AI Technical Summary
Technical Problem
Existing extrusion heads for additive manufacturing face issues with magnetic stray fields interfering with induction heating, causing reduced heating efficiency and unwanted eddy currents in heat sinks made of aluminum or copper.
Method used
Incorporating a radially outwardly projecting guide flange for the induced magnetic field between the induction coil and the carrier, which redirects magnetic field lines and reduces residual stray fields, allowing for improved inductive heating and minimizing eddy currents.
Benefits of technology
This configuration enhances the inductive heating efficiency by minimizing stray fields and eddy currents, ensuring a consistent temperature profile for the melt strand during additive manufacturing.

Abstract
A description is given of an extrusion head for the additive manufacture of a moulded body comprising a tubular body (5) of a ferromagnetic material, which opens out in an extrusion die (4), on the feed side is held in a carrier (2), and forms an extrusion channel (3), and also comprising at least one induction coil (6), which encloses the tubular body (5) between the carrier (2) and the extrusion die (4). To make advantageous melting conditions possible, it is proposed that the tubular body (5) has for the induced magnetic field a guide flange (7), which is arranged between the induction coil (6) and the carrier (2) in the axial direction and protrudes radially outwards.
