the drain opening of the water drain can be predetermined by a positive engagement of the alignment guide element of the cover element with the alignment specification element fixed in the drain opening of the water drain. To specify the desired orientation of the cover element, the orientation specification element must simply be attached to the guide device arranged in the drain opening in a suitable manner and with the desired orientation. A non-rotationally symmetrical outer circumferential surface is any circumferential surface that is designed such that the circumferential surface cannot be rotated by any arbitrary angle of rotation and is thereby mapped onto itself. A non-rotationally symmetrical outer circumferential surface can have only a single orientation in the circumferential direction or several predetermined orientations spaced from one another with regard to the respective angle of rotation, in which the circumferential surface is mapped onto itself.

[0012] The alignment guide element can be permanently clamped to a threaded sleeve, for example, using a hollow screw, which also serves as a guide device for receiving the guide pin of the drain cover device. The alignment guide element then surrounds an outer surface of the hollow screw and is fixed between a radially projecting head section of the hollow screw and the threaded sleeve into which the hollow screw is screwed. The alignment specification element expediently does not have an internal thread, but rather a flat inner wall, so that the alignment specification element can be rotated as desired in the circumferential direction during screwing in of the hollow screw and can be aligned in such a way that the alignment fork element of the cover element, which is in positive engagement with the alignment guide element, predetermines the desired alignment of the cover element relative to the water collection device.

[0013] The alignment guide element is expediently designed such that it can be used with various water collection devices without major modification and can simultaneously interact with various alignment guide elements of different drain cover devices in the intended manner. Alignment guide elements designed according to the invention can be used for sinks, washbasins, bathtubs, and showers, or for many different water collection devices both indoors and outdoors in buildings.

[0014] The alignment guide element can advantageously be designed so that it can be used with the water drainage devices already known in practice, and in particular with the frequently encountered ones. For this purpose, the alignment guide element can be screwed into the threaded sleeve, for example, together with a hollow screw serving as a guide for the cover element, and clamped between the hollow screw and the threaded sleeve. Such an alignment guide element can be easily inserted into already installed and used water drainage devices, thus allowing retrofitting of an existing and used water drainage device without major effort. All that's required is to purchase a drain cover assembly with a suitably designed alignment guide element and a cover element adapted to it, with a matching alignment guide element on its underside, and install it into the existing water drainage system. If necessary, it may be advisable to use a longer hollow screw or one with a hollow screw head adapted to the alignment guide element.

[0015] The alignment-predetermining element could have a protruding shape in the direction of the cover element inserted into the guide device as intended, which can be brought into engagement with a recess adapted thereto, which is formed in the alignment guide element on the underside of the cover element. Optionally, it can also be provided that the outer circumferential surface of the alignment-predetermining element and the inner contour of the alignment guide element adapted thereto are designed such that the cover element, when used as intended as a cover for the drain opening, can be mounted in the guide device in at least one orientation predetermined in the circumferential direction relative to the alignment-predetermining element. The outer circumferential surface offers many possibilities for reliable, positive engagement between the alignment-predetermining element, on the one hand, and the alignment guide element surrounding the circumferential surface. The cover element can be pushed onto the alignment specification element from above using a sleeve-shaped alignment guide element arranged on the underside of the cover element, while simultaneously inserting the guide pin of the cover element into the guide device. The dimensions of the circumferential surface of the alignment specification element, which is provided and used for positive engagement with the alignment guide element, can also be sufficiently large in an axial direction that corresponds to an orientation of the guide pin, so that even if the cover element is displaced relative to the guide device orto the water collection device, as occurs during a displacement between a closure position closing the drain opening and a drain position allowing water to drain through the drain opening, the positive engagement between the alignment specification element and the alignment guide element is maintained and the desired alignment is permanently specified over long periods of use.

[0016] According to an advantageous embodiment of the inventive concept, the outer circumferential surface of the alignment-predetermining element can have at least one planar guide surface section in the circumferential direction. The outer circumferential surface can, for example, have a cylindrical shape over a wide circumferential area and only have a planar guide surface section in a small circumferential section. With such a shape, with a correspondingly adapted shape of the alignment guide element of the cover element, a single possible orientation of the cover element relative to the alignment-predetermining element can be mandatory. It is also conceivable for the outer peripheral surface of the alignment-prescribing element to have a plurality of planar guide surface sections, so that the cover element can be selectively slid onto the alignment-prescribing element in various orientations, which can be specified by the individual guide surface sections. It is also possible for the alignment-prescribing element to have a cross-sectional surface with a polygonal peripheral edge, and for the outer peripheral surface to be formed exclusively from adjacent planar guide surfaces.

