Abstract

TITLE: Battery cell and method for charging a cell and its application. Battery cell comprising an electrode unit (10, 20), having a positive electrode (102), a negative electrode (104) and between them a separator (103). A heating element (108, 208) is applied to the electrode unit (10, 20) to heat one of the electrodes (102, 104, 204). Figure 1

Claims

1. A battery cell comprising at least one electrode unit (10, 20), said electrode unit (10, 20) having a positive electrode (102), a negative electrode (104) and a separator (103) therebetween, and a heating element (108, 208) applied to the electrode unit (10, 20) for heating one of the electrodes (102, 104, 204), characterized in that the negative electrode (104, 204) of the electrode unit (10, 20) has a porous structure, the pores of which are at least partially filled with an inorganic ionic conductor.

2. Battery cell according to claim 1, characterized in that the heating element (108, 208) is of the laminated type.

3. Battery cell according to claim 2, characterized in that the heating element (108, 208) has a maximum thickness of 20 μm.

4. Battery cell according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the heating element (108) has an electrically conductive material, preferably nickel or an electrically insulating material, preferably a polymer.

5. Battery cell according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the heating element (108) is applied (106) to an electroinsulating element itself provided on a current conductor (114) of an electrode (102, 104) of this electrode unit (10).

6. Battery cell according to one of claims 1 to 4, characterized in that the heating element (208) is applied to the negative electrode (204) of the electrode unit (20).

7. Battery cell according to claim 6, characterized in that the negative electrode of the electrode unit (20) comprises lithium metal.

8. Battery cell according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the separator (103) of the electrode unit (10, 20) comprises a solid electrolyte.

9. Method for charging a battery cell according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that - an electrode (102, 104, 204) of at least one electrode unit (10, 20) of the battery cell is heated using a heating element (108, 208) to a first predefined temperature, * this heating element (108, 110) being applied to the electrode unit (10, 20), and - the battery cell is charged so as to cause an electric current to pass through the battery cell, * the battery cell being maintained at a second predefined temperature during the charging operation.

10. Method according to claim 9, characterized in that the first and second predefined temperatures are located in a range of 50 to 80°C, preferably they are equal to 60°C.

11. Application of a battery cell according to one of claims 1 to 8 to an electric vehicle (EV), a hybrid vehicle (HEV) or a plug-in hybrid vehicle (PHEV).
