Abstract
Description
Title of the invention: Windshield wiper blade FIELD OF THE INVENTION
[0001] The present invention relates to a windscreen wiper blade comprising an elastic rail and a wiping blade unit with a wiping lip and a base body having a bearing surface for receiving the elastic rail. STATE OF THE ART
[0002] Such a windshield wiper blade is already known.
[0003] DISCLOSURE AND ADVANTAGES OF THE INVENTION
[0004] The present invention relates to a windscreen wiper blade comprising at least one elastic rail and at least one wiping blade unit with at least one wiping lip and at least one wiping base body which has at least one elastic rail bearing surface for receiving the elastic rail, this windscreen wiper blade being characterized in that the wiping blade unit has an elastic spring element for clamping the wiping blade unit against the elastic rail.
[0005] The term "wiper blade unit" refers to at least one part, in particular a subassembly of a windshield wiper blade. The wiper blade unit is intended to wipe a surface, in particular a vehicle window, in particular to clean this surface or remove liquid from the surface. The wiper blade unit is intended to come into direct contact with the surface, which is in particular a vehicle window. This wiper blade unit is applied to a motor vehicle. The wiper blade unit is intended to wipe a vehicle window, in particular the windshield or the rear window or a headlight window. The wiper blade unit comprises at least one base body and a wiping lip.
[0006] Preferably, the wiping lip wipes the surface, in particular that of a window of the vehicle, in operating mode by coming into direct contact with the window. The wiping lip, at least under the effect of a force, for example, that exerted by the elastic rail of the wiper blade, adapts to the shape of the surface. The wiping lip is made of a natural or synthetic elastomer, in particular plastic or rubber. Preferably, the wiping lip is on the base body, in particular in one piece with this base body. The wiping lip is at least practically parallel to the main direction of extension of the wiper blade unit.
[0007] It should be noted that in the description and the claims, the conjunction "or" is used in its traditional sense which combines the logical function of "inclusive or" and that of "exclusive or".
[0008] The expression "principal direction of extension" of an object designates the direction parallel to the direction of the longest side of the smallest parallelepiped completely and closely surrounding the object. The expression "practically parallel" designates the orientation of a direction relative to a reference direction, in particular, in a plane; the direction deviates from the reference direction only by a deviation, in particular less than 8°, advantageously less than 5° and particularly advantageously less than 2°.
[0009] Preferably, the base body of the wiper blade unit is provided for coupling the wiper blade unit to another component of the wiper blade. Other components of the wiper blade are, for example, the elastic rail, the end caps, the deflector, the fastening element, the wiper arm adapter, a retaining spring or similar means.
[0010] In particular, the base body is provided to receive at least partially the elastic rail. The base body has an elastic rail bearing surface. This elastic rail bearing surface is preferably designed to receive the elastic rail in a supported manner. The elastic rail bearing surface is preferably a part of the elastic rail receptacle. Preferably, the elastic rail receptacle is in the form of a complete recess for receiving the elastic rail. The elastic rail receptacle is in the form of a passage or a groove in the base body of the windscreen wiper. Preferably, the main direction of extension of the elastic rail receptacle is at least substantially parallel to the main direction of extension of the base body or the wiper blade unit.
[0011] The expression "main direction of extension of a housing or a recess" designates in particular the main direction of extension of the wall delimiting the housing or the extension, in particular, with an infinitely thin wall thickness. Preferably, the base body, in at least one operating state of the wiper blade unit, is without contact with the surface, in particular, the window of the vehicle. Preferably, the base body is made of a natural or synthetic elastomer, in particular a plastic or rubber material.
[0012] Preferably, the wiper lip, the elastic spring element and the base body are made of the same material. The wiper arm is preferably made with the base body and the elastic spring element. The wiper lip is made of a single piece with the base body. The wiper lip is made of a single piece, in particular made of a single piece with the elastic spring element and the wiper base body. The term "in a single piece" means that it is a connection in one single piece or a connection by material such as, for example, by a welding or gluing process or other and in a particularly advantageous manner, it is a shaping by production from a cast iron or production by an injection process with one or more components. The expression "in a single piece" designates in particular production in a single piece. Preferably, this part or this piece is obtained from a single blank, a mass or a cast iron, in particular, preferentially, by an injection process, in particular an injection process with one or more components.