[0017] Preferably, the alignment guide element has a sleeve-like shape and can be secured to the guide device in the drain opening in a rotationally secure manner. With a suitably dimensioned sleeve-like shape, the alignment guide element can be pushed onto a hollow screw and, together with the hollow screw, screwed into the associated threaded sleeve of a water drainage device, so that no adjustment or complex modification of the water drainage device is required to secure the alignment guide element to the hollow screw serving as a guide device. An alignment guide element designed in this way can also be advantageously used for easy-to-install and cost-effective retrofitting of existing and used water drainage devices.

[0018] It is also possible, and can be advantageous for various applications, for the alignment-predetermining element to have one or more clamping tongues which, when the cover element is properly arranged on the alignment-predetermining element, extend parallel to a direction of extension of the guide pin and enable a rotationally secure engagement of the clamping tongues with one or more drain opening webs arranged circumferentially spaced from one another in the drain opening. The alignment-predetermining element can then be independent of the shape of the guide device used in each individual case and, for example, can also be used and combined with water drainage devices that do not have a centrally arranged hollow screw or otherwise designed sleeve-like guide device for the guide pin.The alignment presetting element can, for example, have an annular base body that surrounds the guide device. The annular base body can have contact with the guide device, but does not have to have contact with the guide device. The alignment presetting element can also have a differently shaped base body, which, when used as intended, can be arranged next to the guide device and secured in the drain opening of the water drainage device. Protruding clamping tongues can be formed from the annular or differently shaped base body or subsequently secured to the base body, which can be brought into positive engagement, for example by locking, with clamping sections adapted thereto in order to fix the alignment presetting element to the clamping sections. At least one suitable clamping section is necessary, which is formed or arranged in the area of the drain opening on a suitable component of the water drainage device.

[0019] In many cases, the water drainage device has a sieve-like design of the drain opening, wherein several usually concentrically arranged sieve drain openings are separated from one another by drain opening webs extending therebetween. The drain opening webs often extend radially from an inner region to the outside, wherein the guide device is arranged in the inner region and is connected to a surrounding water drainage frame structure via the drain opening webs. The alignment-presetting element is advantageously designed with the clamping tongues such that the clamping tongues engage around at least one drain opening web and preferably several or all of the drain opening webs and secure the alignment-presetting element to the sieve drain openings in a form-fitting manner.

[0020] The alignment guide element can be manufactured in one piece with the cover element. It is also possible, and optionally provided, for the alignment guide element to be detachably connected to the cover element. The alignment guide element can then be subsequently attached to cover elements that have already been manufactured or are being manufactured in parallel. This attachment can be achieved, for example, via respective contact surfaces with a suitable adhesive or by friction welding.

[0021] It can optionally be provided that the alignment specification element and / or the alignment guide element are made of a manually elastically deformable material or are coated with it. In this way, unavoidable manufacturing tolerances due to production conditions can be compensated for, while still achieving a play-free and positively locking and alignment of the cover element to the alignment specification element. The use of an elastically deformable material can also facilitate handling, since when the cover element is inserted into the guide device and the alignment guide element is simultaneously pushed onto the alignment specification element, an alignment deviating from the desired alignment does not lead to undesired tilting of the cover element, but rather enables elastic compensation. The manually elastically deformable material may, for example, be a rubber material or an elastically deformable plastic material, wherein a deformation preserving the basic shape can be brought about by forces that are usually exerted with one hand during the insertion of the guide pin of the cover element into the guide device.

[0022] According to an advantageous embodiment of the inventive concept, it can be provided that the alignment specification element and / or the alignment guide element has at least one alignment adjustment chamfer or an alignment adjustment surface extending at an acute angle to a direction of extension of the guide pin, which is or are designed in such a way that a desired alignment of the cover element in the circumferential direction is supported during an insertion process of the guide pin of the cover element into the guide device in the drain opening of the water drain.

[0023] In order to also be able to use the drain cover device to close the drain opening, the cover element can optionally be provided with an annular sealing element, with which the drain opening can be sealed in a liquid-tight manner when the cover element is in a closed position relative to the drain opening. Many cover elements known from practice already have a suitable annular seal, so that no additional modification or adaptation is required for use as a cover element according to the invention.

[0024] It can further advantageously be provided that the drain cover element has a strainer basket element arranged on the underside of the cover plate at a distance from the underside. Such a strainer basket element can prevent larger particles or contaminants from being flushed out through the drain opening along with wastewater, regardless of whether the drain opening may be configured with multiple strainer drain openings. This could lead to an undesirable blockage of a wastewater line connected to the drain opening.

[0025] The invention also relates to a water drainage device with a drain opening arranged in a water collection device and with a drain cover device covering the drain opening, which has a cover element that is displaceably mounted in a guide device fixed relative to the drain opening in a displacement direction. According to the invention, the drain cover device is a drain cover device with the features and combinations of features described above.Particularly in the case of water drainage devices which are intended for use in water collection devices which have flat contours and for which a non-rotationally symmetrical design of a cover element promotes an aesthetically pleasing overall impression, it may be expedient to design and adapt the water drainage opening and the guide device arranged therein on the one hand and the drainage cover device and, above all, the cover element to one another in such a way that the water drainage device can be manufactured as cost-effectively as possible and can be easily installed in the water collection device and the desired orientation of the cover element can also be specified in a simple and reliable manner during use of the water collection device.

[0026] Preferably, the guide device is a guide sleeve or hollow screw arranged in the drain opening. In this way, numerous components of already known and existing water drainage devices can be reused or manufactured unchanged without major modifications. All that is required is a design of the alignment guide element adapted to the hollow screw or guide sleeve, as well as an adapted design of the cover element, or subsequent attachment of a suitable alignment guide element to a conventional cover element.

[0027] It can also be expediently provided that the water drainage device has a sieve drainage element arranged at a distance from the drainage opening in the direction of displacement, with a plurality of sieve drainage openings separated from one another by drainage opening webs, and that the guide device is fixed to at least one drainage opening web.

[0028] Below, various embodiments of the inventive concept are explained in more detail by way of example, as illustrated in the drawing. It shows: Fig. 1 a perspective view of a water collection device designed as a cuboid sink with a cover element arranged in the sink with a rectangular peripheral contour, Fig. 2 a sectional view of a portion of the Fig. 1 shown sink with a water drainage device and with a drain cover device, wherein the cover element of the drain cover device has a Fig. 1 invisible drain opening of the sink covered, Fig. 3 a plan view of a water drainage base body with several concentrically arranged sieve drainage openings and a non-rotationally symmetrical alignment element, Fig. 4 a sectional view of the also in Fig. 2 shown partial area, wherein the drain cover device has a differently designed alignment specification element, Fig. 5 a top view of an alignment preset element, Fig. 6 a plan view of a differently designed alignment guide element, Fig. 7 a top view of a differently designed alignment element, Fig. 8 a top view of a further differently designed alignment specification element, Fig. 9 a side view of a cover element with a strainer basket element and with an annular sealing element, Fig. 10 a sectional view of the Fig. 9 shown cover element along a line XX in Fig. 9 , Fig. 11 a view of the underside of the Fig. 9 und 10 shown cover element, Fig. 12 a side view of a water drain body with a hollow screw screwed into a threaded sleeve, Fig. 13 a sectional view of the Fig. 12 shown water drainage body along a line XIII-XIII in Fig. 12 , Fig. 14 a top view of the water drain body with an alignment guide element clamped by the hollow screw, Fig. 15 a side view of a water drainage device with the Fig. 9 bis 11 Cover element shown and with the one shown in the Fig. 12 bis 14 shown water drainage body, Fig. 16 a sectional view of the Fig. 15 shown water drainage device along a line XVI-XVI in Fig. 15 , and Fig. 17 a plan view of the water drainage device with the cover element with a cuboid-shaped peripheral contour, which covers the drain opening.

[0029] In Fig. 1 A cuboid sink 1 is shown schematically as an example of a water collection device. The water collection device can, for example, also be a washbasin, a bathtub, a shower or a floor drain in a balcony or terrace. The sink 1 has essentially flat side walls 2 and a flat bottom 3. Next to the sink 1, on a worktop 4, an adjustable water outlet fitting 5 is arranged. In the sink 1 there is a Fig. 1 invisible drain opening 6, which is covered by a cover element 7 with a square peripheral contour.

[0030] In Fig. 2 is a sectional view of a portion of the Fig. 1 shown sink 1 with a water drainage device 8 and with a drain cover device 9, wherein the cover element 7 of the drain cover device 9 covers the drain opening 10 of the water drainage device 8. A also in Fig. 3 The water drain base body 11 shown in isolation has an annular fastening flange 12 along its peripheral edge, with which the water drain base body 11 is secured in or on a recess 13 adapted thereto in the sink 1. A threaded sleeve 14 is secured to the water drain base body 11 in the center of the water drain base body 11. A hollow screw 15 is screwed into the threaded sleeve 14 and serves as a guide device for the cover element 7 of the drain cover device 9.