[0013] According to an advantageous development of the invention, the main direction of extension of the base body is at least substantially parallel to the main direction of extension of the wiping lip or the wiping blade unit. The elastic spring element is advantageously on the base body. A resilient spring element is in the region of the connecting spacer between the longitudinal cavity and the wiping lip. The resilient spring element is formed in one piece with the base body.
[0014] An elastic spring element according to the present invention designates in particular an element produced for contact between the bearing surface of the elastic rail and the elastic rail in wiping mode to have a sufficiently large application force and at the same time relative mobility due to the elasticity in the longitudinal direction between the distal end of the wiping lip and the elastic rail.
[0015] The embodiment of the wiper blade according to the invention advantageously reduces the reversal or tilting noise at the respective reversal point of the wiping movement. The elastic spring element presses the base body against the elastic rail. This pressure application advantageously reduces the relative movement between the elastic rail and the wiper blade unit, thus minimizing turbulence. At the same time, the elasticity of the spring element in the longitudinal direction, i.e. in the direction of the axis of symmetry, is particularly advantageous for longitudinal damping, which reduces the noise generated by the smooth wiping movement beyond the reversal point.
[0016] The elastic spring element is preferably designed to have a sufficient damping effect in the direction of the axis of symmetry and at the same time the restoring force provided by the elastic spring element ensures stable pressing of the wiper base body against the elastic rail among the forces acting at the reversal point.
[0017] The embodiment of the wiper blade according to the invention is advantageous. In particular, the wiper blade unit deforms with a lower elastic force. In particular, the wiper blade unit during a wiping movement of the wiper blade unit advantageously deforms in a simple manner. In particular, the wiping movements of the wiper blade unit will be advantageously low noise.
[0018] According to an advantageous development of the invention, the bearing surface of the elastic rail at least partly forms the elastic rail housing. The elastic spring element is different from the elastic rail or spring rail. According to an advantageous development of the invention, the base body has at least one longitudinal cavity which is closed in the peripheral direction and which is different from the elastic rail housing.
[0019] Preferably, the longitudinal cavity is at least substantially parallel to the main direction of extension of the wiper blade unit, in particular of the wiper base body. Preferably, the maximum extension of the longitudinal cavity is oriented in the main direction of extension of the wiper blade unit and practically does not deviate from the maximum extension of the wiper blade unit, in particular of the wiper base body. The fact that two adjacent quantities "substantially correspond" means in particular that the smallest ratio that can be formed between the two quantities is at least greater than 0.25, preferably greater than 0.5 and very preferably greater than 0.75. The course of the longitudinal cavity is at least substantially parallel to the main direction of extension of the elastic rail housing. The longitudinal cavity is at least substantially parallel to the main direction of extension of the elastic rail housing. Preferably, the longitudinal cavity is at least substantially parallel to the main direction of extension of the wiper lip. The term "in the peripheral direction" means that it is a plane which is substantially perpendicular to the main direction of extension of the wiper blade unit.
[0020] The expression "practically perpendicular" designates in particular the orientation of a direction relative to a reference direction; this direction is the reference direction in particular considered in a plane, these directions forming an angle of 90° between them and the maximum angular difference is in particular less than 8° and advantageously less than 5° and in a particularly advantageous manner less than 2°.
[0021] Preferably, the wiping lip is adjacent to the longitudinal cavity. The longitudinal cavity makes the wiper blade unit advantageously more or less elastic in one direction; the elastic spring element is produced separately from the longitudinal cavity. Preferably, the longitudinal cavity deforms during the wiping movement.
[0022] According to an advantageous development of the invention, the wiper blade has a cover element facing the wiping lip, in particular a deflector, and the cover element surrounds the base body. The cover element can be designed as a deflector element. The deflector element is preferably provided to deflect the circulating wind and to create an application force. According to an advantageous development, the cover element is in two parts comprising a first deflector element and a second deflector element. Each of the deflector elements can occupy, preferably, half of the overall extension of the wiper blade.