[0031] The cover element 7 has a plate-shaped cover plate 16 and a guide pin 18 fastened to an underside 17 of the cover plate 16 and protruding from the cover plate 16. The guide pin 18 is adapted to the dimensions of the hollow screw 15 and is mounted in the hollow screw 15 so as to be displaceable in an axial direction, wherein the axial direction corresponds to the orientation of the guide pin 18 and simultaneously to a center axis of the hollow screw 15. An approximately annular, but not rotationally symmetrical, orientation setting element 19 is pushed onto a threaded portion of the hollow screw 15 and clamped between a radially outwardly projecting hollow screw head 20 and the threaded sleeve 14.

[0032] The cover element 7 has an alignment guide element 21, which in this embodiment is formed integrally on the underside 17. An inner contour 22 of the alignment guide element 21 is designed such that the inner contour 22 forms a positive and circumferentially rotationally secure engagement with an outer circumferential surface 23 of the alignment specification element 19. In this way, the engagement of the alignment specification element 19 with the alignment guide element 21 specifies the alignment of the cover element 7 relative to the water drain base body 11. By rotating the alignment specification element 19 relative to the hollow screw 15 before or while the hollow screw 15 is screwed into the threaded sleeve 14, the alignment of the cover element 7 can be easily changed and individually adjusted or specified.

[0033] In Fig. 4 is one of the Fig. 2 A different variant of a drain cover device 9 is shown. The individual components are largely identical. However, the alignment setting element 19 is not approximately ring-shaped and pushed onto the hollow screw 15, but has clamping tongues 24 projecting in the axial direction, which Fig. 3 shown and extending between the concentrically arranged sieve drain openings 25, and thereby fix the alignment specification element 19 to the water drain base body 11 in a rotationally secure manner.

[0034] In Fig. 5 An exemplary embodiment of the alignment specification element 19 is shown. The alignment specification element 19 has a circumferential surface 23 consisting of several planar guide surfaces 27. By adapting the design of the inner contour 22 of the alignment guide element 21 to this, it can be specified that the cover element 7 can only be arranged in four different orientations in the circumferential direction relative to the alignment specification element 19.

[0035] At the Fig. 6 In the variant of the alignment specification element 19 shown as an example, a flat guide surface 27 is oriented obliquely at an angle of 45° to the two adjacent peripheral surface areas. This alignment specification element 19, in combination with an adapted inner contour 22 of the alignment guide element 21, can be used to specify a single possible orientation of the cover element 7.

[0036] At the Fig. 7 In the exemplary variant of the alignment specification element 19, which again differs, the peripheral surface 23 has curved regions and two opposing and parallel, flat guide surfaces 27. With such an alignment specification element 19, two different orientations of the cover element 7 can be specified in a simple manner.

[0037] At the Fig. 8 In the variant of the alignment specification element 19 shown as an example and which again differs, the circumferential surface 23 does not have flat guide surfaces extending in the circumferential direction, but rather a plurality of radially projecting bead elements 28 arranged distributed in the circumferential direction. Due to the number and arrangement of the bead elements, in conjunction with an inner contour 22 of the alignment guide element 21 adapted thereto, either only one possible orientation or two or more possible orientations of the cover element 7 of the drain cover device 9 can be specified.

[0038] In the Fig. 9 bis 11 An exemplary embodiment of the cover element 7 is shown, in which a strainer basket element 29 and an annular seal 30 are additionally provided on the underside 17 of the cover element 7, so that the cover element 7 can be used not only to decoratively cover the drain opening 10, but also to provide a watertight seal for the drain opening 10. The strainer basket element 28 has a large number of concentrically arranged strainer basket openings 31. The strainer basket element 29 and the annular seal 30 surround the alignment guide element 21, which is arranged concentrically in the center and has an inner contour 22 with a plurality of inwardly projecting contour ribs 32.

[0039] In the Fig. 12 bis 14 A water drainage base body 11 adapted thereto is shown with the hollow screw 15 screwed into it. The alignment guide element 19 is clamped between the hollow screw head 20 and the water drainage base body 11.

[0040] In the Fig. 15 bis 17 The water drainage device 8 is shown with the water drainage base body 11 and the cover element 7 which is displaceably mounted in the hollow screw 15. In the Fig. 17 The square peripheral contour of the cover element 7 can be seen in the top view shown.