[0023] According to an advantageous development of the invention, the cover element forms the housing of the elastic rail. The cover element is a part of the elastic rail housing. The base body and the cover element jointly form the housing of the elastic rail. This thus enables particularly stable positioning of the elastic rail. The cover element preferably has two side walls which practically completely cover the longitudinal cavity. The cover element may be an extruded part. The elasticity of the cover element is lower than that of the wiping rubber. The cover element preferably surrounds the base body. In the context of the present invention, the term "surround" refers in particular to surrounding the base body practically at least partially in all spatial directions. The cover element has on its side facing the surface to be wiped, an opening crossed by the wiping lip. The elastic spring element is, preferably, housed completely in the cover element.
[0024] According to another feature, the elastic spring element comprises at least one first elastic spring element portion and at least one second elastic spring element portion, the spring element portions preferably being made of windshield wiper rubber. Preferably, the spring element portions are spring arms preferably substantially rectangular in cross-section, substantially flat and extending in the longitudinal direction. More than two spring element portions may also be envisaged; in the longitudinal direction, several spring element portions may also be envisaged. It may also be envisaged that the spring element portions have a shape which deviates from a rectangular contour. Preferably, the spring element portions penetrate into the cover element in the manner of a tongue-and-groove connection. The two spring element parts are plane-symmetrical with respect to the axis of symmetry. Preferably, the spring element parts have a thickness which practically corresponds to the channel wall.
[0025] The expression "plane-symmetrical with respect to the axis of symmetry" is an abuse of language meaning that plane-symmetry is symmetry with respect to the plane perpendicular to the surface of the figure, and whose trace is this so-called "axis of symmetry".
[0026] According to an advantageous development of the invention, the spring element parts form an angle α between them of between 5° and 65°, preferably of between 10° and 60° and particularly preferably between 20° and 50° relative to a spring element plane substantially parallel to the wiping direction. Preferably, the spring element parts are oriented radially outwards. Spring element parts oriented radially inwards in the direction of the center axis are also conceivable. Preferably, the spring element parts form an angle (a) of between 5° and 65°, preferably between 10° and 60° and particularly preferably between 20° and 50° relative to the bearing surface of the elastic rail. This has the particular advantage of providing an application force and at the same time ensuring vertical elasticity.
[0027] An advantageous development of the invention provides the spring element parts to provide a support structure between the cover element and the elastic rail. According to an advantageous development of the invention, the spring element parts bear against the cover element. Between the spring element parts and the cover element, there is thus a pair of active surfaces for transmitting the bearing force to the elastic rail.
[0028] According to an advantageous development of the invention, the base body comprises at least two channel walls surrounding the longitudinal cavity. Preferably, the longitudinal channel is of a substantially rectangular shape. Preferably, the longitudinal cavity is connected to the wiping lip by a relatively narrow connecting spacer. The channel walls are made of the same material as that of the wiping lip of the wiping blade unit. It is also possible to envisage that the channel walls are made of another material, in particular another elastic material, than the wiping lip of the wiping blade unit. Preferably, the channel walls at least partially delimit the elongated cavity, in particular in a direction substantially parallel to the wiping direction. Preferably, the channel walls are plane-symmetrical with respect to each other, in particular with respect to the main direction of extension of the base body.
[0029] According to an advantageous development of the invention the spring elements are on the side of the longitudinal cavity (18a; 18b) opposite that of the elastic rails. An advantageous development of the invention the elastic rail consists of a first elastic rail segment and a second elastic rail segment. This ensures that the side walls of the cover element completely surround the longitudinal cavity and ensure corresponding stability in the longitudinal direction with the elastic spring element in the cover element.
[0030] In order to have a stable support of the elastic spring element against the covering element, an advantageous development of the invention provides that the spring element parts are engaged in a corner area of the covering element between the side walls and a corresponding contour of the cover element. Preferably, the contour extends practically in the wiping direction. Preferably, the cover element practically completely surrounds the walls of the cavity.
[0031] According to an advantageous development of the invention, the wiping lip has a maximum extension parallel to a wiping direction and which extends over at least one tenth, in particular at least one fifth of the maximum extension of the base body, parallel to the wiping direction. Advantageously, the wiping lip is massive. A stable and movable wiping lip is produced in particular for removing stubborn dirt from the surface, in particular the vehicle window, by wiping. Advantageously, a stable and movable wiping lip is produced in particular for tackling stubborn dirt from the surface, in particular a vehicle window, by wiping.
[0032] According to another characteristic, the wiping lip has a practically triangular section. The expression "a triangular section" means in particular that the smallest theoretical triangle which completely surrounds the section has a surface which is at most equal to 125%, preferably at most equal to 115%, in a particularly preferential manner at most equal to 105% of the surface of the section. Alternatively or in addition, the largest theoretical triangle which completely surrounds the interior of the section has a surface which corresponds to at least 75%, preferably at least 85% and in a particularly preferential manner at least 95% of the surface of the section. In particular, it can be envisaged that the practically triangular section has, instead of a vertex of the triangle, a contact surface for coming into contact with the surface to be cleaned. [0037] DESCRIPTION OF EMBODIMENTS OF THE INVENTION
[0038] [Fig.l] shows a wiper blade 10a. The wiper blade 10a comprises at least one elastic rail 17a (see [Fig.2]). The wiper blade 10a comprises at least one wiper blade unit 11a. The wiper blade unit 11a has a longitudinal direction 50a constituting the main direction of extension. In particular, the longitudinal direction 50a is substantially parallel to the main direction of extension of the wiper blade 10a. Preferably, the longitudinal direction 50a is at least substantially perpendicular to the intended wiping direction 30a, 32a of the wiper blade 10a, in particular of the wiper blade unit 11a. Preferably, the wiper blade 10a comprises end caps 42a, 44a which are not detailed. The wiper blade 10a also comprises a wiper arm adapter 46a.
[0039] [Fig. 2] is a section of the wiper blade 10a in particular in the section plane 52a (see [Fig. 1 ]) which is in particular at least practically perpendicular to the longitudinal direction 50a. The section of the wiper blade 10a has an axis of symmetry 102 which is in particular at least practically perpendicular to the wiping direction 30a, 32a and in particular at least practically parallel to the longitudinal direction 50a. In particular, the section of the wiper blade unit 11a is plane-symmetrical with respect to the axis of symmetry 12a. The wiper blade unit 12a comprises at least one wiping lip 12a. The wiping lip 12a lies in the plane of symmetry 102. In particular, the main direction of extension of the wiping lip 12a is at least substantially parallel to the axis of symmetry 102.
[0040] Preferably, the wiping lip 102a is in particular plane-symmetrical with respect to the axis of symmetry 102. The wiping blade unit 11a comprises a base body 14a. The wiping lip 12a is provided on the base body 14a. The base body 14a is plane-symmetrical with respect to the axis of symmetry 102. In particular, the main direction of the base body 12a is at least substantially parallel and preferably parallel to the axis of symmetry 102.
[0041] The base body 14a comprises at least one elastic rail bearing surface 16a. The elastic rail bearing surface 16a is intended to receive the elastic rail.
[0042] According to the embodiment shown in [Fig. 2], the elastic rail 17a is in two parts and comprises a first elastic rail segment 17a and a second elastic rail segment 17b. The elastic rail segments 17a, 17b according to the embodiment of [Fig. 2] are in contact with the bearing surface 16a of the elastic rail. The spring element 40a, 40b is designed for as stable a coupling as possible between the surface of the elastic rail installation 16a and the elastic rail 17a, 17b while at the same time ensuring elasticity in the longitudinal direction, i.e. perpendicular to the wiping direction 30a, 32a.
[0043] The elastic rail bearing surface 16a is preferably a part of the elastic rail housing 15. The elastic rail housing 15 preferably at least partially surrounds the elastic rail segments 17a, 17b. Preferably, the rail segments elastic 17a, 17b are respectively surrounded by a covering element 100 common with the elastic rail housing, preferably, practically completely.
[0044] Embodiments can also be envisaged in which the elastic rail housing 15 is closed in the circumferential direction. It can also be envisaged that an elastic rail. An advantageous development provides a maximum extension of the elastic rail housing 15 which is at least practically the maximum extension of the wiper blade unit 11 in a direction practically parallel to the wiping direction 30a, 321a.
[0045] The elastic rail segments 17a, 17b extend substantially parallel to the wiping direction 30a, 32a. Preferably, the elastic rail support surface 16a, 16b, which is preferably also in two parts, is oriented substantially in a direction parallel to the wiping direction 30a, 32a. Preferably, the extension of the elastic rail support 16a, 16b in the wiping direction 30a, 30b is substantially the extension of the elastic rail segments 17a, 17b in this direction.
[0046] The base body 14a comprises a longitudinal cavity 18a. The longitudinal cavity 18a is different from the housing 15 receiving the elastic rail. The elastic rail bearing surfaces 16a, 16b may be an outer wall of the longitudinal cavity 18a. The longitudinal cavity 18a is preferably closed in the peripheral direction. Preferably, the wiping lip 12a is on the longitudinal cavity 18a.
[0047] The base body 14a comprises at least two walls 22a, 24a which surround the longitudinal cavity 18a. Preferably, the cavity walls 22a, 24a are of the same shape. In particular, the cavity walls 22a, 24a form the entire cavity wall in common. Preferably, the two cavity walls 22a, 24a are plane-symmetrical with respect to each other, in particular with respect to the axis of symmetry 102. Preferably, the wiping lip 12a is outside the longitudinal cavity 18a. The wiping lip 12a preferably has a practically triangular shape.
[0048] It is conceivable that the wiping lip 12a is made of a solid material. It is also conceivable that the wiping lip 12a has additional recesses in a direction transverse to the axis of symmetry 102. The longitudinal cavity 18a and the wiping lip 12a are connected to each other by a relatively narrow connecting spacer 34a. Both the longitudinal cavity 18a and also the wiping lips 12a are symmetrical with respect to the axis of symmetry 102.
[0049] According to the embodiment of the invention shown in [Fig. 2], the longitudinal cavity has a substantially rectangular shape. However, other cavity shapes can be envisaged as long as this is suitable for appropriate compensation in the longitudinal direction. In operation, the wiping lip 12a is preferably in contact by its end opposite the cavity with the surface to be cleaned. The wiping lip 12a is preferably substantially perpendicular to the wiping direction 30a, 32a.
[0050] According to the embodiment of the invention shown in [Fig. 2], the wiper blade unit comprising the wiper lip 12a, the connecting spacer 34a and the base body 14a are made in one piece from wiper rubber. The wiper blade unit 11 is preferably extruded from EPDM rubber. A coextrusion process is used for this purpose; alternatively, only one plastic material can be used. A preferred embodiment of the invention provides the wiper lip 12a from a softer EPDM rubber than the remaining part of the wiper blade unit 11. It is also possible to envisage that the longitudinal cavity 18a is more rigid than the wiper lip 12a. Preferably, the longitudinal cavity 18a is made to have a damping coefficient largely greater than that of the wiping lip 12a.Preferably, the elastic rail housing 15 is made of a shape-stable plastic material; in particular, the elastic rail housing 15 is made of a more shape-stable plastic material so that, in particular, particularly stable elastic rail bearing surfaces 16a, 16b are obtained.
[0051] According to the embodiment of the invention shown in [Fig. 2], the longitudinal cavity 18a continues with the elastic rail housing 15. The elastic rail housing 15 has a substantially T-shaped segment as well as an elastic rail bearing surface 16a, 16b. The T-shaped segment comprises a top beam or cross member 126 as well as a spacer 128. The spacer 128 formed in the longitudinal cavity 18a and thus at the elastic rail bearing surface 17a, 17b which is provided through the upper wall of the longitudinal cavity 18a and the top beam 126 form in section an elastic rail housing developed in the holding groove. The elastic rail bearing surfaces 16a, 16b are intended to receive a first elastic rail segment 17a and a corresponding second elastic rail segment 17b.The length of the spacer 128 substantially corresponds to the thickness of the first elastic rail segment 17a or the second elastic rail segment 17b so that the wiper blade unit 17 is securely held between the first elastic rail segment 17a and the second elastic rail segment 17b by holding them securely in the vertical direction.
[0052] The hollow volume of the longitudinal cavity 18a can be filled at atmospheric pressure with a particular gas or alternatively also with compressed air.
[0053] The side of the wiper blade 11a not facing the wiper lip 12a has a cover element 100. The cover element 100 is preferably in the form of a deflector. The cover element 100 has two side walls 104a, 104b. The side walls 104a, 104b extend substantially in the direction of the axis of symmetry 102. The side walls 104a, 104b preferably cover the entire height of the longitudinal cavity 18a. Preferably, the side walls 104a, 104b extend substantially at least partially in the region of the connecting spacer 104a, 104b. The side walls 104a, 104b preferably join a respective contour 105a, 105b. The contour 105a, 105b is preferably a relief of the corresponding side wall 104a, 104b and which extends substantially in the wiping direction. The contour 105a, 105b thus preferably extends in the direction of the elastic rail segments 17a, 17b. The cover element 100 closes a free space, preferably with the base body 14a.
[0054] As clearly shown in [Fig. 2], the wiper blade unit 11a comprises an elastic spring element 40. The elastic spring element 40 preferably has at least a first spring element portion 40a and a second spring element portion 40b. According to the embodiment shown in [Fig. 2], the spring element portions 40a, 40b are made of a single piece of wiper rubber. However, embodiments can be envisaged in which the spring element 40 is a separate piece. It can also be envisaged that only a portion of the spring element. It can also be envisaged that the first spring element portion 40a and the second spring element portion 40b are of different shapes from each other. Finally, it can be envisaged to have more than two spring element portions.
[0055] The part of the spring element 40 presses the base body 14a with the contact surface 16a, 16b against the elastic rail 17. The elastic spring element 40 thus makes it possible, during the reversing movement of the wiper at the reversing point, to prevent the elastic rail from moving away from the base body 14a, at least in part, thereby avoiding annoying switching noises. At the same time, the elastic spring element, due to its elasticity and the resulting damping effect, ensures a sufficient damping effect during the wiping movement beyond the reversing points.
[0056] According to the embodiment of the invention shown in [Fig. 2], the spring element parts 40a, 40b are spring arms which make an angle (a) with respect to the horizontal direction, i.e. with respect to the wiping direction 30a, 32a. The angle (a) of the spring element is preferably of the order of 45°. But other spring angles can also be envisaged depending on the desired spring effect.
[0057] According to the embodiment of the invention shown in [Fig. 2], the spring element parts 40a, 40b bear against the cover element 100. The spring element 40 preferably has a longitudinal and transverse stop. The longitudinal and transverse stop is in the corner region 110a, 110b between the corresponding side wall 104a, 104b and the contour 105a, 105b. The elastic spring element 40 is made in the form of an elastic support structure between the cover element 100 and the elastic rail 17. The spring elements 40a, 40b extend radially outwards due to the axis of symmetry 102. The spring element parts 40a, 40b cover the connecting element 34a practically at least in part. The spring element parts 40a, 410b are preferably designed as spring elements with a progressive characteristic curve. However, other spring shapes are also conceivable.
[0058] [Fig. 3] shows another embodiment of the invention. The following distribution and drawing are practically limited to the differences between the exemplary embodiments and for components bearing the same references, reference will be made to the description already given in relation to Figures 1 and 2. To distinguish the exemplary embodiments, the suffix (a) has been added to the reference numbers of the embodiment of Figures 1 and 2 and the suffix (b) has been added to the reference numbers of the elements of [Fig. 3].
[0059] According to the embodiment of [Fig.3], the elastic spring element also has two parts of the spring element 41a, 41b. The parts of the spring element 41a, 41b make an angle (a) with respect to the bearing surface 16b of the elastic rail.
[0060] The spring element parts 41a, 41b extend at least substantially radially inwards, i.e. they are installed folded inwards. In order to support the cover element 100, the contour 105a, 105b extends further into the area of the median plane. Other embodiments are also conceivable in which the elastic rail receptacle is formed completely through the base body.
